  • 64 bit Sound Blas

I am trying out 64 bit'sXPpro/SP and have Audigy Sound Blaster?ZS 2 Platinum hardware?I asked Creative if they had a CD or a full download - no, they said, but there are updates. Ha,Ha! Yes driver and a few other?updates totalling?49 MB and many items. such as ?Creative Audio HQare not available. I tried then the installation of?the 32 bit version, then update those items available, including 64 bit driver. This showed the diagnostic was OK, but when trying to open Audio HQ, Sounds and Audio Devi'ves, pomptly get Cannot find the MMDriver. INF needed to install drivers. Copy the orginal file to System 32. Then tried to open Default Device and got meaassage Windows cannot execute SendVol32.exe. Use add/Remove to install. Well, not surprising that this was happening, but what does surprise me is that Creative seem to be totally uninterested in providing a full 60MB+ 64 bit download to sort this mess out.
I would just add that Creative auto update does not work in 64 bit IE/6/7 only in 32 bit versions.

What do you mean by 64-bit's
No there is currently no Sound Blaster, nor any other manufacturer, offering a PCI Express card.

  • Help with Line In for Sound Blas

I have my Sound Blaster hooked up as usual to copy my cassettes to MP3s. I cannot get a Line In, and it is driving me crazy. I have unhooked everything and hooked it back up. I have the Line In hooked up to a cassette player. the Line Out hooked up to my speakers and the USB connected to my computer. All the lights are on and it is set to digital/analog. Any ideas? It has always worked in the past. I have Version .0. Thanks.

    Hi,
Many thanks for your quick reply.
I tried the options in the links, however when I changed GB preferences to 'line-in,' it didn't pick up any sound from the plugged in mic at all. I tried recording and it didn't record anything. I adjusted the volume and the same thing happened.
I've checked and re-checked that the system preferences are set to 'line-in' and although it picks up the mic in that, it doesn't in GB.
    Help appreciated!

  • 5.1 sound with x-fi sound blas

Hi all,i bouhgt an X-fi soundcard together with an logitech 5. system with thx decoder. So this is my problem: My soundcard is connected to the logitech system with an coaxial cable. When i play a dvd with suround sound or a test file i downloaded i dont get suround sound. with the test file i got seperate centre right and left speaker sound but no rear sound and subwoofer sound. on the audio console i selected the passing through mode. Waht else can ai do?Thank you.

    Hi,
I don't have an solution, but I have the same Problem. My speaker system is an old DTT2500 (5.) from creative. I have the same issues, left, centre and right speakers are working but no rear speakers! I am very disappointed, because my old soundcard couldn't handle 5. an so I expected this new x-fi music card can handle it. I would like to have creative to tell me what speaker system is required to get 5. (surround) sound with this card!?BTW: Using AC3 (DDS) on the external decoder for DVD's (thru spdif) is working.

  • No Digital Decoder or option to use optical digital ports X-FI PCIe sound blas

Hi,I'm new to this board and I just got the new Soundblaster X-FI PCI express card. I'm dual booting both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows XP and I don't seem to have any access to my digital optical ports. I dont have the doby digital decoder tabs in the sound settings on either windows or the Creative software. I'm a bit confused as I thought that would have installed when I ran the setup from the disk. I feel kind of dumb since im going to assume something either didnt install right or I might have to download something. I know the card has to support digital audio as it has the ports so maybe something is not set right? I tried doing a search but couldnt find anything specific to my problem. Thanks in adavance,SDB

Well, after a more detailed search I have found out that the Creative Labs PCI express X-Fi xtreem audio sound card can not decode DTS or Dolby. I was confused as I didnt know it didnt have that ability. Poop. I have to say that it might behoove Creative to make that clear on their website as I would have bought a better one had I known. Otherwise the card is awsome and I'm just going to have to pay the restocking fee but at least I can get most of my money back from where I got it. Seriously, I should have done a better job at doing my homework. I'll probably get another X-Fi card cux it sounds awsome with my new creative 7. speakers. Just wish I had known before hand. Anyway, maybe this will be helpful to other people.

  • HOW TO USE A CONDENSER MIC ON SOUND BLAS

HI WELL I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO USE MY MIC (SHURE BETA 87 ) <CONDENSER MIC> IT SAYS THAT SOUND BLASTER WAS DEFAULT TO USE IT BUT SINCE A MONTH THAT I HAVE PURCHASE S BLASTER 2 ZS I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DO SO ANY BODY HAS ANY SOLUTIONS TO THIS PROB...........

You need a DI-box (onstageequipment but cheap), or mixing desk(PA not nessesary). (phantomvoltage is normally 48V, be careful not to put 48V= on da Soundblaster, it'll probably don't like it
-Dynamic mics (for soundblaster mic in) are robust units that require no batteries or other power source. and are generally used & loud rock-'n'-roll instrument applications. Good feed-back rejection.
-Condenser mics have a much higher degree of finesse & accuracy but require "phantom power" (normally a 48v. supply provided by the mixing desk). Generally used for Orchestral instruments and critical recording applications.
NB. Condenser mics are fragile and expensi've ....... Don't drop them!!Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 05-3-2005 03:55 AM

  • Connecting Case Microphone/Headphone Jacks To The Sound Blas

I just got a new computer with a Foxconn TLA-776 case that has microphone/headphone jacks on the front. There are 7 seperate plugs that come from these jacks. Ground, Right Out, Right Return, Left Out, Left Return, Mic Power, and Mic In. I tried plugging these into the white connector on the card with 0 pins, but they didn't fit correctly. Is there somewhere else these connectors are supposed to plug into on the card? They were originally plugged into the motherboard's onboard sound.

