PDF attachment sign and save problem

I've used digital signatures for quite a while without problem. Recently, I've noticed that when trying to digitally sign a PDF attachment from Outlook 2003 or 2010 using Adobe Acrobat Standard 7, I get an error when clicking Sign and Save. The Sign and Save As button works fine
Error is:
The document could not be signed.
There was an error when attempting to commit this signature. The document was not saved.
The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder.
Any help is greatly appreciated! TIA!

I will try that, thank you.

  • Unable to digitally sign and save a PDF document

I am currently using ADOBE ACROBAT 8.0 Professional (Ver 8.1.0).  I provide proofreading service for a client.  The client provides me with a PDF which I use the comment and mark up tool to indicate required changes.  Once all of the comments are complete, I mark the document approved or disapproved and attach a digital signature.
Recently, many files that I have recieved from the client will not allow me to sign and save the PDF.  I can save the PDF without the signature but not when it is digitally signed.  The error reads:
"The document could not be saved.   A number is out of range"
I queried my client to find out if they have made any changes.  They have recently upgraded to Illustrator 4 and they create the PDF's for me from the Illustrator files they work from.  There are four teams using the same Illustrator program but not all of them are producing files that I cannot sign and save.
Can anyone tell me what the error indicates?  Is there a property assigned to the document that I can not recognize that refers to this problem.
Since the files I work on contain proprietary information, I prefer not to attach them to this forum.  If anyone is interested in helping, I will share a file to fully explain my problem.

I will try that, thank you.

  • 'Sign and Save As' in Acrobat 8.1.2 Professional

    Hello!
I realize this is not a critical error or anything, but it is a major nuisance to the tech-unsavy and easily frustrated in my office.
When signing a document with a Digital Signature in Acrobat 7.0, you had the option to "Sign and Save" which would allow you to do so with one click. In Acrobat 8.0, that option has been replaced with "Sign and Save As" which gives you no choice but to browse to the folder you want to save the file. It automatically opens to the right folder, but you then have to click again to confirm that you want to overwrite the existing file.
Since our files are always in the same folder and always replace the one preceding it, this is completely unnecessary and I inevitably get a call from someone in the office who freezes when confronted with a scary dialogue box asking for input.
So my questions is: is there a setting to revert back to "Sign and Save"? Or is this an option in a more recent version of Acrobat?
Thank you in advance for any help.
    Best,
    Perry

Unfortunately, it looks like the "sign and save as" behavior is the only one available in Acrobat 8 and 9. I believe this was because many people were confused about where the signed document ended up or wanted to preserve the original pre-signature document and didn't realize they were going to overwrite it.
I don't see any setting related to this in the Security Administration Guide at www.adobe.com/go/acrobat_security

  • Let Users Annotate A PDF In Browser And Save To Server?

    I started this discussion here.
I have a bunch of PDF documents.  I want users to be able to make annotations in their browser, and save them back to my server.
If I use Acrobat X Pro and click on "Send For Shared Review", then it behaves the way I want.  However, I don't want to have to manually open Acrobat every time for each file.
Unfortunately, the Acrobat X SDK doesn't support this feature.
I heard that there's another way to do this with FDF files and LiveCycle.  Is that right?  How do I do that?
What I want is very simple.  I want to write a program that will:
    - Take a pdf file from my server.
    - Enable the users to make annotations in their browser, as if I used "Send For Shared Review"
    - Save the annotations back to my server.
    - Merge the annotations into a new PDF document.
I can do this with Acrobat via the GUI.  I want to write a program that does if for me.  Can I do this with LiveCycle?

    Thanks for the reply.
I know that having them both is not only unsupported, but has been a huge pain in the rump. However, This team needs Acrobat, and corporate policy as of yet hasn't been edited to allow the removal of Reader.
While it's been a pain for other issues, The users have been running both for around 12 months now, and the save button has always worked. Suddenly yesterday afternoon (after it had been working in the morning) the save is grayed out. There must be some configuration issue that has caused this...
I'm near the point of having acrobat uninstalled/reinstalled, and the reg entry we found to get them both working re-applied, but that's kind of a worst case option at the moment.

  • PSE10 Photobook print and save problem

    Hey all
I have had some major problems with creating Photobooks on PSE10.
The problem is that I have is that it is not saving the PSE file correctly.
My last project (kids school prject) was complete (8 pages) and looked good with a title page.
I tried to print a few test pages and noticed that it printed the title page and page 2, skipping page 1.
After saving and exiting the program, I re-opened the file and the title page was gone and all of the other pages had a screwed up template that was twice as wide the template.  The problem was compouneded by a lack of flexiblity in the printing area.  Anything I tried did not work..ARRRRGGGG... Advanced mode was not too much help.
I finally saved it as a PDF, opened it Acrobat and was able to print.  The project is still screwed up, but I was able to print it.
It would be great if Adobe allowed more flexiblity with the "page settings and size" for the canvas.
Templates are good, but more flexiblity is needed.
PSE10 should allow saving or exporting of a Photo Book to individual PSD files.
I am using a Win7 system, and a Canon iP6000 printer.  The Photo Book template that I was using was "Storyteller".
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
There aren't any specific steps or settings for saving or printing a document.
To save it just single click on the agreement under the Manage page, and click the "PDF" button towards the top of the page. This will open the document in your default PDF viewing application where you can save it to your local system.
Once it is saved, I would try printing it from there. Having it saved to your system may make a difference.
Unfortunately, printing issues are difficult to troubleshoot since it deals with your local hardware and your local system.
    Thanks,
    Jat

