PCIE frequency locked on K9N2G Neo?

Board: K9N2G Neo (MCP78-S/nvidia 8200 chipset)
Bios: AMI v1.1
CPU: AMD X2 6000+
Hi!
I am just about to try a bit of overclocking. There is no option in my bios regarding locking PCIE frequency.
It could be locked automatically, I just want to make sure.
I tried several programs to read out the PCIE bus speed, like Everest, Sandra but they did not show it.

Yes, it should be locked by default.

  • Article says K8N Neo has SATA frequency locking problem

This article says that the K8N Neo has SATA frequency locking problems when overclocking:
    http://www.nforcershq.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1801
First of all, is this true?
And if it is true, do we have a BIOS that fixed this problem.
My drives are PATA right now so I currently don't have any problems but I plan to get SATA drives/adapters soon.
I'm running 240 HTT (1:1) so not having the SATA frequency locked could be an issue.

Well, I´m running HTT 230 now, and I´m always using my Raptor as OS disk. Haven´t had any problems yet (with my disk). It´s connected to s-ata_1. Haven´t tried the other ones.
But sometimes when I boot (200 or 230HTT, doesn´t matter) I get artifacts on the boot screen and in Windows, so I have to restart.
Could it be a partially working AGP-lock? It seems as at works most of the time, but sometimes not... Strange... AGP is set to 66-67MHz

  • PCI Frequency

    Hi,
    I have P45 Neo3-FR(PCB 1.0) Bios:1.9 Motherboard.
I wanna lock this PCI Frequency setting at 33MHZ, because I don't want to synchronize with FSB clock speed when I increase it. But this option only gives me the ''Auto, 37.5 and 42MHZ. So I think when I set this option to Auto it will lock this option to 33MHZ even if I change the FSB clock speed.
But I just wanna be make sure. So is my assumption correct?
P.S: English is not my native Language, so I'm sorry if my message look kinda silly.

    Yep.
Look here as well (the same thing it true for your board):

  • Agp/pci clock locking help please

i have the 865pe neo, using patriot memory with winbond 5ns chip, have no problem running at 250mhz in corecenter, however when i try to o/c in bios, when with the agp/pci clock locked, i can still it increasing up to 80mhz/xxxmhz as i increase the front bus speed of the cpu, anyone having the same problem with this board? will new bios fix this? by the way , i can't manually change the agp/pci clock , it's grayed out and "locked" this ths only option available under "apg/pci clock" there's no manual setting, soeone please help i can bring this board back to get the 875p if thats  needed
    thanks fo ryou help

    Hi tgn,
MSI have this feature locked to prevent us from o/c the CPU multipiler settings. Can't say that whether this is good or bad for o/clockers like us. Unlike Abit which unlocks everything, MSI keep settings to what the mobo detects the CPU model is, i.e, if you're running a P4 2.4, then your Multipiler settings will be 18x with 133 FSB x 4 to make 2400+- MHz, try calculating the mathematics way and you'll know how far you can o/c to.
Corecenter o/cing is another way MSI sets as it will directly show you the speed your CPU is running at vs the multipiler settings.
    All the Best... :D!!!

  • KT880 DELTA & PCI/AGP Lock ?

I read some article about KT880 DELTA and there was written, it has PCI/AGP lock .. is it right ? If yes, which setting in BIOS is it ?
    thx for any answer

I have heard this board will have that feature, but I cannot confirm it. If it does have the PCI/AGP lock, it would be the first VIA chipset to include this feature.
I would think it could be found in the "Frequency and Voltage" section of BIOS.

  • MSI K9N2G Neo-FD

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130182
I have been thinking about getting this motherboard to replace a fried ATX EPoX motherboard, however.. I notice on the MSI site itself that it suggests it's a Micro? On the other hand, Newegg just says ATX ... which is it exactly? Has anyone had any good experiences with this board? I'm pairing it with a Phenom

You might have looked up the K9N2GM-FD (Micro-ATX) at MSI website by misstake. The one at newegg is a variation of the K9N2G Neo (ATX) you see on the MSI Global website.

  • K9N2G Neo CPU Stepping question.

