PCIE gen 3 support

Hello, I purchased a 970a g46 motherboard, there is a sticker on the box that says "supports pciE gen 3, switch is on the board" Can someone tell me where this switch is? I can find nothing on the web site or in the manual.
Thank you

AMD CPU's do not need to support PCIe Gen3.
It's the chipset that has to do it, not the CPU.
Don't know who talked to you, but you got false information.
AMD is not Intel where PCIe is (partly) build into the CPU.
I'm sorry, but your board will never support PCIe Gen3.
However this is not an issue, as PCIe Gen1 can't even be filled to the max, certainly Gen2 not even close, and Gen3 won't be needed for the next 10 years at least.
In short, who cares about PCIe Gen3 for the upcomming 10 years, I don't. (unless something very special happens, but in that case it won't be the same motherboard/CPU/memory for sure)

  • Bios "pcie 3 support" setting is not working?

    Hi All,
When I dissable pcie 3 support in bios, it does not seem to turn it off.
I just got this mobo (z77 mpower) with a 3770k and I am having issues with my two Gigabyte 670 in sli (they seems to run fine not in sli). These same cards were fine in my other computer which is a Z68 mobo and 2600k.
I did some reading on a number of forums and there seems to be an issue with many of the Gigabyte 670 cards runing on pcie 3.0. A known fix is to turn off pcie 3.0 in the mobo bios and have them run in pcie 2.0. This sounds right since I was not having any issues on my z68/2600k pcie 2.0 setup. The crappy thing is if you have a mobo that does not have the option to turn of pcie 3 support in the bios... you are screwed and stuck with having ussues.
So my problem is... when is dissable PCIe 3.0 support in the z77 mpower bios and in win7, it still shows that my cards are running in pcie 3.0, I have checked in two places both nvidia ctrl panel and also in gpuz and I continue to have the problems with the cards. When I go back into the bios to double check afterwards, it still shows as off.
Has anyone dissabled the pcie 3 support in bios and can confirm that it does infact actually turns it off and makes the the slots pcie 2.0? Any help would be appreciated as I need to somehow make these cards run in pcie 2.0 and not 3.0
    Thanks,

What issues are you talking of?
Issues I am having are only happening is sli. I know its not a PCIe slot on the mobo, I ran a single card in each slot without issues. I also know that these two same cards ran in sli for the past 8 months without any issues on my Z68 board, this only started when I put them into the Z77.
Weird thing is, lets say I put card A in top slot and card B into the other slot.... I get random slowdowns , not only in games but also when browsing and even just looking at the desktop. The computer would freeze up (not freeze completely just everything would become bogged down for up to myb 10 seconds.. then gone for two or three then same freezing again again. Benchmarks like 3dmark11 results would be randowm, I ran 5 tests consecutively and they all ranged from 4000 - 14500 (14500 is what the system should be getting)
Now if I switch the cards and put card B into slot A and card A in the other, those same slowdowns and freezes now become complete system lockups... bsod and or video driver crashes (nvidia kerner stops respondong)
I know its not a driver, bio or software issues. I am having same symptoms under old and new bios on both mobo and vod cards. Also tryed many different versions of vod drivers. I have also dissabled on board sound, wifi and bluetooth to rule those out.

Not sure if this might be your issues...Would like to know some of your symptoms. But I have a post here on Ix boards. I was having a slight issue with my driver crashing, and not running great in SLI. Not a blue screen or anything like that. I really thought my video cards were defective. Come to find out. I had one stick of ram that was making all the issues happen. My symptoms.... Every-time I ran my cards in sli..it would cause a stop driver error in Nvidia control panel. If I ran the cards without sli or by themselves. no errors. One of the guys here suggested taking ram out and using only the second and 4th dimm. I took out 2 sticks of ram and it cleared right away. Found out that one of the sticks I took out was bad...Not bad enough to stop working..But just enough to cause these issues. Just a thought or a suggestion-check your ram? I would have never thought the ram was causing my problems..
Not sure if I am speaking out of place..But I only own the z77a-gd65...I have owned other z77a boards too. I have only tried to disable the pci-e 3.0 on this board with no issues. Hope you figure it out. Would like to know what is causing your issues. I plan on purchasing this same board in the future.
Thanks for the feedback fulwinder, I thought the same at first  and tryed another manufacturers ram and the results did not change:(

  • X79A-GD45 PLUS wont detect gpu with pcie gen 3 enabled

Im starting to think this board may have compatibility issue with certain gpus, I have tried a gt210 and a 6990 and both work with gen 3 enabled but a 290x will not all i get is one long and 2 short beeps and i know its not the card since this is the second r9 ive tried i also believe i have the latest bios installed 17.8 H80 although i have not tried downgrading the bios yet. for some reason this gen 3 mode seems to be crucial for gpus to work on my board otherwise i get black screen for eternity with drivers installed. the problem may lie with amd cards since even though my 6990 works with gen 3 enabled it blackscreens when drivers are installed while the 290x just beeps and the pc will not boot while the nvidia works fine.

