PCi-e 16 slot would not acknowledge my x600?

Heya guys, I just buit my new comp, specs are
RS482M4-ILD
500 WATT Aspire PS
AMD Athlon 64 Bit 3000
Kingston ValueRAM 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory
On-Board  Sound
WIN XP 32 Bit w/ xp1
Well I purchases a x600pro 256 meg card from geeks.com, when I tried to install it, it would not work. I turned my onboard video off, and put the card in, I would still get nothing. Hmm? I tried resetting my cmos and letting it auto detect, yet that did not work either. I sent the card back thinking it was a bad car, yet it posted on there machine, so is it a bad slot? An update I do not have? A re-call? Let me know please. Thanks

Looking at ur sig I see U coorently use a X300. I gues that's a PCI-ex card too ??
What does the d-bracket say when you start up with the X600 ?

  • My very new MacBook Pro will not acknowledge that I have my camera plugged in, so I am unable to download any pictures.

This year for Christmas I recieved the newest version of the MacBook Pro. It has worked perfectly, until today. I went to download pictures off of my camera on to my computer, and the computer would not acknowledge that anything was plugged in. I tried each USB port, I restarted and shut down the computer several times, I left it in for a while without touching it, I tried logging in as a guest user, and I tried using a Card Reader instead of the camera cord. But absolutely nothing worked.
I found that the problem wasn't the camera cord or camera, because I tried plugging it into a different MacBook Pro and it worked just fine. I had the computer plugging in the entire time so it couldn't have been that the computer was just low on power. The really weird thing is I tried to plug my iphone into my computer and that worked fine.
Has this ever happened to anyone before? Can you give me some advice? I am very frustrated because this computer is basically brand new and its supposed to be a very high quality computer.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • MSI NF980-G65 PCI express x16 slot question

i was rewiring my case so i could get some cables out of the way, and as i was removing my graphics card, i pressed too hard on the little blue tail on the topmost PCI slot (the one closest to the processor socket) and the tail fell off. it looks like a bit of plastic chipped off the actual slot where the tail connects to the board, but i'm not sure if there's any damage to the slot, or if the slot has anything that has been compromised. the chip off the pci express x16 slot does not reach into the slot itself, there's no hole in the slot, i dont believe any of the connectors are touched, but i could be wrong.
here's a picture of the motherboard with the tail on the top PCI express x16 slot.

    to clarify,
it's just there to help guide the card in place and it's not a tab that releases a mechanism which physically lock the card in place.
its actually lock the card in a place, but will be fine without it as well,
when its filled well into the slot and secured by the screws

  • Distance between two PCIe x 16 slot of P55 GD85

    Hello,
Does anyone have an idea what is the clear distance between two PCIe x 16 slot of P55 GD85? planning to get one if my 2 x GTX 285 with modified cooling fan will fit in. each VGA with modified fan is around 55mm in height.
    thank you,

Exactly, there was no "rude" intention or the will to provoke you behind my previous answer.  In fact, I spent 15 minutes to find a ruler in order to measure the port distance on three different ATX Board to make sure I am not telling you anything wrong.  I would not have bothered to do that if I had been planning to write a rude reply.
[On the flip side: Personally, I find it kind of rude that you are accusing me of 'rudeness'.  However, I suggest we better drop the whole 'who is really being rude here' discussion.]
    Quote
The distance between the center lines of two neighbouring slots is always ~ 2.05cm.  There are two slots between the PCI-E-x16 slots of the P55-DG85.  Simply do the math!
    Quote
    I am not a mathematician
The distance between the center lines of the two PCI-E-x16-slots of the P55-GD85 is ~6.15cm (there are two more slots in between --> 2.05cm x 3).
    This means that this ...

each VGA with modified fan is around 55mm in height.
    ... should actually fit.

  • PCI Card & 4 bay enclosure not showing up on MacPro

I have a pre-09 MacPro and a WiebeTech RTX400H-SV bay enclosure which connects via eSata. Before today I had no problem using drives in any of the 4 bays. But today I started it up and it wouldn't come on the desktop. I checked for it ref Drive Utility in case it just needed to be mounted, and it didn't show up [I had 2 drives in the enclosure just in case]. Then I checked the System Info and it says that I have a PCI card in Slot 3 [it's a 2 slot eSata card] and it says "pci1095,3132 OtherMass Storage Controller PCI Slot3" and driver not installed. I don't even recall where I got the PCI card - do I need the PCI card driver or the RTX driver and if the first, how do I know where to get the right drive? I don't know why it's not on the computer = if it is somewhere what would it be called or what extension would it have and where would it go???

Your answer prompted me to not only check your link but see if I had any records or information around here ref. what the card was. Fortunately, I saved the box and it's a Tempo Sata E2P card from Sonnet. I went to its site and was able to find a driver, downloaded and installed it and voila, the disks in the enclosure appear on the desktop.
Thanks so much for the lead!!!

  • Need help enabling PCI Express graphics slot on HP envy 700. HELP!

Hello, My name is Patrick. Im 14 and I need sombodys help. Before you finish reading and your about to leave a suggetion for me, Im ONLY 14 and im not that good with cpu WORDS. For instince, I had to search up what the pci express graphics slot was xD. Last time i tried to do this i had to call mutiple numbers that led me to breaking my cpu. If anybody could leave STEP-BY-STEP instructions to enable that pci express graphics i would be very appretiated. Now here are the things i know for sure. This craphics card is a Geforce 650 graphics card that i know for a fact can work on my Hp Envy desktop. I have enought power suplyage to power sed Graphics card. So I already know how to insert the card, But thats pretty much it. I dont know if i have to have the External graphics card in while enabling the pci graphics. So Please be very discrptive while you answer this. I have already failed once, and had to send in my cpu to the repair station in hp. THAT TOOK 15 DAYS! It is expose to be on my front porch in 2 days. The grapics card is a $115 dollar item that i do not want to return because it seems that it can improve my frames while playing my Video games. So if anybody could help me with this i would be very thankful. Just leave the steps down below in VERY discriptive words that a 14 year old would understand. Thank you. Lastly I know what the bios is and also how to get there. Thats is all, THANKS YOU I forgot to tell you. The BIGEST PROBLEM I HAD IS whenever i plugged in my graphics card it would show a black screen on my moniter as i would boot it  Up. I need help getting that picture

    Hi:
Did you change the required BIOS settings before you installed your new video card?
If not, please follow the instructions at the link below...

If that doesn't get the video card to work, unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

  • PCI 2.1 SLot on K7T Turbo Limited Edition?

I'm about to get a Firewire Card but I'm not sure whether my MB :   K7T Turbo Limited Edition (MS-6330 v3.X) has a PCI 2.1 slot. I haven't found it in manual either. Can anybody help?
    Thanks
    minurec

    Welcome!
My Turbo2 manual doesn't specify either, but specs on MSI site for mine shows 32 bit PCI 2.2, usually backward compatible. Your MB is just one very short edition back, and I bet your slots are probably the same and 2.1 compatible. MSI shows yours as 32 bit, but w/o the #version. To my memory the 2.1 standard predates our MBs by a couple of years or more. I think you're safe to go.

  • Memory works in either slot, but not both at same time?

