PDA plan

When I changed over from my uncles account to my moms account they made a huge mistake. AT&T put my iphone on a pda plan and i have 475 messaging overages when i was on a 1500 txt msg plan but i noticed that this is not because i txt over 1500 txt messages but because they put me on a pda plan and I dont txt over 1500. Also the MEdia Net/Internet(MB) says overage: 75.1 any had this problem before?

at&t made a billing mistake.
You need to contact at&t customer service to have these charges credited, and the iPhone's unlimited data plan and the $10/mo extra for 1500 SMS re-established for your iPhone and account.

  • Are there still activation difficulties? (Please help!)

    I recall last week it was nearly impossible to activate an iphone, or even worse get a number transferred from a different carrier. How is the situation this week? I am hoping to activate an iphone and transfer a number from Verizon. Should I expect an extremely long delay and problems this time around as well? Please let me know if anyone is still experiencing problems with transferring their numbers from a different carrier and activating an account. Thanks!

    Few things that might cause an issue are having a
    1. Business account or some kind of corporate discount > those must be removed.
    2.Porting goes smoothly for most people but some are not so lucky.
    3. Users who cant follow proper instructions on itunes and activate new lines when they already have a number and prematurely disconnect the iphone from itune when they get he this activation requires additional time ( What is happening in the systems when u get that message is that itunes is communicating with the AT&T billing system to mactch the billing info) ( Also if you have any previous data plans like media bundles or blackberry or pda plans. call to have those removed after you get to that last message.

    All of a sudden my T3 via Motorola V3 and AT&T cannot connect to the webpro server 8827. AT&T GRPS is active and I can send SMS but get a DNS lookup time out error when using webpro or StockBroker Pro.

    Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
    During a recent visit to the local AT&T store they changed without telling me my data service such that my rate would have to double to continue using the T3 (called a new PDA rate).
    I don't know about their employees changing your data service without telling you, but I assume you moved from an unlimited Media plan ($15 or so?) to the PDA plan which is something like $30?  I think they are probably within their rights to *not* let you use the Media unlimited plan with your PDA (that is, if you tell them about your PDA), but that's a different thing from switching your service without your permission.  It seems like you would have had to sign something in the store acknowledging the change in service?  Me, I suggest the "don't ask, don't tell" policy, but if you already told them, it's too late for that.

  • Can I use my Nationwide Messaging plan for the iPhone 4?

    I currently have a plan called Nationwide Messaging (you get unlimited texting and data for $35 a month, and minutes are 40 cents each) which works well for me since I rarely use my phone to talk.
    All the iPhone FAQ says is that you need a Nationwide plan, which I have, and a data package, which is already included in my plan. So will this work for the iPhone?

    You'd have to upgrade to the smartphone version of that plan for $55/month since the $35 plan is for regular phones and it looks like they're are added requirements to be eligible for that one.
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/messagingplans.jsp
    "Who is eligible to sign up for the Nationwide Messaging Plan?
    In order to establish your eligibility for the Blackberry or PDA Smartphone plan, please bring either a letter indicating that you are hearing impaired on appropriate letter head from your audiologist, hearing health professional, speech or language therapist/specialist, physician, surgeon, vocational rehabilitation agency counselor, teacher or credentialed therapist; or (ii) your membership card for the National Association of the Deaf, Hearing Loss of America, AG Bell, Association of Late Deafened Adults, Telecommunications for the Deaf, Inc or other similar group.

    Nokia PC Suite has a synchronise (PC Sync) application and it synchronises data between Outlook and Nokia Phone.
    So make sure your data is in Outlook and then use PC Suite to sync it to your phone(s).
    What I am trying to say here is that Nokia PC Suite does not carry the data itself, it moves the data between Outlook and phone.Message Edited by manta on 15-Oct-2006

  • Do I have to buy a data plan? please read desc.

    I would like to purchase a iphone 4 (maybe 5) but i would ONLY like to continue with my plan with talk and text. I would NOT like to purchase a data plan for this phone.
    I would like the phone for its other uses including apps and music and such. But NOT the web features unless i use wifi. I do not want to pay for a data plan if im not going to even use it...
    Is there a "pay as you go" plan for the iphone so i only have to pay the 30 bucks IF I use the web and or download something via web outside of wifi capabilities?