Well it appears i have nailed the issue the problem is actually because i have an engineering sample i7 2490x (3960x es) i probably should of mentioned that originally... but anyway although the cpu dose support pcie 3.0 my msi mobo dosnt support the cpu therefore thats where the problem starts i realised this when i read this https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=172361.0 which is strikingly simular to my problem and is most likely the cause and the issue with my 6990 was because its dead and its in gpu heaven right now because it did work before flawlessly so it looks like i will only be using pcie 2.0 cards unless msi decides to put in support for es chips or in the far future when i decide to upgrade my chip and not cut corners .

  • PCI-X support

Is PCI-X 1.0 or later, support available in Solaris OS-SPARC?
Also how about its Intel version? Pl. let me know

I think vanilla PCI is 33 MHz. 66 MHz is a PCI-X rate. Anyway, step is to talk to the motherboard manufacturer and make sure you are doing everything necessary to allow a 32-bit 33MHz PCI device to work in one of the PCI-X slots. If that doesn't work, the next step to talk to Creative. I doubt anyone here has any experience with this.
Also, I KNOW that the PCI slot is stuck between the two PCIe x6 slots. All I'm saying is that something is not right (ie. Tyan screwed up) if you can't use all 3 slots at once. I don't have any experience with SLI. Is there a rigid connector between the 2 cards that doesn't fit if there is a 3rd card in between. If it is, I'm suprised that a dual-slot solution where the 2 slots aren't adjacent is even conforms to the required spec. Is the problem that your heatsinks are too big? Exactly WHY does it become unusable, and how could Tyan possibily think that such a restriction is reasonable?

  • Will SB PCI 128 Support CDRW and DVDRW Earphone Listeni

    Hey Gang,
I was able to listen to my headphones privately on my CDROM. The jack was located on the front of the device just below the cdrom turntable.
My soundcard has been my SB PCI 28. My problem is that since I got rid of the old cdrom and upgraded to a DVDRW and a CDRW I haven't been able to listen to my headphones/earphones anymore.
Does my SB PCI 28 earphone support earphone/headphone listening on a DVDRW or CDRW, or is is STRICTLY FOR CDROM's?
Do I have to download new drivers, reset a jumper or get a new card?
I've tried pluggin the audio cord from the cd/dvd to each one of the three rectangular input jacks on the sb pci 28 and no joy.
    Thanks,
    HULK

Make sure you disable Digital Playback for the DVD-ROM.....in device manager and the software you are using for example WMP.....

  • When is PCI-6704 supported by NI-DAQmx?

As of NI-DAQmx 7.3, this analog output card is only supported by Traditional NI-DAQ. This is basically a question for NI, but if you know feel free to answer!
    Thanks,

  • Can PCI-6023E support hardware Analog trigger

I try to use the PCI-6023E to do the hardware analog triggering, but it gives me the Error-10403 while I test with the vi example, Aiacquires N Scans Analog Hardware Trig.vi. Is there any way for this board to do the hardware triggering?

    Jack,
The PCI-6023E DAQ board only supports digital triggering. You can check all the features of this board in the Data Sheet and Specifications on the Catalog page (see link below)
    2002 Catalog - PCI-6023E
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=1063〈=US
If you need to perform analog triggering, you have three options:
    1) You can simulate it by acquiring continuosly all the signals that you want to monitor including the one that acts as the analog trigger. Compare the value read from this last one with the boundary that is supposed to trigger the acquisition, and when the value read reaches this boundary, you can save or display the data from all your channels.
    2) You could implement an external circuit that will compare the analog trigger signa
l with the boundary value, and when they coincide, will generate a digital pulse that you can use as a digital trigger. This option optimizes your CPU usage.
You can find detail information on how to set up the digital trigger in Chapter 4>>Timing Connections of the User Manual linked below.
    6023E/6024E/6025E User Manual
    http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/0C88F40FFE7F28CD862569AE00574AC1?OpenDocument&node=132100_US
    3) Finally, you could get one of our boards that supports analog triggering. The PCI-MIO-16E-4 board has similar specifications that the PCI-6023E, and it has some additional features as well. See link below for more information.

  • What is the earliest version of iTunes with nano third gen support?

