PCI 4551 for FRA application

This is regarding clarification regarding frequency responce analysis
using NI PCI 4551 add-on card, especially in the singal generation part for
stimulating the unit under test.
1. Is it possible to generate sine, step, ramp and arbitrary waveforms
using this particular card?
2. Ifso what is the range of frequencies that can be possible to
generate using PCI 4551 card?( we may require from 1mHz to 2kHZ)
3. And what is the maximum amplitude of the generated signal for full
scale value?
4. Whether real-time octave analysis for NI DSA software can serve the
purpose of following tests: Frequency response test, Step response test,
Velocity test, Strain Measurement, Linearity Test, Cyclic test.
Or any other software tool is required?

Hi Mallesh,
In response to your questions, I've included my responses. I highly advise referencing the NI-4551 User Manual for more details.
1. Is it possible to generate sine, step, ramp and arbitrary waveforms
using this particular card?
NI-DSA includes functions to generate standard white noise, pink noise, band-limited noise, periodic white noise, single or dual-tone sine, and chirp signals. For step, ramp, and any other arbitrary waveforms you can use NI-DSA to define and generate an arbitrary analog output signal.
There is a good example which ships with NI-DSA that demonstrates how to generate arbitrary waveforms on the NI-4551. You can find this example in the NI-DSA function palette in LabVIEW under Application Examples>>Advanced>>Arbitrary Output Example.
By default, this example outputs a swept sine wave, but you can change the waveform to whatever you need.
2. If so, what is the range of frequencies that can be possible to
generate using PCI 4551 card?( we may require from 1mHz to 2kHZ)
The maximum output frequency you can generate with NI-DSA is 23 kHz. This limit is governed by the maximum output sampling rate of 51.2 kS/s. Because the digital-to-analog converters on the NI 455x DSA devices feature sharp roll-off, anti-imaging filters, you can generate a spectrally pure sine tone up to 23 kHz with minimal quantization noise, so when using the NI 455x devices, you do not need to worry about the output signal becoming choppy or noisy when approaching the Nyquist frequency.
The minimum frequency you can set is 0.1 Hz. This is limited by the finite size of the output buffer and the minimum update rate for the DAC. The output buffer is limited to 4,096 samples, and the DAC must maintain a minimum rate of 1.25kS/s for accurate results.
In Octave Analyzer Mode, when you're inputting a certain frequency, keep in mind the input range differs for each analysis type and the two configurable center frequencies. I've included the frequency ranges for a single channel below.
1/1-octave analysis
center frequency fs=25.6 kHz:
High: 8 kHz
Low: 16 Hz
fs=51.2 kHz
High: 16 kHz
Low: 31.5 Hz
1/3-octave analysis
fs=25.6 kHz
High: 10 kHz
Low 12.5 Hz
fs=51.2 kHz
High: 20 kHz
Low: 25 Hz
1/12-octave analysis
fs=25.6 kHz
High: 10.68 kHz
Low: 11.05 Hz
fs=51.2 kHz
High: 5.34 kHz
Low: 5.52 Hz
3. And what is the maximum amplitude of the generated signal for full
scale value?
The maximum amplitude is equal to the voltage range for the selected output channel.
4. Whether real-time octave analysis for NI DSA software can serve the
purpose of following tests: Frequency response test, Step response test,
Velocity test, Strain Measurement, Linearity Test, Cyclic test.
Or any other software tool is required?
The NI-DSA Real-Time Octave Analysis software add-on for NI-DSA supports fractional-octave analysis for 1/1, 1/3, and 1/12 octave analysis, level measurements, and A-, B-, and C-weighting. You can do octave, level, or both octave and level measurements, and have the additional option of specifying the weighting if required. This is all that can be done in real-time.
To perform a frequency response test, it is preferable to use the swept-sine analysis mode of the NI-4551 rather than a broadband FFT-based frequency response. Swept-sine analysis provides two main advantages over a broadband frequency response measurement in which all frequencies are excited and measured simultaneously. The first is a wider dynamic range. The second is flexible measurements of signal distortion and nonlinearity. For more information of swept-sine analysis, please refer to the NI-DSA Software Manual downloadable off our web site. http://www.ni.com/
For the Velocity test, Strain Measurement, Linearity Test, and Cyclic Test I should ask for more information about each test before attempting an answer. However, to answer your question, there are no methods I know of in NI-DSA that would directly perform these tests. In contrast with that answer, you may be surprised this functionality may be included with a LabVIEW development environment.
Let me know if you have further questions or this does not resolve your issue!

  • Drivers for PCI 4551

    These were the following troubleshooting carried out and found in the PCI 4551 S. No. 10FA31A Card
    1.Installed the 7.4.1 Traditional Daq (Legacy) drivers and Max version 4.0
    2.Opened Test Panel in MAX and run the start acquisition with continuous Mode Channel 0 or Channel 1 with sampling rate 52000 samples/s. During this action the PC hangs some of the time giving an error code 10800, which I found to be a time out error irrelevant to the hanging to PC.
    3.Tried step 2 for various sampling rate 100 samples/s, 200 samples/s, 1000 samples/s, 10000 samples/s and 20000 samples/s , found that the same thing happens for all sampling rate.
    4.Opened test Panel MAX run the start acquisition with One Shot Mode. With all sampling rate mentioned in step 3. found that the graph display is improper, i.e. graph does not display any plot, but becomes blank.
    5.Uninstalled  the 7.4.1 drivers.
    6.Installed the 6.9.3 Traditional Daq drivers the card is not detected in MAX.
    7.The PC Configuration was a P IV with 512 MB of RAM.

    Hi,
    Have you seen this KB?  Although it refers to PXI DSA cards, this information has also been seen to be pertinent to PCI cards.
    Instead of restarting, try shutting down your PC and have it stay off
    for a minute or two.  You could even try unplugging and replugging
    your PCI card, or switching PCI slots altogether.
    Let me know if this helps solve the problem and have a great day!

  • Microsoft Office can't find your license for this application - multiple copies of Office 2013 x32 failing to start, Software Protection Service timing out

    We're experiencing a growing problem with our users in several different domains running in to Microsoft Office 2013 x32 'activation' issues.  We use KMS for licensing, which works properly, but some of the machines (~20-30 out of 1000+) sporadically
    throw the following error:
    'Microsoft Office can't find your license for this application.  Microsoft Office will now exit.'
    We know it's not an issue with the licenses per se, since they work on and off and we can force KMS activation correctly / talk to the KMS servers.
    It appears to be an issue with the Software Protection service not starting properly.  In Event Viewer, we see the following:
    'Software protection service failed to start due to the following error- the service did not respond in a timely fashion.
    Event 7000'
    This is occurring on a variety of machines in a variety of environments, all fully patched with the latest Office updates.  It's inconsistent, and the 'manually restart the Software Protection Service' solution is not viable as it's occurring on many
    different workstations.  Office repairs have also been unsuccessful.
    Has anyone else come across this? Or have any idea why the Software Protection Service might be sporadically failing?  Maybe an Office update in the last 2-3 months?
    Thanks for any info.

  • Query to find out the time used by an user for an application

    Hello All,
    I want to know the query to find out the whole time used by the user for an application. Please view the below data
    Employee:
    SNO EMP_ID EMP_NAME EMP_DATE LOGIN_TIME LOGOUT_TIME
    1 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 06:30:00 07:30:00
    2 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 06:40:00 07:20:00
    3 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 06:50:00 07:50:00
    4 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 07:30:00 08:30:00
    5 10 Visu 21-Nov-2010 09:30:00 10:30:00
    By checking the above data we can say that the total time Visu used the application is
    8.30 - 6.30 (From 1,2,3,4 records) = 2hrs
    10.30 - 9.30 (Based on 5th rec) = 1hr
    So the total time Visu used the application would be 3 hrs = 180 mins.
    Could you please help me in getting the result from that data using a query?

  • Creating a "context" for an application...or something like that

    hey all. I've got a console program that runs all the time, on a TimerTask. What I would like to do is create objects in the main class and have those objects available to other classes and threads generated by the stuff the TimerTask's thread creates, but without passing objects around. Sort of like one would do with servlet/jsp programming with contexts and the request scope and such.
    I come from a web background, and so I think about this very much like a "scope" thing, where objects can be created and put in the request scope, and then other objects can avail themselves of stuff in the request scope.
    What i'm really trying to do is create a DB Connection pool in the main class and have threads and such use the connections, but i don't want to pass the pool object around to all the different objects within the TimerTask's thread. But this is more a question of scoping or availability of objects than it is about DBCP, per se.
    I feel like I should have learned this stuff in java 101 way back when, but I didn't, or I forgot, and now i need to gitterdone.
    Any tips? Thanks os much.

    hey all. I've got a console program that runs all
    the time, on a TimerTask. What I would like to do is
    create objects in the main class and have those
    objects available to other classes and threads
    generated by the stuff the TimerTask's thread
    creates, but without passing objects around. Sort of
    like one would do with servlet/jsp programming with
    contexts and the request scope and such.In fact, with servlets and JSPs, the objects are passed around via a ServletConfig object (the servlet's public void init(ServletConfig config) method) for the application (ServletContext) scope. The request scope of course is passed along to the service methods in the ServletRequest object, as is the HttpSession scope. The PageContext is generated in a JSP at the beginning of the _jspService method...
    But anyway, that is not what you need to do... If you want one context that the whole application can use, you can create a Singleton class, and use a static method from the class (of a Factory Object) to generate the Context/pass around the already generated Context. Take a www.google.com search for Singleton and you should see what I mean. But, since you will be working with multiple threads, make sure you sinchronise your methods...
    I come from a web background, and so I think about
    this very much like a "scope" thing, where objects
    can be created and put in the request scope, and then
    other objects can avail themselves of stuff in the
    request scope.If you want more than one Context, then that is a bit more difficult. What I would do is have some sort of TaskFactory that generates your classes (Tasks) that run in the Timer. Follow the Servlet example of having a TaskConfig object that will hold a reference to the single ApplicationContext that all tasks share, then generates a new TaskContext that will serve individual threads. Pass this TaskConfig object into each of your class's init(...) methods. (Maybe have an AbstractTask that has an init(TaskConfig ) method that stores it in a protected class variable so each individual Task doesn't have to worry about it - like the GenericServlet does...)
    What i'm really trying to do is create a DB
    Connection pool in the main class and have threads
    and such use the connections, but i don't want to
    pass the pool object around to all the different
    objects within the TimerTask's thread. I think this is usually done with a Singlton, I could be wrong though... I beleive a search through the forums for Connection Pooling may provide some examples...
    But this is
    more a question of scoping or availability of objects
    than it is about DBCP, per se.

  • APEX 3.0 with Single Sign On for single application

    Hi All,
    I have been playing around with SSO (IAS 10.1.2) and an APEX application for the past couple of days and am still having problems.
    I have followed the instructions word for word in the various how to documents named in this forum and am now at the point where I successfully redirect to SSO login page > login using a username created in OID (which is the same username/password in my application) > then get redirected back to "http://<MY_SSO_HOST>:7777/sso/auth"..
    Some things about my instance:
    1. Oracle DB > 10g 10.1.2
    2. Oracle IAS > 10g 10.1.2 (different server to above)
    3. APEX 3.0 > trying to run SSO authentication against a single application rather than the whole APEX instance.
    4. I have (after a lot of grief - figured out that the DAD MUST be /pls/somedad and that the port number 80 must be defined in the SSO token regardless - those two little gems got me as far as I am..
    Now I know very little about SSO and am trying to evaluate it for my application (which uses a DB login/password and has to continue to do so for other reasons which I do not control). I am assuming there is some method of synchronizing the OID/SSO repository with my db accounts but haven't yet figured that one out.
    I cannot for the life of me see what's wrong here. Any ideas??

    Thanks Scott..
    Okay let me go through the responses here..
    ...login using a username created in OID (which is the same username/password in my application)
    My application overlays another Oracle application (old client server) which relies on physical database user accounts to perform its own internal grants etc. i.e. it uses where USER = blah all over the place.
    Therefore my application is currently using the internal authentication scheme DATABASE (using DAD to resolve the credentials). In attempting to use SSO I am assuming that SSO must in some way be synched with my database (otherwise how does it pass any password changes applied in SSO to the database?)
    Given that it's a base install (SSO) the only login I have there is the default orcladmin account. So I am trying to figure out how to get SSO to pass an acceptable login name/password to my application. My first attempt has been to create a user in OID that matches the DB login to see if SSO passes these on login - maybe I'm completely missing the point here??
    ...After login you get redirected to "http://<MY_SSO_HOST>:7777/sso/auth"? That's not right..
    I have created/registered the application as per the how to guide using <my app name>.<my host>:<port> and setting the success URL to http://<my host>:<port>/pls/<mydad>/<my schema>.<custom success proc>
    When I fire up my browser and go to http://<my host>/pls/<mydad>/f?p=9900:1 it sends me to the SSO login page. After entering my username and password I then end up with a HTTP 404 - not found page with the URL "http://<MY_SSO_HOST>:7777/sso/auth".
    ..You should think about getting to 10.2 at least, ..
    Agreed but when I tried to upgrade the other day it fell in a big heap - so I backed it out to 10.1 again.
    ..I think I know what you mean. You installed the SSO SDK in a schema local to one workspace..
    That is correct - had to do it as my instance has multiple applications and I want to check it works on this one before breaking anything else!
    ..No, that's not always the case. If you find that putting '80' in works in your configuration and leaving it out doesn't work then put it in..
    I tried initially without the 80 but it threw errors whenever I tried to connect (these errors were APEX ones not SSO). On an off chance I put the 80 in there and presto it worked (in the sense that it redirected me to SSO anyway).
    ..Your application's use of a DB login/password is incongruous with using a different authentication method -- SSO or any other...
    Given the constraints mentioned earlier (answer to first question above) I don't really have much choice. I have an Oracle application that uses DB accounts to authenticate users and authorize thier use of the app modules. What I need to do is 'wrap' and APEX application around this Oracle application to make it SOX compliant (it does not currently enforce password aging/structure etc.) So.. I was thinking that SSO might be the answer.
    If SSO (used with OID) can enforce password aging and policies my intent is to have SSO 'manage' the user passwords for my APEX app (and it's underlying Oracle application). Hence the question about synching SSO with the underlying DB accounts. I thought the whole point of SSO/OID was to allow various enterprise apps to have thier authentication layers 'managed' by SSO - again maybe I'm misinterpreting this..
    ..if your application is working now with a non-SSO authentication scheme, then it should continue to work the same with SSO because after authentication, APP_USER is FRED in both cases..
    Agreed - but how does SSO "know" to let a given user have access to that particular application?

