PCI 6528 DO/I Problem

Hello,
I bought two NI cards very recently, the first one a PCI 6024E is perfeclty working but the other one a PCI 6528 does not work at all.
I plugged this very last card in 3 differents PC but i see nothing on digital output from port 3 to port 5 from MAX control panel test.
i'm using an SCB100 and i measure only the 5V on pin 49&99 even if i not use the SCB100.
The LED on the card is always lit.
I supposed the problem comes from my card  but i want to be sure, before doing anything else. My card is only one week old
Thank you for your help
Configuration :
NI-DAQmx driver software 9.02 (sent with the PCI 6528 card)
Windows 7/XP

Hi,
The SSR is like a switch that you would have added between your power supply and your load (a LED, a drive, etc).
For each line of each port you have 2 pins PX.Y+ and PX.Y- for example, port 3 line 1 : you get P3.1+ and P3.1-, then you'll have to connect your load and the power supply between these pins.

Da Helmut

    Hi, Guys:
I have almost zero experience with Digital I/O - is it possible to do pulse width modulation with a PCI-6528?
Sorry it's dumb question, but like I said, I have about zero experience doing Digital I/O.

I've done it using counters... with DO its possible, consider using 'regeneration mode' and 'dynamically updating user buffer data' should be selected.
For analog output, 'dynamically updating user buffer data' is explained here. For 'regeneration mode' refer this. See if you can club these together.

  • Accessing PCI-6528 from RT board (PCI-7041)

    Hello everyone,
I would like to access &/or control my PCI-6528 board from my PCI-7041/6040E RT board. What possible methods are available for me to control the DIO on the the 6528? (I would like to avoid using the DIO on the 7041 daughter board if possible).
    thanks
    David

    Hi David,
That's a great question.  It would be a logical conclusion that since the PCI-7041/6040E is in the PCI bus that it could offer Real-Time control to the other cards in the PCI bus.
    Unfortunately though, the PCI-7041/6040E
can only offer Real-Time control for the one daughter board directly
associated with it.  All of the other cards would require talking
through the normal PCI bus and would lose any Real-Time capabilities.
I hope this helps you better understand what's going on.

WMP200 and WMP54G Wi-Fi PCI cards  installed on PC.
My infrastructure is WLC 2106 and two APs 1231G and one 1242G.
The problem is that the cards have problem with connection to WLAN.
The broadcast SSID must be enable then the cards connect to WLAN otherwise is a problem with connection.
When the card is connected but connection is unstable and poor.
The cards have the newest firmware installed.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
    Kamil

    Hi Kamil,
Have you associated other types of clients with these AP's?  If so, do they perform better?
You might want to start by checking the status of the poorly performing client on the controller while it's connected:
    monitor -> clients
You'll primarily be interested in the RSSI and SNR. The other counters such as 'excessive retries' should be observed as well.
Also check the AP's radio interface stats.  Check for excessive interference or channel utilization.
This is a very helpful doc that you may want to check out:

Try looking in your boards' manual to find out how many banks it can hanle. Most 512MB ram is double sided =circuit stuff on both sides of the stick. Each side with stuff on it is a "bank".  Look at your ram & see if there is circuit stuff on both sides.  If so, is takes up 2 banks.  The intel chipset on your board usually only supprorts 4 banks, but the board itself may only support 3 banks, regardless of the number of ram slots on the board. 128MB & some 256MB ram can now be found single sided.  Your board might max out at 768MB.  You will have to find out more about your mother board to make sure you are not going over the max banks.

  • P43 Neo - PCI wireless LAN performance problems

    Hi,
i recently installed the Neo P43 Board. Everything runs fine so far, except PCI wireless LAN (maybe more, it's the only PCI card I use). I already updated the BIOS to 1.6 but it doesnt fix it.
I tried 2 different WLAN cards (1 Realtek and 1 Ralink). Both of them basicly work, but the transfer rates are painfully slow although the connection quality is reported as good enough.
    Anyone else having issues?

How low are the transfer rates?
It varies a bit but most of the time very low (as low as 1kbps or sometimes not working at all)
What are you connected to (Router?, What kind of Router)?
Connected to a router. It's a "Speedport" router, I think they are manufactured by Siemens.
When you talk about the transfer rate, do you mean the transfer rate that you get when you try to copy files to another system in a Wireless network?
I mean downloading files from the Internet over the router, or generally the connection to the router (like status page).
The Ralink card used to work just fine in my older PC with an Athlon XP / Nforce Chipset (and several other PCs), but on the Neo P43 makes problems with both, the Ralink and the Realtek card.
I'm not absolutely sure it is the board that makes these problems, but I can't think of any other source for this problem anymore.

  • Standby and PCIE 2.0 x16 problem

    Good day Forum,
I have encountered 2 issues with my setup (I will list the setup specifications below).
Standby issue: My computer is unable to go S1 nor S3 standby despite having a new operating system installed. Power settings set at Maximum Performance for Windows 7. When I clicked 'Sleep', the system will power down but it will power up again (without having the display shown). I have ruled out USB issues because I have taken out all USB peripherals connected to it right before it shuts down from standby and connected back again after it powered up.
PCIE issue: My PCIE 2.0 x16 graphic card is slots into the blue coloured PCIE 2.0 x16 slot. There are 2 PCIE-based cards which are connected to the motherboard via the PCIE slot but they are not connected to the 2nd PCI 2.0 x16 slot (hence, no reason for the speed to drop to x8). The issue here is not concerning the bandwidth of my graphics card but merely a question of curiousity as to why the interface speed drops from PCI-E 2.0 x16 to PCI-E x16 (v1.1). Any ideas? To answer your second query, the following is extracted from MSI's website on your board's detail specifications.

