Also please tell which exactly sata controller you bought (jmicron) but what model?
Add to the above: which exactly drives do you have? Do they work fine if you use onboard SATA ports?

  • Z60m card reader not detecting cards

    Hi,
I had my z60m formatted recently and since then the card reader does not detect cards. On searching online I found a ricoh card reader driver which claims to work for the z60m which I have now installed. Still no luck. The green light next to the card reader blinks when I put a card in which could mean the hardware works.
    Hope someone can help me.
    Thanks

  • Expansion Slot Utility not detecting DeckLink HD Extreme Card

I just installed a DeckLink HD Extreme card in my Mac Pro today including all of the software and drivers. When I went into the Expansion Slot Utility it showed up but said the card was running below the maximum supported speed. So I picked a configuration that would work best for the cards that are in the machine. After restarting and opening the Expansion Slot Utility the card was no longer being detected. I even tried going back to the old configuration uninstalling and reinstalling the software and still it was not detected. Any help would be much appreciated.

Leopard and 2008 don't need or support the utility. The slots are fixed to begin with. Only the 1st gen Mac Pro needed it.

  • If my motherboard has no PCI slot for a graphics card, can I add a slot to it?

I was traded under warrenty a Compaq Presario with a H-Apricot-RS780L-uATX (Apricot) motherboard.  It has onboard ATI Radeon HD 3000 graphics and no PCI slot to upgrade.  Can I add a slot to it or am I stuck with it?

  • Which pcie slot for 8 lane card?

    Hi,
my Caldigit card (for HDPro) is 8 lane.
    Where do I put it? Slot 2 (pcie 2.0 - X16 lane) or slot 3 (pcie - X4 lane) ???
    always appreciate your support

If it really needs 8 lane bandwidth, put it in slot 2. It should work in a 4 lane slot, though, since that is 1G Bytes per second each way, which is far more than any video requires. See the first paragraph after Figure 1 and the table just after Figure 2 of:

  • Do pci slot coolers for video cards help alot?

simple, read the title, I want a better oc without ruining the warranty

I am using the Vantec PCI 2 fans thinggy that blows air to the video card from below and from changing slow to max fan speed my 9800XT shows a 3 or 4º C improvement.
I also installed a fan on top pulling air out and it also lowered the radeon's temperature at least 2º C more.
Was I able to overclock more? Probably, but just a little probably... what it really did was mantain the pc case cooler, as these new video cards are hotter than hell. My case temperature when overclocked was reduced almost 5º C because of this.

  • K8N Neo Platnium not detecting PCI cards

This is my second K8N Neo 2 Platnium board.  Both of them have failed to detect the cards in the PCI slots.  I know for sure that both of the cards work in my old system since i had to switch back to my old parts when i was getting my first board RMAed. The two cards are:
Creative Audigy 2 ZS sound card
    Promise 100TX ATA controller card
I've disabled the onboard audio in BIOS, but that wouldn't matter since its not detecting either card.  I've done the "search for new hardware" wizard in Windows XP Pro w/ SP2 and all updates as of Sept 26, 2005.  I've tested it both inside and outside of the case so it isn't shorting.
    I am P*ssed off.
Frankly, this is unacceptable.  Not only that, but upon inspecting the second board right out of the package, I saw that it has been ran before.  Long enough for dust to collect on some caps and on the SATA slots around the nForce chipset.  Also, there were little rings around the mounting holes from where screws have obviously been screwed in before.
Not to mention i had to call them to send my RMA out.  Website said it was ready to be shipped on 9-14-2005, I called on 9-20-2005, and it finally shipped out the following day.
I am not happy with my MSI purchase.  This coming after hearing so much good about this company.  Unless this problem is resloved I doubt I'll ever buy another one of their products again.

I had a similar problem with a 945p neo platinum board.  Anything I plug into any PCI slot didn't detect.  I solved the problem by flashing to the latest BIOS for the board.  Now everything seems to be working fine.
Maybe that might work for you?

  • 3x GPU Cards on 990FXA-GD80. Third card not detected in OS.

I have three Sapphire Radeon 7950 plugged into each 16x PCIe slot. The third card is not detected by the OS in any way. The two other cards are detected just fine.
What can I do? All items are brand new. I have not used the CrossFireX cable, since I won't be using the cards together, but for individual folding.
    Thanks for any help

ok so one of 4 things is happening here!
1: you could have a power issue on the board and the 3rd slot is not getting enougth power through the PCI_E slot to use the card (suggestion you remove the Middle Card and see if the 3rd slot comes Online?)
2: your PSU could be too weak to power the card (what PSU do you have? as i would suggest that you need a single +12v rail with 60A and a 750W minimum Rating overall)
3: possible defective Card (have you tried it in one of the other slots to see if its visible there?)
4: your CPU has a issue and is limiting the lanes as AMD GPU's like at least 8 Lanes Available (slim possibility but it should have enougth lanes to use all 3 cards)
i would suggest you run the 3 checks i have suggested in the () above and see what happens! also try to make sure the 3rd card is seated properly as it may look right but may not be connecting to the PCI_E slot Correctly!