You didn't mention which card you have there but as an example, this is for Audigy 2 Zs. Arrangement for pins may vary between different models of cards. For example on Audigy 2 (SB0244) -->
    - Analog Ground
2 - Analog Headphone Out Left
3 - Analog Headphone Out Right
4 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- short to ground to mute the backpanel (when headphones are plugged in)
    ... (i.e. pins 3 and 4 were swapped vs. A2Zs arrangement)
    Didn't connect the mic.
Here is another link covering subject (st link seem not to work right now.

  • Vista 64 bit wont find sound blas

Just that..after installing Vista all worked excepted it wont detect that i even have my sound blaster li've 5.plugged in..when i unplug it it detects my crappy onboard audio...that doesnt support 5. Is there something im doing wrong? how do i make windows see my audio card?

You've definitely got the sound set to go out to your speakers (not optical/digital)? Check the defaults under the Sound set up panel (Type sound in the search box, it usually comes up as second option).
    Gift.

  • Recording vinyl to MP3 with Sound Blas

    Hi All,
I'm a bit of a technophobe so please be kind.
I've just bought a Sound Blaster to record my vinyl into MP3s and I am having a bit of difficulty. The problem being my turntable has two leads coming from it (one red and one white) and there is only one 'Line In'. I've tried with just the red lead from the turntable into the Sound Blaster and just the white lead - it records the song and downloads it into an MP3 but on play back there is no sound. One thought is that I need to somehow get both the red and white lead into the Sound Blaster at the same time - a cable that connects those leads and di'verts them into one lead into the Sound Blaster - will this help with the sound?
    Thanks for your patience,
    John

Depends on soundblaster model and turntable system you have there but normally, you need
    - a phono pre-amp w/ RIAA sage between the turntable and soundcard ... and
    - a 2 x RCA to stereo mini jack adapter/cable to connect the turntable/pre-amp into soundcard
RIAA EQ needed for vinyls can be done by the software as well but, as the recording levels you get are maybe too low (though, this can be fixed by adding gain using software) I suggest, if needed, you either get an external phono pre-amp ($30-$xxxxxx) or connect the turntable using the tape or aux I/O on your stereo system (if there is one). This is done by connecting the PC into your Hi-Fi system as you would connect a cassette deck ... and use exact same settings for recording from turntable using PC as you do when record using cassette deck.
Some instructions over using software based RIAA EQ -

I think you get best results by using the 48kHz version + Voxengo recorder.

  • Firmware for the Wireless Sound Blas

I have had the Wireless Sound Blaster for over 2 years and I can't seem to keep it from freezing up when playing. Everytime I go to play a playlist, within 20 minutes everything feezes and I have to unplug just about everything in my house and take the batteries out of the remote.
I read the following on CNET:
"BIG TIP for everyone. Go to the Creative Labs message board on their website, find the thread about their Wireless Music Recei'ver and ask the moderator in the thread to email you the latest firmware update. It works like a charm. Yeah, yeah, why go to all that trouble, this firmware should be on their website, blah blah. Do you want this product to work as well as it can or not? It's not much of an effort to make this device run flawlessly. No more dropouts, very responsi've remote, etc."
    Moderator, can you help?

  • X-fi xtreme music sound blas

i lost my software installation C.D. can anyone help me im in desperate need i cant get any work done

The drivers work but all the software you get with the card will not. That's what I hate about Vista. You're telling me that I pay all this money for a kick-butt sound card and graphics card, but I can't use the software that comes with them. Microsoft will tell you it's because Vista is a whole new operating system but that's a crock. It still runs on DOS, just like XP, 2000, '98, and all the others. Funny how Microsoft Office 2003, and Microsoft Small Business will work on Vista, but Quickbooks 2005, or anything else that doesn't say "For Vista" on it (no matter how recent)?will not.

  • Questions about USB sound blas

I just got the Creative USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX, and I simply love it. It was well worth the $0 I paid for it with a gift card I had to blow anyway. I have come to expect quality from Creative, through 2 sets of speakers, an MP3 player, and now a USB sound device.
I do have a question though. I've got USB . in the machine I use the device in. I'm wondering if it would make any difference to use USB 2.0?
Also, there was a very large cable that came in the box that I couldn't find out what it was. Do I need this cable? My music is working great right now, but I'm wondering if I need that cable.

The USB-6008 is supported by both DAQmx and DAQmx Base, so you can
definately use a USB-6008 with Visual Basic 6 through the DAQmx
API.  Information on how to get started can be found at this link:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/B22FE2B0F9C8935286256E920073DA07?OpenDocument
While the DAQmx driver is the preferred API under Windows, you may also
use the DAQmx Base driver with VB 6 if you prefer.  It is slightly
more work to set up however.  Instructions on how to do that can
be found at the following link:
