Pc won't recognize ipad

My iPad is not recognized on any computer, when plugging it in using the USB cable.  I've tried several different cords, and PC's, with and without iTunes.  When I plug it in, nothing happens.  It will charge with the plug-in adapter, although, not the 2-amp iPad version, only with an iPod or iPhone charger.  Very weird.  I want to update to iOS5 but can't because I can't connect to iTunes.  And if I restore it, and it still doesn't connect, then I just have a worthless paperweight.  Help!

What type of computer do you have a mac or pc?

I'm having a similar problem. Perhaps more complex. I just downloaded the 10.6.3 and it didn't solve the problem for my iPhone 5.
I have the new iPhone 5 and iTunes is asking for iTunes 7.0 in order to recognize the phone. I tried to download iTunes 7.0 but an error comes up stating that I need the 10.6.8. Well I tried to download the 10.6.8 and an error message came up saying that I need minimum of 10.6. So now I'm confused....
These are the error messages in order.
    1. The iPhone “iPhone” cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes.
    2. This update requires Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or higher.
    3. This update requires Mac OS X version 10.6.
Will I have to pay for the 10.6?
    Thanks so much in advance.

  • Itunes won't recognize ipad first generation

Itunes is updated. Recognizes iPhone 5.
My first gen iPad went on the blitz after the update and would kill off after five minutes, no matter if it was fully charged or not. I attempted the obvious restarts and resets. Reset back to factory settings via iTunes. After that it requests to be registered again, however it will not go through. Attempt to hook it to iTunes as suggested but it eventually says iTunes is "Unable to help" and isn't recognized. Attempted the home/off reboot, plug to computer/hold home key, but iTunes does not recognize iPad at all in this state.
I've read that some suggest this is a software issue and that Apple suggests this is a hardware issue. What are my options at this stage? Can this be repaired at all?

  • ITunes won't recognize iPad in Windows 7 64bit

I am posting this in the hope it will help other people who have this problem. I spent 7 months trying to find out why iTunes wouldn't recognize my iPad. The only way it was recognized, is if I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it.Once I turned off my computer, the next day when I turned it back on, it wouldn't recognize the iPad.
A month ago I bought a iPad 2, and I had 3 months of phone support. Nothing the technition suggested worked. We went through all the fixes that are documented in Apple's solution pages. He decided to send it up to the engineers. They asked for me to give them about 4MB of info from my computer from various hidden folders. The engineers told him they noticed I had 5 Malware programs and an antivirus program. Also that my chipset drivers were out of date or misconfigured.
They told him to start by uninstalling each malware and antivirus, one by one, keeping iTunes open, but unpluggin the iPad before uninstalling, to see if it connected. I uninstalled the first one, which is called Super Malware, and it didn't work, then I uninstalled Avast (free, it requires a computer restart after uninstalling, so you have to open iTunes again), and I plugged in the iPad, and voila, it worked.
All that time, Avast was keeping my iPad from being recognized in iTunes. A few Antivirus programs interfere with iOS devices. If you are having trouble, try uninstalling antivirus and malware programs, one by one, to see if they are the culprit. It is time consuming doing it one by one, but it's the only way to find the one that is causing the problems. We never got to the chipset problem, so I don't know if that would help anyone, and you should be careful when playing around with upgrading drivers for chipsets. If you do, make sure you know what you are doing.

Thanks! I had the exact same problem. i'd reinstall iTunes and it would work for a sync or two, then nothing. Uninstalling Avast worked!

  • ITunes for PC won't recognize iPad

Running Vista Home Premium 32 bit.  No version of iTunes (version 10, 11, or even the one just released) will recognize iPad1.  AMDS service says Starting but never completes. Get an AMDS AppCrash message on Fault Module Name rpcrt4.dll.  It used to work on an early version of iTunes, but something has changed on the computer or the Apple software.
Does anyone know what to look for to resolve this issue?
Device Manager shows both Apple Pad and Apple Mobile Device USB Driver under Portable Devices.
Just in case a registry cleaner program deleted a needed entry, does anyone know if there are any specific Registry entries that must be present for AMDS service to start completely? How about required services? AMDS service is the only service that won't work. There are no other problems with the PC.
    Can anyone help?

Does anyone know of anything I can try? Can anyone answer any of my questions above?

  • ITunes won't recognize iPad mini?