Hi, I've recently purchased some ram to upgrade my girlfriend's powerbook G4 15" 1.3ghz, 2x1gb chips. Before I installed it, I noticed the mac was only reporting 512meg of ram when we thought there was 1gb. Sure enough, there were actually 2x512 in there, but only 1 chip was being recognized. So, I tried the new ram anyway, to find of course that it would only recognize 1 of the 1gb chips also. In searching, of course, I've found all sorts of info on the lower slots going bad, but I've found in testing that any of the 4 chips (2 512mb and 2 1gb) will work in either slot, just not 2 chips at a time. So, both the upper & lower slots will actually function.
When I run the hardware test on the restore cd (sorry, I'm probably using the wrong name for this. I don't have it in front of me, and I generally.. gasp.. use PC's) I get this error:
    post/0/2048 SODIMM0/J25LOWER
Now, she did upgrade to leopard maybe 6 months ago, but other than that, no major changes.
So, my questions would be, is this the same as the lower slot failure that everyone is having? Or is this something different? And, of course, is there anything I can do or try to fix it?
Oh, ya, and, this machine is well out of it's warranty, so hopefully no expensive repairs are needed?

Hi, beardo. My guess, and that's all it is, is that you have the beginnings of a classic lower RAM slot failure. I suspect, and it's only a suspicion, that lower RAM slot failures are caused by cracked solder joints, which in turn are caused by repetitive heat-related expansion and contraction of components on the logic board including the RAM sockets. My hunch, and it's only a hunch (have I qualified this post enough yet?) is that your lower slot is coming unstuck from the logic board only to the extent, so far, that when the spring-loaded slot is stressed in the particular way that having RAM modules in both slots produces, a crucial lower-slot contact is broken and the RAM in it isn't seen. When the lower slot and/or the logic board is stressed a little differently, by having a module in only one slot, the contact isn't broken. I imagine that the tolerances involved are minute: probably thousandths of an inch. I won't be surprised if the problem worsens to the point that your lower slot is completely undetected, particularly if you keep stressing the hardware by inserting and removing RAM modules in both slots, trying to find the cause. And I have nothing at all to suggest except all this guesswork and this repair option. I wish I could offer something more promising and helpful.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8625 - Will not acknowledge incoming fax while in sleep mode

HP Officejet Pro 8625 - Will not acknowledge incoming fax while in sleep mode. The sender receives an error "no answer".
When I call the fax number, if I touch the screen it will wake up immediately to receive the fax.
Printing from the computer while in sleep mode works fine.
Please advise.  Im missing important faxes and can only set sleep mode to a maximum of 15 mins, so I have an alarm set to touch my machine every 15 mins. sigh...
    Thank you,

    Hi Willia,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see when your HP Officejet Pro 8625 enters sleep mode, you are unable to receive any incoming faxes. The senders will receive a 'no answer' error. I understand your printer will wake up from sleep mode if you send a print job.
First let's go ahead and make sure the OJ 8625 is plugged directly into a wall outlet, using a power bar or surge protector can cause the printer to lose basic functionality over time. To get a better understanding take a look here: Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
Now, I would like you to update your printers Firmware, click on the link below and follow the on screen instructions:

  • Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 PCI (4 RAM Slots) - want to upgrade to 8GB?

My computer is a Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 PCI (4 RAM Slots)
Is there any way I can break out of the 4GB RAM limit into the world of 8GB RAM without having to buy a newer computer. I need to open a large 4.5GB TGA file in After Effects (48000 pixels x 36000 pixels).
Failing that, is there an application like RAM doubler I could use temporarily to get me though this job?
Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 PCI (4 RAM Slots)   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   Currently have 4GB RAM installed

If there is not enough RAM, OSX will use space on the disk drive, so the amount of RAM should not limit the file size an application can handle, but speed will be reduced. 32-bit addressing can restrict the use of huge files, but there are ways that applications can get around it (at the expense of lower speed).
If After Effects has a file size limit, extra RAM will not help A later version (maybe using 64-bit mode) may handle larger files. 64-bit applications can be written to run in Tiger on G5s, but will be easier to write when Leopard is released.
You may be able to use some other application, such as Photo Shop, or Graphics Converter, to extract part of the TGA file, or reduce its size by changing its resolution, so you can use the result in After Effects.

  • [SOLVED]Arch not acknowledging wireless card.

