PC Web-based contact list continually scrolls.

When accessing iCloud Contacts via the web on my WIN 8.1 PC, the contact list (center pane) is continuously scrolling to the top.
NO OTHER APP has this behavior.  This only happens w/ CHROME.  IE and FIREFOX do not exhibit this behavior.
SPECS:
WIN 8.1,
CHROME   30.0.1599.101 m
Firefox 24.0
IE  11.0.9600.16384
I have tried closing and re-opening CHROME: Same behavior.
I find it weird that this is happening in a web app.
And, yes, I already know that one solution is to use FIREFOX or IE.  But, that doesn't explain/correct this anomalous behavior, which bother me as a possible indicator of a problem.
Also, I have WIN, MAC, and LINUX, so pls no "The solution is to leave the Evil Empire" responses.... <grin>"
Thanks in advance!

If this is happening when using Chrome as your browser, increase the font size in Chrome as explained here: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/96810?hl=en.

  • Non web-based to-do list

I don't have wireless access to the internet all of the time yet would still like to be able to manage a to-do list on my ipod touch. Any suggestions? All of the apps online seem to be web-based.

Create a dummy contact and put your to do list in the notes section. Or wait until after February (when the Software Development Kit will be released) and see if anyone comes out with a non-web based To Do app.
Personally, I go with the small paper notebook....

  • Continuous scrolling image List

I'm building a mobile app. In the app, I am calling an api to fetch top 20 photos (api only allows 20 at a time) and displaying it in a tiled 2 column list/grid. When the user reaches the 10th/last row I'd like call the api again and bring up the next 20 images and so on so it seems like it's a continuous scroll.
Is there some kind of a end of list event that can be used for this or is there some other method to get this done?
Also, it would be great if I can invoke the api when the user is around the 5th row or 15th row and so on so that the images show up before the user reaches the end of the list.

You can detect when the scrollbar is scrolled:

  • Web based vs email discussion lists

This might not be the right forum, i.e., Safari works great (and if there is a better forum for this, please direct me). I cannot understand why some people cannot tolerate web based discussion groups (much like the apple.com discussion site): they insist on using email discussion groups. I don't mind using email, but I'd rather have everything stored on some web site so I don't need to get extra emails and it's much easier (usually) to search for something on a web based discussion site. Is it like some people can only use cash and cannot use credit cards? Or is there something else I am missing?

    I'd rather have everything
stored on some web site so I don't need to get extra
emails and it's much easier (usually) to search for
something on a web based discussion site.
Email can be an awfully lot faster and more efficient than logging into various websites, plowing through lists of messages in various forums, finding new ones, waiting for servers and browsers to do their thing, etc. The mailing lists I subscribe to have extremely fast and accurate web-based archive searches that go back as far as anyone would want.
On the other hand, groups with a high volume of lengthy messages can become very tedious via email, and I think these are better off in web format.
The important thing is not the format but what you need to accomplish. Anyone who thinks they can get help with Apple stuff from some mailing list or newsgroup that comes anywhere near what is available from this and other web-based forums is badly mistaken, I think.

  • Best Advice for a working web-based email, calendar and contacts sync system

I am setting up an office with people that use Blackberry curves. They all have Gmail but that is not important at this point - what I am hoping to achieve is a working (note the operative word: working) solution for keeping a calendar, contacts, and email all in sync on the Blackberry devices. Google promises much but fails to deliver a working solution, their system is frought with problems form errors to duplicated events and contacts to slowing down the phone. Does anyone have an alternative scenario using some other free web-based solution that actually works well? Feel free to post your working solution!
    Thanks!

  • Hi, has anyone had an issue where their iMac has started sending spam emails to all in their contact list. This has just started happening to mine. The emails are about starting a new begining with a link to I suppose some dodgey web site

My iMac has started sending emails to all those in my contacts list. It's the same email friends are getting but there is nothing in my sent box. Have I got a virus (don't want to mention that word!!) or something on my Mac and how can I get rid of it?
    Thanks

I had a similar issue with a Hotmail account, until I changed the password. Good luck.

  • Web-based data visualization tools

Hi.  I originally posted this question to the LV forum, but I am going to modify my question because I think Diadem may be a good solution for us.
I am embarking on a interesting research project that will involve recording lots of physiological signals from patient monitors in a hospital.  I will be recording signals like BP, spO2, Pulserate, ECG, etc.
Right now, my main design concern is how to give clinicians access to the data after it is recorded.  I think Diadem might be a good solution, but I really want it to be web-based.
    Here is my wish list:
    - Store the data securely, where access can be restricted and controlled (e.g. user must login)
    - Allow users (who are granted access) to login and view historical data via a simple web browser
    - Allow users to pick datasets amd zoom, scroll, etc.
    - Allow user to view data in stacked plots (e.g. so they can see multiple signals simultaneously on the screen and scroll the time axis)
    - Allow user to annotate data (e.g. add comments at specific timestamps)
Do you have any reccomendations for a web-based data visualization tool like this?  Do you think Diadem meet my needs?

    Hello J Osborne,
You application sounds like a great fit for DIAdem and the DataFinder, with the exception of the Web-based nature of the application. We currently do not offer a native web interface to DIAdem and it's features, but there are ways to accomplish that using established technologies such as remote clients ...
Here are my comments to your individual questions:
    - Store the data securely, where access can be restricted and controlled (e.g. user must login)
    * The DataFinder Server (which works with DIAdem) technology can be used to give specific users access to only data they are supposed to see, so we can cover this part of your application
    - Allow users (who are granted access) to login and view historical data via a simple web browser
    * This would have to be achieved via a remote client solution, since DIAdem offers no native Web client
    - Allow users to pick datasets amd zoom, scroll, etc.
    * This is something that the DIAdem NAVIGATOR and DIAdem VIEW are very good at, including the ability to search for data sets based on specific key words, patient names, etc. and the ability to look at multiple data sets simultaneously in multiple windows with zooming and scrolling.
    - Allow user to view data in stacked plots (e.g. so they can see multiple signals simultaneously on the screen and scroll the time axis)
    * That's DIAdem VIEW, sounds like a perfect fit: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7384
    - Allow user to annotate data (e.g. add comments at specific timestamps)
    * DIAdem VIEW has the ability to highlight events with cursors, and we could easily add the ability to add comments through a custom dialog and a short script. We could prepare and demo this feature for you ...
I would be happy to discuss your application with you in more detail. Feel free to contact me at (800) 531-5066 (ask for Otmar Foehner) or via email at    otmar DOT foehner AT ni DOT com.

  • Please Skype make your own web based imo.im and IM...

This is a quick brainstorm idea
1st off I know of skype being integrated with outlook. Though it doesn't seem to have an appealing feel or features that some are looking for in web based chatting sites.
2nd Its likely sure that Skype can have facebook also integrated with having contacts into contacts under facebook.
3rd I like how IM + and the old imo.im was set up. I enjoy the settings in having and option to have ever chat and chatgroup open up for in a window. This made is capable to see what other friends where saying in the chat without having to continually switch in skypes software just to see what is going on. This made it really easy to multitask and stay active with friends.
4th it was enjoyable to have a contacts list and see what friends were under facebook, skype, MSN, etc. This also helped prevent missed messages when trying to switch from different tabs in browsers. (Same thing also applies with having windows tab in ways)
5th I don't have to log in to my other account to check im messages on all my other social sites.
6th I can log in quick easy check my messages and chat with all my friends or clients quickly
7th No more having to try and download skype to install, update, and failing updates. In which means trying to fix skype when it crashes or trying to get it to run on computers.
8th imo.im dropped everyones favorite thirdparty services recently andare desperately looking for a new service.
9th skype worked great with imo.im and that is why they used it. Until it got dropped
10th Competition is growing and maybe its about skype gets into the competition in on IM websites. Before its too late.

You can IM and call from a website with your Skype contacts already now by using the Outlook.com Skype plugin. More information here: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12316/what-is-the-skype-web-plugin-and-how-do-i-install-it-in-out...

  • When sending email messages from iPhone,iMac, or iPad, email address automatically added to my contacts list on iPhone.  How do I trace this down and stop this auto addition of email addresses to my contacts list?

I am not sure what generates the email address as a contact, be it the iPhone or iMac.  I use iCloud to sync up my contacts/address book.  This appears to happen when I am using Mac Mail on my iMac,  but I have no clue where to begin to look to stop this auto addition.  I have looked in Mail preferences on my iMac and in my iPhone settings, but have found nothing that "automatically add email address to contacts list".
Can anyone provide guidance?  Web search has been fruitless ( I am guessing I am not using the right key words for my search).

    Hey jpoolewarren!
You can delete contacts by following the instructions in this link:
Contacts at a glance - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph3e0ca2db
Delete a contact.  Go to the contact’s card, then tap Edit. Scroll down, then tap Delete Contact.

  • Email/contact list help

    Hello everyone.
For those of you that know me, you know that I lost my web guy and inherited this site jackiesbar.com. My changes so far are at jackiesbar.com/Untitled-3.html. Needless to say, I really have no clue what I'm doing. I've been learning what I can in the few hours I have to learn html with Dreamweaver and whatever other tutorials people like Nadia have sent me to. Thank you very much by the way.
Okay now here's where I'm stuck, forms. I'm trying to create a contact list page. http://www.jackiesbar.com/MailingList.html. This is what I have so far. I put in where I want the info to go. [email protected] Probably not possible, I'm thinking I read somewhere that it has to go to my server and then forwarded from their. But anyhow I'm stuck. It seems once the info is entered it opens whatever email application the person uses and then they just have to reenter the info anyway so what's the point? And most people don't even have email applications now adays, It's mostly web based it seems. All I'd like to do is make something for them to fill out, hit send or submit, I get the info in my email, and they get sent back to the main page. Is this possible? Can someone please help me out with this?
    Thank you
    Beau

The problem with telling people to search when they ask a question that may have been asked before, is the next time someone does do a search, they get a result telling them to search!  : )
However, the basic answer is correct - you need a form handling script that will process the form input and output it to your email address. Having said that, there are various ways to implement that depending of other various things.
As noted above, you do need to know what scripts your web host will support.  But without knowing for sure, PHP is a safe bet as it's pretty universal and runs on all server platforms.
I don't have any of these scripts to give you at this time, that's because I use and extension to do all my form mail processing.  It's called Universal Email from webassist, works on any server platform and you can get it working with little to no hand coding.  But, it's not free.
Other than that, the only thing I can offer is how the process works from a functional standpoint.
    1.  The user enters data and the form validates that input before submitting as you already have in place.
    2. The page submits "back to itself" - meaning the same page reloads, but this time it takes the form input and processes it, and sends it to the web server which sends the email.  Part of the script is the recipient of the email.
    3. When that script completes, if redirects to a pre-defined confirmation page, or any other page of your choosing.

  • Web Based I Chat??

I have a .mac account and Love my Mac.. At work, i am on a PC and want to use my iChat. Does anyone know of a web based i chat for windows? I use the web version of AIM (we can't install programs on the computer).
    Thanks.
    Keith

.mac is AIM. Try logging onto the AIM web thingie with your .mac username and password.
Alternatively you could always try http://www.meebo.com
Theoretically these should work, but i've no .mac account so haven't tested it.
If they don't you could always use a work around. Opening a Gmail account will give you a Google Talk account. Following the steps listed in other posts you could add your .mac account to Gtalk via an AIM transport. Then you would be able to IM your contacts on Gmails web page.
A bit convoluted but it'll work if you can't get the AIM or Meebo web clients to work.

  • Lost CONTACT list after SIM card change requested by operator

Dear All, this is my first post, so please bear with me.  I am recurring to this forum to ask for HELP on an issue that is really annoying, specially after spending over an hour with a BlackBerry Support Person who tried many steps to solve the issue without any luck [it was obvious this person did not have the technical expertise to handle the problem at hand].  Here's the story:  Last week I received on the mail a new SIM card with a letter indicating I had to replace my "old" SIM card with this new one, after receiving a text message from the operator.  On Friday I received the SMS and proceeded with the change.  Prior to exchanging SIM Cards, I asked the Call Center Agent if this would cause any problems with my 8520 BB.  The answer was NO, all the configuration info remains on the device, and not on the SIM card.  Well, this was not the case and some applications lost their configuration: email and contacts. Curiously, the BBM service was unaltered.  So I would like to know how can I get back my Contact List? (the email service was quickly and easily reconfigured).  Apparently my old Contact list is somewhere in the Device's memory... but a New Contact List has been created after the SIM Card change.  I know this because when I press the Call History, all the contacts' info is available ... but when pressing the Contacts Address I can only see 1 contact.  Any ideas???? Thank You All.

This is a fun little (and I mean little) problem. Let's walk through it here.
    1) Some applications lost email and contact configurations.
    A) I'm not entirely sure what you mean in particular as far as the email problem goes. Were the e-mails still set up, but you weren't receiving them? Most likely because the new SIM card contained a new ID number. If you were to go to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Tables, press the menu button, and hit Register...that should fix your problem there.
    2) BBM Service was unaltered.
    A) This is because the BBM service is reliant on the PIN number unique to your device (not your SIM card).
    3) Lost contact list, but still showing in the call history.
    A) Your call history is just data stored on the device, the only time your contact history is access when sending and making a call is just a simple check to see if you have the information stored already to match a name to it. The data stored in history is it's own entity. I explained this in a slightly confusing manner, but it's slightly irrelevant.
It's entirely possible that your contact list was stored on your SIM card and not to your device. Try this out:
-Insert your old SIM card into your phone
-Open up your contacts and hit the menu button
-Scroll down and select "SIM Phone Book"
-Here you should see the list of contacts if they were truly stored on your SIM and not your phone.
-Hit the menu button again, and choose "Copy all to Contacts"
Once the process is complete,  you may reinsert the new SIM card and continue on using the phone as normal.
    Hope this helps!
Disclaimer: I'm just a regular user like the rest of you. I have spent a lot of time learning the limitations of the Blackberries to know how to fix most problems. If I have suggested a fix, please give a kudo and mark as a solution!

  • Breaking News: Palm Pre loses customers contact lists and finds entertainment in ignoring desperate cries for help!

I wish the subject matter was not true , but it is. I lost all my company contacts last week and have been pleading for help from Palm for over a week, I have already written a link based on Minkas complaint. I have heard stories about bad servers ect ect through the grapevine but the bottom line is , no matter what has happened....Palm has not honored any of the 3 promises to call me back that had been arranged at a Sprint Store with the help of the employees over the speaker phone, I head the promise, the employees heard the promise and over a week later I still have not heard back from Palm. I have lost important business contacts for my labor supply, my material supply and a handfull of contacts that I can not replace because they are not in the phone book....Bottom line, Palm does not care about you or the company your run, the support is lacking and almost comical...can you believe I was told the only way to contact or make a complaint about the company is to write a blog....If somebody has an issue with my personal products they can talk to me 24 hours a day, yet Palm has no such contact or even a official form I can fill out....THE ONLY WAY TO FILE A COMPLAINT IS BY A BLOGG....and hope somebody reads about this at Palm and cares enough to call back....this company acts like they believe in witchcraft and the only way they can handle a issue is that it must be delivered to them by devine intervention....I have never complained about a product in my life, but I bought this phone to help my business and what I got was abandoned, ignored and left to rot while they continously ignore me and my situation. Here are some things you should get used to if you have a problem with Palms products..1. Wait 72 hours and a level 3 or 4 tech will call you back but they do not  2. We will escalate your problem and you will be called back in 72 hours or less but they wont.  3. No, you may not contact the CEO of the company or anybody in authority. 4. If you have a complaint u have to write a blog because nobody specializes ln complaints about service. I understand problems happen , but a company that ignores customers begging for help almost every day because it affects a companies income... the money needed to pay bills and support families....this kind of company will watch you fall over a cliff and perish without a second thought....I will never trust Palm again, they will take your money and abandon you in your most dire time of need. They have done it to me, and as of tonight at 11 pm they told me somebody will call me in 72 hours.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

To anybody who has lost a contact list from palm my deepest sympathies go out to you. Be prepared to be ignored and dismissed by Palm. Today is Sunday November 9 and this is the 9th day I have waited for a call back from a level 3 tech but I want to share with you what happened today. I actually got a call from Palm but it was not from a tech...after pleading with the online help last night and explaining I have been ignored and need to speak to a tech person guess who called me ? It was the standard help line that you can call listed on this website...He had no clue at all how to help but promised me again (This would be promise 5 from online chat help and Im still also on promise 3 given at the Sprint store) needless to say he said that because of the serious nature of my request and the time I have waited he would talk to his manager and make sure I was contacted today...I waited and once again received no call back but what was really disturbing was he told me that the Sprint manager and the 2 employees that assisted me at the store were a bunch of liars. He told me no calls were ever made to Palm, even though we all listened on the speaker phone to the Palm representative each of the 3 times I went back to the store for help....I go to the store on greenback in citrus heights, Ca  each time they have been fantastic in trying to help me and each time they have spent 30-40 minutes trying to clear my problems up and at the end of each conversation they make Palm promise to call me back with a level 3 or 4 tech. So...today they not only lie to me again but they call the employees at Sprint a bunch of liars telling me that no records of a call back have ever been made...once again Palm continues to abandon the customer and also offer up Sprint as the sacrificial lamb. As bad as the problem is, I noticed some disturbing facts again ( I am now on my 3rd palm pre in 3 months) My problems started over a week ago when all info was lost.Once I had the drive wiped and only got 6 contacts back.I actually entered 3 new contacts on my phone by hand  ( I do use any Google or any other site ect) long story short I got a new phone on Friday the 6th of November because of constant lock up and inability to answer...when I downloaded my Palm profile it downloaded only 6 contacts again (they lost aprox 90) but it once again lost the 3 new contacts I had in my phone for 5 days ( and yes all autoback ups were on) I see more and more people are having these problems and I want to let you know that Palm does not care about you or any issues you have that require level 3 help.( Please note if you look up level 3 help at Palm its refers you to a webpage about Santa Clause....because neither exist)..you should take a deep breath, get in line and hope maybe you will be luckier than I have been...I really saw the writing on the wall when they started calling Sprint a bunch of liars....I think Palm is pulling off the biggest pyramid scheme the industry has seen in years. They got the money and now they are nowhere to be found. Here is the bottom line once again...Something is still wrong on the servers...they continue to lose contact information and they know they have a problem. I speak the truth when I say this... Palm does not care about you or your business, If your really serious about your business and your responsible for the income of employees and families you should avoid Palm at all costs. After 9 Days of Begging for help I feel like a total chump for trusting Palm and believing in this company.