    AT&T will most definitely require a data plan for an iPhone used on its network.
    For T-Mobile you wouldn't have to have a data plan, since you would be bringing your own phone.  T-Mobile does not have an iPhone for its network.  If they do get one in the near future, you would have to buy the phone full price in order to not have the data plan.
    I am pretty sure I heard somewhere that AT&T offered smartphones without data plans, I have heard many complaints about Verizon not selling smartphones without a data plan, and I am pretty sure they said something like that they were able to do so on AT&T/T-Mobile, so why not Verizon?
    I don't see T-Mobile getting the iPhone, and if they do, it will still technically be the AT&T iPhone, AT&T bought out T-Mobile (US) from Deutsche Telekom in Germany, so AT&T technically owns (or will own) T-Mobile, I am not sure if AT&T plans on keeping the T-Mobile name though
    Nope, AT&T requires a data plan of atleast $15 a month for all smartphones.

    Just like Verizon's site, if you read the fine print under each smartphone picture, it says this.
    T-Mobile also requires a data plan for smartphones.
    http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/
    I didn't know about that, though that only seems to apply if you buy the phone at the 2yr contract price, therefore if you buy the phone at retail price, or bring in an unlocked phone, a SIM without a data plan could be used in a smartphone and the smartphone should work without a data plan
    With Verizon on the other hand, being a CDMA network and no CDMA phone can be "unlocked" and doesn't use SIM cards, even if someone did bring in their own CDMA smartphone (flashed for Verizon of course) or bought their smartphone at retail price, they would still need a data plan, wouldn't they?

  • Demo Recording on a PDA

    Hi,
    We are planning to record a video demo of the working of MAU 3.0 Application on a PDA.
    We have a PDA on which the application is working fine.
    I need to know the softwares which can be used to record the screens as a video on a PDA.
    Like, we are using Camtasia for our desktop Client.
    Can you suggest any such tool which will help us in recording our demo.
    Rahul

    Hi,
    You can use pocket PC controller to record the same. Install pocket pc controller on your laptop/desktop and then connect your PDA to the same and now you can operate the PDA from the desktop with mouse and keyboard.
    So now you can use any recording softwares on your desktop/laptop like snagit or any other software to record the demo.
    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Siva.

  • Does SAP MTT2.0 support PDAs?

    Hello Balaji,
    no, there is no Mobile Time and Travel (MTT) version for PDA. All versions that SAP released (1.5, 1.6, 2.0) are for Laptop only.
    You can find the documentation on the service marketplace under the alias /instguides at xApps -> xApps for Mobile Business -> MTT ...

  • J2ME - Pocket PC: neded advices on how to plan the application

    Hi,
    I plan to port to the Pocket PC platform an e-commerce application I developed using JSP/Servlet with BC4J (some pages use direcltly JDBC).
    My actual web application has those architecture and features:
    - the database is Oracle 8.1.6;
    - the output of the application is HTML (no use of Applets), with some JavaScript and css StyleSheets;
    - the application has the standard features of an online-shop, such as shopping cart management, product search;
    - the application gives to the customer other informations, such as order-tracking, sending of news documents to the customers, ecc...
    My PDA application should have this features:
    - on-line and off-line work (connected to the Internet or to a local replica of the database);
    - Only the shopping features are requested.
    I have some doubts on the best strategy to follow to develop such an application:
    - Which database to use (Oracle lite or XML files or ???) to store the data on the PDA?
    - How to manage the data replication?
    - For the on-line work, I think that the user can connect to the standard Web Application (or to an optimized version for little screens). What is your opinion?
    - For the off-line work, I am not sure which GUI to use for the client (HTML or Swing)? I read on this forum about problems with css with Pocket IE; have I to avoid the use of css stylesheets?
    - If I write my application using BC4J, how big will be all the application in Mb (jars, application server, etc...)?
    - Which software do I need for the development and for the deployment (I am now downloading the J2ME Extension and Viewlets)?
    - Other issues I have to care about?
    All help and/or samples and/or useful links/readings are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Marco.