So Im a returning user, feel like a total newb again.
I recently purchased an "Asus k53sv-xr1"
The wireless card inside is "Intel Centrino Wireless-N 100," I determined this by installing the proper driver in windows and checking the device manage (as asus could not answer my question as to the model number and the spec indicate "integrated blahblahblah"
Following the "Wireless Setup Instructions" I did the following (filling the xs' with their respective version numbers)
    "Installing Firmware (Microcode)
Important: Installing these firmware packages is not required since the 2.6.34 kernel update, when the firmware files were moved to the linux-firmware package.
If you need wireless connectivity to access pacman's repositories, the firmware files are also available direct from Intel. See this  page, select and download the archive.
    $ wget http://intellinuxwireless.org/iwlwifi/downloads/iwlwifi-XXXX-ucode-XXX.XX.X.XX.tgz"
After downloading, you must extract and copy the *.ucode file to the firmware directory, commonly /lib/firmware
    # tar zxvf iwlwifi-XXXX-ucode-XXX.XX.X.XX.tgz
    # cd iwlwifi-XXXX-ucode-XXX.XX.X.XX/
    # cp iwlwifi-XXXX-X.ucode /lib/firmware/"
The wireless setup manual goes on to say that
"If MOD_AUTOLOAD is set to yes in /etc/rc.conf (it is by default) that should be all that is required. Simply check for the presence of the drivers by running ip addr from a terminal. There should be a listing for wlan0."
    My outputs are the following
    lspci | grep -i net

If anything I have (re)learned some things about whats going on, which...ultimately led to more questions.
First these two snippets led me to some interesting ideas.
See this  page, select and download the archive."
    From the  "Wireless Setup" Wiki
    and
    "Using kernels 2.6.24 and up
These kernels have the iwlwifi driver included and the released drivers (available from this site under download page) do  not  work with these kernels. If you want to run the latest (or very close to it) development code with your kernel then you should use the compat-wireless project that retrieves the latest driver development code from the  upstream repository. We do push our changes to this repository very frequently."
Which means that the firmware I downladed from http://intellinuxwireless.org/?p=iwlwifi, would not work.
I reinstalled, this time including the all the "iwl" packages from the "dev" section of the packages.
    The result was the same.
    dmesg | grep -i iw
    would report nothing at all
    until i input the command
    modprobe iwlagn
then dmesg | grep -i iw would report
iwlagn: Intel(r) Wireless WiFi Link AGN driver for linux, 2.6.33-ARCH-ks
    iwlagn: Copyright(c) 2003-2009 Intel Corporation
I really wanted to figure this out the arch way, but I can find little to no threads on my specific card.."Intel Centrino N-100 Wireless"
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I will boot the ubuntu live cd and hope that wireless is automatically configured, that way I can at the very least, attempt to figure out what model card it reports and try again with that information.
My question, other than "can anyone provide some insight as to why the system can detect the card, but not be able to bring wlan0 up", is can modprobe insert modules that do not correspond with what is actually in the machine?
    Thank you

  • Lightroom is not acknowledging changes made and saved in Photoshop Elements 11

I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 and Lightroom 4 to use together.  I am a novice and new to photography and these softwares.  However, I used both together in trial versions and did not have this problem.
When I start in Lightroom with an image, then take it to Photoshop to do some work with liquify,  save it, return to Lightroom... Lightroom is not acknowledging the new changes made in Photoshop.  When I ran the trial versions,  they did.   How do I get that feature to work again, is there a setting I'm missing?

Actually  it started working and I'm not sure why or if I did anything different.  I did't do save as, no.  I kow I would have to go upload it again.    I ended up just shutting down both programs  entirely, fired them back up and it's working fine now.   I probably should have done that and/or rebooted my machine before writing in the question .   Thanks though!