Hello, I have a K9N2G Neo and I am looking to upgrade to a AMD Phenom II X4 925 but I have a couple questions. Will stepping/revision of a CPU effect compatibility?
I see in the CPU Support that Phenom II X4 925 C2 is supported but would the same CPU but C3 stepping effect weather or not it worked with my motherboard?
    K9N2G Neo CPU Support list - http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=1493&maincat_no=1 (HDX925WFK4DGI) Stepping - C2)
    AMD Phenom II X4 925 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103656  (HDX925WFK4DGM) Stepping - C3)
Sorry if this is common knowledge I haven't been able to find information on it anywhere.
    Thanks for your time.

     Best to ask MSI. http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=html&name=aboutus
The latest in support list is C2 CPU supported by BIOS 1.2 and that dates back to Jan. 2009.
Even the list from this website which are usually fairly up to date doesn't show any C3's.
    http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/K9N2G_Neo_%28MS-7511%29.html
It probably is supported with latest BIOS but don't take my word for it.

  • MSI K9N2G-Neo and Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition - BIOS Options Problem

    Hello, i have this MSI K9N2G-Neo + Athlon X2 7850 BE (REVEEN RCCT 0901SP + Tuniq TX2) + 4 x 2048MB OCZ Platinum 1066MHz, 700 watt real power supply, etc...
The problem is the bios v1.2 and new v1.3 that appears Disabled the CPU Voltage option for this cpu, in gray color or default values and i can´t change it. Now the cpu is running well at 3.2 ghz OC (200x16) some stable but not at all, i think it is a weak OC for a Black Edition CPU. Before i was using the X2 7750 BE and was the same problem with the CPU Voltages Bios´s options too.
Why in the bios isn´t enabled the CPU Voltage option ?
And why this Athlon Kuma don´t appear in the CPU SUPPORT LIST ??
This mother says that support CPUs up to 140watts and AM3... is it sure or it is a lie ?
This bios v1.3 is a few days new, Now i have to wait another 5 moths for a new one ??
    Thanks a lot.

    Where you saw that?
Hi Svet... i did what u said me with numpad and nothing happended cause the cpu option is disabled. I think there is some kind of incompatibility between this mother and Kumas Core CPU... whit the 7750BE was the some issue too.
MSI official web page and 140Watts mothers support shows it.

  • OK What About The PCI Buss Lock at 33?

I read over at Anantech in the review of the k7n2-L that the PCI bus is not locked.
    From Anandtech:
We still haven't been able to get confirmation from MSI as to whether the K7N2-L locks the PCI bus at 33MHz. There is an AGP lock at 66MHz for this board (as with all nForce2 boards). We'll immediately update you with more information as we receive it from MSI. 12/04/02 UPDATE: MSI sends word that the K7N2-L indeed does not have a PCI bus lock at 33MHz, meaning you will overclock your PCI bus to a certain level at a certain overclocked FSB speed.
Now I have read here in a couple of threads that the PCI buss is lock at 33.
     So who is right???

its locked guy at amd forums the wise one measured his on a pc gieger 33.4 regardless of fsb

  • K9N2G Neo (MS-7511) Parallel port interrupt

    Hi All,
I'd like to use the onboard parallel port of the K9N2G Neo (MS-7511) for a custom designed instrument. This equipment generates parallel port interrupts thus I need to run this port in IRQ driven mode. On older mobo-s BIOS usually have an IO address + IRQ setting for onboard parport, now I can only find an IO address. Any idea?
    Thanks

  • SATA frequency locked?

What SATA ports are frequency locked on the K8N SLI Platinum? are all? just wondering since I will soon run with overclock and SATA drives.

All four nvidia chipset integrated is okay on NF4 as they don't use the bridge function from chipset as NF3 used to the external marvell PHY .
On NF4 all four use the NF4 chipsets PHY .
It's the marvell phy on NF3 that doesn't lock . It scales with HTT .
Ah, that explains why some boards do not have all Sata locked. Thank you for the info.

  • RAID problems with K9N2G Neo

I am having some issues with my new MB. K9N2G Neo with Nividia 8200 chipset. Trying to setup and use a RAID mirror. The setup of the RAID is good and the mirror is recognized, formats and accepts data. However I can't figure out how I would recover after a failure. I removed power from one sata drive to simulate a failed drive. The system warns me and the data is still available but when I plug in the "failed" drive I still get warnings and the Rebuld in the RAID bios does nothing. The Nvidia storage utility doesn't have a "rebuild" or "Synchronize" option like the manual says it should.  HELP!

Sure, as when you plug your drive again it sees it as fixed, no need to rebuild.
If you add an empty drive it should offer you the function.
I do no know about the utility, this is normal something you do in the BIOS unless you have a third drive already added as spare.
