PDF attachment upside down?

Hi
This one has me a little perplexed. I receive a pdf attachment in email and when I opened it, the document is upside down. LOL.
What's the deal? First time I have ever seen that.
Thanks
Rich

Most likely the way the designer wrote the PDF - likely in his document settings he rotated the file 180 deg. You can easily fix this in the file, go to Document menu and select rotate pages. Click all pages and enter. This is in Acrobat 7. In Acro 6 - Document/pages/rotate.

  • Pdf printing upside down

Whenever I try to create a pdf of one sheet of a larger pdf, everything works fine if I use "current page". But if I zoom in and try to print "current view" to fit to 8 1/2 x 11, the resulting pdf is upside down (rotated 180 degrees). I am using the trial of Acrobat Pro. Any idea what would cause this? I verified through the windows printer settings and all settings from inside Acrobat that the page is set up to "Landscape" and NOT "Rotated Landscape".
UPDATE: I have traced it to the option which says "Choose paper source by PDF page size". If I have this checked, everything is always correct. If I uncheck this and print either the current page (to the AdobePDF printer) or a zoomed in view, it may be correct or it may be upside down or it may be rotated 90 degrees. By the way, using the free Foxit Reader PDF printer always prints to the correct orientation.
Any help would be appreciated since I cannot justify the cost of this software if it cannot print as consistant as a free alternative.

  • InDesign CS3-Placed PDF is upside-down

    Hey All.
    Strange problem...
When I place a PDF into ID3 the pdf appears upside-down. This does not happen with all PDF's and will happen with a problem pdf until the pdf has been recreated.
I'm guessing there is a preference setting somewhere that has been modified that is causing this to happen when certain parameters are included in a pdf.
I have gone back to default settings for ID3 and the problem does not occur. So I'm assuming that it is a change we have made to a preference. I can't for the life of me figure out which one it is though.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like the default frame setting is rotated.

  • PDF Document Opens Upside Down in Acrobat 8.2.6

I have a PDF document that always opens upside down. After I have opened it I will correct the orientation and then re-save it but when I open it again, it is upside down. I would appreciate suggestions. I am using Acrobat Standard 8.2.6.
    Thanks for your help

You are only rotating the view, not the page. You need to rotate the page (control-shift-R).

  • Word 2010 table rendered reduced, upside down and backwards on conversion to pdf

We have a Word 2010 document that includes a table, header and footer and a title paragraph with a border.
When we convert this to pdf using Word's Acrobat -> Create PDF function, we get this (converting via Print -> Adobe PDF works fine however).
Here is the above at 400% magnification.
I thought I had seen all the curveballs Word 2010 and Adobe Pro X could throw but this is a new one on me. If anyone can tell me how or why the body of this document is reduced to illegibility, positioned at the top left corner of the page, upside down and backwards on pdf conversion I would be forever in their debt. (I have a couple of "accessibility experts" telling me this du to "odd code" and I would very much like to confirm that neither of them could find their own bottom with both hands.)

I am assuming you did this with the Create PDF button. Give the print to the Adobe PDF printer a try and see if you get the same thing. You could also try the MS PDF plugin. MS has done some strange things in OFFICE 2007 and 2010 that cause heartburn for PDF creation. How much is an Acrobat issue, I am not sure -- probably a bit of an issue from both companies.

  • Upside down pdf file. Rotated and save but still upsided.  How to solve this problem?

I received a pdf file that is upside down. Rotated and saved.  When I open the file, it is still upsided.  How to solve this problem?

    Hi,
I think you are rotating the PDFs from View and rotate. it would only change the current View of the PDF.
Kindly click on Tools on the right hand side > Pages > Rotate. then save the PDF.
Let me know if it helps.

  • Vertical text in charts appears upside-down in Acrobat pdf

When I copy a chart with vertical text from Tableau into Word and then Save as Adobe PDF, the vertical text appears upside-down.
When I copy a chart with vertical text from Tableau into Word and then Save as PDF using Word's built in PDF creator, the vertical text appears correctly.
This bug occurs in both Adobe Acrobat 11 and Acrobat Pro DC. Can Adobe fix this bug?

Never mind. I solved the problem myself. It turns out I needed to embed the font I used in the text boxes. Once I did that, everything shows up fine.

  • Upside down pdf

I am uising image capture to create a 2 page pdf file. No matter how I put the originals in the document feeder or set the orientation button, it comes out upside down. I only have Adobe reader so I can't turn it around and save it.
I am going to scan each page to a jpg, put them in MS word and export a pdf file. But I should not have to go through all this. Any ideas?

Strange issue,  one work around is to open them Preview and rotate them, which is extremely simple to do.