  • ACARD AEC-6860M PCI RAID ATA 66 card not showing connected hard drives

I just installed an ACARD AEC-6860M PCI card in my G4 (Quicksilver 2002) and am having some difficulty getting Disk Utility to recognize the drives. I know other people in these forums have used this particular card before (Related thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5688908), so I'm hoping you can help me.
The AEC-6860M is a PCI RAID card for 2 ATA drives. I've installed the drivers for the card and verified that it appears in System Profiler. However, no combination of drives or cables makes the 2 drives I have connected to it visible in System Profiler (under SCSI or ATA) or in Disk Utility, so I can't format them and actually use them.
Can anyone share any secrets? Thanks!
    (See card details at http://store.mcetech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&ProductCode=ACA-AEC-6860M&Category_Code=CLRNCINTCARDS&ProductCount=1)

    Hello birdy.....,
Sorry to take so long responding. Major disaster! My whole wall bookcase just tumbled, and I'm still working at excavating the family (of Macs).
Your card should work. I've used the Acard cards by the dozens without problem, though I've never used that particular 6860 card or set up a RAID ARRAY. Just checked, using a 6880 (RAID) though as a controller card and not as a RAID ARRAY, and found that my 2002 QS Mac would not see a standard hard drive(#2) running OSX (10.2) that had been formatted by the OSX install disk using the stock bus on the motherboard. It would, however, see a hard drive(#3) that had been formatted while connected to an ACARD controller card (6280). I'm guessing that an OSX installer disk is prepared to see and to deal with a SCSI drive, and that Disk Utility is not.
    Check that.
Just removed the controller card formatted drive(#3) and re-installed the OSX(10.2) drive(#2); this time my 2002 QS saw it right away, both on the desktop and in disk utility. I guess it needed personal messenger service.
As I recall, I've seen that happen before using controller cards; as a result, I've always taken care to format a new hard drive by connecting it to a controller card if that is the way I intend to use it. Hard drives can be capricious, sometimes. At any rate, try formatting your hard drive(s) with an OSX installer disk (hoping you have one) while connected to the ACARD controller card - just click on erase (twice) and the drive formats automatically.
I'm a little mystified by reference to drivers; never installed any drivers, and always assumed none were needed.
Hope that helps. Check back and let me know.

  • Radeon 7950 wont work in primary Z77 Mpower PCI 3.0 Slot?! Help!

I bought an MSI Z77 Mpower motherboard with I7 3770K and HIS Radeon 7950 ICEq Boost Edition 3gb back in January.
Ever since I built the computer it WILL NOT boot up with the GPU card in the first/primary PCI 3.0 slot of the motherboard, it just startsup with a black screen, no bios, post or anything. Just a black screen with the fans going.
This card will boot up perfectly fine in the middle PCIe slot. But it runs slower in this slot, at PCIe x2 3.0.
I had the card RMA'd at the time and it came back as fine, and it works in my brothers computer too.
It just WILL not work in the first PCIe slot on the Z77 Mpower.
My much older Radeon 4850 works perfectly fine in the primary/first PCIe slot, and computer boots and works as normal.
So it seems to be a Z77 mpower - HD 7950 incompatibility?
Can anyone advise on this because its doing my head in?!
BIOS is flashed to the latest version as of yesterday and still no joy.
    Many thanks
    Chris

I'd love to swap to Z77-Mpower, but it doesn't have any PCI slot needed for my M-Audio sound card ;-)
I forgot to mention when we've been checking hardware: if I were you, I'd swap HIS 7950 to another 7950 (Asus, MSI, preferably Sapphire, whatsoever) to check compatibility instead of selling out motherboard. It's great piece of hardware, so I'd blame graphic card first than motherboard - for incompatibility. HIS is one of the cheapest vendors (not the cheapest, like VTX3D for example), so maybe it was a reason.
    It's a proof that M-Power works with other 7950s:

    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=379882
I hope you'll find a proper solution, Asus motherboard is one of the options, too - but it requires main drivers reinstall (graphic card requires just Catalyst reinstal AFAIK).