Whenever I plug my iPad mini into my PC, the PC will recognize the iPad mini. I can open folders and view files. But the iPad will NOT open in iTunes. I have no way to sync anything.
I've tried restarting the computer and rebooting the iPad. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. iPad mini is running iOS 7.1.1 so up to date and everything. I'm getting REALLY frustrated over here.

  • Itunes won't recognize ipad as a device

iTunes recognises my ipod which is great, it shows under My Devices on the left of iTunes.  But when I plug in my iPad Mini I get an error message saying the device is unknown and to unplug it and plug it in again but that doesn't work.  It won't give any instructions as to how you get iTunes (on the PC) to recognise the iPad.

Which version of Itunes do you have?

  • Computer won't recognize iPad 1

Alright, so I plug my iPad 1 in to put some music on and neither the iPad nor the computer recognize it. I had recently updated my compputer so I restarted it. That when it booted up it still didn't work so I thought it was the cord. I tried 4 different cords, including the one that came with the iPad and still nothing. I tried all the USB ports and even tried an external USB port. The computer recognized the USB port but still not the iPad. I just synched my iPod touch so I know its not the computer, and I tried it on my Mac. The charging on my iPad still works, it just says Not Charging, however this problem has been going on for awhile. I reset the iPad and the settings and that still didn't work. Any help?

    Hi,
If iTunes doesn't recognize the iPad when it's connected to a computer, follow the instructions here.
If the iPad is unresponsive, follow the instructions here.
Try charging via the power adapter and cable that came with your iPad and connect to a wall outlet. Let it charge 100% before trying to sync using iTunes.

  • Several Macs won't recognize iPad anymore

I bought a 32GB iPad about 3 weeks ago. For the first 2 weeks - the iPad was great. I was able to sync it to my iMac/iTunes daily, and never had any issues with the iPad. Then for some reason this week, my iPad was no longer recognized by my iMac/iTunes.
Over the past few days - I've followed everything I've read about how to try to get these two to see one another. Some of the things I've tried multiple times:
    1. Did a hard shut down/reboot of the iPad
    2. Shut down/rebooted the iMac
    3. Used a different Mac computer to try and recognize the iPad - but it didn't
    4. Re-installed iTunes 9.1 on my iMac
    5. Tried hooking in the iPad into the 3 different USB 2.0 ports I have on iMac.
    6. My battery is fully charged - and I stuck it in to charge for 20min just in case.
    7. Reset to factory settings and dumped all of my previous files and settings
And by doing this - now the iPad can't get past the screen asking me to hook it into iTunes. Anyone have any other suggestions? I'd appreciate it - as I believe I've tried to troubleshoot everything I've read about.
    Thanx,
    Eric

So the end result was this (in case anyone else has the same issue)... is that Apple didn't know why my iPad stopped being seen by other computers.
I took my iPad to the Genius Bar. They pretty much did everything I had already done. Even tried hooking my iPad into their Macs... and "nothing". So they ended up exchanging out my 3 week old iPad for a new one. I have to admit - the guys at the Apple Store were really cool about it. They didn't give me any hassles what so ever about the iPad - and were just as perplexed as I was about it.
Hope this helps anyone who is pulling out their hair, trying to figure out why their iPad doesn't sync anymore.
    Cheers,
    Eric

  • Configurator won't recognize ipad

I am trying to use configurator. When I plug in ipad and click prepare it just spin and ipad is not recognized. However, it is recognized in the supervise tab. I need to know how to start over with this so I can set up the ipads for our class carts. Any help is appreciated as I am at a stand still.

    Hi vinny24
When you Supervise an iPad, it will no longer appear on the Prepare screen. So it sounds like you've already "supervised" iPad #1.
To start over, you will first want to unsupervised iPad #1. With iPad #1 plugged in to your comptuer, go to the Supervise tab and select your iPad. Then right-click (or ctrl+click) the iPad and select the option to "Unsupervise." This will wipe your iPad and have it ready to start over again. In a few minutes you'll see the iPad on the Prepare tab.
So as a rule of thumb...
Any "unsupervised" iPads (new, out of the box, or wiped) will appear on the Prepare tab.
Any "supervised" iPads will appear on the Supervise tab.
You will want to decide whether you want your iPads supervised or not. Then you can make either an unsupervised backup or a supervised backup of iPad #1 in Apple Configurator, which you can then restore to the rest of your iPads.
Here are two guides that I recommend you reference to help you with your iPad deployment:
