PCI-6259 AI_Configure returns -10401 error

Hi,
I'm using MS VC++ to program an application that uses PCI-6259 M-Series DAQ card. I'm having trouble configuring and reading data from this device. AI_Configure(...) function returns with an error code of -10401 (unknown device error). What could I be missing.
OS: Windows XP Professional

Hello Ted. Thank you for contacting National Instruments. You are getting this error because you are trying to use Traditional DAQ calls with a PCI board that requires DAQmx calls. There is a great help file called NI-DAQmx C Reference Help that comes with NI-DAQ. This file shows up on your computer as daqmxcfunc and can be found at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Docs. For example, if you are reading in a voltage, AI_Configure() in traditional becomes DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan() in DAQmx. Example programs can be found at C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\Examples\DAQmx ANSI C. I hope this helps! Have a great day!

PCI-MIO-16XE-50 -10401 Error ;-(

Hi, I am installing a 'supposedly' good (but used-)board into a 350MHz PII running XP Professional OS. Seems to install OK, but when I launch MAX 2.2/NI-DAQ 6.9.3 the resource section is greyed out although it does appear, and I get a -10401 error (failed test, do you wish to continue?).
When I first installed the board, MS wanted to install a 'PCI Bridge Device' rather than my PC-MIO-16XE-50, don't know if there might be some other bugs to patch or diagnostics to run, or if I should send the board in for check out?

NI-DAQ is the drivers for all of the hardware.
MAX gets installed at the same time (?) as NI-DAQ and allows you to configure the hardware. THis brings me to a question that I failed to ask.
Did you do a "Refresh" once you opened MAX?
Depending on how MAX is set-up it may not have been refreshed after the borad was installed.
Recently, my experience with getting NI hardware to show up has been pretty good.
If the above does not work, you may want to call NI because the board may be bad.

Writing to digital port disrupting counter on PCI-6259? (nidaqmxbase)

Hello,
I've set up my PCI-6259 with an angular encoder counter, as per the C code example at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/5735
This appears to work great, but I would also like to use my PCI-6259's digital lines to control a TTL switch on the encoder it's measuring (among other things). If I set up a separate task in the same program and install a new DOChan to the task, it works great: I can control the TTL and measure the encoder position at the same time.
However, I would like to be able to control the digital lines, e.g., via a script, while leaving the encoder readout running continuously. I tried running the angular encoder counter example code, and while it was running, I ran the dio/writeDigPort example.
First of all, the writeDigPort took about 3 times longer than usual to run. It wrote to the digital line successfully, but as soon as it had, it corrupted the counter somehow. The angular encoder example began to spit out garbage, rather than the measured angle.
Is this just a limitation of nidaqmxbase, wherein I cannot use the PCI-6259 resource from multiple processes? I can imagine this being the case, since I think the counter setup is using a DMA.
Or is there a workaround? Any advice is much appreciated, thanks!

I think what was meant is that DAQmx Base is not multi-thread safe. From the readme:
NI-DAQmx Base is not multi-thread safe. In LabVIEW, use the error cluster to
force execution order. In C, use only one thread to make API calls; especially
for task/channel creation and deletion.
So, if using DAQmx Base, all of your functions should be in the same thread (i.e. don't make parallel calls to the driver).
Having said this, I notice you're using the PCI-6259 which is supported in DAQmx for Linux. You didn't mention what OS you're using, but if you are able to use the full version of DAQmx I would recommend doing this. DAQmx is multi-thread safe, and provides more functionality and better performance than DAQmx Base.

Start Counter Output on a Analog Trigger in the PCI 6259 Mseries board

Hi,
My question is regarding how to use Analog Triggering to start a counter in the PCI 6259 M-series board.
I have attatched a program here
'Mult_Device_Digital_Analog_Out_on_Analog_Trigger.vi'
and I'll explain my problem regarding this program.
I've tried to include all the details about the program in the documentation for the VI, but what the program
does is essentially output a set of digital and analog patterns as specified by an end user, and at times
specified in the front panel.
Problem 1.
I wish to start the whole operation on a analog trigger signal, in the program its the boolean "Line Trigger",
but I get an error saying that trigger type is not supported, when the M Series board manual clearly says it can be done.
Is there something wrong with my program ?

