PDF Annotation Management in Oracle 9iFS

Do you need to manage and search for PDF annotations in Oracle
9iFS? Would you like to store PDF files that are used for
document reviews in Oracle 9iFS? Do you need to search for
files based on information stored in annotations (e.g., sticky
notes, hyperlinks, redlines). Would you like to dynamically
compile different views of annotated PDF files?
If so, we would like to discuss your requirements with you.

hello,
According to your requests, I got some tutorails that are based on certain 3rd party PDF lib.

  • How to install Oracle BPEL Process Manager for OracleAS Middle Tier

    hi,
    i need to install BPEL process manager, so i download the following file from otn
    1.soa_windows_x86_101310_disk1
    2.soa_windows_x86_bpel_101310
    here i read the document named b28980.pdf from bpel\doc\pc.1012 to install BPEL PM
    so i start to complete the pre-installation task
    1.installed Oracle database 10g
    2.Run the Integration Repository Creation Assistant on the Database
    3.Install Oracle Application Server 10g Release3 (10.1.3.1.0) and select either the J2EE Server installation type or the J2EE and Web Server installation type. selected J2EE and Web Server installation type
    and installed according to the Oracle application server installation guide.
    installed OracleAS in the path : D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1
    4.Install the current release of Oracle BPEL Process Manager for OracleAS Middle Tier
    here they mention to select the J2EE and Web Server installation type because that type is selected in Oracle AS installed in Oracle Application Server
    so i start to install the BPEL PM by selecting the setup.exe-->and shows the location source and destination
    default destination is : D:\product\10.1.3.1\OraBPEL_1 selected next on the screen
    the next screen is select installation type here there are two types named
    1.BPEL process Manager for Developer (371MB)
    2.BPEL process manager for Oracle AS Middle tier (107MB)
    i selected 2.BPEL process manager for Oracle AS Middle tier (107MB) and click next
    pop up window opens with title dependencies
    error:
    BPEL Process manager for oracle AS Middle tier will run on top of a supported Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 J2EE server and Web Server Or J2EE server instance. this location does not contain this instance. Please select new Oracle home that contains a supported instance.
    so i changed the destination path to : D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\BIN then also i got the same error.
    please any one mention the path for J2EE and Web Server instance for installing the BPEL PM for Oracle AS Middle Tier.
    Thanks in Advance
    Aswath Thaniga

    If you choose the developer version you will be fine.
    If you have installed J2EE and Web Server installation into D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1 then this is the location you install your BPEL PM into, not D:\product\10.1.3.1\OraBPEL_1 or D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\BIN.
    D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1 is what we call the ORACLE_HOME, generally we create a new home for each install, but in this case there is a dependency on 10.1.3.1 OC4J container. So it needs to be installed into 10.1.3.1 oracle home.
    The bin directory is just the executables for that home, its not the actual. home.
    cheers

The data in the content management will be used by the MIS . would anyone please give us a test result of Oracle 9iFS. We want know the capability, reliability of 9iFS . It will be appreciated If anyone can give us some proposes.
    thanks .

    Thanks for replying. i've tried doing it with one square as a
    movie clip symbol and then flipping that square over with the 3d
    rotation tool and then over and over. but i'm having to draw other
    squares on other layers to make up the rest of the square as it
    gets created. is this the right way to do it? what would be the
    simplest way? i know you said its just an animation, but how would
    you create the animation?

  • Oracle 9iFS configuration assistent

    I have installed oracle 9iFS configuration assistent and after installation i got an error message "areasQueries". I tried also to run ifsconfig.bat, but only ms-dos window appears for a few seconds. I was searching the forum, documentation, web, but nothing found.
    I'am using win 2000 service pack3 and i was instaling oracle 9ifs on the same computere where oracle database 9i is an oracle enterprise manager.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanxs
    PS: Please answer me if the froblem can't be fixed or there is no solution jet.
    Ales

    is the D:oracle... something you entered for the ORACLE_HOME - i.e. is it a typo? If so, i'd suggest de-installing any products (ifs) and re-installing rather than trying to fix the above.

