PDF as a Collection Media Format

What do we do with channels/collections that are in PDF format? Our Education and Outreach Office was planning to upload lesson plans in PDF format. And I noticed that PDF was not one of the Collection Media Formats, only SD video, HD video and audio.

Our site has a number of collections that contain only PDF files. When you're in the Collections>Edit>Page section, you can select "no selection". It won't effect the accessibility of the tracks in your collection.
When you select ""SD Video" or "HD Video", that information is displayed just below the "Subscribe Free" and "Get All" buttons on the Collection Page in iTunes U.

How to set media format in IMFMediaSource

I'm, trying to implement a grabber using IMFMediaSource, IMFMediaSession and IMFTopology. I built a topology including the IMFMediaSource and an IMFSampleGrabberSinkCallback. My problem is how to set the current media format. I found a function in msdn:

That function works. But only once. If I start the session and stopped it, the current format does change. All return values are fine, but format does not changes in OnProcessSample callback. Any ideas? Do I have to rebuilt complete topology? Must I stop
the session?

Once you have mastered Styles, you should be on top of this problem. You may have some specific questions on formatting along the way, and there are lots of experts here to help you.

If you have Acrobat Pro, you can save directly to Word format from within Acrobat by choosing File > Save as Other > Microsoft Word > Word Document.
(It sounds like you may be trying to use the ExportPDF online service, which is separate from Acrobat, and not necessary in your case.)

Using VB 2005 to detect whether a PDF is a collection

I'm having a bear of a time using my rudimentary programming skills (Visual Basic 2005) to write a utility that will scan a folder containing PDF files and then list which of them contains a collection (either a Package or a Portfolio).
I've been able to create the file-side piece (allow the user to select the folder, scan the folder and populate a ListBox with all PDF files in the folder).
Now I have to scan those PDFs and determine whether or not any of them are PDF Collections (I then hope to populate another ListBox with that list of files). That's where I'm confused.
I've seen a number of examples of Programming Acrobat JavaScript using VB. I've also found one reference in the PDFTron Knowledge Base that discusses figuring out whether a PDF is a Collection. He uses the following to do that:

if (collection != NULL) {
//This PDF contains a Collection
I can follow in general what this code fragment is doing but I can't seem to translate it into something useable in VB 2005.
I'm guessing that I need to somehow use GetJSObject (or maybe I'm wrong) but I can't figure out how or in what context I can get the collection information.
Additionally, I'm hoping that when my program runs through the list of PDFs looking for the collection info, I can do it without having Acrobat (or Reader) open. I don't know if this is possible (all of the samples that I've seen seem to initially open Acrobat).

Oh, I've been reading the documentation - my head is spinning from reading it for the past 2 days ! :-)
Unfortunbately, I've seen no sign of a doc.hasCollection() method.
I've found a "collection" property of the doc object in the Javascript for Acrobat API Reference.
I also found the "getDataObject" method for the doc object in the same document.
I became pretty excited when I found this one because if I click the link on that page to dataObjects, it tells me that it's an array containing all of the named data objects in a document.
If I click from there on the link to "data", it shoots me to the "data" page where I read:
"The following objects, properties and methods support PDF portfolios (also called PDF collections or PDF packages):
app.newCollection, Doc.collection, Collection object, and collectionField object".
Again, I think that I'm on the right track because it mentions the "Collection object" and "Doc.collection" but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to reference these properties in my program.
For instance:
       Dim varColl
        gPDDoc.Open("c:\adobe.pdf")
        jso = gPDDoc.GetJSObject
        varColl = jso.getdataobject.Collection()
tells me that I'm missing a required argument.
If I try something like:
       Dim varColl
        gPDDoc.Open("c:\adobe.pdf")
         jso = gPDDoc.GetJSObject
         varColl = jso.Collection()
Then I get:
"Public member 'Collection' on type '_ComObject' not found."
I'm sorry to be obtuse but I can't figure out how to reference these.
I've followed the examples in the "Programming Acrobat JavaScript Using Visual Basic" document and they all make sense. I just can't seem to get to the "Collection" information.

