Pci wifi card do they work??

Im not fussed about using the airpost utilty, as long as it connects to the internet, but TBH i would rather something internal and well built unlike those terrible dongles, i recently installed a USB Pci card that has a internal USB port and my Usb dongle doesnt work on the internal one for some reason, so i would rather have an Pci instead, as to save internal slot for other uses

Hardware Overview:
Model Name: Power Mac G5
Model Identifier: PowerMac7,3
Processor Name: PowerPC G5 (2.2)
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 2
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 1 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.1.8f7
and ive found some on ebay that say they are mac compatible :S?? :

i suppose i could try it, and if it does not work, i could use it with my PC which is in need of a wifi card, but are there any recommended cards?

  • [SOLVED] kernel crash with PCI wifi card

    HI,
I id install and start to use arch just two weeks ago :-)
I was able to solve problems until now.
I am not sure if this is problem of arch kernel, maybe it will be general.
I did insert PCI wifi card to my PC with arch. Card is Z-COM XI-626 : LAST LINE:

okay, I did blacklist hostap_pci, I did find out that with orinoco_pci module it is more stable
    BUT
sometimes it hang up with same error message

  • External antenna on mini PCI WiFi card

    Hello,
The stock mini PCI WiFi card on the MEGA 865 has terrible range.  I can not connect to an access point beyond 20 feet.  Can an external antenna be added to the card?  Does someone sell a mini PCI WiFi with external antenna?  The new MEGA 865 PRO has an external antenna!!!!!  Where can I buy this 865 PRO WiFi card and antenna?  My PCI slot is filled and USB keys seem to have about the same range.
In another computer I have a D Link PCI card 802.11 a/b/g with external antenna with excellent signal at 100 feet.
    Thanks for your help!

    ahh ha! success...
I got new Intel drivers for my wireless Mini-PCI card from the Intel site itself.
It now is very stable...transferred more than 5gig at once without dropouts
Only problem is that the speed is sacrificed a bit...i was getting slightly higher transfer rates with the original drivers(which came with the card).. now im getting max 2MByte/s(16Mbits/s) with these new drivers....also Windows can see the wireless network connection as "Status:Excellent"..so im pleased with the stability
Can any1 explain how(even when 2 wireless-G devices are sitting next to each other) they can never reach 54MBit/s ??? So then 108MB/s must be an absolute load of crap ..and not even reach 54MBit/s properly
I should be getting around 54MBit/s ..after all why say its 54MBit/s when its not ....grrrr

  • Fitting a mini pci wifi card to a T21 HELP PLEASE! :D

    hello you lovely people
I currently have USB2.0 functionality and wifi on my T21 courtesy of a dongle and power from the 5v mouse socket
what i want to do is put a mini pci wifi card inside my T21 so i dont have a dongle sticking out like a sore thumb
    1. is this possible or is it only the T23 you can do this too?
    2. can anyone show me the specific card and aerial i would need
i cant find any help on the net for the T21 in particular
hoping someone here might shed some light on this
thanks for any help or pointers you can give
    D
    T42 - T21 - Tecra 8200 all xp

Your best bet would be to find a complete lid with integrated wireless from a T23, and add an internal card, Broadcom 4306 or 4309 (b/g and a/b/g respectively) have been proven to work well in these machines.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,

  • Can I add a mini pci WiFi card in my Sat Pro L10?

My L10 has no internal wifi card installed but the motherboard has a socket for it. The wifi switch on the front is blanked off and the keyboard hot key is not configured.
If a card was added could the hot key be configured to be an on/off

    Hi
As far as I know you can upgrade the unit with the wifi mini PCI card. The Fn keys should also works and should enable the antenna with the key combination FN+F8.
I also found the hotkey utility and a wireless driver for this unit on the Toshiba page.

  • S750 GIGAWORKS AND ASUS MOTHERERBOARD REALTEK SOUND CARD will they work together

S750 GIGAWORKS AND ASUS MOTHERERBOARD REALTEK SOUND CARD
My system currently used a built in sound card on the main board asus hd audio
I am wondering if these speakers will work fully with the built in sound card or will I need to purchase another sound blaster card?
the mobo is a but I have noticed the jack plugs on the s750 have

should work fine mate, i have asus p5n-e sli board, and i have the realtek hd audio onboard, one thing i can tell you though, CREATIVE audigy 2 and x-fi cards have a serious problem with nforce 4 and 650i chipsets, not sure about 680i but i wouldnt risk my money, they just dont seem to draw enough power from the pci bus if you have a decent graphic card installed, you end up with very loud crackling and pops which sound scary as if its gonna blow your pc up, theres a lot of complaints on the net about this and i had to pull my audigy 2 zs out my machine and go back to onboard realtek because of this problem, blame driver support, creative just cant get their act together

  • PCI USB Card Does NOT Work With Mass Storage Devices

I have a StarTech PCI card with 6 USB 2.0 ports that I inserted in my 500 MHz (overclocked) B&W Power Mac G3. It works great for any USB device EXCEPT for any hard drive or DVD/CD-RW drive. I checked the system.log file for errors. Nothing shows up in System Profiler or Disk Utility, obviously. Here's what it consistently says:
Dec 16 23:33:28 Geoff-Myers-Power-Mac-G3 kernel[0]: USBF: 674.997 [0xf9c000] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 6 of hub @ location: 0x62000000)
    Dec 16 23:33:33 Geoff-Myers-Power-Mac-G3 kernel[0]: USBF: 679.977 [0xf9c000] The IOUSBFamily was not able to enumerate a device.
I'm running the latest version of Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.3. What is wrong? StarTech doesn't have a driver, but nothing should be necessary. Is there a 3rd party USB Mass Storage Device driver that might work better than the Apple generic driver? PLEASE HELP ME! I cannot live with USB 1.1.

Some users have reported problems with certain brand cards and their controller chipsets, so trying a different card may resolve the problem. Keyspan and Macally are often mentioned as being more "Mac-friendly" than some other lessser-known brands or generic cards. Does the card have a mini-power port to supplement the power requirements? With USB 2.0, each port is on a separate bus, so a card with six ports should have one. To minimize the overall draw on the available power, I prefer to install USB cards with as few ports as are needed.

  • PCI wireless card does not work after restart - FM2-A55M-E33

Installed TP-LINK WN751ND wireless PCI card onto FM2-A55M-E33 motherboard. The card works fine after cold start, but does not work after restart. Windows recognises the card, but it gets code 10, cannot start.
BIOS is updated (v.11.1), as well as drivers and Windows 7 64.
I suspect that this might be the issue: Incorrect ASPM Transitions on the GPP Interface as found in ChipsetMotherboard_TechDocs/48671.pdf on AMD's official support site.
Does anyone know more about this issue?

Great! I've done that and now my card shows up. Thing is, when I try to get an IP address, it won't work. Here is the command output:
ieee80211 phy0: wl_ops_config: change monitor mode: false (implement)
    ieee80211 phy0: wl_ops_config: change power-save mode: false (implement)
    ieee80211 phy0: wl_ops_bss_info_changed: qos enabled: false (implement)
And then it times out and no IP is assigned. The thing is, wpa_supplicant stays alive after this time out, and I am unable to kill it (killall -9 wpa_supplicant won't kill it). At this point if I try to reboot the machine, it will stop at 'Rebooting' and won't go anywhere. If I turn off the wireless card in its switch Linux crashes. If I try to get an ip again (by running dhcpcd) the command will hang and not return to the shell anymore.
I am unable to find any useful information in the logs.
    Got any more suggestions?
Thanks! (And sorry to disturb so much)

  • How can I turn on the mini-PCI WiFi card on Satellite 1905-S301?

greetz! I have installed an optional mini-PCI wireless LAN card into my Toshiba Satellite 1905-s301 notebook and turned on its power switch. MS WXP Pro SP2 recognized the hardware and installed its drivers - there is no cross or question mark next to the Atheros AR5001X+ Wireless Network Adapter in the Device Manager. However the Wireless Network Connection Manager is telling me there is no wireless adapter present. When hitting Fn+F8 a window pops up saying There is no build-in wireless LAN.
What do I need to do to enable my optional wireless LAN mini-PCI card??? If possible, email your suggestions to my email, please!

    Hi
You have to enable the WLan switch at the notebook side!!!
Additional select the WLan card properties and check the Advanced tab.
There should be an option called Radio on/off. You have to set it to on.
    greetings

  • Anyone have luck with wmp54g (rt2500 driver) pci wifi card?

