PCI-MXI-2 Using old drivers on new OS

I have a PCI-MXI-2 card that is currently in a Windows Xp computer.
The windows xp computer is using the driver  NI VXI 2.1.1 (Windows 9x/NT/2000).
This current setup works. I would now like to move to Windows 7.
The card is connected by VXI to a VME-MXI-2 card, which is configured with three measurement cards from an outside company.
Because of the hardware that I am using, I believe I must keep the orriginal driver in order for it to work. I have not been successful with newer NI drivers.
Does anyone have advice on using older NI drivers on newer operating systems?
I have not been having much luck with this approach so far.

Update:
- I removed all the national instruments software
- I installed the old drivers on Windows 7 in compatibility mode (ni vxi 2.1.1, VISA shared components 1.6, IVI shared components 2.2.1)
- I made sure that all software was the same version as on the old machine
- I then configured the boards with T&M manager
Success. Everything now works.  This is a very valid approach for those using old hardware that can't handle the new drivers.

  • Use old HD with new P965 Platinum MB. Possible?

If I wanted to use my present HD with my new P965 Plat board, I have to boot with the OS CD and do a "repair" or a "install", or is this even possible?  Has anyone tried/done it?  Thanks.

Your "old HD" is P-ATA (IDE), right?
Theoretically it should not be a problem, if there is still room for a second drive on the JMicron IDE-port.
However, you should install a fresh XP SP2 onto that drive using JMicron Drivers (F6).  Just "reparing" the existing installation might not work properly.

  • Using old site in new iWeb '08

I have a site set up using .Mac but when I open iWeb it says 'iWeb needs a Domain file to continue. Choose an existing file or create a new one.'
If I click 'Choose one' then I browse around and can't find any file to choose. If I create a new one it creates an entirely new page and I can't open my old one.
Anyone know how to get around this?

The "Domain" file is located here.
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
What that means is in the finder, choose Go -> Home from the menu, then open the Library, then the Application Support, then the iWeb folder. There's where you will find your Domain file. In the file chooser, click your username on the left (in the column view) and go through the same set of folders.
However, as others have said, I'd back this file up before attempting ANYTHING with iWeb '08.

  • Using old drivers safe?

I currently got a new iMac with Mavericks installed, and I want to use my old Wacom tablet. I downloaded the latest driver (circa 2007) and when I tried to install it, I got the message:
"Install Wacom Tablet.pkg" can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer".
If I bypass this, is it safe to install?

    Yes.

  • I have the email confirming iphone is unlatched but need to unlock through itunes.  To do this, do I use old sim or new sim? I have backed up and restored but there is no message from itunes saying the phone is unlocked?  Please help

I am having problems unlocking my iphone 5. I have received an email from my old provider confirming that the phone is being unlatched and I need to complete the process through itunes.  I have backed up and restored but I have not received a message from itunes stating the phone is unlocked.  Do I use the old or new sim card while connecting to itunes or does it not matter.  I dont know what else to do to finish the unlock?

You can use either, but if you restored to the backup, then you will not see the message. You need to restore the device as new first, then restore the backup. Make sure you can continue with the unlock first. Many of the emails report, "Your unlock has been approved, restore your device in iTunes in 24 hours", or something like that. If it is ready to go, then as I said earlier, restore as new first, and then you should see the confirmation.

  • Mail using old instead of new X.509 certificate, two certs causes problems

I have two X.509 Thawte certificates on my key chain. One expires in 2008, the other expires later in 2007. The 2008 certificate has an additional email address embedded over the 3 in the 2007 certificate.
When I send signed email the old certificate is getting sent instead of the new. If I look at my email entries in ADDRESS BOOK, the old certificate shows except the new email address that is unique to the 2008 certificate.
I exported the 2007 certificate, deleted the 2007 certificate and closed and opened KeyChain Utility and now the 2008, which is the expected certificate shows for all email addresses. Problem is that I can't read any old email that was encrypted with the 2007 certificate unless I import the old certificate.
Anyone know how to have both certificates on your key chain and have OS X default to the latest certificate for sending email, but use the correct certificate for reading all email when mail has been encrypted with one of several certificates over time?
Importing and exporting, deleting certificates as you update certificate is a real pain.

I'm having a similar problem. Also have thawte certificates. I renewed the one about to expire which seems to have worked. I deleted the old one; wrong move, as I now could not read the email that used the old one. I fetched the old certificate, which appears in Certificates, but the email still seems to not be decryptable. There seems to be no way to get it into the My Certificates place. I have used these for several years with no problems until now.
If anybody has a clue on how to read the old email, I would love to hear it.

  • Using old quickdock w/new laptop?

I have an older QuickDock (the silver one - p/n: ES631AA#ABA
I used it with my DV6000 using a 90W power adapter that came with the laptop.
I now have a DV4 that I purchased at Best Buy.  It came with a 65W power adapter that does NOT plug into the old dock.
Looking at the spec sheets for the power adapters, it shows the DV4 series use 90W adapters.
If this is true, can I use my old adapter and my old dock to operate my new DV4 laptop?
That would be great, because I could keep the extra adapter in my case for taking the laptop on the road.
    Thanks in advance!

If the whole iTunes library is on the external drive, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down, click on Choose Library, and point it there. If not, launch iTunes normally and drag the library into the open iTunes window; you may want to consolidate it from the Library section of the File menu afterwards. The second option creates a new library.

  • How to use old TC with new TC for storage only?

Bought a 2TB TC and I still have my older 1 TB. Is their any way to use the older time capsule as a hard drive only and have that TC backed up along with my iMac on the new TC?

Basically the answer to this is NO!!
You can set it up but not the way you are thinking.
The TC is now and forevermore a network drive. You can therefore bridge the TC and plug it into your network. The obvious place being your new TC. You can also turn off the wireless in the old TC.. it is now a network accessible hard disk.
But Time Machine has a huge limitation.. it cannot backup network drives. So your TC cannot be backed up with your  iMac to the new TC. Not by Time Machine. You can buy a different backup software.. eg CCC is excellent and use that.
Overall the TC is slower and less reliable than a USB drive plugged straight into your iMac.. especially if the iMac is newer type with USB3 ports.
And the USB drive is local and so it can be backed up by Time Machine. (Must have HFS+ format and be included in the backup).

  • Using "old themes" on new computer

I purchased an iMac core duo and moved the prefs & progs via Apples firewire transfer program. I tried to open an old iDVD project and got an "old theme missing" error message.
I found the old themes in my G4 iMac and copied the to a portable firewire harddrive. I opened the same folder on the iMac core duo and found themes for iDVD's 3, 4 & 5, but the others were missing. I copied the files exactally as they were on my iMac G4, left the window open and opened the iDVD project. Not only did I get the same "old theme not found" error message but I watched as the iMac erased the old themes I had just copied!
By the way, the "old themes" work fine on my iMac G4 with iDVD 6.
Am I doing something wrong? How can I use these old themes on my new iMac?
    Thanks.

    Good to hear it worked!
I've heard less than stellar reports about that migration tool. I've used Superduper with great success, thanks to a heads-up by John Beatty1.

  • How to use old library with new computer?

    Hello,
I keep all my music on an external HD. Recently, my main computer died, so I had to start using another iMac. It's running Tiger and iTunes 6, but I have never used the iTunes before. How do I get this computer to "see" my old iTunes library (on the external)?

You are welcome. One thing that comes to mind is that I believe when you use an external drive to hold your library, it is important that the external is on and mounted when ever you start up iTunes. My understanding is if you start iTunes and the external drive is not available, then iTunes reverts back to the default location on your internal. You then have to reset it back to the external, but I think you also have to re-add everything all over again.
So be sure you always have the external up and ready whenever you open iTunes.

  • I tried to sync my iPhone with iTunes, was asked if i wanted to use old phone or new.  I pressed old and lost  recent photos and apps.  what can i do to undo this mess

An update was requested in my iphone settings to sync my iphone with itunes.  In my attempt to do this, I chose to sync with my old phone and lost all recent photos and apps.  Is there any way to reverse this mess and retrieve what I had?

So, what i need to is
    1. Check my iphone backup first if avaiable
    2. Do ' restore ' my iphone at itunes
    Is it correct?
After i do all of this, what is the next step? Is it
    1. Just plug in back my iphone and itunes will automatically sync asking to use a backup ipnone?
    Or need to do manually?
Make me confuse is, if i do all the step as previous mention, but pc still recognize my iphone as a ipod everytime i plug in into itunes.
How if i in pc dont have my iphone backup ? Because since first time plug in into itunes, i was used the ipod backup?
Sorry to ask too much since i really need help from your guys

  • Using old drive in new MP8core

    Hello,
I just bought the new MP 8core and was wondering if I could take out the hardrive in my current PowerMac G5 SP 1.8 and place it in the new MP 8 Core. Then I could just import the settings from that drive to the new drive?
I only have one monitor, so the Mac assistant transfer of files doesnt seem to practical. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks
    Chad

I honestly can't remember now, I've only used it on my PBG4's, where firewire was infinitely easier and there was no issue with two screens.
The knowledgebase for Leopard says FireWire:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/9032.html
But the knowledgebase article for Panther and Tiger says Tiger can do it from a different partition in the same Mac:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25773#faq14
So I reckon it's probably going to be OK.

  • How do i get ipod to use old library on new hd?

I replaced the hd in my daughters computer. I had her itunes music backed up. I restored it back to its original location (which was d:\itunes). I'm using winows XP. When I installed the ipod software and itunes, it scanned the drive, didn't find her itunes directory, deleted everything on her ipod, said that her ipod was now connected to a new library, and left her with all the weird struff it could fine.
How do I sether ipod back like it was, including her purchased songs? Should i re-install?
    thanks
    shuttle XPC   Windows XP Pro

Did you put the entire iTunes folder on a second drive? To operate with two drives, the iTunes folder and library files have to be on the primary drive while the iTunes Music folder can sit on the second drive. You then point iTunes to the new location of the Music folder in Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General. You can read about how this operate here: Moving your iTunes Music Folder

  • Do I need to remove old drivers before installing new ones (Windows XP)

I have an  Acer Aspire 3690 laptop with Windows XP home edition installed. I've reinstalled the OS by using recovery tool, updated it again. I want to finish setting my laptop up by updating some drivers, mainly chipset and GPU. I've already found that newer ones are availabe. But do I need remove the old drivers first to avoid any problems in the future? Or do I just run the setup executable of every driver?

Run the setup and check if the new one are installed; if not remove the old drivers and install the new.
