Pc won't connect to iPhone hotspot

My pc will not connect to my iPhone hotspot. It connects to other networks and I can get my laptop online through the hotspot. Help!

I stand corrected.  This is what I found in the manual
Personal Hotspot
You can use Personal Hotspot (iPhone 4 or later) to share an Internet connection with a
computer or other device—such as an iPod touch, iPad, or other iPhone—connected to your
iPhone via Wi-Fi. You can also use Personal Hotspot to share an Internet connection with a
computer connected to iPhone via Bluetooth or USB. Personal Hotspot works only if iPhone is
connected to the Internet over the cellular data network.
Note:  This feature may not be available in all areas. Additional fees may apply. Contact your
carrier for more information.
Share an Internet connection: Go to Settings > General > Cellular and tap Set Up Personal
Hotspot—if it appears—to set up the service with your carrier.
After you turn on Personal Hotspot, other devices can connect in the following ways:
• W-Fi: On the device, choose your iPhone from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
• USB: Connect your iPhone to your computer using the cable that came with it. In your
computer’s Network preferences, choose iPhone and configure the network settings.
• Bluetooth: On iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth. To pair and connect
iPhone with your device, refer to the documentation that came with your computer.
When a device is connected, a blue band appears at the top of the iPhone screen. Personal
Hotspot remains on when you connect with USB, even when you aren’t actively using the
Internet connection.
Note:  The Personal Hotspot icon  appears in the status bar of iOS devices using
Personal Hotspot.
Change the Wi-Fi password for iPhone: Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot > Wi-Fi Password,
then enter a password of at least 8 characters.
Monitor your cellular data network usage: Go to Settings > General > Usage > Cellular Usage.

  • Since I upgraded my operating system my iPad won't connect to iPhone hotspot

    Hi,
I have recently purchased an iPad to work alongside my iPhone 4S and found the "hotspot" feature really useful
However I know find that it doesn't work.
I turn on the iPhone hotspot and the iPad, sees it as a Network which tries to connect to but never makes it. The circular wheel just keeps going round and round.
The iPhone says "Personal Hotspot 1 connection ", but I can't get onto the internet with the iPad.
The only thing that has changed is I have recently upgraded the operating systems on both items
    Is that just a co-incidence?
    What has gone wrong?
    Thanks
    Kevin

  • Photosmart Plus B209a-m Won't connect to iPhone Hotspot

This is my first time to post.  Hopefully, someone can help me.  My friend is using a Verizon iPhone as a hotspot.  He can connect 5 devices to the iPhone hotspot.  When I attempted to connect his Photosmart Plus B209a-m to the hotspot, the laptop loses the wireless connection to the hotspot.  The printer installation wizard gets to the point where it finds the SSID and I enter the security phrase.  When the install process reaches about 40%, the his laptop loses the wireless connection.
The only way to reconnect the laptop to the iPhone is to disable the printer wireless radio or turn the printer off.
The hotspot uses WPA-PSK security.  I noticed that when the wizard found the hotspot it showed WPA security not WPA-PSK.
Is there an update for the printer so that it can connect using WPA-PSK? I could not find one.  Or is there something else that I need to do to make the printer connect to the iPhone hotspot.
I worked with Verizon support then with Apple support but since we can connect 2 laptops and a Smartphone to the hotspot, they say it is a printer issue.
    Thanks.

Are you sure the hotspot uses WPA and not WPA2 (with or without the suffixes of PSK or AES is all the same)?
The printer will probably not connect to WPA2.  Is there a way to change the iPhone encryption?
Actually, is there a way to remove the encryption altogether for testing purposes?
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • MBA won't connect to iPhone or Jambox via Bluetooth, but works with bluetooth Apple Mouse

MBA won't connect to iPhone or Jambox via Bluetooth, but works fine with bluetooth Apple Mouse. When trying to pair with the iPhone it says "The Bluetooth Network is unavailable. There was an error connecting to your device. Make sure the device is turned on and in range." When trying to connect to the Jambox it says "Bluetooth audio failed. There was an error connecting to your headset. Make sure it is turned on and in range. The audio portion of the program you were using may have to be restarted." The iPhone and Jambox pair together fine, and I have paired with both the iPhone and the Jambox easily in the past. I haven't updated anything - it just stopped working with these two devices. This is very frustrating.

I could not pair with Uconnect on a 2011 Jeep after upgrading to iOS 8.2 on an iPhone 6. After shutting off iCloud and resetting network settings I was able to successfully pair the phone to Uconnect

  • IPad mini won't connect to wifi, but does connect to iPhone hotspot.

I have a 1st gen iPad mini. It suddenly didn't connect to any of my known networks (House, work, parents). It does see the wifi signal but does not connect. I did a reset to all network settings, and it only connects to my iPhone hotspot but when I try to put the password for all the other wifi networks it gives me a message that the password is incorrect, which I'm sure is not right because I tried it on the other devices. I made a full restore to factory settings so it's runing iOS 8.1, it is like new, but still the same problem.

Hi Maybe it's a hardware problem or a modem problem. I think you need to take to Apple Store they may exchange but you will have to pay part of the cost if over 1 year old. Cheers Brian

  • IPad won't connect to personal hotspot

I have an iPhone 4S that I use as a personal hotspot for my iPad when I'm away from home. My bf has an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 that will automatically connect to my personal hotspot without me having to do anything with my 4S. My iPad however requires that I unlock my 4S, go to the personal hotspot settings page and then it'll connect. I'm trying to figure out why the iPhone 4 connects to the personal hotspot automatically when the iPad won't. Both connect via wifi. Bluetooth is too slow with the personal hotspot, so I just don't use it.

I was having the same issue. I starting searching and found a few people who suggested turning up the brightness on your iPad. I thought what in the world would that have to do with connection to my hotspot but I tried I and it worked. My brightness was set to about 50% and I uped it to around 75% and it worked. Try it anyway. Hope it will work for you as well .........

  • Satellite Pro A200 failing to connect with iphone hotspot via wifi

Apologies if I get some of the technical jargon wrong but I pretty useless when it comes to IT issues.
I have a Satellite Pro A200 and had problems connecting to various wifi connections.
The computer would see the wifi connection and connect to it but i wasn't able to connect to the internet.
The office issue has now been sorted by our IT support guy (security settings on the new router we too complex for my PC or something like that) but he wasn't able to solve the problem of not being able to connect to my iphone to use the 'hotspot' feature via wifi.
Does anyone know a way of solving this or is it a simple fact of the laptop being too old and really needs updating?
Thanks for any assistance anyone is able to give.

    > Does anyone know a way of solving this or is it a simple fact of the laptop being too old and really needs updating?
This is not a question of notebook age
As far as I know not all mobile phone providers support this
You should firstly ask your mobile provider if you can use the tethering function.
If this would be supported my mobile provider, then you have to connect the iphone to the notebook firstly
For that youve got two options: you could use the BT connection (in such case check if notebook supports BT too) or via USB cable provided with the iPhone.
(PS: As far as I know tethering is support by iOS3.0 and higher)
After the iphone has been connected to the notebook you need to enable the tethering on iphone.
Under Settings -> Network you should see the option internet tethering this need to be enabled.
Now you should be able to see that in Network & sharing Center of the control panel.

  • New itunes 11.1 won't connect to iphone 4s ios6.

Just updated itunes and now it won't connect to my iphone 4s with ios 6.  Gets an error that says "iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later."  Neither reconnecting or trying again later works.  Have also rebooted my iphone.  I need to do a sync and backup before loading IOS 7 and probably buying an iphone 5S.  Anyone got any ideas?
My desktop OS is Windows 7 patched up to date.  64-bit.

Yup, I finally wised up and rebooted my desktop.  That solved the problem.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • IPad 3 with iOS 6 won't connect to Wifi Hotspot

I have a new iPad running iOS 6.01.  It connects to wifi networks perfectly.  I also own a Blackberry 9900 that is capable of running a wifi hotspot.  The iOS6 iPad will not connect to my hotspot.
It is NOT the hotspot that is the problem. PCs connect to it as does my Android tablet.  In fact I tried an iPad 2 with iOS v5.x and it connected instantly as well.
This is an iOS 6 problem I am positive.  Any ideas anyone?  Reseting network connections does not work.
    Thanks,
    Shawn

I tried the method above several times however I had to refine it using the following method:
Once I received the message on the iPad settings window "unable to connect to network" I unticked the hotspot  option on the blackberry. The mobile network and Wi-Fi boxes on your blackberry should both remain ticked, retick the hotspot box on your blackberry and only when the word "connecting" appears next to the box select the join button on the network settings on your iPad or choose your hotspot in the network list.
You should now be able to switch between your Wi-Fi networks and your hotspot, if this does not automatically happen then Repeat of the above process waiting for the word "connecting" before joining the hotspot network.
Now you're not forced to buy an iPhone!!!