I tried arch a few months ago but I was unable to connect to my wireless network. Has anyone had any luck yet? Just curious - I would like to use arch but I need wireless/WPA.
    thanks

I personally have no rt2500 pci, but i have got a rt2500 usb (rt2570).  have had next to _no_ success using the native rt2570 (rt2500 in you case) nor the new experimental rt2x00 from serialmonkey project.
I'm using it with ndiswrapper atm, and it's really working flawlessly.
    I'm not sure if this is also the case with the native rt2500 driver, but with ndiswrapper you need to be very verbose when connecting to the access point. This is my config;
    wlan0="dhcp"
wlan_wlan0="wlan0 essid studion channel 6 ap 00:13:46:42:65:22 key restricted s:XXXXXXXXXXXXX"
    INTERFACES=(lo wlan0)
Basicly, this is a dhcp setup, with a shared WEP key. I had to add the hardware-adress of the access-point (ap hardware-address), since it wouldn't connect otherwise.
To see the hardware-adress of the ap, just bring ra0 up, with "ifconfig ra0 up", and then "iwlist ra0".
If i were to connect with a static address i would replace wlan0="dhcp" with wlan0="wlan0 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255" or something like that. I would also  set gateway, and remove the "!". Last of all I would update /etc/resolv.conf with the address to my nameserver. (usually the router. this is automatic with dhcp)
A nice tip is to remember all those ra0 (or wlan0 in my case) statements all over the place. one mistake and network will not be brought up.

  • GIGAWORKS AND ASUS REALTEK SOUND CARD will they work together or what sound cards are compatable?

S750 GIGAWORKS AND ASUS MOTHERERBOARD REALTEK SOUND CARD
My system currently used a built in sound card on the main board asus hd audio
I am wondering if these speakers will work fully with the built in sound card or will I need to purchase another sound blaster card?

Is your built in Realtek 7.1 analog? If so, does it have 3 output jacks for 7.1 or 4.1 If 4, you'll need a cable with 4 1/8th inch plugs on each end, if it's got 3 the included cable will work fine. Either way it shouldn't be a problem, although some onboard sound may not sound as good as a dedicated higher-quality soundcard as high quality speakers tend to bring out both the best and worst in your other sound equipment.

  • K8N Neo2 Plat : how to switch the provided PCI Wifi card to access point mode ?

in digicell, I can't click on "access point mode"...
do some people have succeeded in turing the neo2 plat 54g into an access point ? If yes, how ?
    thks

I also have downloaded the latest driver from the manufacturer of that wifi special card (code 2500 something if I remember well)
have you found any way to configure it to access point mode, else than with DigiCell ?
I think I will reinstall DigiCell one more time and reinstall it, I'm almost sure the problem is in it ;-)
I already has problems seeing my Acrobat Suite and tells me I don't have the Reader, it already opens IE in stead of the default browser [but it's supposed to be that way, according toi MSI], and it didn't detect CoreCenter I ghad installed previously, until I reinstalled CoreCenter over itself ;-)
    What a nice tool :D

  • Satellite A110 - WiFi switch is not working with new WiFi card

    Hello Everyone
I have a problem with my Toshiba Notebook Satellite A110-178 (PSAB0E). I replaced the original WIFI card Intel 3945abg with Intel Link 5100 and on the new wifi card wifi hardware switch is not working.
New wifi card is discovered and drivers working correct but when I try to scan for wifi networks with IntelPro/Wireless software I have message to turn on hardware switch but it's turn on and not work. On old wifi card swich is working correct - orange light is on. On new card light is off and swich is not working.
    Please help

    Hi
    Maybe you could enable the Wlan card using different way;
Go to device manager -> WLan card properties -> Advanced tab
There you could check if there is a option which would enables the WLan.
    Its worth a try
Otherwise its a compatibility issue like suggested by PinkPanther
I read in different threads that this could happens if there is a different pin assignment on miniPCI WLan card and this could not match with the miniPCI slot on the mobo...

  • Wifi card with rt2500 chipset not detected

    Hi all,
I got a new pci wifi card with chipset rt2500, but I can't make it work. I installed without problems rt2500 driver from beta 3, and when I run ifconfig, the wifi card doesn't show up. If I run iwconfig, ra0 shows up but with no wireless extension. I tried to do iwconfig ra0 mode monitor or managed, and it says "Invalid argument". The card works with a live cd distro (rt2500 driver) and with windows so it's not an hardware problem, and when I do a lspci, card is appearing.
I tried the rt2500-cvs driver, but I have the same problem too.
So I think help is needed

Zanton - maybe this is wrong place to ask this question but please can you tell me how did you compile your own kernel. I'm newbie with Arch and using pci wifi card with chipset rt2500 (not just now ).
I've used Slacware over an year without problems and I think it's little bit tricky to compile Arch-linux kernel with ABS-way because it was so easy in Slack.
So did you compile with ABS http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cus … n_with_ABS or some other way?
I'm using latest rt2500-driver (nightly-cvs) and SMP as well PREEMPT is on!