    Marco,
    Considering the processing capabilities of a Pocket PC, I wouldn't go for J2ME, with is mostly dedicated to the cell phones. The PDAP (PDA Profile) for J2ME is not available yet, and your UI would look pretty poor on a Pocket PC as the only available profile so far is the MIDP (Mobile Information Device Profile).
    The other solutions you suggest sound much better, like Oracle Lite. OLite has native synchnronization capabilities with Oracle Enterprise Edition, and that would address your replication needs. Plus it provides a connected/disconnect feature for HTTP/Servlet/HTML that makes the user work transparent. I do beleive that this is avalaible for the Pocket PC as well.
    You should serach OTN this way for white papers, demos and sample code.
    Please let us know if you need more information,

  • Errors while trying to deploy pda labview 8 tutorial

    I am including the text file with the errors.  From what I have read, I am assuming I messed up.  I am just learning about the PDA stuff.  I am using a Dell Axim X51v.  I only had embedded visiual C++ 4.0 and pocket pc 2003 stuff installed with the pda module for labview.  Everything I am reading is telling me that I need visual studio 2005 and the new 8.0.1 upgrade.  Will this fix my problem?  Also, I am assuming I need to uninstall the pda module currently, and then install visual studio and then the pda module.  Is this correct?  I am wondering if the module wasn't able to load these files because it could not find the microsoft develop stuff first.  Thanks.
    PS - I was following the directions included in the pda module package for installing the Bluetooth and SMS stuff.  The Axim said it installed correctly, but there could be issues becuase it was written for a previous version.  Do I still need these items with Mobile 5, or what?
    Attachments:
    BuildReport.txt ‏7 KB

    Hi Megan,
    Thanks for the links.  I found those links when I started having issues.  The document I am referring to is the "Getting Started with Labview PDA Module" guide that came with the pda module cd.  The bluetooth and sms installs are discussed in the additional tools section.
    It looks as if I might have success.  I did a bad thing and uninstalled embedded c++ 4 assuming that visual studio 2005 would handle whatever the labview pda module was requiring.  Wrong!  You need to keep embedded 4 and whatever sdk versions installed as is, and add studio 2005 on top of that with the last step being the pda module update for labview.  As of last night, I was getting both pocket pc 2003 and mobile 5 target items in the project window.  I will try to deploy the tutorial to the actual device today.
    Do you have no idea what those errors were caused by in the text file I uploaded?  Maybe I will get lucky with all the software reinstalling I have done, and it will be fixed.
    I don't plan on using bluetooth.  But you never know in the future.  What I do have a need for is to be able to communicate between a spectrum analyzer (gpib or ethernet) and the pda.  I also want to do some ftp stuff between the pda and other devices.
    One thing that I am finding very disturbing is the limited capability of the pda feature.  It seems more gimmick than useful.  Why on earth don't we have VISA available?  More and more of these pda devices are coming with wireless networking built into them.  It would be nice to be able to communicate with instruments via ethernet/network.  Do we have TCP communication available?  Is it possible to commicate with instruments with a raw TCP socket without the VISA layer?  Meaning, can I send GPIB style visa commands over a TCP connection, and expect responses.  What would I need to make it work?

  • Advance Frame when location (GPS) changes on PDA

    Hi Guys,
    I have a little more advanced question relating to one of the
    showcases on adobe's sites:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/articles/invisible_ideas.html
    I am basically planning something similar, but want to start
    smaller. I am concerned how to get flash lite 2.1 (running on
    Windows Mobile 5 device) to advance to the next flash movie frame
    when a certain location (GPS data) is entered. I do understand that
    I would need a small C++ program running in the background (as per
    adobe showcase), but I do not have experience there.
    Has anyone experience with that / ideas / done that before?
    Also, if someone has a solution done already, I would be willing to
    pay a small amount for it.
    Looking to hear your input!
    Cheers,
    Sebastian

    Hi,
    well, this should be still ok. I have selected in that area to use the standard workspace settings. You can easily test it:
    Vector vect = new Vector();
    String s_Test="test";
    vect.add(s_Test);
    Ok, it will cause an error if you compile that with the 1.1.8. So if you add this into your code, change the JRE environment, you should get an error message at compile time. If you change the last line to
    vect.addElement(s_Test);
    the error should go away. This is the simple test I could think of, if the compilation with 1.1.8 is working fine.
    Once you can compile it without errors, you can go back to JDK1.5 for example in the JRE. This is fine. Even if you create the WAR file with another JDK then 1.1.8, as long as the instructions are 1.1.8 safe, it is fine.
    Have you restarted the PDA after the deployment? So is the WAR file unpacked?
    I have written a blog, how to debug a PDA MI with eclipse. Does this help you any further?
    Hope this helps to solve the issue.

  • Which phones require which data plan?

    Hello!  I'm planning to upgrade my phone and am looking at possibly getting a phone that requires a data plan.  How do you tell which phones allow you to get the $10 data plan?  The only thing I've found says a data plan is required but it doesn't say which one.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the information vereyezuhn. This is correct, Smartphones and PDA devices require the $29.99 or higher data plan. Feature phones can have either the $10.00 data plan or the $29.99 (unlimited) data plan added for data usage. The $10.00 plan provides you with 75 megabytes of data per month.
    To review just Feature phones:
    1) Click on Phones & Devices
    --You will have three choices; Iphone, Smartphones, and Feature phones.
    2) Click Feature Phones and this will show all of the phones that can have the $10.00 data package.

  • Why is data plan required?

    I am looking at upgrading to an iphone but i cant get rid of the $30/mo data plan that i dont need. is this required? if so for how many months? thanks.

    The unlimited data plan is required as long as you remain an AT&T subscriber with the iPhone.
    With the iPhone's visual voicemail feature, all visual voicemail messages are downloaded to the iPhone via AT&T's data network only. If you don't have a data plan, you would pay extra for the data download for each voicemail and if you request that data access be completely disabled for your line/number, you wouldn't have access to visual voicemail, which is one of the best features with the phone IMO.
    But you can't get rid of the data plan with the iPhone 3G especially when AT&T is subsidizing or discounting the full retail cost.
    The iPhone is designed to always have an internet connection as long as you have a wi-fi network that you have access to, or cellular reception. A number of people say they don't need the data plan, but you don't have wi-fi access when driving in car or unless you are stationary in a location where there is a wi-fi network available that you have access to. And you will use it more often than you realize. Right now you have to wait until you are connected to a wi-fi network that you have access to for internet access with your Touch. With the iPhone, you don't need to wait - you always have internet access as long as you have cellular reception.
    The unlimited data plan cost for the iPhone 3G is AT&T's standard unlimited data plan rate for all phones in the smart phone or PDA category, regardless if such a phone is a 3G phone.
    If you don't need or want the unlimited data plan, you should consider upgrading to another phone that isn't in the smart phone or PDA category or which does not require a data plan.

    Extracts :
    General Policy: Use of non-Transmitting PEDs
    Whilst the use of all PEDs is prohibited during the taxi, take-off and landing phases of flight, (when the passenger seat belt sign is on), use of PEDs that only produce spurious emissions are often permitted during the cruise phase of flight. However, the aircraft crew may require PED use to be suspended at any time, and such a request must be obeyed. Such a case might be if the crew suspects that the PED use is the cause of interference with aircraft systems.
    Examples of PEDs that might be permitted to be used during the cruise phase of flight includes:
    laptop computers, PDAs and MP3 players (as long as they do not include wireless transmitting functions); and
    electronic games, DVD players, CD players, cassette players, video or "still" cameras and calculators.
    The use of some mobile phones or PDAs is also permitted by some airlines as long as they are used in the "flight safe" mode only, and this mode is enabled before the PED is turned off before the start of the flight, so that it is already within the “flight safe” mode when it is turned back on in the permitted phase of flight.The restriction on the use of PEDs applies to devices carried onboard by the passenger or provided to the passenger by the crew. It does not apply to time measuring equipment (watches etc.) or implanted medical devices (pacemakers etc.). Any medical devices that include a monitoring feature that includes a transmitting function to a medical centre should have this transmitting feature switched off during the flight – see general policy on use of transmitting PEDs.
    General Policy: Use of Transmitting PEDs
    The use of PEDs that intentionally transmit for the purposes of data transfer or vocal communication is generally prohibited for the duration of the flight. This is due to the level of EM Radiation generated during the communication process being greater than that caused by the PEDs' spurious emissions, which are normally tolerated.Examples of intentionally transmitting PEDs that are generally prohibited are:
    mobile phones, personal computer equipment with wireless wide, local or personal area network (WWAN, WLAN or WPAN) devices, radio transmitters and remote control equipment (which may include some toys).
    Some airlines may accept the use of low power devices conforming to the Bluetooth standard during the cruise phase of flight. The transmissions of these have been shown to be no greater than the host PED's spurious emissions.
    Some aircraft are equipped with WiFi type Wireless Local Area Networks. In such cases, compatible devices may be used during the cruise phase of flight. Use is not permitted on aircraft not equipped with this feature.
    Some aircraft are now equipped to enable mobile phones to be used. Details can be found in the section on Mobile phones. On all aircraft not equipped with these systems, use of mobile phones is prohibited for the entire duration of the flight.
