PDF/A Support?

Hi,
does the content conversion server support pdf/a
pdf/a means pdf archive ie. no hyperlinks.
thanks

Hi
To convert PDF to PDF/A follow the steps as mentioned :
On IBR side:
1. Install PdfExportConverter component on IBR .
2. Restart IBR server
3. Navigate to Conversion Settings - Primary Web Renditions - Convert to PDF using PDF Export - PDF Export Options - Produce PDF/A (check this option).
4. Go to Conversion Listing - Check the option for PDF Refinement.
5. Save the changes and restart IBR server
On UCM Side:
1. Open Configuration Manager Applet - File Formats - application/pdf and change the conversion to PDF Refinenment . Save it and close the applet.
2. Navigate to Administration - Refinery Administration and check the Portable Document Format option box.
Save the changes , restart UCM server
Then checkin PDF to the ucm server and see if the conversion completes successfully.
From UCM open the web url for the content which will be .pdf and the document opens up in PDF/A format.
Hope this helps .
Thanks
Srinath

Voice over can be used, but voice over is not a very selective setting. When enabled, voice over changes how you navigate the iPad completely. It does work though.

  • PDF/VT Support in InDesign CS 5.5

Is there PDF/VT export in InDesign now that CS 5.5 is out? Is there a similar upgrade to InDesign Server? Is there a good resource for the differences between PDF and PDF/VT?
    Thanks,
    Bob

First, let's differentiate between PDF/X-4:2008 and PDF/X-4:2010. In terms of the ISO standards, PDF/X-4:2010 replaces (not supplements) the PDF/X-4:2008 standard. The PDF/X-4:2010 standard loosens some restrictions on how one can express layers in PDF/X-4 and allows layers to be expressed the same way they are in InDesign documents (and for that matter, Illustrator files). There were also some clarifications and corrections applied to the actual text of the standard. There are no physical differences in how PDF/X-4:2008 and how PDF/X-4:2010 files are “marked.” And the good news is that all valid PDF/X-4:2008 files are valid PDF/X-4:2010 files. However, vice versa is not true! This isn't a problem since there is no such thing as PDF/X-4:2008 in terms of the ISO standard.
In terms of what you see in InDesign 7.5, all PDF/X-4 files, despite what the joboptions claim, are actually PDF/X-4:2010 and will allow for layers. InDesign no longer restricts the PDF to PDF 1.4 (again, regardless of what the joboptions say), and allows for JPEG2000 image compression and automatically applies much higher compression to the non-image sections of the PDF file. In the next major release of InDesign, I think you'll see that the joboptions are properly labelled in terms of PDF/X-4:2010 support and there won't be PDF/X-4:2008 joboptions at all.
Secondly, the relationship of PDF/X-5:2010 to PDF/X-5:2008 is exactly the same as PDF/X-4:2010 to PDF/X-5:2008. The PDF/X-5:2010 standard totally replaces the PDF/X-5:2008 standard and provides the same “upgrades” and PDF/X-4:2010 provides for PDF/X-4:2008.
However, I know of no way that you can directly export PDF/X-5 files from InDesign. The PDF/X-5:2010 support is only for the SDK to allow creation of PDF/VT-2 files.
Third, per my original response, the PDF/VT support (both PDF/VT-1 - fully self-contained PDF/VT - and PDF/VT-2 - using PDF/X-5 for external PDF objects known as Reference XObjects) is only available in the SDK.
And finally, in terms of marketing bullet points, I'm just a dumb engineer here and not even part of the InDesign organization. But yes, they don't tell the whole story. I don't think they intentionally wrote this one to mislead, but most likely, those who wrote the marketing collateral probably didn't quite understand any of this at all.
Note that for Illustrator and Photoshop in CS5, the PDF/X-4 that is output has not changed, i.e. it is restricted to the features of PDF/X-4:2008. Hopefully this will be fixed for the next full versions of those programs (i.e., not a commitment). Also note that Acrobat X Pro fully supports PDF/X-4:2010 and PDF/X-5:2010. The preflight support in Acrobat 9 Pro will fail any PDF/X-4:2010 file that has layers per the relaxed rules of PDF/X-4:2010.
All versions of RIPs and printers from our OEM partners using the Adobe PDF Print Engine should be capable of supporting PDF/X-4:2010 and PDF/X-5:2010 (assuming that the OEM has enabled PDF/X-4 and PDF/X-5 support). Full support for PDF/VT-1 and PDF/VT-2 which are based on PDF/X-4:2010 and PDF/X-5:2010 is available via the Adobe PDF Print Engine 2.5 now beginning to appear in our OEMs' products.
    Clear as mud now?

  • Preview PDF Specification Support

I am a developer working on a PDF writing tool for a different platform and am having some compatibility troubles with PDFs generated by the tool and read in Preview.app. They function correctly in other PDF readers, but not in Preview. Specifically, I've been unable to get PDF Actions and ObjStm objects to render (The exact same PDF renders fine in other readers).
Does anyone know what version of the PDF specification Preview.app (or the OS X PDF libraries) supports? Is there support for ObjStm or PDF actions in the OS X PDF libs?
I wasn't sure if this is the right place to ask, since this is a dev question. I figured since it's not related to OS X development, I'd try here first though.
    Thanks!

The best place for dev questions is probably the dev forums:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=727
I understand the OS X pdf function does 1.3 normally and 1.4 if there is transparency.
In my experience Preview is definitely not a complete substitute for Adobe Reader.

  • Error....PDF not supported in Content Viewer (even with PDF stacks removed)

I started this project by changing the default Image Format to PDF not realising that the desktop viewer would not display them. Subsequently I have rebuilt them as Automatic. I am now trying to view the entire project in the desktop viewer in order to make a screen capture movie (moving between articles) but I am still receiving the Error....PDF not supported in Content Viewer despite the fact that I now have no PDF Stacks! Is this because I set the default to PDF originally?
How do I get out of this?

    Thanks Bob
I initially set my default to PDF but then after realising that I could not then use the desktop viewer I had to re-build the "offending" 5 articles as Automatic, so far so good but having done that I still get the same error message! So then I have to rebuild the entire magazine of  825 mb because somewhere the folio builder still thinks it contains PDF stacks even though it doesn’t. This is another example of the failings of this application. As I have said numerous times before Adobe is requiring us to buy a product that is in reality still beta software!
Please submit this as a bug.

  • PDF Viewer support for PDF Highlight annotations

Hello. The built-in PDF viewer installed with Firefox 19 does not appear to support PDF Highlight annotations. Is there a time frame for implementing this annotation type? Thanks.

    Hi anandkulthia,
    Welcome to the Support Community!
PDF files can be viewed as attachments on your BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360 smartphone but native PDF file viewing is unsupported. You may be able to find a 3rd party PDF viewer application in BlackBerry App World™ storefront that might help with this. http://bbry.lv/bM0QK5

  • Output to PDF not supported image files

In generating a pdf from Output to PDF in Bridge CS5, I get this dialog: "Contact Sheet Processed. Some of the selected files are not supported image files." Some of the files are included in the PDF and some are not. I'm making a PDF of INDD files, and can not find a difference between the files that generate and those that don't. I've never had this problem before. Any thoughts, anyone?
    Thank you,

    generate and those that don't.
That should not happen, double check if the filenames all contain the
correct extension and there is only one dot in the filename, the one in
    front of the extension (.indd)
Also use the purge cache for folder option (menu tools/cache/purge cache for
