PC user can't open compresses PDF from MAC (Stuffit)

Our PC clients get an error message that the PDF is not a valid photoshop document.  I use OSX 10.6.8 with stuffit 15.0.4 to compress the large date files. Any ideas on a fix?

Stuffit is the only app I know of which can decompress its own format. Your Windows clients must use the free Expander to open them. Otherwise, use OS X's built in zip compression and they'll be able to open the files without the need of third party software. Right click on any item, or group of items and choose, "Compress xxx Items" (how it will read if more than one item is chosen).

  • Hi! Windows 7 users can´t open the pdfs and jpegs that I have included into sent e-mails. How shall I resolve the problem?

    Hi!
Prolems started after uploading the Lion in March. Now at least Windows 7 users can´t open any pdfs or jpegs that I have included into sent e-mails. They can see that they are included but can´t open them. What can I do?

It's a bug in Outlook. Each version of Outlook has its own unique bug that prevents it form displaying email that didn't come from another Outlook user. Apple has attempted to dumb-down Mail and make it more complex in order to work around these issues, but Microsoft keeps changing the bugs in each version of Outlook instead of making an Internet Email standard compliant email client.
Are they able to right-click on the image and save it from the contextual menu?
Otherwise, make sure Send windows friendly, attachments at end of message are checked and send plain text.
Or, zip the attachments and send that way.
There is also a program called Attachment Tamer that many people have found useful.

  • User can't open a PDF created with Illustrator CS4

I'm creating a PDF in Illustrator CS4, and I save it on a server where the user can get it. User is not able to open the file, it says acces denied. When I email that same file to several users, they can open it without a problem. I have checked that there's no restrictions on accessibility on the folder or the file. I wonder if it has to do with windows user permissions...
Our IT guy couldn't find any problem ....
    Any clue?

Try saving locally and copying to the server.

  • Can't open embedded PDF from Excel

Our company recently upgraded from Acrobat Reader X to Acrobat Reader XI. Now we cannot open embedded PDF files from Excel. I am using Excel 2010, but I believe this is an issue for all versions. I get a repeated pop-up error message "Microsoft Office Excel is waiting for another application to complete an OLE action". It appears the only way to stop the pop-ups is to stop all Acrobat instances from Task Manager. In Reader X, we had to uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup" to be able to open embedded PDF files. I have had mixed results adjusting this and the "Enable Enhanced Security" setting in Reader XI. What is the right solution to this?

What have you tried?  Ifmyou just tought the attachment, it will open in sort of a quick view mode.  For all of the file types you mentioned.  If you touch and hold, a small window will open and suggest other apps, if you have any loaded, that will also work with those file types.
So what happens when you tap an attachment?

  • Pc users can't open attachments sent from my mac

  • I can't open downloaded pdfs from safari

When I download a file from an internet site.  I cannot open it and I get an error message "safari cannot open because no available application can open it"  It is just a pdf document.
Also, when I try to open documents from my documents files, I get a similar message saying "The application preview can't be opened"

I was going to ask you to post a screenshot, but that doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Below the Open with menu, there should be a Change All button. You don't have it?

  • PC users can't open invitations sent from my Mac iCal

Recently, I get responses from invitees telling me they cannot open my iCal invitations. Is there something I'm missing, or is the fault in the PC?

Thanks for the information. Leave it to Microsoft to create Outlook AND Entourage, and (a) not make Outlook Mac friendly, and (b) not make the two compatible with one-another. Incredible! Thanks again.

  • Cannot open another PDF from within a PDF RDR 9.1

Hi, all. When I or one of our users tries to open a PDF from a "Table of Contents" PDF , i.e.

    Guide

    42ACC84D.pdf

The guide opens but not the other documents. The other documents open fine if clicked on individually. They are password protected (all but guide.pdf).

Can you insert the PDF file in the Word document in another format to make it clickable in the newly converted PDF?

  • How can I open a PDF in iBooks on iPhone 5s?