  • New iPad won't connect to Mobile Hotspot using WPA or WPA2

I have a new iPad running iOS 6.01.  It connects to wifi networks perfectly.  I also own a Blackberry 9790 that is capable of running a wifi hotspot.  When I try to connect my iPad to the mobile hotspot when WPA or WPA2 Encryption is used the iPad cannot connect.  If I change the Encrypstion to WEP I am able to connect the iPad and wifi works on it.
Is there a reason the new iPad won't connect to a mobile hotspot that's using WPA/WPA2?  Is there a way to resolve this issue?
I am able to connect my MacBook Pro to the mobile hotspot using WPA/WPA2 so I know that it's not my phone or the hotspot not working properly.
    Thanks

It appears as though I fixed my own problem...I hadn't yet tried restarting my blackberry or my iPad since I had been trying to setup the mobile hotspot and connect the iPad.  Anyways, I restarted both devices and then tried connecting using WPA/WPA2 and it worked.
iPad is now connecting to my mobile hotspot using WPA/WPA2 with no problems.
Maybe try doing the same if you haven't.

  • My IPad original's wifi stopped working and won't connect to any hotspot.  What should I do?

I have been using my IPad regularly and it would connect wifi at any hotspot including my home.  Now over the last couple weeks, it will not connect to any hotspot and says it cannot find an internet connection.  I have reset my wifi in the settings and updated the operating system to 4.3.5; and it still will not connect.  Before I take it in to be fixed, any other suggestions?

You can start with this support article about troubleshooting WiFi on an iOS device.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
Normally I would also suggest that you update your iOS to version 5 which is out now, but you may want to hold off on that and see if you can resolve the WiFi issue with the troubleshootings steps in the article first.

  • IPhone 4S won't connect to iPhone on MacBook after iOS6 update

I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS6 yesterday and just tried plugging it into my MacBook. It comes up that iTunes can't read my iPhone because I have to download newer version of iTunes 10.7. I downloaded 10.7 and when I tried installing it, it says I need to update my software (I have OS X 10.5.8). When I go to software updates it says my software is already up to date. So I went to Apple - Support - Downloads and downloaded OS X 10.6.8 and when I tried installing that it said I needed to have a previous 10.6 version of OS X. So now, I cannot connect my iPhone to my iTunes on my laptop because I cannot download the new iTunes because I cannot update my software. Can anyone help? PLEASE!!

  • IPhone 4 won't connect to verizon hotspot wifi

I have a Verizon WiFi hotspot at work - my AT&T iPhone will not hold the connection (I work in a high-rise and there is virtually no AT&T signal.)  It keeps asking for the password, but won't accept or connect.  Sometimes it works fine, other times not at all.  I have no problems with other WiFi.

Try changing the broadcast channel on the modem - you'll have to log in to the configuration page in order to do that.

  • Since update, computer won't connect to iPhone personal hotspot through USB cable

    any solution ?

  • Iphone 6 won't connect to Verizon hotspot

My Iphone 6 will not connect to my Verizon hotspot 890L yet my Iphone 5 does no problem. The 6 error message says that the password is incorrect but it isn't. I've never changed the password, it's been the same since I've had the hotspot and I even confirmed it by checking on the hotspot itself for the current password. Is this a common problem with the Iphone 6? I've updated the iOS to 8.0.2, I have reset network settings, restarted the hotspot and the Iphone and nothing, it keeps saying the password is wrong.

    Sophia888 wrote:
No. I don't even know how to change the password on the device. It's been the same since I've had it and the password works on the Iphone 5 and my iPad Air.
    It's worth a try.
