Hello everyone.  I am having issues with the built-in card reader in my HP dv6t-7000.  I know that this kind of question has been asked before, but I am unable to find a solution.  I am new to Arch, but have used almost ALL other distros.  Arch is the first Linux on my laptop.   Now down to the details.

  • AXI memory mapped to PCI Express BAR0 size in Root Complex

I am using AXI memory mapped to PCI express (2.5) IP as a Root complex in my design.
I have selected the maximum BAR0 Size as 2 GB under PCIE:BARS and AXI-PCIe BAR translation as 0x00000000.
I want to access a memory in the host side of the Root complex using an endpoint.
When I tried to access the address more than 0x7FFF_FFFF from the endpoint in my testbench, the transaction is getting lost in the PCIe section of the IP. I don't see any AXI transaction in the output of the AXI.
Any transaction from the endpoint to address less than 0x80000000 goes through.
Is this a limitation in the IP?
What is the solution if we want to access 4GB of memory from the endpoint thorugh the Root complex?

    Hi Suresh,
This is a known issue with the core.  This is targeted for fix in the next Vivado release, where you will either have the option of selecting a 4G BAR for the RP, or masking out the RP BAR altogether, which will allow the full 4G memory space to accept requests from the downstream devices.

  • PCI Express v1.7 timing simulation hangs on link training

    Using:  ISE 14.7, PCI Express Endpoint core 1.7 (2.5GT/s, 125MHz, 4-lane, Gen1, for ML605, verilog), p/n xc6vlx240t (ff1156, -1), QuestaSim-64 10.3
Successfully did functional simulations of Xilinx supplied example_design for PL_TRAIN_FAST either 'TRUE' or 'FALSE'.  The latter takes longer as expected. The message "Transaction Link Is Up" comes at ~10.7ms for FALSE, or ~15us for TRUE.
However, after implementation, timing simulation hangs after message "Transaction Reset Is De-asserted" which should be followed by "Transaction Link Is Up".  Tried both TRUE and FALSE for the root endpoint model (N/A for the endpoint model for timing simulation) but no difference.  Ran the sim up to ~300msec (took many hours) but still no link up.
Tried making changes per AR#42123 but no difference.
    What's wrong?
Also note, there was no timing simulation folder provided by Xilinx in this particular example_design -- why?

    Hi,
Default testbench, example design do not support upstream transfers
Please enable BME for EP and RC and retry

  • Heavy Modifications on T420s system (BIOS Modifications, CPU Swap, PCI Express Routing)

Hello everyone, i was looking into going for a large project on modifying a t420s system.
I was planning on "Pulling" pci express lanes from the chipset and routing them outside for a custom made addon that needs 4 pci express lanes. (at worst 1pci express lane - excluding the one provided by the expressPort34)
Also i was looking onto swapping the i7-2620 with an 2960xm. (i know that it calls for some soldering and complex smd work but fortunatley i know i can do this). I know the chipset (QM67) Supports the CPU and 16GB Ram, has plenty of pci express lanes and many unused.
Some things i wanted to know are:
Is there a way to get the cmplete schematics of the system? The logical interconnection of pci express devices.
Is there some sort of protection against BIOS reflash? I plan on using w520 bios for refference on t420s bios modification.
Also is there a way to get the complete full map of logical links on the system? Like all standart devices that are USB (Example: Fingerprint reader).
Obiously i know that this completely voids the warranty.
    Any help will be appreciated.
If someone is an expert on thinkpads please help me on this project. I will post and article after i finish the project and give proper credits.

You might want to look into the pinout on the docking port, if you can find details. Perhaps there is a pci express lane or two on there.

  • Is it possible to add an extra Graphics card: ATI X300 SE PCI express

I have a PowerMac G5 with ATI Radeon 9600 XT(AGP) installed. Recently my friend gave me a ATI X300 SE PCI express card and I am wondering whether I can add this card in the G5 and hook up another monitor to it.
The ATI and Apple websites didn't mention this card is supported, so should I just give up this idea? Thanks.

Another reason you can't use the ATI X300 -- it has Windows PC ROM code. You can only use cards in the Power Mac with OS X compatible firmware.
As of this date, the fastest AGP card you can buy to replace your old one is the Mac Edition of the Radeon X800 XT. It runs $399 from various sources (ATI online store, Apple online store, MacSales.com, SmallDog.com, and Buy.com).

  • Tecra M9 - PCI Express Error at start-up

    Hello Everybody ..
    I own a Toshiba Tecra M9 (PTM91E-04R03TEN)
    http://www.toshiba.ie/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?service=IE#tab0;
On switching on,- Its Showing the Toshiba splach screen and then "PCI Express error." on a black screen
I can't get beyond this Black Screen
    and I can't get into BIOS ??..
One time it did manage to boot up fully, I left it running for a while as I save information from the HDD. but then the problem started again .
I believe this is a problem with the nvidia GPU ( Fatigue cracking on the BGA )
I have the Laptop stripted down .. and have purchased ArctiClean , Thermal Pad, & Arctic Silver for the "repair"
Should I have somebody scan the hardware and to find the troublemaker ? ..OR.. should I just reflow the GPU .
    I'm technically minded .. but not a PC / Laptop technican :(..
any Instruction on how to proceed would be greatfully received ..
Should i just " bung it in the oven" and see how it goes ? :) :) .
    Regards,
    Peter

    Hi
I found and read your other post regarding this issue and in my opinion the PCI Express error is related to an PCI device (i.e miniPCI module like WLan / Bluetooth, etc ) connected to the motherboard.
Of course I cannot say for sure that this issue isnt related to a GPU malfunction.
Usually such details can be provided only by an service engineer who checked the notebooks hardware.
Generally I dont recommend to disassemble the notebook. Its very tricky to perform such procedure and of course there is always a risk of part damage doing such procedure without any instructions.

  • Can I add a PCI Express eSATA card to my G5

it is installed in the x16 slot. i tried gen 1 x1 slot i was getting pathetic 130MB/s what is going... on new egg people with this drive and the controller are getting more than 400MB/s
btw i overclocked pci express and it improved the speed i dont get it what is going on...

Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit, Video card is EVGA GTX295, Marvell 91xx Sata 6G Controller Driver is 1.0.0.1034.
    Oh wow that is crazy.
So there are only 2 explanations left since I only have GTX260.
    1. I have some fluke Rev 0 motherboard.
    2. Marvell chip doesn't like Crucial SSDs. Which I did hear kind of on Crucial forum. (I am thinking this).
To finally conclude it is Crucial SSD, can you take me which revision/model of motherboard you have? I think i seen it on a corner of the motherboard printed. Or in the bios.
I'll get mine from the BIOS tonight.
Also I wonder if overclocking the CPU increase the speed.... I asked brasstech if he overclocked... I hope he did, that would explain things.

  • Desktop is not defaulting to PCI Express video card

Installed a Nvidia GTX 560TI w/appropriate power supply AFTER disabling secure boot and enabling legacy support.  The computer booted to the video card after the second try reboot, drivers successfully installed.  Later after attempting to wake the computer from sleep it has defaulted back to the onboard video WITHOUT restarting.  Now will not recognize PCI express card.

    Hi,
What power supply are your using?  The stardard HP 460 watt power supply is insufficient for the NVIDIA 560 TI as it requires two 6 pin PCI-E power connectors.
Go back into the BIOS and make sure that Legacy mode is enabled and Secure boot is disabled. Save the changes and power off. Now power up and see if the system recognizes the discrete video card.
BTW - the PC needs to completely power down and back up before the BIOS will rescan for hardware changes.
