PCI-7833r low voltage output problem

Hi.
I'm currently working with the PCI-7833R along with the SCB-68 box.  I'm using 6 analog output connectors to send DC voltages out from my computer.
Most connectors are working fine, apart from AO1 which gives me slow reaction times and AO2 which is attenuated so that I get a maximum voltage of 1V instead of 10V.
I have temporarily switched them and am using AO6 and AO7, but I would very much like to fix this problem so that I don't lose two precious connectors.
I've checked the SCB-68 box but there doesn't seem to be any additional electrical components on these two circuits, so I believe this has something to do with the configuration of the FPGA on the computer.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Orel.

Hi, Joe.
Thank you for your time.
I measure the voltages out of the cable.  This is done for all outputs AO0-AO7, which is why I don't understand why there are differences.  I don't think it's the cable, because when I switch it from AO1 to AO6, for example, I get the right output.  This happens only for AO1 and AO2.
Thanks,
Orel.

  • PWM-520 low voltage problems

Hi all.  I am having a problem with an FP-PWM-520 module and I'm hoping that someone can help.
I have a Fieldpoint system with two FP-PWM-520 modules in positions @7 and @8.  The two modules are powered by a dedicated 24V supply.  One module works properly but the second module does not output enough voltage to run our equipment (~4-6V per channel at 100% instead of ~24V).
I measured and got 23.96VDC across V and C.  I tried swapping the modules to see if it was a problem with the terminals but the problem moved with the module.
Is there a configuration setting that i missed or is the module toast?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Hi Janell.  Thanks for the reply.  Here are the clarifications you are looking for.
    1. The power supply is connected to the V and C terminals at postion @7 in the Fieldpoint train.  The V and C terminals at position @7 are then jumpered to the V and C terminals at position @8.  As originally connected, the two PWM modules share the same power supply.  This power supply is used exclusively for the two PWM modules.
When I say that I swapped modules it means that I took the two modules and switched their position in the train (ie: the module that was at position @7 was moved to position @8 and the reverse was done with the other module).  When I swapped the modules, the low voltage outputs followed the module that I suspect has a problem.
    2. I did try isolating the supply to each module.  The result was that one module worked properly and the other still put out the low voltages.
    3. I will try this in the morning.  Is it possible that the PWM modules are interfering with each other?
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • DAQ of low voltag signal

    Hello,
as I´m quite new to LabView and DAQ this question is hopefully easy to answer.
I´m trying to read a voltage signal from a device referring to a temperature ( 10mV = 1°C). When reading the voltage with my DAQ-Card with a rate of 1000 Hz, I see the voltage I expect (300 mV) and peaks with 2,5 V and above 10 V. When I connect to a oscilloscope I can´t see those peaks, but just the right voltage. My question is if this is a problem arising from the small voltage? Does my Card internally amplify the voltage? Do I need to amplify the signal before connecting to the card?
    Thanks for your answers!

It should be quite easy for the DAQ-Card to read a 300mV signal at a sampling rate of 1kHz.
I can't explain why you are seeing peaks of "2.5V and above 10V" - this sounds quite wrong - in fact most DAQ-Cards are not even capable of directly measuring anything greater then 10V.
Most DAQ cards will measure using a default range of -5V to +5V (instrumentation amplifier gain of x1) unless you specify otherwise.
In traditional DAQ programming, you specify your expected maximum signal range and LabVIEW/DAQ chooses a suitable board gain to cover at least your signal range. Board gain values are typically 0.5, 1.0, 0.5, 0.2, 0.1, 0.05, etc, etc, although not all boards have as full a range as some others do (it varies depending on cost/specification) - for example, the NI-PCI-6025E low cost board only has gain/ranges of 0.5 (+/-10.0 V), 1.0 (+/-5.0 V), 0.1 (+/- 500 mV) and 0.01 (+/- 50mV).
So to answer your specific questions...
    i) No the problem you are seeing is not due to your lowish signal.
ii) Your card can amplify the voltage prior to the DAC (digital to analogue converter) - although you need to program this as you deem appropriate.
iii) Normally you don't need to amplify the signal yourself (except in special circumstances).
Final advice - you should always try to use the default "differential" measuring mode in order to minimise noise - and check to make sure that your signal source is ground referenced to your PC/DAQ board by some route.

  • Low Voltage and Audio (AC97) Lost in Game

Hi, someone please help me. i have search the forum with no luck.
i have installed the monitoring software provided with the msi cd and during gameplay, the alarm goes off in win98 (i don't play game in xp). the voltage (most of it) falls below the normal level. the 3.3v fall to around 2.8v. sometimes, the pc just went off without warning. is it the psu problem? how to check? is it harmful if i keep using my pc ignoring the alarm? are there any other reason for the voltage to drop other than faulty psu? fyi, i have 350w psu with 2 hdd, 1 cdrw, 1 fdd, 1 agp, 1 pci, 1 thumb drive in use and 1 casing fan.
another problem, my audio come and go in most game. it all started after i install directx9. i try directx9b but the problem still there. my sound driver is up to date (v3.59). i think it has nothing to do with psu problem bcoz this problem exist long b4 the low voltage problem. last time, i reinstall everything and use only directx8.1 to solve this. i don want to do this now. i found similar problem in this forum but there are no conclusion. anyone know how to solve this? or maybe i can downgrade directx9 to diretx8.1?
    Thanks, in advance.

12V/18A. it is cheap, so it might not be the best psu. i play all kind of games in 98. just don't want to mess up with game in xp. when it happen like my sound problem, i reinstalled everything. if i use xp to play games, there would a lot to do.
i had installed mbm 5 and here is the lowest/highest voltage recorded. 2.66/2.96 4.81/4.87 11.19/11.55.
Anyway, the sound problem seem ok after i change something in bios. something in ram timing. i set from auto to manual without knowing the function. what dhould i set for the best setting for this timing?

  • Getting low voltage from the Macbook Pro Case

I'm getting low voltage throughout the casing whenever the brick is plugged in my 2011 macbook pro 13".  I can run my fingers across the case and get the 60hz hum from the ac current.  Pretty neat effect, not sure if it's totally safe or not.  I tried plugging it into several outlets and changed the surge protector, with no changes happening.  Anyone else getting this issue?  Thank you for listening!!!

I have exactly the same problem. How did you fix it?
    Is it magsafe adapter issue?

  • Bad sound and low subwoofer output on Audigy 2 zs with 5.1 5

    Hi,
I am getting very very low subwoofer output on my Audigy2 ZS with 5. 5200.
To test furthter, i did the follownig
    play mp3,
2 output is from front speakers
3 very very low subwoofer output
4 to confirm, removed green (front) black (read) cabled from sound card and can confirm a very very low subwoofer output
earlier with Li've! 5. every thing was working great.
    what could be wrong?
i think Audigy 2 zs is a bad card and is a marketting hype.
is it that we need a different kind of cable to connect Audigy2 zs with 5. 5200? ( i am using the cable which came with my 5200 ofcourse)Message Edited by kotecha on 2-3-2004 07:23 PM

    Hi Jeremy,
    Thanks for the response.
I have tried all the thx console setup and bass levels.
Its not affecting the subwoofer output very much.
<Infact the subwoofer output is so low that i have to go and put my ears on the subwoofer to see if its producing sound.
<FONT color=#333399>Remember that with Li've! 5. (SB0220) which also i have with me is giving all the great results. so the problem is not with speakers but with the sound card and i want my costly card (zs) to work.
(i still believe the 5. 5200 3 pole cables (green, black, yellow) which we attached to the sound card and speakers are not compatible with Audigy2 zs as zs needs 4 pole cables - but i have not verified this still as it will be a long time consuming exercise - purchasing 4 pole pins and soldering here and there on cables and poles and testing testing)
Also, why the bass boost controls (level and cutoff frequency) in bass boost are disabled? how to bring them to enabled state?
Also, in thx console setup (calibration page) , its not SAVING the changes which i make to Distance, Level and Angle. Why is that so?
To help you further in understand my problem please note that i HAVE updated all the software to its latest versions by doing the software AutoUpdate from creative support site.
So i am having atleast 3 issues now
<. VERY VERY low subwoofer output while playing mp3 on audigy2zs with 5. 5200(this is my major concern)
<2. Bass boost controls are disabled (how to enable these controls?)
<3. its not saving the changes i make to thx setup console calibration page for Distance, Level and Angle.