  • Z77A-GD55 How to enable PCI slots

Insert the video card in a PCI slot does not see. Does not even appear in the device manager. I'm sure my video card works. How can I fix it?
    Main Board: Z77A-GD55
    Bios Version:
    Video Card: GigaByte HD5970
PSU:   Xigmatec 700W +80 Centauro series
12v rail Rating of listed PSU:
    CPU: i5 3570k
    Memory: 2x4gb
    SSD/ HDD: 1tb wd black
    CPU COOLER: stock fan
    Raid Card:
    Sound Card:
Any Additional hardware plugged into your system:
    OC:  No
Operating System: Windows 8 Pro 64 bit

I would suggest removing the CPU and inspecting the mainboard's socket with a bright light and magnifying glass. I am betting you will find some bent cpu pins.
If both card you tested in this board are 7xxx AMD cards, you might want to try flashing the bios first.

  • NVidia 6800GT & PCI Slots - Keeping Things Cool & Copacetic

    Hi Gang
    Fully aware of heating issues, especially with Pre-Dual Core G5's and poorly cooled ATI Video Cards, I'm trying the following arrangment with my G5 2.0 Dual Core;
Need to take advantage of all PCI slots, but using NVidia 6800 GT, (with decent cooling), I put a FirmTek eSATA card in the middle 8X PCI slot, and Sonnet FW800 Cards above and below the FirmTek eSata card.
Took temperature reading of nVidia at start-up; 118 Degrees Fahrenheit. After about an hour, it went up to 129 Degrees Fahrenheit. Warm but not Hot to the touch. I'm optimistic ...
Why no 'internal' SATA Card approach? Because I don't like the drive rack arrangment which clearly obstructs the cooling fans. Got some great advice here from BD, and japamac. I think this was the way to go

    Hi-
Sounds like you are happy with your results?
Temps aren't bad at all, and now you have tons of external connections!
BTW, Nvidia used a Coolermaster heatsink/fan for the graphics card.
Nice to have a cooling specialist on the job.

  • Pcie slots on mobo

i have broken the retaing clip (springy little plastic clip at end of pci slot)  that keeps graffics card secure in pci 1 would it be ok to put graffics card in slot 2 or would there be conflicts.  any helps is welcome

I had a MSI MB with a broken clip like that and never had a problem with it. As long as you aren't moving the case around where it could possibly cause the card to move in the slot you should not need to worry about it. Just check it eo ensure it's fully seated whenever you do your normal dust cleaning.

  • [VIA Series] PT880 Neo - 2 dead PCI slots?

Scanning through the forums, I didn't see anything relevant so here goes.
I bought my board not too long ago and have been slowly adding peripherals to my system.  I try to spread things out when choosing a PCI slot for a new card.  Well, looking at my sig, I have discovered that two of my PCI slots are dead.
When I say dead, I mean that I'll install a card there (previously never installed), boot up to Windows, and wait for the Found New Hardware dialog.  I think that this is slightly broken, so I go to the Device Manager and none of my new items show up with uninstalled or installed drivers.  I crack my case, move the card to one of the working slots, and everything is dandy.
For the record, I refer to PCI 1 as the closest PCI slot to the AGP slot (most central physically on the motherboard).  Inheritently, PCI 5 is the slot closest to the corner of the motherboard.  I am having problems with slots 2 and 3.
I am hoping that there is a dip switch or a rule similar to memory slot usage that will fix this problem.  I have not found a solution yet and am hoping that someone here can help.
    Thanks.

Update the BIOS, clear the CMOS, if ur problem is not solved, RMA the mainboard.

  • K8N Diamond Plus. Which PCI slot for Adaptec 39320

    Hi
I understand the Orange slot is not sharing resources with the other PCI slots.
Would this be best for my RAID card (its a 64bit RAID card going into a 32bit slot) or would it not work at all?
    thanks
    Charker

    Charker,
You will have to contact MSI Tech Support on that one, that question has crossed my mind to whether that is a full function PCI slot or not.  It is the only open PCI slot if you have a Graphics Card in the Secondary x16 slot.  If it is full function PCI slot, the only thing I know of that stop you using your 64-bit Controller in it are two Caps that may get in the way of the card over hang.
    Burmo,
You should know your subject before you make comments like that on the Forum.  Most all PCI 64-bit I/O cards will auto sense the slot type they are plugged into and adjust the interface to fit the slot capabilities.  Only problems using a 64-bit PCI card in a 32-bit PCI slot is you loss interface bandwidth and there maybe physical components mounted behind the 32-bit slot that will not allow the PCI 64-bit card to be inserted.
Luckily I have communicated with Charker enough, that I do not think you statement would have steed him wrong, but someone with a low level of computer knowledge, you could have cost him/her a lot of money.  Those Controller cards he is talking about cost two or three times what the Diamond Plus motherboard costs.  Next time research you answers before you make it, if you not sure and if you do not know do not comment.
    Roger
When submitting a problem, include a complete list of your system components; include part numbers, all Power Supply Voltages, and their output ratings.  It is almost impossible to estimate what your problem is without knowing something about it.