I have PDFs in iBooks. When I try to open them it says I should open them with Adobe Reader. I downloaded Adobe Reader but can't seem to get the PDFs to open with it.
I found a previous thread saying that you can't use Adobe Reader with iBooks, but that was before the 5s came out, so I'm starting a new thread. If you can't open a PDF from iBooks with Adobe Reader, why is it telling me to use Adobe Reader? And how else can I open it?
This shows what happens when I try to read my PDF, and click on the icon that's supposed to let me open it in Adober Reader:

This particular file is a PDF Portfolio, which needs Flash to display correctly. When you open a PDF Portfolio in the Adobe Reader mobile it will open in list view to get around the fact that Flash isn't supported on iOS. So, it won't open properly in a native viewer on iOS only within the Adobe Reader.

  • I can open a pdf from email on a laptop, not on the desktop. The desktop tells me invalid file format. I have went through the list from support.

Had a virus on the desktop, then had a reformat, now I can not open adobe pdf in firefox from yahoo email. I have reinstalled Acrobat reader, same problem.I can open it in internet explorer. I can open it on the laptop.

    Hi Gary,
I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please  heck if the following reg key exists:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    or
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
    Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. The name of the new subdirectory is unknown and is randomly generated, depending on your version of Outlook.
    Please check the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Note the location for: OutlookSecureTempFolder key
Check if the same folder exists in the following location and if not create a corresponding folder in the location on C:\Users\<User account name>\Appdata\Local\Software\Microsoft\Windows\......

  • How can i open a PDF bank statement in numbers so that the rows and columns contain properly aligned data from statement?

how can i open a PDF bank statement in "numbers" so that the rows and columns contain properly aligned data from statement?

Numbers can store pdfs pages or clippings but does not directly open pdf files.  To get the bank statement into Numbers as a table I would open the bank statment in Preview (or Skim) or some pdf viewer.
Then hold the option key while selecting a column of data.
    Then copy
Then switch to numbers and paste the column into a table
Then repeat for the other columns in the pdf document
It would be easier (in my opinion) to download the QFX or CSV version from your bank

  • Hello, I have transferred my Acrobat XI Pro from old MAC to the new one. After the transfer can not open any PDF file. Any idea how to solve this?

Hello, I have transferred my Acrobat XI Pro from old MAC to the new one. After the transfer can not open any PDF file. Any idea how to solve this?

    Hey ilyaz20360341,
Could you please specify how exactly did you transfer Acrobat from one MAC to other.
You might need to deactivate the software from your old machine and then activate it on the new one with the same serial number (for Acrobat license) or Adobe credentials (for Acrobat subscription).
If you have done the same way, then let me know if you are able to open Acrobat itself.
Do you get any specific error message while opening a PDF?
    Hope to get your response.
    Regards,
    Anubha

  • Just upgraded to Lion, can't open any pdf file downloaded from internet that was fine with Leopard. How can I overcome this obstacle ?

Just upgraded to Lion, can't open any pdf file downloaded from the internet that was fine with Leopard before. I just got a black screen when I clicked on a pdf icon on a given internet site, and same happened with several sites that I visited. How can I overcome this obstacle ?

Try two things with Safari not running:
    1) Launch Adobe Reader, open its preferences, select the Internet category, and check the values under "Display PDF in browser using".  If it's checked, try unchecking it.
    2) Look in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins (at the top-level of your boot volume) for something names AdobePDFViewer.plugin.  If you see such a file, try moving it to a folder named "Disabled Plug-Ins" (if such a folder exists) or onto the Desktop.
    Then see how things work.

  • Can't open web pdf files from my Reader DC because my IMac wants a completed license agreement to use Reader and I never saw that page during installation.

Can't open web pdf files from my newly installed Reader DC because my IMac wants a completed license to use agreement to Reader, and I never saw that page during installation.  How do I get past this?

You need to accept the EULA on first launch of the Reader DC application.
Go to the Applications folder and launch Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
This will bring up the EULA.
Select the "Agree" button if you agree with the terms
Assuming you selected the "Agree" button, Reader DC should open.
You should now be able to open PDF files in your web browser.
