PCI/AGP Divider

Hi,
I need a confirmation, is the PCI/AGP divider always 3 no matter what the fsb is? Or is it 4 over 133fsb?
Or is it related to memory divider (and how)?
It is for 645 Ultra version 1 MS-6547.
Many thanks.

Check in the BIOS if you can change it, considering the mobo you have I think you can't change it (I can't with my 850 MS-6545) and thus it will stay at 1/3.
A moderator at this forum told me it will automaticly change when the FSB reaches 133MHz, though. Pity, I'm not able to test that because my PSU can't supply enough power (probably not enough Amperes on the +12V line) to raise the Vcore to 1.7V. That's why my processor refuses to even POST at 120*20=2.4GHz. Because of that the PCI/AGP are running way to high (pci almost 40MHz) which caused my HD to corrupt some windows files and even lose a (empty) partition.
So, check whether you can change it manually, or try to make the big leap at once. Just be sure to up the Vcore enough, or you won't even POST

Hey,
I'm using the overclocking features on the board, but i can't find the PCI/AGP adjustment in the BIOS, any body know what i can do??
I'm using the latest BIOS which is 5.6
Cheers

Ah, now thats what i've been told but according to Sisoft Sandra my AGP is 86Mhz and PCI is 43Mhz so itdon't look like its kicked in.
Any advice, do i have a dodgy board?

• PCI/AGP divider for KT6 Delta

hi,
i want to ask at which FSB does the divider for the KT6 Delta motherboard kicks in?
I'm trying to overclock an AMD XP 2400+ without unlocking the multiplier.
Thanks

thanks, i had just tried out the pin-mod guide which allows me to choose other multipliers...now my system is clocked at 2255mhz with 13.5x and 166mhz.
however, i think my maxtor Sata drive didn't like the increased speed. I was greeted with some disk errors but i was able to start winxp normally, run programs as usual. Any help in this?

• PCI/AGP Clocks?

Ok,I don't quite understand the way to tell how the PCI/AGP clocks can be monitored or obtained.
Here is my set up:AMD Barton 333FSB set to 172x13=2238MHz.I run 1 gig of Hyper-X(just purchased)PC-3200 at PC2700 speeds(333 due to the 333 CPU).The RAM runs at 1:1 at 172MHz with timings 2.0/3/3/7
I can not run FSB at 200 and can not clock beyond 175MHz FSB without getting ATI error.I assume that the AGP clock is going too high. Can someone tell me how to caculate the correct FSB and Multiplier to get a safe AGP clock?

Hi,
I read somewhere, not quite certain where, that the KT6 has a agp/pci divider that changes over at about 190 fsb.  I had no problems running my board up to 200fsb and the agp bus runs at 67 mhz.
I just tried to to set FSB to 200 with a multi of 9 to be safe.No post.I had to clear CMOS.How in the world are you getting that 1800 to use 200FSB?When I first built this system,I was told by several users to set FSB to 200.I am still unable to get it to post at 200.I went as high as 185 but seemed to get unstable so I clocked it down.No dynamic over clock or spectrum on either
Can you please tell me what program you are using to monitor the PCI MHz?I just downloaded PC Wizard 2005 hoping it would tell me.It has alot of very good information but no PCI/AGP bus stats.

• 875p, I CANT LOCK my PCI / AGP Frequency using FAST,TURBO, or ULTRA

i have an 875p neo. i am one setting away from loving this mainboard(finally). i have a 2.8ghz running at 3.0 (with a 1:1 FSB/RAM). i can run stable in TURBO MODE, with "timings by SPD". i am using 1.7 bios (1.8 gives me lower performance). i tried all the bios from 1.4 and up. my problem is I CANT LOCK MY AGP/PCI frequency. no matter what, it boots up in windows as 70/35, but only when using FAST,TURBO,or ULTRA PERFORMANCE MODE. my agp/pci frequency locks fine at 66/33(67/34) if i run in SLOW MODE, but any other performance mode setting overclocks the AGP PCI frequency to 70/35. this causes my ATI 9700np to freeze almost instantly while playing any game. luckily my ATI card has unlocked bios or the problem would be worst. i have been using CLOCKGEN to throw the settings back to 66/33 when windows loads, and i get no freezes. BUT I WANT A PERMANENT FIX MSI. not a CLOCKGEN patch. my question to you all out there:
IS THERE A particular BIOS THAT I CAN USE THAT will LOCK THE PCI/AGP FReQUENCY while using FAST,TURBO, and ULTRA PERFORMANCE MODES? or another way to lock the setting in the bios?any suggestions? thanks
EDIT 2:
i just remembered, i forgot to tell you all. my agp/pci lock works fine if i run my ram in 333mhz mode. i have 400mhz ram. i was a running 1:1 ratio. agp/pci doesnt lock only if i use "auto" or "400mhz" settings. it run fine when i have my ram set to run at 333mhz. are you runnig at 400mhz or 333mhz? if 333mhz i can see why i left you guys confused...sorry.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MY FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WELL I GUESS WE HAVE TO USE THE GHETTO FIX FOR NOW:
(i am assumming this is an ATI CARD only PROBLEM)
download clockgen and install it. check your AGP/PCI frequency. if it reads  70/35 then you have a problem, which will cause your ATI card to freeze up during a period of use.
unlock your cards bios(if it's not already unlocked). this will allow room for the 70/35 AGP/PCI frequency overclock. get info from rage3d.com forum on how to unlock your  ATI card.
make your clockgen settings startup when windows boot, @***ghz, 66/33 agp/pci(read the clockgen instructions on how to run clockgen on boot)
download radclocker and install it.
set the AGP core/mem clock speeds to what you desire. then bump down the core TWO NOTCHES, then the memory down TWO NOTCHES then click "use current" bios button. 70/35 boot overclock pushes your ATI core/memory up two notches, so by setting radclocker 2 notches , radclocker takes the 70/35overclock two nothes lower. you have your desired speed. then clockgen throws your agp/pci frequency back to 66/33....which makes everything work right. it all boots in the right order for me.
explaination:
when windows starts it boots your agp/pci frequency@ 70/35. you need to be at 66/33 AGP/pci frequency for your ati card to run correct and not lock up after intense gameplay. radclocker underclock your card.clockgen puts your agp/pci to 66/33 AGP/PCI frequency.

• Locked PCI/AGP

I have the K7N2-Delta L. Is the PCI/AGP bus speed locked automatically or do I have to change settings for these items in bios?  I oc'd fsb to 200Mhz w/333Mhz ram runs good but Ghost Recon has graphic noise bars and blips in sound when I run it.  I have faster memory on way soon (400Mhz) and video card is slightly oc'd by 25Mhz on Core and Memory.  I guess my memory is causing these problems right? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated gonna knock back oc'ing till I get faster memory, just wanted to experiment.

Yea, It's the RAM. I just ran Memtest86+ and got errors on test 5.   I've RMA'd a 512 MB stick back to Kingston, expecting replacement next week. I must say I really get a buzz with this oc'ing.  I believe with 400Mhz ram I could run steady with my 2500+ Barton CPU set at 200Mhz FSBx2 no problem maybe even a little more. I might even be able to increase the multiplier a bit more to tweak out a little more speed from cpu. It'd be great to bet 12.5x 200 at 2500Mhz.        I believe I got a good cpu for oc'ing can take the heat (oh yea, I'm replacing Tt Silent Boost fan with 92MM H/S fan at I believe 81 CFM's @ 3600 RPM's( instead of 27.5 CFM's @ ~2500  RPM's).  Noise doesn't bother me, I'm deaf in one ear anyways. I just want to push my system to edge of envelope (so to speak).   Actually I'm cheap, I want a 3200+ at 2500+ prices.

• Video display driver for Trident Cyber9525DVD PCI/AGP (W98.23)

I am having problems finding a suitable (generic) driver for my video card. I'm installing Solaris 8 for Intel on an Acer Travelmate 330T laptop with a Trident Cyber9525DVD PCI/AGP (W98.23) display adapter. The installation was successful but it just couldn't get into the CDE. Could anybody help me? Thanks.

Hi:
See if this driver works.  If it doesn't, you will need to install a 64 bit operating system if you want to run windows 7.
I know this driver works for the Celeron N processors, but I don't know if it will work with the Pentium N processors.
Download, unzip and run the setup.exe file.

• PCI/AGP Clock

Anyone out there who knows some software which can measure the PCI/AGP clock on an AMD64 based board.
Cheers!

