PCI 4351 cjc with SCB-68

Is it possible to enable cold junction compensation using a PCI 4351 board with a SCB-68 terminal block?
I have searched around and tentatively concluded that it is not possible.  Under the "accessory" option in MAX SCB-68 is not an option, and TBX-68 does not have a checkbox for temperature compensation.

Hello Craig,
National Instruments recommends the following accessories that are designed to be used with the NI 435x for thermocouples/CJC: the cold-junction sensor is on analog channel 0 on the TC-2190, TBX-68T, and CB-68T accessories. Additionally, the NI TBX-68T (used with NI 435x devices only) is the correct acccesory which includes a built-in cold-junction compensation sensor and autozeroing circuitry (compared to TBX-68).

  • Measuring temperature with PCI-4351 & TC-2190

    Hi,
I am a new LabView developer. I have a PCI-4351 data logger card and a TC-2190 thermocouple chassis. I cannot communicate with the 4351 cuz I don't know how. I've set up a channel with MAC and the hardware test works okay, but I can't find the right object to grab the measurement when I'm creating the vi. Do I use NI-DAQmx or VI Logger functions to take simple instantaneous temp. measurements?
Is there some example code I can start with? I tried to run the ni_435x_thermocouple.vi example that I downloaded from the developer zone, but there are several sub-vi's not loaded on my machine (eg: AI Hardware Config.vi) that it tries to find upon launch. Looks like a vestiges of LabView 5 that aren't there anymore. Is there an easier way for this LabView 8 user?

    Hi Jack,
The PCI-4351 only has support for the Traditional NI-DAQ functions and not NI-DAQmx.  It sounds like you don't currently have those drivers installed on the system, and this is why the Traditional NI-DAQ function AI Hardware Config.vi cannot be found.
If you are running Windows 2000 or XP, the most current version of the Traditional DAQ drivers available for download is 7.4.1 and they can be downloaded here.  If you are not using one of these operating systems, Traditional DAQ driver versions for another OS can be found here.  Example programs are a great place to start, and the Developer Zone includes a wealth of information.  Installing the Traditional NI-DAQ drivers will also include example programs that you can open and run in LabVIEW 8.0 by going to Help>Find Examples.

  • What device I have to connect with my PCI - 4351 to mesure a strain gauge signal?

    Hi,
I have a PCI - 4351 with a TBX-68T messuring some termocouples signals, but I want to mesure a strain gauge too, what devices I have to connect my PCI - 4351 to make it possible?
    Thanks.

Q: what do i have to do to connect my devices to my jetpack??
A: Jetpacks are wireless only devices.  You need to open up your computers wireless network list and select the network being broadcasted by the Jetpack.  Once you find the network then connect to it by entering the WiFi password provided on the back of the Jetpack.
    Q: what's the phone # for ???
A: VZW is a phone company.  Every device that connects to the VZW network  has a phone number associated with it that allows it to dial in.  Although your Jetpack uses a phone number there is no need for you to have to enter or use it on anything other than for billing purposes.
Q: it appears that my tablet has already picked up the jetpack as a connection. is that it ???
Yes.  The Jetpack should be broadcasting some kind of unique network name.  The default network name (SSID)should be on a white sticker on the back of the Jetpack.
Q: I have another device at a different location. how do I get that device connected to the jetpack ??
A: Jetpacks have a very limited range.  You need to bring your devices within the wireless radius of the Jetpack in order for them to connect to it.   Normally a jetpack can only reach 1 room away from its current position, they are not as powerful as a normal home wireless router.

  • Thermocouple Measurements on TBX-68T with PCI-4351

I have set up Traditional NIDAQ Virtual Channels for 2 different thermocouples. In a simple program, I wire each channel to AI Sample Channel.vi and get the temperature reading. This works fine. However, when I do this inside of a larger code where I am also reading voltage measurements on my PCI-4351 (using 435xFast.vi which I downloaded), the first thermocouple I read is always giving an erroneous error. Do I have to reset the board in some way before I take the temperature readings?