  • SSO for External application not part of the portal framework

    Greetings,
    I am desperate!!!
    I am trying to do the following:
    I have a pl/sql application that presents to the user a set of external applications links.When the user activates a link, I would like to make a call the SSO server so it can do external application login.
    I know I can configure the external applications as described in the SSO admin guide.
    Unfortunately the API to query the SSO server for external application mapping is not public.
    ANY IDEAS ON WHERE I CAN GET THIS INFO??
    Every thing I have read says that external applications can be accessed through Portal. This is not my case. I can use any packages or classes available by the SSO server to portal, but MY APPLICATION IS NOT A PORTAL.

    I have similar kind of requirements for Single sign-on to external web applications.
    But in my applications I have to auto-generate random userid & password for different external web applications.
    These uids & password are exported to external applications, which upon recieving creates user in their applications.
    So, actual user will never have access to these credentials(uid &pwd).
    So, how can I cutomize the Portlets to do the first time SSO when user is created & their credentials to external apps are stored to OID.
    Any idea Barry..
    Bye

    Do you have OAM as SSO?.
    The best way is to create a loginProxy page which proxies the user and password entered to OAM Login process (or the other SSO system).

  • Implementing OAM - SSO for Multiple Applications

    I am trying to implement OAM - SSO for 2 applications. I already have completed the setup of SSO for one application . OID -- OAM -- OHS ( 11g webgate ) - Weblogic Server - OBIEE . ( All the components are 11.1.1.5 version ).
    Now I am looking to add a 2nd application ( OBIEE 11.1.1.6.5 version ) into the mix. So should I install a separate OHS and webgate for the new application or can I use the existing OHS to add another application.
    Any tips on this would be helpful please.
    Thanks

    You may use the same OHS server in reverse proxy to the two applications and configure corresponding policies in OAM console.
    Let us know if you get into any issues.

  • How can i create datasource on apache server for ADF application?

    Hi All,
    i my use case i have created simple adf application using ADF BC and want to deploy on Apache server 6.x.
    So my question is that  how can i create Data Source i have goggling and find  two different way to do this.
    1. write following line of code on apache server conf/Context.xml file.
    <Resource name="jdbc/TestDB" auth="Container"
                  type="javax.sql.DataSource"
                   driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"
                  url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:dst"
                  username="jagrandb" password="jagrantest" maxActive="20" maxIdle="10"
                  maxWait="-1"/>
    but when i have used this way i got following exception.
    org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.PoolingDataSource$PoolGuardConnectionWrapper cannot be cast to oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection
    check link-
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2564233
    2. write following line of code apache conf/Server.xml file
    <GlobalNamingResources>
        <!-- Editable user database that can also be used by
             UserDatabaseRealm to authenticate users
        -->
        <Resource name="UserDatabase" auth="Container"
                  type="org.apache.catalina.UserDatabase"
                  description="User database that can be updated and saved"
                  factory="org.apache.catalina.users.MemoryUserDatabaseFactory"
                  pathname="conf/tomcat-users.xml" />
    <Resource name="jdbc/TestDB" auth="Container"
                  type="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
                  description="User database that can be updated and saved"
                  driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
                  factory="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory"
                  url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@//172.31.43.207:1521:dst"
                  username="jagrandb" password="jagrantest" maxActive="20" maxIdle="10"
                  maxWait="-1"   />
      </GlobalNamingResources>
    and add this line in context.xml file inside <context> tag
    <ResourceLink global="jdbc/TestDB" name="jdbc/TestDB" type="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"/>
    but when i have run application i have got following error
    log-

    Well,
    it's up to you. The first part (Mcit-Project-ViewController-context-root) is the context root which you define in the view controller project. 'faces' is the name the servlet filter reacts on. You can't omit it but shorten it in web.xml. The rest is your directory structure. I'm not sure how to shorten this other as to move the jspx files back into the web root folder.
    By the way an ADF faces app never uses the .jspx at the end of the url. If you specify '.jspx', you only render the page but don't start the work flow.