  • IDT High Definition Audio CODEC v. 6.10.6395.0 Upon installation I have very low audio output

    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC v. 6.10.6395.0.  5/21/ 2012
Upon installation I have very low audio output!   Screen Shot    Screen Shot 2
        I have tried:
    un-installing and reinstalling the drivers.
Installed the original drivers via HP's website sp53222 for my particular model.  HP  Pavilion HPE  h8-1070t
Any suggestions? would be greatly appreciated.  It would appear IDT who I also emailed and they never responded is responsible for a codec pack that is not fully functional with this motherboard.
was wir lieben meistens nicht kriegen

Did you access the Catalyst Control Center in programs and look at the latest updates for your graphics card and make sure you didn't download the audio drivers they self install and are checked automatically each time you attempt an update for the card.
Did you right click on the speaker in the system tray and go into recodring devices make sure everything is setup propper there sometimes they too can change.
I'm familiar with cakewalk but never used it on Win7 its been many years since I played around with that. If you are using the onboard audio card and it has worked before and not now if I were in your situtation I would attempt to reisntall the dirvers via device manager they do sometimes become corrupt especially if you picked up any malware that was removed by your antivirus software due to the drivers and malware both reside inwindows\system32.
After the reisntall of the drivers if the issue is not resolved I would upgrade the audio card with a  PCIe x1 component such as:
Creative Labs SB1040 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card
     http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-SB1040-Express-Blaster/dp/B000W7PNZI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357...
After I paid for a real soundcard with Recording: 24-bit/96kHz and Sound Output Mode - 7.1 and bypassed my onboard audiocard I never had any issues again. My onbaord worked too in the begining for certain things than stopped mysteryously and the reinstallation became ineffective after a while so I decided the money for the tower was invested mainly in the CPU i7 the RAM and HDD.
*** Note if you did install the audio drivers for the graphics card you will have to change the onboard audio in the BIOS from automattic to enabled. Otherwise you will have no sound at all. So never take the audio drivers for the graphics card unless you need them for DVR recording or something. The PCIe audio cards are never effected by this however only the onboard audio. Another reason onboard is a cheap way to go and HP bundles it as cheap as it can my friend.
    Good Luck again!

  • Low Voltage

We have 2 Apple XServes and one of them is reporting Low Voltage on the CPU 1 Vcore at 1.21 volts. The second Vcore is reporting normal at 1.27 volts. The other XServe is reporting a normal voltage of 1.27volts on both Vcores.
Is this anything to worry about and what exactly is going? Any help or thoughts would be very much appreciated!
    thanks in advance,
    Bill

The word from Apple on this is that the voltage core thresholds are somehow hardcoded into the CPU itself. If you compare one box to another, the thresholds can be different.
While your number may not be out of spec for the G5 processor, it is possible to be out of spec for the thresholds preset in the processor. (Extremely annoying, no?)
My experience with this required that we swap out processors to fix the problem. Little else we tried would fix it, as there is no way to change the thresholds that System Monitor sees.

  • I'm working on DC Motor control using DAQ. There is sufficient voltage output from DAQ but not current. What should i do so as to drive the motor

I'm working on DC Motor control using DAQ. There is sufficient voltage output from DAQ but not current. What should i do so as to drive the motor. Could you suggest me appropriate driver IC using which this problem can be solved.
    Saravanan.T

You really should use a DC motor controller to control a DC motor, look at the 754410 IC for a good example. You should be able to interface these to most DAQ devices.

  • How to convert a voltage output from a Rogowski coil to its original current waveform ?

I need to measure current using a Rogowski coil. The voltage output of the coil across a 1k load resistance is directly proportional to the "rate of change of current" flowing through the conductor passing through the center of this coil. So the output is actually :
    y = M * di/dt ; where M is the mutual inductance of the coil.
I need the output waveform as i(t). This means an integration is required.
Can some one help me out with this ?
I am also told that in the frequency domain this integration means a -20dB/decade attenuation and a constant -90 degree phase shift. This is some thing I cannot work out with Labview since I am new to it. I tried a mathematical integratio
    n. But this also does not work.
Could someone help me out with this ?
    Regards
    PC

To come up with the most straight forward approach, forget for a moment that you are using LV and think about how you would calculate the answer using paper and pencil.
You have an input value that (using the formula you gave) is related to the rate change for a parameter (in this case the current). Given that rate of change, how do you calculate the absolute value of the parameter at any given point in time? It's really just a math problem...
Once you have it worked out on paper, just do the same calculations in LV.

  • Macbook mini DVI to DVI output problems

    hi
I've been using a samsung syncmaster 22" with my macbook for about a year now with no problems using the mini DVI to DVI connection
then earlier this week i used a different DVI cable to plug my playstation 3 into the screen, when i plugged the computer DVI cable back into the screen lots of red/pink pixels have taken over the screen and when the desk is nudged red lines flash up
i thought it might be either the DVI cable or the mini DVI to DVI adapter and replaced both to no avail, i have also tested all the cables on other screens/with other computers, and tested the screen with my playstation. Screen and cables all work fine so i think it must be some kind of output problem, but cant work out what it could be seeing as nothing would have happened to the port on the actual computer whilst changing connections on the samsung screen
sorry for the long winded post, really wanna know what the problem is here

    Hi cbeth,
    welcome to macbook forum.
For your friend macbook, try to press F7 back and forth to switch between mirror and expanded mode.
Try to update your macbook hardware firmware and software using software updater and repair permission after that...application/utilities/disk utility/repair permission.
Also reset your PRAM and PMU.
Open your friend system preference / display and try to compare and set yours similar to hers, including resolution, color depth, refresh rate.
    Good Luck.

  • Mac mini audio output problems

This is similar to a problem that appeared before, but with a different twist.
On 4 July all was well. On 5 July I switched on and there was no "chord" from the Mac. When I collected my mail - no sound from my speakers (which are part of my screen). Logged on to a couple of sites - no sound.
The System Profiler, under the "Audio (Built In)" category, says: "No Built-in Audio." I know that's wrong because it's always worked before and when I plug my headset in it works fine.
When I go to the Sound preferences panel in System Preferences, it finds the headset but if I unplug that it finds nothing.
I tried running the hardware test (by putting in the OS X install disc and holding D during startup.) It couldn't find a problem.
So, as far as I can see, audio output is fine for the USB headset output but not for the others. Is there a simple fix? The nearest Apple store is about 200 miles away and I don't fancy the idea of posting the Mac off.
(And I think it's still under warranty for a couple more weeks.)
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

hello mini users with the "no audio output" problem
it seems that there are faulty output jacks in the macbook and the mac mini
there are two things you can try:
i tried everything and began thinking about what new software i had installed. it was "macam" which enables you to use older webcams on OSX. i needed that to use my webcam on skype.
macam installs a file called "macam.component"
if you have the same, do this - take that file out of:
    (your hard drive)/library/quicktime - macam.component
and just put it on your desktop
restart, then in your sound pref's choose your audio output (if doesn't work restart again)
the first time i took it out, i had my sound back instantly, another time i had to choose audio output in sound prefs. you kind of have to try different things. after you get your sound back, you can put back "macam.component" to use your webcam.
it seems macam causes the problem, the two can not work at the same time.
the second thing: if you dont have "maccam" try plugging and unplugging output jack a few times and restarting until you have sound.
the problem still could be with the OSX 10.4.10 update / quicktime...or maybe even a hardware problem like others with macbooks were saying (with the red light), not sure.
people with macbooks and who have the red light on, say to use a paperclip to turn off the switch inside.
my mini does not have a red light on. i tried using a paperclip but it doesnt work.
hope this helps, beleive me i feel your pain!!!!
what good is a computer without sound?
extremely annoying problem that i hope apple looks into and fixes

  • How can I monitor the voltage output sent to each servo axis programmatically?

Hi I am wondering if it is possible to monitor the voltage that's being sent to a servo motor during an axis position movement (in particular quantities such as max voltage). I am using a PID controller to drive this servo motor.
    Thanks
    Vlad

    Hi Vlad,
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to programmatically read the voltage output to the drive, as the voltage is all determined internally by the controller circuitry on the board. Depending on the controller though, you may be able to physically route the output terminal to a spare analog input channel and read in the voltage that way. This example Analog Input with 73xx Motion Card shows you how to program LabVIEW to do this.
