PCK with XI

Can PCK and XI be installed on one WAS 6.40 standalone system?
I have reviewed the SAP PCK Installation Guide (SR1), and it seems that the recommendation is to have the PCK on a separate WAS 6.40 system.
Regards,
James

This is not possible and would not make any sense.

  • Using PCK with  XI3.0

    Greetings,
I have installed the PCK SP5 running on J2EE server. The PCK GUI is working fine. we have also configured a simple scenario to send a File from PC (where the PCK is installed) to XI. In the XI directory when I tried to configure the Communication Channel of type File, the system doesn't show the PCK host on the Adapter Engine DropBox !
How can I connect the PCK to the SLD ? I could find any link from the PCK config tool.
All the adapter config is done in the XI directory what is the use of the PCK config tool ? I am sure I am missing something !
    Thanks for you help.
    Regards,
    M. Zehana

    Thanks Guy,
According to SAP Documentation, we should configure the communication Channel centrally in the XI directory !
So we also need to make another config in the PCK itself?
When Creating the Communication Channel in the Xi directory, what king of adapter engine should we select?
Is there any document that can help with PCK Config ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Pck and is

    difference between pck and IS

    Hi,
    1. what is a PCK
Decentral Adapter Engine is a PCK.
The PCK is a J2EE-based application that uses the Adapter Framework, which is also based on the SAP XI Adapter Engine. The adapter framework is based on the SAP J2EE Engine (part of the SAP Web Application Server) and the J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA).
    2. How is it different from XI integration server
When Xi is installed we get default, central adapter engine.
Central adapter engine is on Integration server and decentral adapter engine is outside IS.

    I've found the reason... :-)
I'm using the designer from Acrobat professional instead of the designer from Adobe LiveCycle.
I've got Acrobat professionnal 7.0.0 and trying your sample it didn't function.
Knowing that there was a new version of Acrobat professional (7.0.7)I've installed it, and now your sample function.
I have to mention that the count method is not listed in the choice menu that appears when you're typing code inside the designer. It means that some functions have to be tryed even if the popup menu of the list of available methods doesn't mention it.. (in this case it's the count method)... :-)
There are a lot of things like that (for example there is the checkbox problems that are not good managed before Acrobat Reader 7.0.7, and Acrobat professional 7.0.7)
So I suggest to the developpers that are reading this post to always install the last version of Acrobat Reader, Acrobat Professionnal, Designer, in order that everything goes well with the product.

  • Sample adapter with NWDS

    Hi gurus
Could any one give me a description of how to use the sample adapter (sample_ra.sda) with NWDS so that I would be able to compile it successfully.
[I need to know what files to import and how i do it]
    Thanks in advance
    Jason

    > - How do i import this new adapter in XI?
    > - Do i need to package it in a certain way?
you have to deploy the adapter to the XI/PCK with SDM.
For this your create an RAR (ressource adapter archive) with WinZip and store this in an SDA file again with WinZip.
    See here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/4f/eae1401b52b533e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
The adapter meta data are uploaded to Integration Repositiory, so you can create communication channels for your adapter.
    > - Is it obligatory to have a PCK?
No, but with a seperate testing system you minimize the risk to disrupt the XI system with bad code
    > The documentation on SDN are not very clear on the matter.
We will work on that soon
    Regards

  • Adapter configuration in Partner Connectivity Kit

I used sap sample adapter as sender and File Adapter in partner connectivity kit as receiver, I configured both sender agreement and receiver agreement, both adapters just do the file processing, it is very simple, but still do not function, are there any tricky i need pay attention to?

    Hi,
Yes the PCK is enough to test your development. In order to do so you need to configure a loop scenario:
You must set a number of xiadapter properties with the J2EE Visual Admin Tool
See help.sap.com under "Configuration Objects for the Adapter Test" (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f7/0c2441509fa831e10000000a1550b0/content.htm)
You must create one communication party in the PCK with one service.
For this party/service, you also require a sender and receiver channel with the adapter type to be tested.
You must create one sender agreement and one receiver agreement.

  • FileSys with PCK Vs R/3 with XI

    Hi Experts,
I'm a learner in XI. I have some doubts about PCK.
In the scenario "FileSys with PCK --> R/3 with XI", for posting PO from FileSys to R/3,
       - the PCK receive the source XML msg through File Adapter and it will send the msg to XI Box through XI adapter.
       - the XI will receive the msg through XI adapter and post into R/3 through IDOC adapter.
    a) Interface mapping will not be there in PCK. If I am right, what transformation takes place for the source XML msg after the PCK receives it.
    b) What exactly the XI adapter do in this scenario.
    Please clarify me.
    Thank you.

