PDF Article with HTML Animation

Hi all,
Is it possible to have a article in pdf format but have the HTML animation from Adobe edge appear in better resolution?
Currently to get the Animation to appear with transparent background I have to build the article as a JPG, PNG article.
Is this right?

u can have html animation inside pdf folio. Note web content overlays are not resampled which means when u zoom in ur animation will look pixelated.

Does not matter as long as the original edge animation comes with transparent background.

Export indesign with html animation

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to include or link an html animation I've realised with Edge in an Indesign presentation.
I tried to create a button that links to the html file, and export it as an interactive pdf, but then it will work on my pc only..... do you know how I can solve this issue?
Ideally I'd like to see the animation within the pdf (now it will open in the browser), but most importantly I need to be able to share the whole package!
Any solution will be really welcome!

Your best bet would be to host the file on a web server and link to it there. If you don't have access to such space, free hosting isn't that hard to find. Google "free file hosting."

Generate PDF report with HTML data

Hi All,
I am using BI Publisher to generate my reports but I stumbled on a big problem...
I have a table with a column TASK_DESCRIPTION. This column is a CLOB containing a simple HTML coded page. When a user works with the application he sees a nicely formatted page but when I generate a report I get all the html tags in it (< html > < h4 > ...etc...)
Is it possible to somehow convert the source data from the table (which is html code) into readable formatted text when generating the report?

Yes you can do this with an XSL template converting HTML to Formatting objects.
There are a few catches however. First, you must be sure your markup-fragment is valid XHTML, that is all tags must be closed. Luckily the builtin standard HTML-editor does this.
I wasn't able to call BI-publisher from within Apex without the XHTML-fragment being escaped, but i managed to create a query on a table containing the fragment within BI-publisher itself. This leaves the fragment intact, producing a valid XML-document.
This is very important because the XSL attached to the RTF-template must be able to match and convert the XHTML-tags to FO.
Basic setup :
Create a datasource (query) within BIP.
Create the RTF-template and add an extra field (at the top) containing : <?import:file:///C:\xhtml-to-xslfo.xsl?> or whatever location the XSL-file resides.
Now, layout your report using the wizard and change the field containing the XHTML-fragment into <xsl:apply-templates select="TASK_DESRIPTION"/>
There are a few XSL-templates out there converting XHTML to FO. One I found particularly useful : http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/x-xslfo2app/xhtml-to-xslfo.xsl
You might want to change the .xsl so it matches tags case insensitive (eg. <xsl:template match="a|A"> )
Another caveat is the html-entities for special characters. When the XML from the datasource is parsed by BIP it doesn't recognise entities like &Agrave ; .
This can be solved by creating a pl/sql function converting these characters to numeric entities like &#192 ;. and use this function in the select statement of your datasource. see http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_entities.asp
Now you can call the report from Apex using an URL to the report definiton (see BIP docs for URL syntax and parameter passing)
Not a 'really' integrated solution but I had some nice results.
It would be nice though if we could specify a .dtd containing the references for HTML-entities and a sort of flag wheter the report column should be escaped or not, from within Apex. This would allow us to embed XML-fragments within the XML that Apex produces, resulting in a valid XML doc. Using XSL, you can then match the tags of the XML-fragment and convert it to FO.

Is it possible to stream video into a PDF document with HTML 5?

I'm trying to get around using flash to stream videos into my interactive PDF documents, as it's not supported on iOS. I'm wondering if there's a way to use HTML 5 to acomplish something similar. I have access to both InDesign CC and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro.

An alternative is to separate the quiz pages to a separate document and include it in the main PDF as a file attachment. You can create links in the main document to the attachment so that it opens in a new window. When this quiz document is closed, the main document will be open.

Issue with autoplay HTML animation

Hi guys, I have some troubles with HTML animation when preview my content on adobe viewer. Maybe you know how to fix this...
My Folio contains 1 atricle with 5 pages. The first page is a static one, the second one - page with animation that should be shown when that page is displayed (autoplay). the third and fourth ones - also auto play animation, the last - static page.
Seems that next page is cached when we preview the page in adobe viewer, so when we navigate directly to the second page that contains animation - the animation on the page is partially played, so we can see only the rest of animation or just the end point of animation. Navigate to the next page - the same issue. But when we navigate from first page to the third - we can see animation from the beginning.
How this issue can be resolved?

the page is reflecting too slow, when i add the delay, so i've created a button to play animation. I use a teaching resource called Studyladder.co.nz. It uses animations for teaching programmes and activites. On my new computer, with up to date versions of Firefox and Adobe I am unable to get the animations to work. Also I am unable to print PDF files.

I have a number of pages with html extension in different files. Is it possible to merge them into one file? Is it possible to convert them into another file type such as PDF, MOBI, or EPUB? Thanks

While downloading an eBook from internet, I found a book in a folder containing around 123 files, which is equivalent to the number of pages of the book.
My interest is to bring them together in one file so that I can read it at a time. As the interface is not comfortable with html, I also like to convert it into another more suitable file format.

