PCMCIA Card Readers? Which will work?

I'm considering getting a PCMCIA card reader for my camera's SD cards and possibly other memory cards, to use with a Wallstreet using OS 9 and/or a PB 1400 using 8.6. (I don't have the thingy to use a PC card in a 520c!)
Will anything work, or only certain ones? What would you folks recommend?

For your information, I am using two SanDisk devices:
One is the 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter (until now only tested with a 16 MB SmartMedia card), which works fine in a PB 190cs and a PB 5300c. A minimal System 7.5.3 on the SmartMedia card will even boot both these computers (Command + Option + Shift + Delete to bypass the system on the internal hard disk).
The other one is a CompactFlash PC Card Adapter, which functions equally well in the aforementioned PowerBooks. The CF card, too, can be used as a startup disk. A CompactFlash card in the CF adapter is even recognised by an old Model M2864 V1/B PowerBook PCMCIA Expansion Module in a PB 540, albeit not as a bootable disk. Said expansion module had difficulties with the SmartMedia card in the 6-in-1 adapter, though. Things may be a bit different with another memory card, or with a M2864 V1/C expansion cage (I have access to that module as well, but have not carried out the tests).

AS it stands now, in order to use the calculator that comes with the Dashboard, you cannot read from a list of numbers in, lets say, word or excel. The dashboard is full screen and nothing can stand along side it. Is there a way to get the calculator from the dashboard to appear along with other programs? Need a solution to create BOM which will work for all Component category

I want to create BOM.
I am using LSMW (std batch input program RCSBI010).
After execution I came to know that it will not work for if Item category (STPO-POSTP) = 'D' (Document).
Can Anyone tell me Is there any way to create Material BOm which will work for all kinds of component(Item)Category.
Below are the diffnt types of Item Category:

2.It seems there are some additonal item categories apart from standard item categories(A Alloy Item ,M Phantom material ,
X Coded, Non-Stock Item) for which you have to identify for which fields the value will be populated.
3.In my understanding it's possible through a BDC recording through T.code SHDB and befor this activity discuss the same with
your ABAP consultant as it involves some text items too.

How To Add scrollbar in Spark list which will work on mouse movement ?

Hi,
I want to add scrollbar in Spark list which will work on mouse movement, i.e instead scrolling down it will sense mouse position and scroll automatically. I could not find a way to handle this with horizontalLayout.
I tried hovering on list and setting ensureIndexIsVisible(index) but hovering element index is not present in the Spark List.
Any idea on this will be highly appreciated.

HT201401 Speakers will not work after updating iPhone 4 to iOS. Apple Store said there are no speakers available which will work with the iOS6. Does anyone know where to get speakers which will work with iOS6?

That's a bunch of hogwash. My 4S is running iOS 6 and works with all my external speakers, both at home and at work.

Yes. You need 2011 or later in order to mirror as it requires the newer processor. The alternative is airparrot, which does it via software.

Can anyone recommend a USB CF card reader that will work in my Macbook Pro Retina? My USB card readers for CF cards do not work

At present, the only way I can load photos from a CF card to my new Macbook Pro Retina is by loading them onto an external hard drive via an old PC that can accept either of my USB card readers, then plugging the external hard drive into my MBP. Neither the USB card reader or the cable that comes with the Canon HDSLR camera will transfer photos directly to my MBP. I find it unbelievable that I have to go to a PC to load photos because I can't do it with my new MBP.
Has anyone found a reliable USB CF card reader, or one that connects via thunderbolt or HDMI, at any price, that will work directly with the new MBP Retina?

This is what we need:
Location photoshoot - we use the Canon EOS 5D Mk II still camera & the Canon FX100 pro camcorder.
CF cards are: SanDisk Extreme UDMA & SanDisk Extreme Pro UDMA 6 for video (I think they are both Type II) My Mac recognises them both as FAT 32 format
My MBPRetina is on the latest version of Mountain Lion OSX 10.83
the files from the camcorder will transfer to my MacBook Pro Retina directly via the camera's cable but it is quite slow & it means I cannot continue to film while downloading files but this we can live with.
the files from the still camera Canon EOS 5D Mk II will not transfer directly via the camera's cable - have yet to get the Canon software to download, but via the camera's cable will not help anyway as we need to have the still camera free to keep shooting.
We need to be able to take out the CF card from the first part of the shoot & download the still shots while just on the Macbook's battery power, while we insert a fresh CF card back into the still camera to continue with the next part of the shoot simultaneously (while the first card is downloading.)
The files from the first part of the shoot will be both in RAW (.CR2) & Jpeg format. We just need to quickly transfer the jpegs, then I do a quick sort, batch the best ones as black/white images, & use these in a client slideshow immediately after part 2 of the shoot.
Obviously we need fast data transfer speeds, & rely on the MBP's battery power while on a location shoot.
The card readers I have tried are an older specific CF card reader branded as Palm, & a USB 2 multi card reader branded as Travel Flash. With both readers, the lights on the readers flash on & off, & the MBP recognises the card & the files will even appear both in Finder & in i-Photo, so it starts importing, then aborts with an error message saying:
'The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36)'
& another message saying:
'the disk was not ejected properly'.
So it appears the MBP does read the CF cards but the card readers don't stay connected, no matter what angle I put them on or however many times I re-connect them.
Yes, they are probably cheap & I want to buy a decent one.
So, in summary:
the card reader needs to work when the MBPR is only on battery power (I read in some forums that some USB card readers aren't so reliable on the laptop's battery power)
the card reader needs to be quite fast. I have read the USB 3 readers won't read CF cards at higher than USB 2 speeds. Is this true? Are the firewire connected ones faster, & if so, are they still reliable on the MBP's battery power?
From research, it appears my problem is associated with my specific model of Mac & platform, being MacBook Retina on Mountain Lion OSX Version 10.83. If any of the recommended card readers have been successful with this, plese let me know.