    • 2 PCI Express gen2 x16 slots
    - If two graphics cards are installed at PCI_E1 & PCI_E2 slots, these two PCIE x16 lanes will auto arrange from x16/ x0 to x8/ x8
    - supports ATI® Crossfire™  & NVIDIA SLI

    • 1 PCI Express gen1 x1 slot
    • 2 PCI slots, support 3.3V/ 5V PCI bus Interface

That's suppose to be. It's self adjust pci-e [1.xx <==> 2.xx] depend of VGA power needs.
When the VGA works in higher performance mode then will be auto switched to pci-e 2.0 automatically.

A new BIOS can help with this. If you already use latest BIOS for your mainboard, then you can ask msi about it here for further beta bios: http://support.msi.com/
P.S: Try turn off/Disable the "EuP 2013" BIOS option 1st, then retest

  • PCI-1422 Windows7 32bit Problems

I have a legacy program that I am trying to port from WindowsXP to 32bit version of Windows7.  This program is based on the PCI-1422 frame grabber.
For historical purposes, I have to use NI-IMAQ version 2.5.3, which installs version 2.0.3.17 of NI-MAX
From a clean build of Win7 x32, I can install NI software, and the old application which creates correct camera definition files.
When I add the frame grabber card, Windows device manager is happy... the card is correctly identified and seems to use driver files which match the old WinXP install.
When I look at the card with NI-MAX, the camera correctly appears in the configuration list.  If I highlight Channel 0 device and run 'Diagnostic' all tests seem to pass correctly.  (Again the displayed output matches the results from the same operation on the old WinXP box)
However if I try to 'Snap' or  'Grab' a frame, I get the following error box:  Title = 'Acquisition Error'   and there is NO TEXT in the error description, only a yellow ! warning icon.
(The legacy program performs all controlling functions via two other PCI cards, but halts when trying to grab a frame as well.  The above behavior can be seen with or without these additional PCI cards)
I have tried both installing and executing the EXE files with or without 'Run as Admin'  and/or 'WinXP SP3 compatibility mode'.  In some cases, the available camera list disappears, but nothing I have done has been succesful at grabbing a frame from the camera.
Any suggestions about compatibility and/or why the error box is missing all text?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    Good questions...
I have been asked to 'upgrade' a commercial system that was developed 10 years ago.  The system works currently... an XP based system with old frame grabber.   I was asked if I could upgrade the PC, because of concerns of PC failure with a 10 yr old box.  We found a new motherboard that supports the necesary 3 PCI slots for frame grabber, and newer CPU of course.
The question remains however, can we migrate to Win7, or...   do we try to install WinXP on the new PC hardware, with the older interface cards.  To add to the difficulties, the original company than produced the software is no longer in business.  Fortunately I have remained in contact with some of the developers that are giving me some support, but they haven't supported the product for years either.
The basic issue remains...  hardware and software that worked on XP, has been migrated. The devices appear in some sense to be detected correctly.  But the critical important issue, grabbing a frame from the camear, fails.  What can be done?

  • Calling dll of Leetro MPC08 PCI motion controller card problems.

    Hi,
I have been trying to develop an application using Labview 8.5.  I need to control a motorized linear stage which uses the Leetro MPC08 PCI motion controller card.  The manufacturer gave me example VIs which I configure to call "c:\windows\system32\MPC08.dll".  About four months ago, I remembered that i tested them and they seemed to work somehow (but I did not finish the full test since i was busy doing other things).  Nevertheless, when I got back to continue my development a few days ago, i just could not get the same old VIs to work.  I could only get one library function of the card to work which is the "auto_set" which returns "4" which is the number of axes that the card can control.  The next function I need to call is "init_board" but this one keeps returning "-3".  The manual indicates that any negative number returned means there has been something wrong.  I would guess it is "PCI initialization fails" but honestly do not know for sure.  Can anyone help?  My computer is a PC running windows XP.
Thanks in advance for any kind help offered.

    Hi,
Wrapped VISA call means that the SubVI contains a set of VISA calls.
If you are calling the VI's individually it is possible that the VI's need to pass a reference to each other, so they might not work if run individually.  Hard to know without the DLL docs, so to speak.  It could be possible that there is no need to pass references between subVI's.
Direct VISA calls are probably not necessary if the device runs with the vendors software.  The main goal was to verify functionality with either VISA or vendor app.
Ok I was looking at the Leetro web site, you can forget the VISA stuff as it is a PCI card, duh... you said that at the begining. :-)
The manual says Win2000 or XP.  is this being run on two different systems?

No probelm there mate, people who did manage to install them found that Windows would blue screen on boot until they rolled back to the previous version via Safe mode. Although I don't use my Ethernet ports ATM (currently using a prepaid USB wireless stick - long story), I tried to install the drivers a while ago and found they wouldn't update the system no matter how I tried..

    Hi Vinay,
Let's first try installing the latest DAQ driver for your PCI-6528 and Windows NT.  Let me know if this works.  I have provided the download link below.

As for your PCI-6528 that is not reading a digital high input, try swapping this nonworking PCI-6528 with the working PCI-6528 from your desktop PC.  This will help determine whether or not that specific PCI-6528 card is the problem.