    >> iam not usre y again using tranforamtion here.
    b) What exactly the XI adapter do in this scenario.
    >> you interact from XI to PCK using XI adpter this is option for perfomance.

  • IDoc-to-File scenario with external Partner ... PCK necessary?

    Hi all,
I have a question concerning to a IDoc-to-File Scenario with an external Partner. Here is a short Description of the Scenario:
The SAP ERP System creates an IDoc which should be send to the SAP Integration Server. The Integration Server respectively the IDoc-Adapter transform the IDoc in IDoc-XML. The Integration Server executes a Mapping and so on. In the final step the Integration Server should send the XML-File to a FTP Server in New York (external Partner) with the File/FTP-Adapter.
Have I to install the Partner Connectivity Kit at a Server in New York or is it working without the PCK? Which are my possibilities?
    Thanks for your help
    with kind regards
    Christopher

    Hello,
If the FTP server has connectivity to XI and if the
port is open XI can directly do the FTP using File
    Adapter.
    Thanks,
    Himadri
    Hi,
    thanks for your quick answer.
What means "connectivity to XI"? Our SAP-Environment is in Germany and the FTP-Server is in New York. Is it enough to open the port in the firewall?
    Thanks for your answer

  • Problem with PCK 7.1 SP07 JCA Sample Adapter

    Hello!
I have a Problem with the JCA Sample Adapter in the PCK 7.1 SP07. I will test the Configuration ( http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/f7/0c2441509fa831e10000000a1550b0/content.htm ) .
But the receiver channel has a Massage processing failure: u201CMessage processing failed. Cause: java.lang.Exception: JNDI name of the ra connectionFactory is not configured. Go to the directory and create a value with name 'JNDIName' and value 'deployedAdapters/<ra name>/shareable/<ra name>' as module configuration data of the module 'ModuleProcessorExitBean'u201D
In the JNDI-Browser of Netwaver Administration canu2019t found JNDIName from directory ('deployedAdapters/sample_ra/shareable/sample_ra). I have located the name deployedAdapters/com.sap.aii.adapter.sample.ra/shareable/com.sap.aii.adapter.sample.ra and change this in the receiver channel  u201CTo_Au201D. But I have the same problem.
I hope you can help me!
    Thanks & Regards
    Stefan

    Hello!
    Yes I followed the Instruction.
I have deployed the Sample Source as AdapterJCA, change the JNDI name in the SampleRa.xml and upload to CPA Cache.
I have by now the Configuration deleted in PCK and rebuild the scenario. The demo Configuration runs now. I think the Configuration in the CPA Cache was wrong.

  • PCK ( Small vendors ) with this requirement what   needed   --- Help  ?

    Hi  Friends ,
We are used to say the Partner Connectivity Kit (PCK) enables you to convert messages from your system landscape to XML format and forward them to the Integration Server.
XI is used as a central platform to exchange and monitor messages between SAP systems and also with legacy (non SAP) system.
    My question is
<b>   1. PCK is for Outside of our landscape right ?</b>   Eg. Big company ( say motor cycle manufacturing Company ) is having SAP R/3  and  XI .  But  small vendors ( who are spplying the engine and chasisi like that ) they are not having XI .
<b>a. Do they ( small vendors ) need to have PCK ? </b>
<b> b. PCK mainly used to convert their files to XML, format ?</b>
Please i am not much clear about this . Please explain me using the above Example.
<b>C .Without PCK it is not possibe ?</b>
    <b> 2. For eg I am having 50 Vendors  .</b>
<b>    a. Do i  need to have 50 separate pck at each vendors ?      </b>
                   b. Do i need to configure Each vendor's PCK ?
<b>         Please Calrify me these doubts</b>
    Best Regards .,
    V.Rangarajan

    Hi,
Firstly PCK is used to Integrate Partners that don't use either XI or any Other Integration solution. It is a low cost solution so quite affordable. As you said small time business partner who have got their own application and want to share the data with organization.
    1. PCK is for Outside of our landscape right ?
Yes: Basically with small time partner such as vendors.
Do they ( small vendors ) need to have PCK ?
Given that if they have to exchange data with the organization that is extensively using XI or PI then YES.
    b. PCK mainly used to convert their files to XML, format ?
PCK is used to convert any message to XML. Need not necessarily be file.
C .Without PCK it is not possibe ?
    NO
    2. For eg I am having 50 Vendors .
    a. Do i need to have 50 separate pck at each vendors ?
YES If all the vendors have to communicate >? unless they are already  using solution that allows vendors to commnicate with organization.
    b. Do i need to configure Each vendor's PCK ?
    YES
    <b>Cheers,