Admittedly, it might take a little time to find the documentation, but it is there. Also, the error you are getting indicates the proper trigger signals to use. In the help look at the analog Triggering Considerations for E Series, M Series, and S Series.
With that being said the easiest thing to do is to setup an Analog Input task configured to start on an Analog Trigger. Then, setup a digital edge trigger for the Counter task. The signal you are going to want to look for is the Analog Comparison Event. This signal won't show up by default in the list. What you need to do is right click on the trigger source constant or control and select I/O Name Filtering. Then check Include Advanced Terminals. Once you have done this you can select the Analog Comparison Event

MxiFindDevLA() crashed without return any error code

Version 2.1.1 of the VXI library returns 0xffffffff, error code.
Version 3.2 and 3.3.1 simply crashed the application with returning any error code.
Can you please tell me if there is any update within the mxiFindDevLA() function that's causing the problem?
side note: there is no pci-mxi2 hardware installed on the system.

I think in order to best answer your question we need additional details about your setup.
First, "mxiFindDevLA" is not an NI function. We provide an operation called "FindDevLA" which is probably related, but it sounds like someone (perhaps an instrument driver?) has provided a new function which may have behaviors we are not expecting. One step that would help us determine what the operation does would be for you to attach the output of NI Spy when your application runs.
Also, I am confused by your side note. FindDevLA (which might be used by mxiFindDevLA) is an NI-VXI API operation. All NI-VXI API operations MUST be run after InitVXIlibrary succeeds. InitVXIlibrary will not work (it will return an error) if there is no controller in your sy
stem. From your side note I can't tell if you have no controller at all, or just some other controller that is not a PCI-MXI-2.
If you can provide this additional information it would assist us in debugging the problem. FindDevLA itself is a simple operation which compares the settings you provide against the device info fields for each logical address in your system. It could cause a crash if you pass in an invalid pointer for the logical address parameter, but that was true in NI-VXI 2.x as well, so I look forward to any additional information you can provide.

Simulated PCI-6259 missing Ctr0Out

Good Afternoon,
I am simulating a PCI-6259 as "Dev1," and am unable to locate & select the DAQmx terminal "Dev1/Ctr0Out." According to the MAX pinout map this terminal exists, so my question is where did it go? If I force with manual entry I recieve an error. I've attach my VI for reference. Any thoughts?

Hi super-neuron,
If you look at the pinout map for the PCI-6259 in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), below the pinout diagram, it mentions that the default pin for Counter 0 Output is PFI12 (pin 2). This is the reason why you will not see Ctr0Out in your list of terminals in LabVIEW.

I am creating many site collections reading records from sharepoint list using powershell in sharepoint online tenant (office 365).
Few site collections are created and then getting above error so this error record will be skipped then few succeeding record processed then again getting error.

I can send but cannot recieve email
This is the messege I am gewtting:

The server returned the error: Mail was unable to log in to the IMAP server “p02-imap.mail.me.com” using “Password” authentication. Verify that your account settings are correct.
The server returned the error: Service temporarily unavailable

Also if I go to system preferences accounts and re-enter the password it fixes the glitch sometimes.

After Upgrade OBI 10g to 11g:Odbc driver returned an error - SQLExecDirectW

Hi all,
for an OBI upgrade from 10g to 11g I used a RPD and Webcatalog based on a remote machine other than my local machine. Firstable I am making the tests on a Linux Virtual machine, which uses the Sample Lite version from Oracle.
I made the following steps:
1. I upgraded the RPD and Webcatalog. It worked without any errors.
2. I set the static variable BI_EE_HOME via Administration Tool to the path in the Linux machine.
--> Here I am not sure if the set path is correct. It begins with: \bi\ ...\instances\...\coreapplication_obis1 (... : I can't mention here the whole path name).
--> When the OBI Server is installed in Windows, the mentioned static variable points to something like 'C:\<install folder>\...\coreapplication_obis1'
--> Question: is the begin of my set path correct?. I set that pointing to the Linux OBI Server, because the OBI Server is installed on Linux.
Problem:
After login as the user in RPD: Administrator/<Password for my upgraded RPD> I can see the links in the Catalog and the Dashboards links. But I can not see any values, any Reports when going through the links.
For example when trying to see a Dashboard with date 12.02.2011it happens:

These are the things I did:
1. I searched for the file tnsnames.ora in my Linux virtual machine. I could find it in many paths:

When I attempt to sign up for the Samsung website using Firefox on my macbook, it returns an error that the random question answer is wrong

I was attempting to create a user at this site:

It asks a "random" questions "Floors are horizontal, walls are ___?" When I hit submit, it returns an error that the answer was wrong. I tried several times using my macbook running firefox.
I get to work, where I am using an intel based machine running Windows 7, IE 9 and am able to register on the site and answer the question with no problem.
I have had the same problem on sites that use captcha - I cannot get past inputting the captcha phrase, as it returns an error every time, while using IE9 is problem free.
Is there something wrong with my setup of Firefox?

