PCMCIA Card Connectivity on a Satellite A200-1A9

I recently picked a A200-1A9 from London and currently using it in India. And i realise that i cannot use my wireless PCMCIA card from the mobile operators for the internet connectivity.
There is no option for the card to slide in.
Am i missing something? Or is this a simple matter of not_ enough_search_before_buy scenario? Help.

Thanks for the points :)
Well, I presume you used your old wireless PCMCIA card to connect to the nearest available WLan.
So why do you want to use the PCMCIA if this notebook supports an internal minPCI WLan card.
There is an switch at the notebook side to activate the WLan antenna. Furthermore with FN+F8 key combination you should be able to enable the WLan card.
Check it out.
PS: The USB-to-PCMCIA adapter is not known to me :(

  • Strange issue with SD Card reader on my Satellite A200-1A9 & A100-338

I have two Toshiba Laptops, one for work (A200-1A9) the other for home (A100-338), both have the same problem with reading SD cards from the internal reader.
Most of the time when I insert an SD card (varing sizes 256MB, 512MB, 2GB) the laptops request the driver disks. This is VERY frustrating as the Readers are standard build within these models. What makes this worse is the fact that every now and then, there is a card that can be read by both machines. If it reads on one, it reads on the other. Always the same cards never changes. Therefore, if the reader IS able to read SD cards without Drivers why is it that it demands Drivers for others. Drivers that are not provided, don't seem to exist and altermately mean that I just can't use those cards.
I just don't get why it is a problem.
There must be an answer out there, I hope that someone reading this Post knows it and is willing to share. Thanks!

I have the same problem but my husband has found a resolution for it.
When you plug in the card to the reader, windows states it has found new hardware, let it search for drivers, it will eventually come back and say it cant find the drivers and gives you the option to let windows find this or search manaually (advanced), click the manual advanced and the this opens a dialogue box with a browse and a path box with C:\toshiba\drivers. Enter C:\ in this box and then click next, this will cause the computer to search the whole of the hard drive and pick up the VISTA drivers which work a treat.
The dialogue box then tells you that it is installing the driver for this device. Experience has shown that you will have go through this three times as it installs other components along with it. However every time after that the card will plug and play as normal.
    Hope this helps......phew!!!

  • Can I use additional internal HDD for my Satellite A200-1A9?

    Hello, new to these forums,
I recently bought the A200-1A9 and I'm very pleased with it. I was interested in adding an additional internal HDD to the exisitng 120 GB one . I obviously didn't do enough research as I bought a Toshiba MK2035GSS: 2.5" HDD 200 GB thinking it would slot right in the spare slot and it doesn't.
So really I'm looking for some advice on if I can add an extra internal drive and if so what model and how. After taking of the back slot cover there does look to be room for another drive although I'm not sure if the correct connections are there or maybe if the space is used for somthing else.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin
As far as I know some A200 models are delivered with 2 HDDs. because of that Toshiba make standard notebook chassis. All A200 models use this standard chassis. Your A200 is delivered with just one HDD and because of that place for second HDD is empty. This does not mean you can use second HDD.
I have the same notebook as you and in my case there are no any HDD connectors prepared for second HDD.

    Hi Dokie,
I scan my pc with a Device Manager and it showed these results. Some of the drivers are not correctly installed I guess and these are the Realtek driver and the Chicony camera driver. Do you think this might be the reason?
    Thanks

  • How to connect my Satellite A200 with a Philips LCS TV?

Hi, I have problems to connect my Satellite A200 1E1 with a Philips 32 PF9967D LCD-TV HD ready.
The manuals recommend a HDMI extension that is unfortunately not availble with my Laptop.
However, isn't is possible to use a S-Video connection instead? I could accept a reduced quality. When I connect the Laptop with the TV, I have the impression that the Satellite does not send any signal out. The "FN F5" combination does not show the opportunity to switch between the screens. Once I connected a beamer and had no problems at all with switching between beamer, laptop screen or both.
Any comments would be highly appreciated, thanks a lot in advance.

    Hello
In user manuals is written in almost each chapter about ports or slots a short comment: depending on configuration. That means that this users manuals can be used for different A200 notebook models.
Every notebook delivered with HD-DVD optical disc drive has also an HDMI port. According the notebook specification your notebook has no HD-DVD ODD and because of that there is also no HDMI port.
For TV-out there is sonly one port S-Video. Using this port you can send video signal to your TV. I have LCD TV too and I have used it many times with my A200 notebook. It is very simply but be sure you use the right channel (S-Video) on your TV. Using FN+F5 key combination you can switch to the TV.
If this does not work you are doing something wrong.

  • Cannot connect my Satellite A200-1MB to new WLAN router

    Hi All,
Recently i bought the LinkSys Router (Model no: WRT120N) and configured it. But it is not connecting to my TOSHIBA laptop (model no: Satellite A200-1MB) with this new router.
It is a wireless connection. I don't think its something to do with the router because the other laptops can access the signal and they can able to connect to that router.
Can anyone please help me out in fixing this?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Razzaq.

    hi rajak.net,
sure all users in this forum are willing to help...
    make sure that:
    - the same encryption method is used
    - the same access key
    - the same channel is used
    - the ssid is visible
if you cant make a connection turn of *all* encryption and test it
sometimes a update of the ap firmware makes it running...

  • Re: Satellite A200 unable to connect phone - No Bluetooth

Some years back I bought a Satellite A200 (PSAF6A-OWOOIN) running Vista, which my daughter has since upgraded to windows 7.
Previously the notebook had Bluetooth connectivity to my mobile phone (not that I ever used it),
however (now that I do need it) I can no longer connect, or even find any bluetooth software.
I have searched for a suitable download, but the only one I could find, would not run/start due to an incompatibility ????
I real need to be able to connect my phone to my computer, as we have video that we wish to forward to the police on disk.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
First of all it would be really interesting to know if BT is enabled on this notebook.
Can you see a small BT icon in the taskbar?
What happens if you would use the key combination FN + F8?
This key combination toggles between the Wlan and BT and enables/disables the connectivity.
In case you cannot enable the BT or the icon does not appear in the taskbar, visit this Toshiba BT portal https://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/ and download and install the latest Toshiba BT stack for the Win 7

I am using SURPLUSMETER I am also using Apple Airport Time Capsule as my Router that is connected to my Satellite dish Internet Modem ... Now on the Surplusmeter I have the option for PPP Modem . Ethernet Port , Airport , Network Card , & Adaptor .
Which one can I use properly to monitor all the wireless Devices in my hous

Actually, none of the options will do what you are looking for it to do. That is because, this application only monitors the traffic from the device it is hosted on. That would also mean that you would have to run a copy on each computer that will access the Internet on your network; note their individual usages, and then, combine them to get an idea of the total usage.
However, if you are only interested in the amount of Wi-Fi traffic that only your computer is seeing, then the "AirPort Network Card" option would be the correct choice.

  • Satellite 2410-413: USB2 PCMCIA card doesn't work

Good morning. It is my first time on a forum, and my English is poor.
I have tried to install a PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports (hw & sw) on my Satellite 2410-413 in order to use a DTV dongle (hw & sw).
It will not work: The ports seem to be declared all right in the computer but in effect, a simple 64 MB USB-2 memory key [a Sony "micro-vault" key), will not work, and neither will the Winfast DTV dongle.
Paradoxically, both the mem key will work on any of the three USB-1 ports, and the DV dongle will light up on any USB-1 port. The PCMCIA card with 4 USB-2 ports is new. I cannot locate the origin of the problem.
Would any one help me with this question?
Thank you in aadvance for your reply. Here is (maybe ?)
Another way of formulating the question: how are USB ports managed by the system?

    > Hello Rasta

    Many thanks to you Mike30.
I have a couple of ideas now:
    - supplying the USB2 card with additional power (ie other power than computer), (but how?)
    - uninstalling and further, re-installing the USB2 "Truewin" PCMCIA card bus, and after that trying the "leadtek-brand" DTV sw.
    Cheers,

  • Is it possibly connect my Satellite A200-10W to TV

Could i possibly connect my satellite A200-10W to TV?
If so, what peripherals do I need to buy?

yes you can, simply purchase a S-Video cable(http://www.laptopaccessoriesinc.com/images/5FT_4_PIN_S-VIDEO_to_3_RCA_TV_male_Cable.jpg) and connect and you also need one Audio cable which can give sound output to TV (http://www.germes-online.com/direct/dbimage/50103844/Audio_Video_Cable.jpg)

  • Re: Satellite A200 - After Win7 installation SD card reader doesnt work

    Hello,
I have installed Windows 7 on my Satellite A200 and now cannot find my SD card reader.
Where can I find the driver for that?
I did not find it in the download section from Toshiba.
    Rob.

    Hi
The drivers for SD card reader is called Flash Media Driver.
The Flash Media Driver is for your Bridge Media Slot. This slot lets you insert either a SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture card.
If such driver is not available for Win 7 then you should take the one released for Win Vista.
    Cheers