Hey there. The newer releases of iTunes have been progressively not working well with my system, so I want to roll back the clock and get a previous version. Which is the earliest version of iTunes that will support the nano third gen?

Uhhh...nooo, that's the current version of iTunes that on top of being bloated with unnecessary non-optional software that screwed up my computer, isn't working properly.
Plus, I believe my third gen nano worked with 7.4 and 7.5. I want to know if it would have worked with an earlier version of iTunes, as every release of iTunes, 7.4 and after, has been extremely glitchy on my system.

  • Z77MA-S01 PCIE GEN 3 issues

    Hi,
My system freezes as soon as PCIE GEN3 is activated in BIOS. If the option is disabled the computer is rock solid. I've contacted MSI support and they sent me a beta-BIOS but that made things even worse. What I can tell is that the computer freezes when the graphics card (GTX 670) is going from idle to performance. As a part of the power-saving feature the card then switches PCIE type fron 1.1/2.0/3.0 resulting in a freeze. The problem is that I can't decide if this is a motherboard BIOS or graphics card driver issue.
What do you think? All input much appreciated!
    My system:
    CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K
    Motherboard: MSI Z77MA-S01
    RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4096MB) CL9 1600Mhz VENGEANCE LP
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 2048MB OC
    HDD: A-DATA SSD 510-series 120GB
PSU: be quiet! Straight Power E9 480W 80+ Gold Modular
Optical Drive: DVD±RW Samsung 22X DL Black OEM
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit

    Thanks for the input!
Well the system passed a stress test without any issues when running with GEN3 disabled. A friend of mine working with a company building computers put together this computer and ensured me that the PSU should be well enough for my system. Nothing is overclocked or otherwise tweaked. I'm going to try to run the card in another computer with PCIE 3 slot as soon as possible.
What I could gather from the speecs of the PSU it has 38A output. I tried to attach the PSU speccs here but couldn't for some reason. It can be found on the be-quiet website...
    Thanks again!

  • Do 875p neo's 32-bit PCI slots,support 66Mhz speed?

I have the 875p neo motherboard and I would like to knlow if the PCI slots on this motherboard support 66Mhz speed or just the basic 32bit/33Mhz.
Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks guys.I knew about the server motherboards but I was hoping that modern mobos like the 875p neo would have such a feature as 66 Mhz.
    Guess I was wrong!!!

  • 7th Gen support for Rhythmbox?

Rhythmbox is a music player natively installed in Ubuntu Linux that was inspired by iTunes. It includes support for a lot of Apple Devices. The problem I am having is that my newly-purchased 7th Gen iPod nano is not supported, and I was wanting to know if there was a fix or a work around? gtkpod is also pointless as it only supports iPod nano up to 4th Gen.

You can do just that. Highlight any song and hold the select button > Start Genius.
This will let you start Genius, but it behaves differently now. It used to be than when I started Genius from a song, the selected song was part of the playlist and I wouldn't have to do anything special to play it.
Now, when I start Genius it gives me a list of songs based on the one I picked, but it doesn't include the one I started from. I also have to manually start playing one of those songs, or select "Shuffle" to actually start playing the playlist.
I'm so used to just starting Genius and walking away. The way it's implemented with the ATV2 is quite annoying to me.

  • PCI cards supported by dasylab?

    G'day all.
The company im working for is considering purchasing dasylab V9 (latest version) and I am wondering if anyone has a list of PCI boards (in particular vibration) supported by this software. thanks in advance

You'll find the best list at www.dasylab.com -- click on Drivers to
view the actively supported drivers, as well as driver series that
work, but may not have active ongoing development and support.
There may be other vendors with DASYLab support.
There are many factors associated with purchasing a board for vibration
measurement. What are the characteristics of the signal that you need
to collect, what sensors will you be using, what signal conditioning /
filtering do you need? Some boards come with a direct signal connection
for accelerometers, and have filtering and other signal conditioning.
Others, you need to purchase a separate signal conditioning
    solution....

  • Does iPod Classic 6th Gen support a headphone remote for pausing/playing, adjusting volume, and advancing the track?

I know that the 7th Gen does support this feature, and my iPod video (5th Gen) does not.

    The listing for Apple's EarPods
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD827LL/A/apple-earpods-with-remote-and-mic
under Compatibility, shows it supporting back to "iPod classic 120GB (2008)."
The official list of iPods does not actually name iPods after the 5th gen model by a "gen" name, but if you look at the list
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353
it is clear which one "iPod classic 120GB (2008)" refers to.  There is an earlier "iPod classic" ("6th gen") model from 2007 that is apparently NOT supported by the EarPods.  But it's possible that Apple's older headphones with remote control works with it.
