PCI Express X-FI Xtreme Audio - Mic and mixer problems

6PCI Express X-FI Xtreme Audio - Mic and mixer problems' Trouble started two days ago when I updated to the latest X-FI drivers. Now I have no mixer and I can't figure out how to get my mic to work. The only thing that has changed is the updating of drivers. I am using senheiser headphones with mic for use on ventrillo. In the old set up I could go into the mixer and tell the software that the Line-In was a mic and it would work perfectly. Now I can't get the mic to work at all since there is no creative mixer. The windows mixer doesn't allow you to do anything worth wild.
I don't have the old software so I can't go back to the old setup. I am using Vista 64. What the heck am I doing wrong? Why won't the software now recognize that I am plugging in a mic!?!?!?
BAH!!!!
PLEASE HELP!

Doesn't Vista have some sort of automatic checkpointing feature that gives you a way to back up to a point before you updated the drivers?

  • Need help with PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio - Vista

Hi, bought this card pci exprss x-fi xtreme audio and installed, had a lot of problems in vista 64. Using a logitech z5500 5. soundsystem and first tried using the optical spdif to get DTS etc working but to no joy... Started using the 3.5 kables but nothing there either. And I cant find options to set the treble and base? the sound is really medioker as it is now.
Using the latest drivers for the card issued in may 08, latest alchemy and console files. what to do?
    Dave?

    To Collipa and Dudeface:
If you installed the support pack for the card but still have driver problems, have you used windowsudpate under Windows 7? Creative submitted a basic driver for the card that shows up in driver options under Windows Update. If you can let Windows Update install that driver, then you can update AFTER rebooting with the new one.
If that windowsupdate did not work, try this:
Download the newest driver for your card. Then, if you already have winace, winzip, winrar or even the free 7Zip, then you can right click that Creative executable file and then choose to........extract to......and do so to a temporary folder on your desktop or say, c:\Creative driver.
Then go to device manager and sound video and game controllers, and to your problem sound card, click driver, and update driver and browse my computer for software, and "let me pick"? and "have disk" and then browse to.......
    C:\Creative driver\Install\wdm
Whereever you downlaoded the file to, the important directory is the INSTALL\WDM and choose OK and it should show Creative X-FI. Let it copy files, and it does take awhile, and then reboot and see if your sound card works.
here is the newest driver for your card:

  • S/PDIF options for PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card non-existant!

Hey guys, I've been searching around for this for a while now and I still come up with anything...
I currently have a PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card installed in my PC, and this cound card has a built-in optical output port. I have been trying to set the sound card to use this port and I still can not find anyway around it.
I have searched the support pages and they always go back and say that I can enable audio on that port using the Digital I/O icon in the media console (I'm in Entertainment mode btw, doesn't seem like I can change that). However, I don't have that icon present in my media console. I tried upgrading drivers, updating software but still to no avail
So right now i'm running Windows XP (32-bit) and what seem to be the latest software and drivers for this card, and none of this is making any sense to me and so I believe that I am going mad!
I am honestly starting to believe that the port is just there for decoration...

This seems to be a fairly common issue across out in the market.
Do you not think it would be worth while chasing this down internal to Creative and sharing the solution with everyone?
Pointing us one at a time to support for what should be readily available drivers doesn't make a lot of sense.

  • PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio - Win7 FlexiJack

I just upgrade my PC to Window7 and installed the new driver.
For some reason, the FlexiJack will NOT recognise my mic on my headphone.
The output is always set to speakers without the option of setting it to headphone as well..
I am not able to set it to mic and when I right click to bring up the menu, the set to default is grey out? Right now.. it's just not happening..
Can someone please advise me what I could be doing wrong?
BTW - there is no flexijack tab in the creative audio control panel.

  • PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio dissapears in Windows 7

I use a Mac Pro and run Windows 7 under bootcamp. Previously, Vista recognized the same audio card on the same machine. When I switched to Windows 7 I didn't see the X-Fi appear under audio devices, however after several attempts it finally 'found' the X-Fi board and it functioned properly. The problem is the X-Fi keeps 'disappearing' from Windows 7. When I re-boot it 'finds' it again but then after a short period of time loses it again.
Any ideas as to why it finds it and it functions briefly after a re-boot then disappears again shortly after that? Thanks,
    Wally

  • PCI Express X-fi Xtreme Audio - missing functions - Windows 7 64-bit

Trying to restore functionality to this card in Windows 7 64-bit. After i installed the card and the latest beta drivers from Creative, there seems to be no Gamer Mode option and in games such as Battlefield 242 and Bioshock i cannot select EAX options. All i can use is Entertainment mode. Also the Crystalizer doesn't make things clearer - all it does is make my songs go quiet/loud/quiet/loud/quiet/loud.
    Any ideas folks?

  • How to get WHAT U HEAR option for PCI Express X-Fi Titanium sound card and Windows 7

how to get WHAT U HEAR option for PCI Express X-Fi Titanium sound card and Windows 7 ? Is it on the basic driver? or do you have to install some other software?
    jane

You have to install the rest of the software(s) for the sound card. The software is (if it is with the installation CD, though) called "Creative Smart Recorder" or something like that.

  • SB Xtreme Audio Notebook optical out problem with Home TheaterSystem-HELP!

JSB Xtreme Audio Notebook optical out problem with Home TheaterSystem-HELP!, I have this sound card connected?(optical OUT) ?to my home?theater system's digital IN ?through the recommended /8in. optical miniplug-to-optical SPDIF cable. Theater system is set correctly to Digital-In mode. I have no sound!
The cable is a Velocity Toslink-to-Optical Mini Plug digital cable. I don't see any settings in the Creative Console Launcher. The notebook is a Dell XPS M730 (Vista 32).
I have a PS3, DirecTV, and the SB Xtreme Audio Notebook cable on a hub switch that connects to the system's?one Optical IN. The PS3 and DirecTV sound perfect!
The sound card works fine with standard PC speakers. I'm at a loss as?to what to try next. I set this whole system up myself, so I'm pretty good at working out the kinks, except this one!
    Karen

OK. I just went to Control Panel - Sound - Playback - Digital Output Device (SB Xtreme Audio Notebook) - Properties - Advanced. I experimented with different sample rates and bit depths. Clicked the test button and lo and behold - sound from the HTS! I've tried iTunes, PowerDVD (configured to digital output) and YouTube - no sound! Am I missing something really obvious?
HA! Just backed out to Playback and selected Digital Output Device (SPDIF) and set as Default. Sound is emunating from HTS! Well, that mystery is solved! Who knew.
Thanks anyway! Any comments or advice will still be appreciated.

  • Sound Blaster PCI Express - No option for AUDIO CREATION mode.

I need help. ?I purchased another computer from Dell, with a Sound Blaster board just as I have done with three other computers. ?This makes four.
I ordered it with the Sound Blaster board because of the THREE MODES, Entertainment Mode, Gaming Mode, and Audio Creation Mode. ?The Audio Creation mode is really what I want because it allows to add reverb.
So when I get this latest Dell with the Sound Blaster card it is a
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express
The Volume control does not show the three modes. GAMING, ENTERTAINMENT, and AUDIO Creation. ?It only shows the ENTERTAINMENT mode.
So I thought perhaps those were enhancements that had to be installed from the Creative Sound Blaster CD that Dell provides. ?I put the CD in the dri've, and it goes into install mode and then when you start the install it says do you want to add additional software to which I answer YES.
Then it says install your CD in the CD dri've, which of course it is already in there. ?The CD looks funky. ?No scratches, it is new, but it has an uncharacteristic distortion on the data side so it is probably bad.
I download the drivers off the Creative site and it says, you have a newer version already installed on your computer.
I have called Dell 5 times over the course of 2.5 hours being disconnected all 5 times after speaking to people with extremely thick accents that know as much about computers as I know about brain surgery.
    BOTTOM LINE
1.Does the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express have the ability to support the three modes: ?Entertainment, Gaming, and AUDIO CREATION.
If so, how do I get it to workHow do I get a new CD
    2. If this card does not support the three modes, what card doesThe Sound Blaster cards in my other three Dells all support these three modes.
    Thanks!
    Doc from Las Vegas

No the Xtreme Audio doesn't not support the three modes, it only has Entertainment mode. Any X-Fi card that is not a Xtreme Audio does support the three modes.

  • Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio: Mic Interfere

I have an ASUS P5B-Deluxe WiFi AP motherboard which I had a few problems with to begin with and had to RMA two different boards back to eBuyer (bad memory controller & broken battery holder)
The problem is when I speak over the microphone to friends they report a train sound coming from my end. When I try recording using the built in XP sound recorder I can replicate the train sound. It sounds like bad interference/crackling. This is random though because when I stop the recording and start it again it can be fine until I restart it again. I have tried on many occasions uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and even installing older drivers. I have even tried every possible configuration within SoundMAX the tool where you configure the on board sound. I have tried various microphones including a superbeam microphone provided with the motherboard and a Logitech headset with a microphone. I have tried disabling microphone boost and muting every other sound channel expect for my left and right speaker.
I became fed up so I decided to buy a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card thinking that would be the end of my mic problems (Yes i did uninstall everything related to the on board audio from ASUS and disabled on board audio in BIOS). Last week I ditched my on board audio for a Creative X-Fi sound card from Scan.co.uk. It worked instantly out the box, I installed the drivers that were provided on the CD that came with the sound card. The auto updater then update the drivers to the latest. However up until today the problem has started with the Creative card. It started with a friend saying he could hear train like sounds coming from my mic in game and I decided to check it out with Windows sound recorded and in fact the problem has resurfaced. I can record fine up until I stop and start again. Occasionally when I restart recording the interference/high pitched noise starts, I can tell by the graphic line moving up and down without me making any sound.
For peoples viewing pleasure I saved a raw sound recording from Windows Sound Recorder tool http://rapidshare.com/files/6566423/interference.wav
I am starting to think this problem may be related to my case fans. I have them on the medium setting, 3x20mm fans and a 200mm fan on the top of my case.
    Here are my system specs:
    Motherboard: ASUS P5B-Deluxe WiFi
    Processor: Intel E6600
    Memory: 2xGB Corsair PC-6400 at 5-5-5-2
    Power Supply: Corsair 520W
    Case: Antec 900
    Help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Bump.
I am having this issue as well.
Got an eVGA nForce 680i MoBo, never had other problems with it.
This is the second problem I have with my Xtreme Audio, and should nobody have a response, I will be sending it back where it came from.
I am sick of the terrible support Creative offers. :-(

  • Audio input and internal problems

    Hey
Before you tell me to check my sound system preferences and change that i already have and yes its all they way over to the right and its been over to the left and everywhere but my mic is terible, i can shout away and it about picks me up, only when i tap the wee hole where it lives does it pick up well.
I aint sure whats wrong there? Any ideas?
Also i aint sure if my Audio input is working as i bought myself a small mic and it dosent work it says the sound card needs to have a stereo condenser microphone output...whatever that means...
Any help would be much apreciated
    Guy Phenix

    Hi,
A stereo condenser mic output is one that powers the microphone you are using. It sends some electricity up the wire to the microphone to power a small amplifier inside of the microphone. Your microphone will not work without this small amout of electricity (called phantom power).

  • K430 Front Audio (Mic and headphones)

    Hi there!
I got a k430, and I just bought an audio card because when I plug my headphones into the front panel, the sound is horrible. So I installed my Creative Sound blaster Z, and when I tried to plug the front audio cable to it, I realized it was not the same connector!! The lenovo one got more pins! How can I do to plug my front audio cable to my new audio card?
    Thank you for your help!!

I think I know what is the problem... site shows sound driver for XP and Vista 64bit but I installed Vista 32bit and am looking for Vista 32bit drivers . Why are there complete drivers for Vista 32bit (Equium A300D), except sound? :(
Thanks, I will try these for Satellite...
None of Satellite models has drivers for Vista 32bit... one has but Realtek :(
Maybe I should install Vista 64bit ? I dont remember if previous was 64b :|