  • Scanned pdf - touch up text tool - upside down text

Have a few pdfs created with Acrobat, scanned with a Canon 7080.
When opening the pdfs and using the Touch Up text tool to add text, the text is upside down.
    The pdf is oriented correctly.
It does the same on a few other machines so it seems to be something specific the documents.
Most other pdf files are fine.
I have printed to pdf and it fixes the problem (added text is right side up) but I'd like to know how it got messed up to begin with.
    Any ideas?
    TIA

Sounds like you used the searchable text form of OCR. Thus the text is hidden and that is what is happening. To see the text, you would want to use the ClearScan form of OCR. At this point I don't have any good suggestions. A lot depends on what you are trying to do. In any case, trying to do major editing to a PDF with the text touchup tool is not recommended. Not the name of the tool is touchup, not retype. The method you are using will not make any change to the appearance, only to the hidden text.

perhaps there's an orientation parameter in the new API or they changed the defaults? I'm not sure, you could always rotate it 180 degrees manually.

  • How include upside-down clone in 2-up publication?

My project involves two 5.5 X 8.5 books that can print simultaneously on one stack of 8.5 X 11 paper.
To complicate things, one of the books has to be rotated -- so that the book on the right side of the page(s) is in the normal up position, with its spine facing left, but--
the book on the left side of the page(s) is upside down, with its spine facing to the right.
I have attached a sample in pdf format so you can see what I mean.
I need this unusual orientation because after printing on 8.5 X 11 PERFORATED paper the books will be separated and the perfed edge of each book must be at its spine.
I have been able to get what I need three ways.
First I make an indd publication for the outer book
Then I make an indd publication for the inner book
    Then I --
    1.  place one indd file into the other, a page at a time, or
    2.  convert one of them into a pdf and place that, a page at a time, or
    3.  go through one of them and copy each column, paste it, then rotate it 180 degrees
Every method that works seems to require working one page at a time.
No, I don't want to print one set of the right-side book and then reverse the pages and run it through the printer again. That would be like cheating. We Adobe users are better than that, are we not?
I have tried, using layers and otherwise, to get both versions of the book into one indd file, with separate text flow links -- but it never comes out right.
Usually, when I try to flow the second book it jumps over the first book, then adds pages to the end to fill in its "side" of the document.
Other than working one page at a time, I have not found any way to combine the two books into one indd file that has both rightside up and upside down books in place.
I could use some help -- soon! -- to manage this problem.
    Thanks.

Scott Zanelli has updated the script, adding a few new bells & whistles, including the ability to import .indd files directly.
InDesignSecrets » Blog Archive » Zanelli Releases MultiPageImporter for Importing both PDF and INDD Files
If using CS4 I think you might be able to lay out the book at trim size, then import it into a new 8.5x11 document using the script, rotate the spread view (not available in earlier versions of ID) and run the script a second time to get the rotated half.

  • Can no longer open email PDF attachment in iBooks

Just discovered can no longer open on iPad mini any email attachment PDF file in iBooks.  Cannot tap attachment and select open in iBooks. PDF attachment opens itself automatically on the body of the email. Is this a PDF problem or iPad problem or iBooks problem.

It's not a problem with either app. Just hold down on the open PDF to bring up the "open in" window. If hold down on the open PDF and select "Quick Look" , that will give you the full screen file and you will see the share icon in the upper right corner.

  • Is there a fix to upside down text from EMF images

The text from an EMF image is being flipped upside down during the conversion from word to PDF when using the acrobat add-in.  I hope you can see from the images.  However, when using the acrobat print drivers, the text from the EMF converts just fine.  Unfortunately, you can't use the auto create bookmarks feature this way.  What is causing the text from EMF files to be flipped upside down?  Is this a bug?  Has this been reported yet?

That is really strange. It appears you are using OFFICE 2007 or 2010. There are some issues with MS, but this one is weird. Check that you are using the same job settings for both cases. You are using high-quality-print for PDF Maker. It might be worth checking the print with the same job settings. I am not proposing a solution, but some trouble shooting to be done. Also, please indicate the versions of WORD and Acrobat that you are using.
If you have a way to try a different vector format other than EMF, that might give you some idea of where the problem lies.

  • I work for a retailer who sends out e-receipts as pdf attachements.  When the email arrives on any apple product, i see the email with the paperclip icon showing that there is an attachment but i cannot ever see or find the actual attachment.  Any ideas?

i work for a retailer who sends out e-receipts as pdf attachements.  When the email arrives on any apple product, i see the email with the paperclip icon showing that there is an attachment but i cannot ever see or find the actual attachment.  Any ideas?

i have scrolled left, right, up and down on iphone4, iphone5 and ipad and the attachment simply does not exist.  It has to be something with the apple mail client setup because for any mail client, if they go to the webemail thru safari, the attachment is there and it can be viewed without issue.
I know there are plenty of people out there with this issue with the mail clients set up that you access thru the email icon on the iphone and ipad but i cannot find anyone with a resolution.  I cannot find any settings in the mail client setup that has anything to do with attachments or for what attachments can or cannot be read or seen.
Hopefully someone out there has figured something out because this is an odd one.