  • If Oracle 9iFS doesn't support JWS why does the 9i documentation use JWS?

    Oracle 9iFS says to use Apache and that Oracle no longer
    supports JWS for that version. However, the developer
    documentation regarding the registering of servlets only shows
    how to register them using JWS. There is nothing about how to
    register the servlets (I am going through the content management
    sample application) using Apache. When I put the classes in the
    ifs custom_classes directory and then put the servlet in a zone
    under the Apache/Jserv directory (outside of ifs) how do I get
    the servlet to know where the rest of the classes in the package
    are? I'm also having the problem that only servlets that I
    write which are NOT part of a package will run from the Apache
    servlet zone. If there is a package identified in the class it
    won't run. Not even if I precede the name of the servlet with
    the name of the package. It won't even work if the servlet is
    the only class in the package.
    Has anyone done this on Apache?
    Thanks.

    Well in the meantime can you point us to documentation or
    examples of implementing servlets unser 9.0.1 as I have exactly
    the problems mentioned by Chris.
    BTW, Chris, I wouldn't apologise for the tone; trying to make
    any sense out of this documentation is frustrating. Come on
    Oracle, this should be better now, now in some unscheduled time
    in the future. The product is released; it is not beta..

  • How to generate multiple output pdf's from one oracle reports

    how to generate multiple output pdf's from one oracle reports.
    I have a report where I have to generate more than one output files from the same report based on a parameter.

    Is this possible in oracle reports, is so how ?

  • PDF generated report in Oracle Forms

    Hi folks,
    I'm new in this forum and I want help on how can I generate a report in PDF format just using Oracle Forms (not Oracle Reports).
    This report will be assembled using some parameters that the user will fill in a form when the program starts. When the user click on a button on the form, based on that information, the program will go to the database to recover some data, and then will assemble the report to be shown to the user in a Adobe Reader screen.
    Is it necessary to use the built in CLIENT_OLE2 or anything else?
    Thanks

    Following these simple guidelines will ensure you have a positive experience in any forum; not just this one! ;-)
    Lets start with some of the basics. What is your Forms version, Client OS version; if web deployed, your browser and Java versions and any error messages you might be receiving.
    ...how can I generate a report in PDF format just using Oracle Forms (not Oracle Reports).What's wrong with using Oracle Reports to produce the PDF file? Manually generating a PDF file means you have to manually format your output and then write it to a PDF file. Oracle Reports is a whole lot easier than this and not prone to the errors you are going to have by manually generating the output.
    If you absolutely have to create your report this way, then I recommend you let the database handle the creation of the file and then simply use Forms to transfer the output file to the client. For this, you would use the WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER.DB_TO_CLIENT or DB_TO_CLIENT_WITH_PROGRESS fucntions to send the file to the client. We need to know the information I request above before we could give you assistance with this.

    Depends on how big is your database.
    For small database, doing a export and import is quick and dirty.
    For larger database, I would suggest migrate the database. But this means a lot of work and test. This is what I would do if I am doing amigration:
    1. Do a cold backup of your 815 database
    2. On your new test box, try to install 815 and start your old database
    3. Upgrade your database to 8174
    4. Install 10gr2 on your new test box
    5. Migrate your 8174 database to 10gr2.
    6 Test a lot
    7. Repeat steps 1-6 2-3 times
    8. Document tthe process and your test results completely.
    9. Repeat what you document on your production box.

  • PDF file created from Oracle Report is attached wrongly

    Hi,
    Please help. It is very urgent.
    I am using Oracle Developer 10gR2, Oracle Report 10.1.2 on Windows 2000.
    I would like to attach the PDF file created by Oracle Report to the Notification sent from Workflow.
    I use the following package procedure in my Workflow.
    procedure Create_File_Attachment (document_id   in varchar2, display_type  in varchar2, document      in out blob, document_type in out varchar2)
    is
         l_itemtype          varchar2(100);
         l_itemkey           varchar2(100);
         l_output_directory  varchar2(30);
         l_filename          varchar2(255);
         src_loc             bfile;
         bdoc                blob;
         src_offset          number := 1;
         dst_offset          number := 1;
         amount              number;
    begin
         l_itemtype := substr(document_id, 1, instr(document_id, ':') - 1);
         l_itemkey := substr(document_id, instr(document_id, ':') + 1, length(document_id) - 2);
         l_output_directory := 'USR_TMP_DIR';
         l_filename := Wf_Engine.GetItemAttrText(l_itemtype, l_itemkey, 'ATR_FILENAME');
         src_loc := bfilename(l_output_directory,l_filename);
         dbms_lob.createTemporary(bdoc, FALSE, dbms_lob.call);
         dbms_lob.fileopen(src_loc, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
         dbms_lob.loadblobfromfile(bdoc,src_loc,dbms_lob.lobmaxsize,src_offset,dst_offset);
         dbms_lob.fileclose(src_loc);
         amount := dbms_lob.getLength(bdoc);
         dbms_lob.copy(document,bdoc,amount,1,1);
         document_type := 'application/pdf; name=attach.pdf';
    end Create_File_Attachment;Oracle Report created the PDF file correctly (original.pdf).
    I tried to attach the PDF into my Workflow.
    I can see the file is attached (attach.pdf), but it cannot be opened.
    The Adobe shows : 'A drawing error occured.' each time I open the attachment.
    I compare the original.pdf and the attach.pdf
    However, there is one specific difference
    - in original.pdf, the line started with '.' (single period)
    in attach.pdf, the line is started with '..' (two periods)
    Thus the attachment cannot be opened.
    After I delete the period, it can be opened.
    Question:
    - Has someone ever succeed in attaching the PDF created from Report?
    - Are the codes above is wrong?
    - Or perhaps the DBMS_LOB.LOADBLOBFROMFILE always double the single period on front of the line?
    - Is there any solution on this?
    Note:
    I have succeed in attaching PDF files unless the PDF created by the Report.
    Sorry for the long post.
    Please help. It is very urgent.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Buntoro

    The code looks absolutely good. I have the same code working in my system. Only difference is I use TRUE and DBMS_LOB.Session for the BLOB I use to read from the BFILE.
    I can suggest one more way to handle to binary attachments if you are on Oracle 9i DB are later versions.
    procedure attach_document (p_document_id   in varchar2,
                               p_display_type  in varchar2,
                               p_document      in out nocopy clob,
                               p_document_type in out nocopy varchar2)
    is
      l_nid        number;
      l_directory  varchar2(100);
      l_filename   varchar2(100);
      l_content_type varchar2(100);
      l_src_offset binary_integer := 1;
      l_dst_offset binary_integer := 1;
      l_err_msg    varchar2(100);
      l_amount     number;
      l_bfile BFILE;
      l_blob  BLOB;
      l_clob  CLOB;
      file_not_found exception;
      pragma EXCEPTION_INIT(file_not_found, -22288);
    begin
      l_nid := to_number(p_document_id);
      l_directory := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_DIRECTORY'));
      l_filename := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_FILENAME'));
      l_content_type := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_CONTENT_TYPE'));
      l_bfile := BFILENAME(l_directory, l_filename);
      dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_blob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
      dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_clob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
      begin
        dbms_lob.FileOpen(l_bfile, dbms_lob.File_Readonly);
      exception
        when file_not_found then
          l_err_msg := to_char(sqlcode)||' - Attachment File "'||l_filename||'" is not found.';
          raise_application_error(-20002, l_err_msg);
      end;
      dbms_lob.LoadBLOBFromFile(l_blob, l_bfile, dbms_lob.LobMaxSize, l_src_offset, l_dst_offset);
      dbms_lob.FileClose(l_bfile);
      -- Encode the BLOB content to BASE64 and attach to notification
      wf_mail_util.EncodeBLOB(l_blob, l_clob);
      l_amount := dbms_lob.GetLength(l_clob);
      dbms_lob.Copy(p_document, l_clob, l_amount, 1, 1);
      -- Mention an appropriate Content Type so that Notification System
      -- understands the attachment content
      p_document_type := l_content_type||'; encoding=base64; name='||l_filename;
    end attach_document;Here I read the BLOB from the filesystem and base64 encode it before giving it to the Mailer. Please note that this is a PLSQLCLOB based attachment as against PLSQLBLOB that you are using.
    Thanks - Vijay

  • [SOLVED] Wanted: extract pdf annotations created in Mac OSX preview

    I just had a collegue return a pdf marked up with "annotations".
    I first struggled with finding a viewer that views the annotations, and those that could (evince, okular) all have more dependencies that I'd want/need.
    I decided there must be an lighter weight way to extract the text of annotations from pdfs.  I searched, read, and learned about pdf annotation formats and I figured out how to extract adobe annotations from a pdf.  Only then did I realize that my collegue didn't use adobe.  The annotations were created in Mac OSX's preview.  Preview, it would seem, does not use the adobe xfpdf format for annotations, it uses some other means to embed the annotations.
    I searched the pdf file in text and hex editors, but I couldn't find anything resembling what I knew to be in some of the annotations.  However Preview does it, the text must be encoded and unreadable in the "raw" file.  This is in contrast, it would seem, with adobe's annotations.
    My question, then, is two-fold.  First, are there any text-annotation extractor tools that can get notes created in OSX's preview?  If not, does anyone know of any documentation outlining how Preview embeds this information?  I've been googling the latter question, but I'll I'm getting is "where-to-click" level tutorials on how to DO annotations in Preview.  I can't find any documentation of how that information is embeded into the file.
    Note: evince does get the text of the annotations, but I'd prefer not to keep that installed.  Evince-gtk is only every so slightly lighter on dependencies.  Also, in evince I get flooded with "sticky notes" with all the annotation text.  It would take a while to move those around and close them one at a time to be able to actually read them.  I'm hoping to be able to extract all annotation text and dump it into a text file.

    Holy crap, it works.  A couple hours of reading ugly docs and 32 lines of code later, I have exactly what I was looking for.
    I'd love it if some volunteers would try this out, beat it up, and see what breaks first so I can improve it.  After a little polishing I might put it up in the AUR.
    Get the code from my dropbox here
    The Ugly Patchwork Makefile and a very brief TODO list are also posted.
    I'll put together a PKGBUILD once this is in better order for distribution and installation.  I just got the darn thing to work, it's time to celebrate, not code more.
    Note to Mods: as in my "report", please move this thread to Community Contributions.

  • Search PDF annotations in Preview?

    How can you search your PDF annotations in Preview? There seem to be no options in the Search bar in Preview. I know you can browse highlighting and annotations via the Sidebar, but you can't search the annotations?
    /edit: it seems that Adobe Reader can search these annotations - select Search (CmdShiftF), then check "Include Comments").
    Can anyone enlighten me on the state of annotation search with Preview and confirm that it is missing?
    Message was edited by: gko18

    I will confirm that it seems to be missing - it does seem that the search bar on the right only searches the text of the PDF and not the annotations. Strange...
    Thanks for the tip about Adobe Reader, I will have to check that out! One of the reasons I chose to use annotations was that I have a textbook that has been scanned as picture, not OCR, and I can't search in the text, so I figured the annotations would help me locate topics later. Hopefully I will be able to use Adobe Reader for this.

    Hi All, I am looking for a way or a PDF annotator app to use in a tablet that don't allow deletion as I edit. I need to use in a controlled process that don't allow user to delete or erase edits once a mistake is made or a rewrite is needed. Thank you

  • PDF generation , FOP and Oracle Express DB

    Am I right in assuming that you can't use the FOP PDF generation utility with Oracle Express Edition Database? i.e. no oc4j directory etc..
    regards