I've got just a few questions for you:
    1. Are you seeing a large negative value anywhere else other than when you run your particular vi as a subvi? Test panels in MAX? Other example programs?
    2. Do you have the latest drivers for your application? NI-DMM 2.3.1? NI-DAQ 7.3.1? NI-435x 1.1?
    3. Have you tried reseting the board in MAX and then running your application? If this takes care of that first bad sample, you could try calling Reset Device in the Traditional DAQ function palette before starting your acquisition.
Please let me know what you can. Have a great Thanksgiving!

  • How can I configure NI PCI 6221 and DAQ SCB-68 for pressure sensors?

    Hello
    everybody,
I am using the measuring board (NI PCI 6221) and DAQ
    SCB-68 for the data acquisition.
With the DAQ-Assistant I created AI for the voltage of
pressure sensors. In a big indicator panel from this DAQ-Assistant I see the
voltage for both sensors in the correct size. But if I set sensors in the
blockdiagramm to control the signals for sensor one I get a wrong voltage size
    and for sensor 2 nothing.
How can I configure this data acquisition equipment to
    get the correct signals?
Thanks a lot for your help.

I do not know the type of sensor you are using. But pressure transducers may have a very low output voltage(in the mVolt range). They also need an excitation voltage. Here is an introduction. http://focus.ti.com.cn/cn/lit/an/sloa034/sloa034.pdfThen working with pressure sensors I always use 3 stages in the circuit.
1 Instrumentation Amplifier as a preamp
    2 filterstage
3 Final amp and output buffer
(you may combine stage 2 and 3)
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

  • NI PCI 4351 errors

I have a PCI 4351 thermocouple card and I am trying to use it under Windows XP. The following software was installed on the PC:
Card driver: ni435x_v21 downloaded from National Instruments website
    NI-DAQ version 6.9.2f4
    NI-PAL version 1.5.5f0
    NI-VISA version 2.6.0
    Labview 6.1 full version
Measurement an Automation Explorer that came with Labview 6.1
The control panel of the PC shows the card correctly installed and working without conflicts. Measurement and Automation Explorer from NI detects the card too but the card fails the test. The error code 10401 informs me that this is an "unknown device". I tried it with another PC, now using the latest version of NI-DAQ, NI-VISA, and automation explorer but the result was the same
    QUESTION
Is it safe to assume that the card is toast? (It was in a drawer for a while, so that is a possibility.)

    Hi nizkorod,
Thanks for contacting National Instruments. I understand you are having a problem with your PCI 4351 board. Windows seems to be recognizing it, but the card does not pass the self-test in Measurement and Automation Explorer. This definitely appears to be a hardware problem since this is happening on two separate computers with different versions of NI-DAQ. The PCI-4351 should be working on both computers, with either NI-DAQ 6.9.2 or the latest 7.x. The board isn't completely toast though and can most likely be fixed. If you would like to get this board repaired then please give NI a call at 1-866-275-6964 and we can set up a repair.
    Have a great day!

  • NI PCI-4351

    Hi,
We have NI PCI-4351 working in Windows 98.
We are exploring to move to Windows 7 and CVI.
Has anyone this combination and how did you get on?
    Thanks
    Simon

    Simon,
    1-
Compatibility-wise see here. It says the NI-435x driver is not supported in Win7.
You might have to re-code the app with DAQmx, which is supported.
    2-
Probably your Win98 machine is an old one. So, another a major source of problems might be the timings.
Your current application might have been running without problems because it is somehow "tuned" for that computer.
The new faster computer will be doing things much faster and in multiple cores.
You might run into some race conditions due to some thread timing issues.
    Hope this helps,

  • Mac pro and motu PCIe audio card with a 2408mkIII

    mac pro and motu PCIe
i recently upgraded to the mac pro from a G5 and now my motu 2408 mkIII sound card does not work.
i installed the motu PCIe 424 pci card from motu and installed the latest UB drivers, followed the instructions to the letter, repeated numerous times in every pci e slot with only temporary luck. it worked briefly and then when the computer slept i lost the connection with the interface and have not been able to regain it.. yes i re-installed to the letter again. the pcie card is seen by the computer but it cannot seen the external rack mounted 2408 via the audiowire that connects it. yes i tried other cables. the unit worked fine on my G5.
i have heard of others with the same problem after updating the firmware to SMC 1.7. my mac pro came with the latest firmware.

To my surprise I had five software updates waiting for me. Among them Pro App update, two of them, and this SMC update. After I updated my MOTU PCI-424 audio interface no longer works. Tried installing MOTU drivers again, still nothing. It can't communicate with its audio interfaces. So right now, this amazing update from Apple stopped me from working, and I am on a pretty tight deadline. I hope I'll find a solution ASAP

Start by looking around the examples that ship with LabVIEW (if you are
    using LabVIEW).
Also look around zone.ni.com for general data acquisition information &
    examples. A good site.

  • PCI expansion slots with LV and NI hardware

I was wondering if there were any hardware or software limitations
with the use of a PCI expansion unit with NI boards and LabVIEW.

    Hello LabVIEWers,

The driver installation failed somewhere (the errore message did'nt specify exactly what went wrong).
Also, the card itself was not seen by the virtualized OS.
Documentation available is somewhat limited and confusing, so I prefer to ask to actual users.
Are you running multiple LabVIEW versions on different VM's? Which ones? Do you get troubles?
Are the virtual OS really able to recognize the hardware? Is it possible to install different versions of the DAQ drivers on each?
Thank you in advance for your help
The PCI bus is not exposed to the MS XP virtual machine -  You can't get there on that VM although.. while not officially supported other XP VM emulators do exist.  a quick search on the forums should yeild results

  • X-Fi XtremeMusic - 100Mhz or 133Mhz PCI-X support with nForce Pro chips

I have a Tyan k8we motherboard which makes use of a nForce4 chipset and I know there are issue with it and the X-Fi XtremeMusic cards.
However my question is this will the X-Fi work in 00 & 33 PCI-X slots? The reason I ask is that the Tyan k8we has two 6-bit PCI-e slots with a standard 32-bit PCI in between them, which makes it impossible to install anything in that 32-bit slot if you run in SLi mode.
I only have 00 and 33 PCI-X slots left that I can use on my motherboard. Both of which do not seem to work properly with the X-Fi XtremeMusic card (when I plug in the X-Fi, my onboard network cards stop working).
So I need to know what my options are if this X-Fi card will not work.
    - Is there something I missed during the installation?
    - Do I obtain a firmware or an update for the X-Fi card?
    - Swap the card for one that does work?
    - Return the card and get the Pro version (which I have heard works for some strange reason)?
    - Or return the card and get my money back?
This card is only a day old so I would like to act on the store's return policy if CL Support cannot help me anytime soon.
    Thanks very much

I think vanilla PCI is 33 MHz. 66 MHz is a PCI-X rate. Anyway, step is to talk to the motherboard manufacturer and make sure you are doing everything necessary to allow a 32-bit 33MHz PCI device to work in one of the PCI-X slots. If that doesn't work, the next step to talk to Creative. I doubt anyone here has any experience with this.
Also, I KNOW that the PCI slot is stuck between the two PCIe x6 slots. All I'm saying is that something is not right (ie. Tyan screwed up) if you can't use all 3 slots at once. I don't have any experience with SLI. Is there a rigid connector between the 2 cards that doesn't fit if there is a 3rd card in between. If it is, I'm suprised that a dual-slot solution where the 2 slots aren't adjacent is even conforms to the required spec. Is the problem that your heatsinks are too big? Exactly WHY does it become unusable, and how could Tyan possibily think that such a restriction is reasonable?

  • How to simutaneously use 2 PCI cards, one with traditional DAQ, the other with DAQmx?

    Hi,
I am currently trying to debug a system that used to work.. but sadly isnt anymore
A single computer contains 2 PCI cards (6110 & 6036E). The 6110 card is controlled by a fairly old software, programmed in labview, and hence, using Traditional NI-DAQ. The 6036e card is controlled by a more recent soft, programmed in LV as well but using DAQmx.
the AI/AO of the 6110 card is only momentarily used (20 sec consecutively, every minute) while the 6036E card is continuously receiving and sending data on its AI/AO.
Now the problem: the program that control the 6036E card freezes every time that the old prog access the 6110 card.. and then it works again perfectly until the next time that the 6110 card is used.
So my question: how can I make those 2 cards work simultaneously?
I dont think that it is because of the software nor because of the computer lack of memory/CPU if it used to work in the past. It might be about a wrong configuration of cards in the MAX but I couldnt find anything wrong there (no problem when accessing AI/AO of both cards through "test panel")
Thank you very much for you help.

That's what bugs me. The only thing that those 2 cards share is an AO of the 6110 connected to an AI of the 6036.
For the rest, nothing is common. The 1st program only deal with device1, while the 2nd prog only access dev2. There shouldnt be any problem and everything is working fine separately. Hence, why I was wondering if the traditional daq and daqmx might conflict on a same computer.
I just cant find out why the 2nd program controling the daqmx card just freeze everytime the 1st program access the traditional card. It actually doesnt freeze completly but becomes soooo slow, with about only 2 iterations of the main while loop during those 15-20 sec (instead of the normal 3-4000 iterations during such a period).
The computer specs are a 2.2ghz proc for 1G of ram and running XP, so it should be ok.. even though the computer does slow a bit down when the 1st prog access the traditional card.

  • How to generate a single output pulse on 64 different digital out lines (PCI-6513) each with a different start time relative to an event in a main program loop.

    Long question.
I am running a main program loop of 60 msec. At one point in the loop I create a 64 element array of delay times. At that point I need to begin outputting a predefined single pulse to each of the 64 lines on my PCI-6513. Each line outputs the pulse with a starting delay set by the "delay time" in the array.
Each delay time is such that the pulses will be done before the next loop commands another one.
    Thank You
    Roger

    Hi,
You have multiple ways of doing this, since there is no timing engine on the 6513 your code is going to control the output of the card, which is what we called “software timed”.  If you take a look at the example called: “Write Dig Chan.vi”, you can individually control each line.
So to change the state of the line; since you have an array of delays time you can aid yourself with “stacked sequence structure” where in each frame you control the time it takes to go to the next frame and the data been written to the card.
Another option is using a state machine where each state write the data you want and you can also control the time between states. For further references take a look at this article Application Design Patterns: State Machines.

  • Wmp 11 pci card work with WPA encription?

I just purchased a new 54G wireless access point since my new laptop (with Vista) doesn't seem to want to give "full connectivity" when using WEP security activated.
I now use WPA and the laptop hooks up fine to the new access point.  My problem now, is all my other wireless computers have the older wmp 11 pci cards, and I don't see anywhere in the setup where I can select "WPA" security so they can see the new access point.
Is there a way that they can work with this new access point with WPA?

I have a WMP 11 2.7 - I know for a fact it supports WPA2 because I am connected to the net using it and WPA2 right now.
I knew it had to work cos I got it working under Ubuntu linux using this
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1071920&mode=linear
    very helpful guide.
Could not however get the damned thing to work on windows using any of the drivers from this site. So I went back and had a look at the linux guide and found a simple solution. Download this driver
    http://sidulus.textdrive.com/bcmwl5sys.zip
Go to C:\windows\system32\drivers\bcmwl5.sys rename the driver there to bcmwl5.old.sys and unzip the new driver to that location. Restart. Hey-presto you should now be able to connect to WPA and WPA2 networks.
I think this will probably only work for the 2.7 version as that is a Broadcom chipset.
You know what really bugs me tho? I shouldn't have to be telling you to do all this, I shouldn't have to do it myself either. Why the hell does this card not connect to WPA with the drivers supplied on this site?!?!?