Print pdf files on a A4 format

Dear all,
When I want to print my pdf files on a A4 format- one page per paper, the document is printed on the half of the paper.
I encounter this problem on the Acrobat Adobe X series, hence it was not the case with previous editions of Acrobat Reader. This phenomenon occurs on several printers so this issue might be linked to the Acrobat Reader rather then to the printer.
Has someone yet encountered this phenomenon? If yes, how did you solve it?

Are the documents A4?
Have you set the Page Scaling, on or off, to your prefererence? (Page Scaling is an option from the print dialog)
Check and disable any features for Paper saving, or n-up from the printers features. (From the print dialog, the Advanced button enables features specific to the printer)

In iBooks on my ipad I have pdf docs in collections. Now with the new system, my purchased books are syncing, however, my collections are not syncing. How can I make that happen??

I have this problem too: the best work around I have found so far is to take a pdf stored on my computer, put it into dropbox, then open dropbox on my ipad, open the pdf and ask it to open in ibooks (or goodreader if I choose)
I freely admit this is a poor workaround. We don't seem to be able to locally sync pdfs or epubs that were not bought from the ibooks store (at this moment)

In our Webcenter Portal app, we create the PDF document with the content of ADF pages and check it in UCM using RIDC api.
There will some batch job which will retrieve the documents from UCM and send them to client internal Document management system. The client / batch job will only process TIFF files. So we need a way to convert the PDF into TIFF. We are okie to have both PDF and TIFF stored in UCM.
When i have done research, i could only see components like PDFexport or TIFFConverter which only converts the other formats into PDF. But i am expecting a reverse conversion. Is it possible ? Thanks

Pages ’09 v4.3 and Pages v5.2.2 are entirely different document architectures. Consequently, copying and pasting a table from Pages ’09 circumvents the customary translation process that would occur if you opened that Pages ’09 document in Pages v5.
Make a backup copy of the Pages ’09 document that has the table in it, and then open this document in Pages v5.2.2. The table is translated into Pages v5 document format and displayed correctly. You can even select this Pages v5.2.2 table, and then copy/paste it into another Pages v5.2.2 document with accurate results.

Is there any APIs or Demo about how to convert mp3,avi to the uncompressed wav format?
In windows platform, we can use DirectShow APIs. It's a component of the DirectX SDK. DirectX can help us to decompress the video or audio from compressed format to uncompressed format
(RGB for video, PCM for audio) and it supports streaming also.
Is there any familar APIs in JMF or Opensource for Mac?

Hi,
You can set the codec chain in the Processor (during configured Stage) object which allow you to define your desired Codec, Multiplexer, etc.
For more information, you can look at the JMF API Guide. Since I know that JMF doesn't come with mp3 codec, I think you have to download a codec pack called "ffmpeg" etc which add more Codec to JMF.
About the Mac, I am sorry that I really don't know.

I have a requirement where I need to convert PDF form contents to base64Binary format and call the webservice to send it to outside world.
Detail Description:
I have two buttons on my application one "DISPLAY" & another "SEND". If user clicks on 'DISPLAY' then PDF form will be opened and printed. If user clicks "SEND" button then PDF form contents should be converted to base64Binary format and proxy class will be called to send to PI server. Please let me know any function modules or codes for converting PDF form contents to base64Binary format.

You can try one of the functions in function group SCMS_CONV (or search for others in SE37). My standard process uses older code which still works with SX_TABLE_LINE_WIDTH_CHANGE, then SO_SOLITAB_TO_SOLIXTAB, then
* Convert to XSTRING format
LOOP AT gt_pdf_255x INTO gs_pdf_255x.
ASSIGN gs_pdf_255x TO <fs_line> CASTING TYPE x.
CONCATENATE e_pdfout <fs_line> INTO e_pdfout IN BYTE MODE.
ENDLOOP.
