PC users receive my email attachments as .dat files...
....and CANNOT open them.
I've done a cursory search on this board to find a fix for this problem, but cannot.
Any assistance I might receive in fixing this issue would be great.

Unrecocognisable email attachments WINMAIL.DAT
my N95-8Gb sometimes receive unrecocognisable email attachments (WINMAIL.DAT). I can read maybe 1st line of the email msg but unable to view anymore than this. From what I can gather is that msgs seem to be in a format that my n95-8Gb cannot decipher and it just renames the file.
As I read I generally read all my emails in the html, this is very frustrating....
Anybody got any ideas, help

Some users are experiencing difficulty opening certain docx files sent as email attachments. These files contain content controls to protect data in the document. Could someone please confirm that the content controls are the reason the files won't open.
These files open correctly when sent as doc files.

Auto saving email attachments using date email received as the name of the attachment file
I would like to be able to batch save hundreds of email attachments in my inbox to a specified folder and use the date and time email was received as the name of the file. i found sample script that would give it timestamp but would prefer date and time of receipt. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.I found the below script online but it does not seem to be naming correctly. it appears that the month always defaults to 12. perhaps somehow could suggest a fix?

Not receiving email with ETP.DAT file
I have two users that are not receiving the email from the blackberry.net domain that has the ETP.DAT file attached. I set a new activation password on my blackberry and received the email. I have tried activating these guys a dozen time. I deleted them from the BES and re-entered their BES profile still nothing. I am only having problems with these two. When I activated myself I was able to trace the email through our SMTP Server right to my mail box. We are a Lotus Notes camp. Can anyone think of something I can try?

Viewing Multi Page tiff files received as email attachments on the iPhone
I have spent hours trying to find a solution or a work-around to the problem of viewing multi page tiff ( .tif) email attachments on my iPhone 3G running 3.0. I have only ever been able to view the first page of these files.
Finally I decided to come up with my own solution. I have recently launched the website www.econvertimage.com. Anyone can now freely email tiff files to the site from their phone. These files are converted to pdf and then returned to the sender for viewing on their phone.
You can set up an auto forward for attachments coming from specific senders if you like. This way you will often receive the converted file at the same time as the original email. Visit the site for further details.
I hope this post may save others the frustration I've endured over the last few weeks looking for a solution.
I'm interested in future improvements people are keen to see for the site. I'll keep developing the functionality if there's a need. I look forward to receiving comments and feedback.
ThanksSounds perfect - is it operational? Sent a test message this morning, never received the PDF.

Hi,
I have an user that receives twice emails from a specific sender.
The sender is the company information department. They send newsletters to the company to a Distribution Group that has all email accounts in the company and this user receives it twice.
What could it be?It could be that the group has another group that is a member of, and so he's in two groups (parent and child or two child groups). Depending on where each list is expanded, it might not figure out that he's in there twice.

What does the attached files I email turn into dat files
when I send email or receive email with attachments such as pdf or .docx, the files are unreadable on my iphone and become dat files.
I have the same problem. I found that by saving the file to FILENAME.pdf and reopening with Preview or Adobe it works. I saw another post that suggested that long filenames that are forwarded to others are renamed with a .dat extension. I never had this problem until I upgraded to the latest MAC OS. Could that be the problem?

Suddenly, my Word docs are showing up on IPAD email as winmail.dat files
I've been sending myself word docs from Windows Outlook desktop email so I can work on documents on my IPAD while away from home. Worked fine until yesterday, and now my word2003 attached docs on Ipad email are showing up as unopenable winmail.dat files. I've done nothing different, so am not sure what is happening. Other people's emails with Word docx files are opening fine as are pdfs
Sorry, I can't help with why it is happening but there is an app available to read them.

Cannot receive some email attachments
I'm having a problem with just a few received emails not having an attachment that it was sent with. The attachment is an audio file smaller than 2 mb. I can send the audio file. I can get an email from the person, but not an email with the attachment. If the email has the attachment, it won't come to me at all. I can get it with it being forwarded by another person, and retrieving it from my Earthlink server with Thunderbird, but not with Mail. Also, I have 1 person with a hotmail account that I cannot get an email from, in Mail, or Thunderbird. I've checked all of my blocked sender lists, my rules, and spam filters. They don't show up in trash, junk mail folder, or anywhere else.
Anybody have suggestions?
Message was edited by: Ronald HighfillYeah, I'm going to contact Earthlink when I have a spare 30-40 minutes. I have already tried to get it through the webmail, and it doesn't show up at all, not even as deleted, moved to spam, or anything.
Thanks for the advice. -
Task Request being received as email attachments not tasks
We are using Outlook on Exchange Server and the Office version is 2013. I was training the employees in the company and showing them how to assign tasks. I was hoping
the task would appear as a task request so they could accept or decline the task request but the email came in with the task as an attachment.
I found an article which mentioned that it was something to do with Server setting but I cannot find the article again, but this is not that relevant as the article did not say
what needed to be changed (the writer was a Microsoft person).
Assigning tasks is something this company would like to do, but it is just not happening and I would be really grateful for some guidance that I can give them.Hi,
What’s the procedure when you assign task?
When I assign task to others, they can Accept or Decline this task in the message. If we attach this task as attachment, they will receive this message with task as attachment and just can view this task, no accept, no decline.

Linga Murthy MudigondaThe easiest way (and OS independent, so you don't need Outlook or blat or something like that) is to send the email and attachment from the database. Package utl_smtp won't let you do that, but with Java mail you can. So, after you generated your report, you can mail it using Java mail.
Everything is described very clearly in note 120994.1 on Metalink (How to Send E-mail With Attachments from PL/SQL Using Java Stored Procedures). -
When I click on "attach file" or "upload file" I always get a message...."Firefox is not responding". Then I have to close the program and open Internet Explorer. I would prefer using Firefox, can you tell me how to fix this problem?
I uninstalled Firefox, deleted all data, reinstalled and still have the same problem. I guess I'll go back to Internet Explorer.

Are there any apps that allow email attachments to be opened. I can't open wmv or any other attachments that I receive until I get to my computer. I have searched the apps catalog on my Palm Pre, but can't seem to locate anything that works.
Post relates to: Pre 2 p102eww (Verizon)Your Pre can open any attachment that has support for the file format.
MicroSoft's .wmv format is not supported. Page 142 of the Verizon Pre 2 User Guide states:
"You can view DRM-free videos that you receive as email attachments or
that you copy from your computer in the MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, MP4,
M4V, 3GP, 3GPP, 3G2, and 3GP2 formats. You can view videos you open in
a multimedia message in MP4 format. Videos play on your phone in
landscape orientation."