Nice, thanks.
I checked that one out, but I saw no version for the K8T Master so I disregarded it. I'll try the ASUS one right away.
Edit:
Tried it out and played around with all the values I can find in the BIOS but no matter what I do or what I raise/lower the PCI and AGP clock stays at 33/66 MHz.
Even the setting, Autodetect PCI clock, doesn't affect anything I can see.

• KT880 DELTA & PCI/AGP Lock ?

I read some article about KT880 DELTA and there was written, it has PCI/AGP lock .. is it right ? If yes, which setting in BIOS is it ?
thx for any answer

I have heard this board will have that feature, but I cannot confirm it. If it does have the PCI/AGP lock, it would be the first VIA chipset to include this feature.
I would think it could be found in the "Frequency and Voltage" section of BIOS.

• 648 max pci/agp optinn

Dear Sir,
My system is:
Msi 648 MAX  ver1.1 HT ready
Intel P4 2.4Ghz 512KB bus 100 Mhz
Msi MX440SE-T AGP 64MB DDR
WD 80GB 7200 HDD
Samsung 52-24-52 CD-RW
Creative modem blaster v.90 di5655
P.S. Logic 300W
Win 98SE & WinXp
My problem is :
The bios has an option in the frequency/voltage control menu called
AGP/PCI Frequency (MHz)
which gives me the ability to adjust the pci/agp bus clock frequency.
This option doesn't work, and my clue is
1-  When I adjust my CPU FSB more than 110 MHz (PCI > 36.66 MHZ) and this option to 66/33 the computer boots normally until it starts loading the O.S. and errors saying that the OS cannot start due to lost system files, or Read Write error to Aux device, or it hangs.
2- When I adjust this option to 80/40 and the CPU FSB to Auto (100 MHz), the computer boots normally and load the O.S. normally and everything goes just fine. and Sandra software reports the PCI clock frequency as 33 MHz.
Thats to say that the PCI/CPU FSB ratio is fixed at 1/3 regardless to any value selected in this option.
2nd problem is
The DMI of this board which report wrong information either by your included DMI program or by any other software like Sandra Software for the following items:
1- Supported memory types: Standard, Fast Page, Edo, Parity, ECC, SiMM         ( supports 184-pin unbuffered DDR DIMM without ECC, manual page 1-2)
2- Supported memory voltage: 3.3V         (2.5v manual page. 2-5)
3- Number of memory slots: 4 slots         ( There are only 3 slots)
4- PCI slots: 5                                       ( There are 6 slots)
5- ISA slots: 2                                       (There is no ISA slots on this Board)
                                                            Faithfully,

• PCI/AGP IRQ conflict in Win2000

Frenchy writing from France
Angry & impatient I am, but first things first, my specs:
PSU: Antec Trueblue 480W
Mboard: K7N2 Delta-L, BIOS 5.2
RAM: 2*512 Mb PC3200 Samsung, set at 400Mhz
CPU: Athlon XP 2400+, set(o/c) at 11*200 (thus 1:1 with RAM)
Winfast Geforce 4Ti 4200 AGP 4X
Creative SBlive 1024 now in PCI slot 3
HSF: Taisol CGK760172, fan in extraction mode (to reduce chipset temp by 5°C!!!)
Enermax 80mm case fan
Two recent HDDs (Maxtor) & optical drives (Liteon)
USB ADSL modem
APIC disabled
OS: Microsh*t Windows 2000, SP4
System status: CPU 49°C, chipset 47°C (weather temp: 41°C!)
Here goes:
My system sometimes crashes when I simultaneously play a movie, and an mp3 (I get a "sound loop", system freezes, no blue screen but I need to reboot) or on even rarer occasions (only once, actually) when I send an email (this time I got the dreaded blue screen.
I have pinpointed a possible and highly probable cause for this: my Vcard and soundcard share the same IRQ (IRQ11 to be precise). My SBlive used to be on PCI slot 2. This was (and still is!) my IRQ share/conflicts table:

IRQ 11   OpenHCD standard USB Host Controller
IRQ 11   OpenHCD standard USB Host Controller
IRQ 11   Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
IRQ 11   Creative SB Live! Value
IRQ 11   NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200

IRQ11 is thus not shared only by the Vcard & sound card, but something told me that the first 3 lines of the table did not matter, however I've often heard (and read, even in this forum) that having a graphics card & sound card share the same IRQ is definitely not a good idea and should be avoided by all means.
Forgive my lack of knowledge, for I'm but a mere newbie in this matter. This I tried:
- Enabling APIC (whatever it is ?( I just know that it sort of "creates" more IRQs), to no avail: the number of IRQs, their layout and conflicts table remained unchanged.
- Moving SBlive from slot 2 to slot 3 and reinstalling its drivers: NOTHING changed either, soundcard IRQ remained at 11 !!!  ?(  ?(  ?(
Upon entering 'system properties' and 'devices', when selecting the SBlive card, in the 'resource' thumbnail, everything is greyed out, no parameters can be changed! Same thing applies to other devices such as Vcard, too...
A most desperate situation this is, for it would seem that changing a PCI card's IRQ in Windows 2000 is simply IMPOSSIBLE, sacrebleu!
Needless to say, this makes me mad X( , I mean really, really MAD

If anyone could help...

Changing WHAT??? If you mean the IRQ, as I said that seems impossible in Win2000 (if somehow could tell me how I'd be most grateful). If you meant changing APIC setting to 'enabled', how do I enable it in windows?
But the question remains: how is it that when changing soundcard's PCI slot its IRQ remains unchanged?? ?(

• Pci/agp Lock

Can anyone tell me if there is a way of establishing whether the KN8 NEO 2 PLATINUM WIFI has a fully funtional AGP/PCI LOCK.
Custom PC says it does not others insist it does. I believed that Nvidia had long since cracked this issue on Nforce 3 250 Ultra boards

How can I overclock my Ram, I purchased it because of it's ability to run much faster and retain tight timings. I cannot see how to increase it's speed, does this depend on processor or FSB setting.
Can anyone explain what I need to do to achieve a reasonable overclock,  bios settings etc...

• MSI!! where is the AGP-PCI Divder

Does anybody know when MSI will fix the AGP-PCI speed in the bios so we can raise the frontbuss without the mobo going bananas.
One thing would be nice is to see the PCI-AGP speed in the bios, so i can see how much the speed is raised when overclocking.
Will they add AGP-PCI dividers like ABIT has done for their socket 754 mobo KV8 MAX 3
MSI K8T NEO FIS2R

I don't think it's going to happen my friends.  If you search for some past posts on this issue, you'll see that a PCI/AGP lock is not possible with the K8T800 chipset on any board.  Via is known for this kind of thing.  If you look at this BIOS revision history for the ABit K8V Max3, there is no mention of any PCI/AGP divider.  Anantech did an article in the past about this problem.  There is a new ABit board coming out soon based on the K8T880 Pro (or something like that) that may have these dividers, but unfortunately,  I really don't think it will not happen on our boards.  If you have a link to that article on Anandtech about the Abit dividers, please post it.

• MOVED: KT3 Ultra + Barton -- overclocking results

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
KT3 Ultra + Barton --> overclocking results

I'll try to answer a few questions raised:
zip227:
5.7 is designed for all the KT3 motherboards, ARU or not, Ultra or Ultra2.
Do not use "Auto", always configure it manually, especially if you want to go higher than 133.
Your PC2700 allows you to set the FSB at 166. Since your CPU is unlocked, I would try setting 12*166, for a start. If temperature remains under 55°C (idle) and if an hour of Prime95 does not give you an error, then increase the coefficient 12-->12.5-->13-->...  until you reach the temperature limit or get errors.
Okay:
Thats the whole point! The first KT3 Ultra1 does not officially support Bartons, but in practice, it does!
MSI never gave an explanation as to why they pretend it does not work, as far as I know.
There is no PCI/AGP lock, but there is a PCI/AGP divider, as explained in the original post. The consequence is: you may run into instabilities at FSBs between 145 and 152, but it may automagically work with an FSB above 152!
BarryB:
Since my Barton is locked, I just incremented FSB 2-3 steps at a time.
At 178, it would not even load Windows.
At 176, it would load Windows but would crash randomly + temperature under load would reach the KT3's safety shutdown CPU limit too (64°C on my board).
At 175, it works fine. I ran Prime95 for a couple of hours, and CPU temperature under load maxed at 63°C.
Note I use a silent TT fan (2300rpm only), and have a poorly ventilated case, so your max FSB may differ . Also, I will probably have crashes when the room's temperature rises in summer.