Problem with .PDF files from .html files at pagebreaks

I am using DW CS5. When I make a .pdf from the .html file it is not handling the images with captions correctly, or even consistently, at the bottom of the .pdf page.
Here is the Link to the .html code:

The test page repeats the same image with caption several times.
See at the bottom of page 1. There is not enough space for Image #3 so it correctly puts it at the top of page 2. However it puts the caption for Image #3 in the vertical position as if there were no page break and Image #3 were positioned just below the caption for Image #2. Here is a screenshot of the bottom of page 1:
It then places image #4 below the caption for Image #3, which results in Image #4 being on top of Image #3.
At the bottom of page 2 there is not space for Image #6 so it puts it at the top of page 3. It properly places the caption below Image #6 and properly places Image #7. Here is the bottom of page 2;
At the bottom of page 3 there is not space for all the lines of the caption, so it puts the last line of the caption for Image #8 at the top of page 4. This is o.k. Here is the bottom of page 3:
I can live with it breaking up the caption (not ideal) but not with the caption overwriting the image or images overwriting images.

Email with html body and a pdf attachment

Hi,
i try to send a email with html body and one attach in pdf
in release 4.6c using the SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1.
I've put the html in the txt table and the pdf in bin table but i obtain the following situation:
1) with only the html in the body i see a right email in html
2) with the html body AND the pdf attach i obtain a empty mail with two attach.
what can i do ? I's possible to do this.

RichText with HTML markup in PDF

I've come to the point, when I need to display rich text with html markups in output PDF.
PDF is going to be printed and I don't want anything to be editable.
I've started with xsd schema for the xdp template, where particular element looks like this:

in xdp form, I am using TextField with RichText option switched on, value type: Read Only
as a test, xml data, which I am passing into it, looks like this:

It comes from the html snippet, which is also displayed in java web application using the wicket framework, so no problem with that in web browser.
In general, it works, I am not getting any parsing errors or other exceptions from LC.
Now, my questions are:
1.hyperlink is displayed correctly in blue color and underlined, but it is not clickable ... is it because of the ReadOnly option?
2. Obviously, image is skipped. I don't expect that to be shown in textField, also there is not real path to that image, but I wonder, is it
possible to display it in some other way? Or, to be more precise, is it possible to interpret <img src... correctly in PDF?
3. I understand from some other thread in this forum, that it is not possible to paste html snippet into PDF directly?

Orientation error with HTML article

Hello,
I have a single orientation folio with 13 articles :
- 12 InDesign articles
- 1 HTML article
Each file has an _h suffixe, but I can't publish the folio because one article has a wrong orientation.
When I remove the HTML article from the folio, I can publish it. The problem comes from the HTML article.
One strange thing is the thumbail of the HTML file (see screenshots).
I'm using the latest tools available (1.11) and the latest folio panel (12.2.4) with Adobe CS5 on Mac OSX 10.7.4
Any idea ?

Yes, the HTML filename ends by _h.html
I can open the file in a browser and it works (tested in Safari, Chrome & Firefox). I can also edit it.
The HTML file is in its own folder and is alone.
On the same level of its parent folder, I have folder named HTMLResources that contains some images.
The folder is then zipped and added to the folio with the folio panel.
If I move the resources in the folder of the HTML file (and that I update the path to resources), the problem remains.

SOLVED html animation problem with v25

My Html animation return to work also in version 25.
After many modify i found the problem:
The cover preview loaded in folio builder for portrait and landscape layout was the same that i used in a Html animation (in asset folder)
I built a folio without cover preview and all work again.

Acrobat PDF with Edge Animation

Is it possible to create an interactive animation in Edge, publish it, import it into Indesign, export it as an Interavtive PDF while maintaining the animation and interactivity? If so - could someone please point me in the right direction to learn this process.

How do I convert an Adobe pdf file with sound assist for the visually impaired to use the keyboard to play audio?

I am trying to convert an Adobe pdf article file with a play button to an iTunes or other accessible file for people with visual impairments. The file has been converted to a format that has a play button; however, the computer does not have a keyboard stroke that leads to the play button. In other words, the play button isn't integrated into the accessible format; only sighted people can access the play button. The individual is using an Apple laptop.

Exporting PDF text to html

How can I export PDF text and post the exported text on a web page, to which I can then apply Google Translate? Our organization post PDF articles from our journal. (I can manually block and copy the text, so I know the text can be captured.) I want a program/app/software to run on our website that will allow a user to extract the text from the PDF and display the text as html. From there, the user can apply Google Translate. So does anyone know how I can do this? It doesn't seem like a difficult task -- I can do it manually -- but I want an app that will do it automatically.