Why is my executable VI not working with a PCI-6259?

I have bought a PCI-6259 which has referencing trigger capability. I wrote a VI for acquiring the data and tested the VI on my PC that has the full developmental LabView 8.2.1 package installed. The trigger is a 1 volt level that is triggered by a potentiometer ranging from 0-5 volts that I control manually. The VI works exactly how I want it to, however, now I want to use the Application Builder to create an executable to distribute the VI to the testing station PC. I then removed the PCI-6259 from the developmental PC and installed it in the testing station PC and loaded the executable VI along with the LabView 8.2.1 Run Time Engine. I open the program and it runs but I cannot get the program to trigger using the same potentiometer so it runs in an infinite loop. I'm pretty sure everything is loaded correctly and the only difference between the two stations is that one has the full developmental LabView package and the other is an executable. Would anyone know why my executable is not working?

Thanks for contacting National Instruments support. One thing I'd like to see you try in the DAQ diagnostic utility. I do not suspect a bad card, but it is an executable that we can try that we know was properly built. If it doesn't work that will give us some more insight into the problem if it is truly hardware or software.

Power BI analysis services connector - the remote server returned an error (403)

Hi all, does any one have any suggestions what to try to identify the configuration problem I have?
I have, a SSAS 2012 tabular instance with SP2, there is a database on the instance with a read role with everyone assigned permissions.
When configuring the Power BI analysis services connector, at the point where you enter Friendly Name, Description and Friendly error message, when you click next I receive the error "The remote server returned an error (403)."
I've tested connecting to the database from Excel on a desktop and connect fine.
I don't use a "onmicrosoft" account so don't have that problem to deal with.
We use Power BI Pro with our Office 365. As far as I can tell that part is working ok as I pass that stage of the configuration with a message saying connected to Power BI.
The connector is installed on the same server as tabular services, its a Win2012 Standard server. The tabular instance is running a domain account that is the admin account for the instance (this is a dev environment) that account is what I've used in the
connector configuration. It's also a local admin account. There is no gateway installed on the server.

One other common issue I've seen is the UPN not quite matching. Log onto the SSAS server as the user who's logged into Power BI. Then open a command prompt and run:
whoami /upn
Hopefully the UPN it says will match your EffectiveUserName test and will match exactly how you're signing into the Power BI site.
If that doesn't work, your best bet is to go to
http://support.powerbi.com/ and click Contact Support and describe this situation and someone from the Power BI support team should get in touch with you to troubleshoot.

Yes, absolutely. Please see my reply as below,
(1) Are you running this single threaded? - is there more than one program running the same request?
So far, what I did just a single thread. For example, I click on "functionA", after few seconds is display out result, i close the result pages then i submit the "functionA" again.
(2) Do you have logic to re-try the request when you get a 503?
I do, but the logic and retry to get the error message is very inconsistency. For example, I click on "functionA", it can display result and no error message within couple of times clicking. But sometimes even I first click on the same function already display out that error message.
This really confusing where is the error came from, please advice for the possibility.

Getting "The remote server returned an error 503 server unavailable" in azure web jobs

I have created one web
job - on demand schedule under azure web site. This web jobs contains .execmd(i.e.)
Console Application.
I am retrieving the data from SQL Azure database and uploaded the data in sharepoint online lists. (i.e.)I have uploaded the data to several(7) lists in each subsites. I have 3 subsites.
I am getting this error "The remote server returned an error 503 server unavailable", while uploaded the data into lists.
Full Error Message:
Message - The remote server returned an error 503 server unavailable.

This is not occur every time. Some time i didn't get any error data successfully uploaded in share point online list.
Totally 4 hours taken uploaded the data into list for completed all 3 subsites.
If anyone know how to resolve this.

Hi,
Per my understanding, there is an issue when uploading data from SQL Azure database to a SharePoint list in Online environment.
For narrowing down the issue, I suggest you create a Console Application in Visual Studio without accessing the SQL Azure database and upload some sample data to the same SharePoint
list to see if the issue still occurs intermittently.