PCMCIA ethernet card (wired) that will work with 10.4 tiger?

i have unfortunately fried my ethernet port on my 1.33 al powerbook (applecare expired). I must use an ethernet PC adapter card that will work with Tiger 10.4.
The Dlink adapter although mention OSX support only works until 10.3.9.
Anyone here got suggestions as to which PC card to get?

Check Cisco. Also Google your need, i.e. "ethernet pc card and Mac". You should be able to research from there.

PCMCIA card problem; bus not working -- connection to logic board was loose

The PCMCIA WiFi adapter on my good ol' TiBook recently stopped working all of a sudden. (OS X wasn't automatically recognizing the adapter as it used to, and the power LED on the card itself wasn't lighting up.) I thought the adapter itself was broken, but discovered the problem was with the slot itself after trying a brand new adapter in the slot.
I came across this post by user "eww" that ended up fixing the problem in less than a minute. As eww had said:
...Check to make sure your PCMCIA card cage's connection to the logic board hasn't worked loose, as they sometimes do. Release the keyboard (instructions are in your owner's manual) and flip it gently back onto the wrist rest. Look for a brown tab under the normal position of the D and X keys. That's the card cage's connector to the logic board. Press it down firmly; if it moves or clicks at all, it was loose and probably not making good contact. Test again after returning the keyboard to its place.
This worked perfectly for me. I'm posting it here so hopefully it can benefit someone else with the same problem I had. Thank you, eww!

Actiontec MI424WR revisions -- which will work and why?

I ordered Verizon FiOS tonight, and during the checkout, it told me I needed specifically an Actiontec MI424WR revision I router. The person I chatted with during the order told me only Rev I would work as well. Regardless, will other revisions of the router work? I'm looking on eBay and there are plenty of older revisions that are cheaper. I'm ok with a Wireless G router since I'm only ordering 15/5 anyway. If other revisions will not work, what's so special or new about Rev I?

If you buy unlocked iPhone directly from Apple, it will come with T-Mobile sim card. Apple cannot call it sim-free as yet but it is actually sim free, when you remove T-Mobile sim car before turning the phone on. Once the T-Movile sim card is removed it's sim free unlocked iPhone. This has been confirmed by Apple on 10/2/2014.

The iPhone 4s uses a Micro SIM and the iPhone 6 uses a Nano SIM. The Nano SIM is smaller and thinner, so you should get a new SIM, but some customers have been able to trim their Micro SIM down and gotten it to work in the newer iPhones. It is a snug fit since it is also thicker, so I would suggest getting a new SIM if you can.

Controller Cards. Which Will Allow Booting?

I'm in the market for a controller card for my G4 Sawtooth/450. I just read elsewhere that it's a tough find for one that will allow an external drive to remain bootable.
I was looking at two controller cards the SIIG Serial ATA 4 cHANNEL PCI-M (#SIISCSA4M12) and the Sonnet Tempo ATA133 (#STITAT133). Will either work and still allow booting an external drive?

I simply wanted to add a card to allow up to 4 drives and allow them to go past the 136mb wall. When I posted elsewhere (ok "I'm not worthy") I was told that an external drive (firewire) would no longer be bootable unless I went with a Firmtek card. I do boot off an external drive from time to time for diagnostics, thus my concern.
After posting here I called OWC and they said that they've never heard such a thing and that a Sonnet card would work fine.
The source may have been speaking of one of those combo controller+external firewire port cards, but I'm only assuming this.
I'll go for the Sonnet.

External card readers won't work all of a sudden. genius bar had NO clue. anyone can help?

3 external CF readers all of a sudden do not work. i have been using them. also the canon 5D II hooked directly to macbook pro can not be seen. the phots can be seen on PC's and 2 updates ago computers at apple store. i have pix uploaded from these reader, so it did work. any clues. genius bar could not help.

did all of the above. camera is isted as supported, has been on there for years. camera does not mount. 3 cards sometimes mount. tried both elec. hub and usb on laptop. hit and miss to mount. corrupts pix. but can be viewed on pc's and older versions of mac. BUT it had been working for several weeks. i added photos to external HD and iphoto with reader, usrobotics usr8420. so if it was working a few wks and now not ?????????? none of the readers work at apple store with maverick. taking camera there tomorrow. canon 5D II. canon 50D. both onlist as supported by 10.9. i am dead in the water. i feel like i must go buy a new PC and bail on macs. I have work to do with the photos on the CF cards. any more clues guys? please, pretty please.