  • PDF attachment opens wrong file

I have had a few problems now when emailing a PDF attachment.
I save a document as a PDF and then email it to a client however
when the client opens the attachment, it opens a previous
attachment that I sent them i.e. I send them an invoice dated
15/09/08 however when they open the attachment, the invoice is for
one that I sent months ago dated 12/02/08. I usually save the PDF
attachment as the same file name each month hence overiding the
previous saved file so I'm not sure why it would open as an old
file. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

  • Video grab and save using labview

    Dear All
I am trying to grab and save a video from ni smart camera (NI 1744). I
am using Grab and save vi which is attached. I open a new project in
labview 10. To this project I add the smart camera as a RT target and
then add the attached grab and save vi under the smart camera in the
project. I right click the smart camera and select " Deploy all".
Deployment starts but it terminates displaying the following error
    message:
" LabVIEW:  Failed to load shared library
nivissvc.*:LV_AviMovieOpen:C. Ensure that the library is present on
the RT target. Use MAX to install NI software or FTP to transfer
custom libraries to the RT target.
    Deployment completed with errors  "
Kindly note that I am able to grab a video using  MAX (Measurement and
Automation) without any problem. I have also re installed IMAQ RT,
Vision RT, IMAQdx RT and Labview RT on the smart camera several times
but that has not solved the problem. I shall be really grateful if
anyone can provide any guidance regarding how to carry out successful
deployment of the attached vi or if anyone can suggest an alternative
way of grabbing and saving a video from NI smart Camera (NI 1744).
System Specifications: Toshiba Satellite Laptop, Windows 7 home
    premium. Labview 10.

Grab and Save to AVI IMAQdx 8_6.vi ‏54 KB

AVI is still not supported for the 1744, which uses a VxWorks Operating System (as compared with the newer series of smart cameras the 177x which use pharlap OS and support the new AVI functions).
Attached is a sample LV project and code to illustrate how to acquire images on your smart camera and write those to a network image variable. I also made a host side VI to read the image variable where you can use your AVI function to save to your local host machine images acquired from the smart camera.
    Hopes thishelps,
    Brad

  • Signing and saving a document in Acrobat 8.0

We would like to bypass the sign and save As dialog which appears when
    1. Sign a document
    2. click on Sign
Is there any way we could acheive this

We have written a plugin. We do not wish to interfere with the Signing process. All we want is that the original document should be saved with the signature instead of displaying the Save As dialog.
In Acrobat 7.0, there were 2 buttons on the Sig Dialog viz. "Sign And Save" and "Sign And Save As". Sign And Save would save the signature in the same document. However in Acrobat 8, there is only one button "Sign" and this button displays the Save As dialog. The behavior is similar to Sign And Save As in Acrobat 7.

I am creating a fillable form with Digital signature approval.  I want to have the approval sign the document and it automatically saves as a unique name so it can then be emailed to the next approver.  Help - I am not a programmer!

  • How to sign a pdf file and save it directly back to sharepoint site?

    Hello,
I own a Sharepoint site for testing. It is installed in my computer with Sharepoint 2010 (WSS). What I want to do is to find a way to achieve a signing function for pdf file type on sharepoint.
By refer to this site below, the site has been able to recognize pdf file type and open it and edit it directly on the sharepoint site.
    http://www.portalsolutions.net/Blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40
I can edit the pdf file by checking out and then the modification will be save directly back to the pdf file in the shared document library when I am done. Now the problem is, I cannot save the pdf directly back to sharepoint after I inserted a digital signature
    to the pdf file.
Everytime I inserted a digital signature to the pdf file, a "save as..." window would pop up and asked me to save the signed pdf file as another file in my local computer, so the changes were not applied to the original pdf file on the shared document library
of my sharepoint site. I have to upload the local signed version back to the site and replace the old one manually.
    Any suggestion? Thank you.

    Hi,
According to my analysis, for Digital Signatures: Adobe has changed the behavior around digital signatures and SharePoint-hosted PDF files. Now, when digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file, it will be saved directly to SharePoint if that PDF file
is already checked out. If not, the user will be prompted to check it out. When digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file in Acrobat X, Version 10.0, the user would be prompted to save that file locally and would then need to upload it separately to SharePoint
    as a new version.
I suggest that you use Acrobat X, then check the result. For more information about Acrobat X, please refer to
    http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/2011/06/whats-new-in-acrobat-x-version-10-1.html
In addition, you can also consider the following third-party tool:
