PDF attachments opening in mail messages

Hello when I send a pdf file as an attachment in a mail message, the file opens. I'd like to send the file as an icon/attachment and not display the contents of the file. How do I do this. Thank you very much.

I thought I did:
But just to be sure, I propagated permissions to all enclosed, but that did not seem to change anything.
Maybe this is one of those "just because".

  • Why do PDF attachments open in Mail

When I add a PDF as an attachment in Mail  it opens the first page and the other pages do not show.
This only happens after installing Maverick OS10.9. I had previously used Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and this was never a problem.
Do I have to reset something in Mail ?

If you tap and hold the the PDF that renders in your email - you will get the pop up.  Just tap the middle of the PDF and hold your finger there until the pop-up comes up.

  • Opening Large PDF attachments in e-mail?

m trying to open large PDF attachments from e-mail (10-30mb) and either ipad says it can't open them "too large to read" or acts as though it will open but then doesn't open.  Any tips on how to make this work?

I can open a 100mb pdf with iBooks.
Try a reset; Hold the Powerbutton and the Homebutton pressed at the same time untill the Apple logo turns up on your screen.

  • Some pdf attachments missing in mail 5.2

I fail to receive pdf attachments intermittently using Mail 5.2 running OS X 10.7.3 (Lion).  When the attachments do not arrive, I see no paperclip in the attachments column.  On a recent occasion, a colleague sent me three consecutive emails, each with 1-2 pdf files attached.  The middle one (containing one pdf), shows no attachment in Mail.  However, I know the attachment is there, because if I open it on my iPhone, I see the attachment.  What's more, if I forward the email to myself from the iPhone, I can now see the attachment again.  This has happened several times in the past as well.  Any ideas?

I have the same problem, failing to receive pdf attachments intermittently using Mail 5.2 running OS X 10.7.3 (Lion), and not being counted among the attachments
Two times where I'm aware it happened, the sender had replied and included the attachments I had sent in my original message, and I'm wondering if those attachments somehow led to their own attachments not displaying and not even being counted in the e-mail window.  "3 Attachments, 317 KB" displayed, but those were my three; clicking the "Save" drop-down menu listed only those 3 attachments of mine.  In one case, I had them resend their attachments as a new e-mail, and that worked.  Their 2 attachments totalled 941 KB, so Mail missed rather a lot by displaying just 317 KB.

  • How to open multiple mail messages in their own windows

    All:
Anyone know of a keyboard command to open several Mail messages in their own windows? For example, I can't highlight all messages in the Inbox and then double click one of them to open them all in separate windows.
Surprisingly, Mail lacks an Open... command.
    TIA,
    Mike
      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Just select multiple messages and hit Return.

  • My E-mail takes for ever to load and some times freezes to open e-mail messages

Ever since I changed to Firefox, it takes for ever to download my email. When I click to open e-mail messages, it freezes up and have to refresh or reload. Does not happen all the time but most frequently I am having a problem. All other features with Firefox are faster than Internet Explorer.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access web mail, you need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Thunderbird, see this forum for support. <br />

  • Pdf attachments to windows mail won't open correctly

pdf attachments to emails won't open. I'm using Vista Ultimate 64. The attachments want to open in system 32, and error message says to "set associations." Set asociations is already set to reader 9.1 (which I just updated to 9.2 in an attempt to get it to work). It shouldn't make a difference whether the document was created on a 32 bit or 64 bit computer. I tried saving the attachment but something converted it to a .doc format. When I tried to open it I got pages full of code (in WordPad) not a formatted page.  Current documents saved in pdf open as they should as long as I open them from the document file. I don't know whether it is windows, windows mail or some other program that is responsible for this. Documents downloaded from websites work fine. Has anyone else encountered the same problem? How do you fix it?

  • UNABLE TO OPEN PDF ATTACHMENTS IN E-MAIL

Over the past week,I have been unable to open PDF attachments in my AOL webmail.  I encounter no problems with my Outlook Express e-mail.  Why is this suddenly happening and how can I correct the problem?

To make sure that Adobe Reader is default,
goto Edit->Preferences->Select default PDF Handler. Check the value in the dropdown list "Select Adobe product". If the first value which appears is 'Adobe ReaderX', then Reader X is the default PDF Handler.
Also please let me know the OS you are using.
Is the problem also faced in AOL webmail with any other Adobe Product(like Acrobat X, Reader 9 etc.) if you are using/used any of them?
    Thanks,
    Shakti

  • How do I open multiple Mail messages at once?

I can select multiple Mail messages, but how do I get all of them to open at once? (I actually do want all of them open; I'm not just trying to mark them as Read.) If I double-click on the multiple selection, the first click un-selects all but one message, which the second click opens. I assumed there'd be an Open in the Edit menu, or a Command-O, or an Open button for the Tool Bar, or an Open on a right-click menu or other special menu, but I can't see any of those. The closest I've come so far is Forward, which quotes them all in one reply, but that isn't really what I want. What am I missing?

just make it is not junk mail

  • Opening new Mail message in the main window

    Hello,
When I get a new mail message notification banner in the right top corner of the screen and click on it, this message is opened in a popup window. I want it to be opened in the main window, like it does when you click on a message if you are already in the Mail app.
Is this possible? I can't find any option to change this in System Preferences or Mail settings.
    Thanks!

If the Mail app is frozen then have you tried closing the app via the iPad's multitasking bar and seeing if it works properly when you re-open Mail ?
iOS 7 : double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the Mail app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
iOS 6 and below : from the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • TS3899 unable  to open my mail messages

How do open your mail and view the entire message?

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • Pdf attachments open in body of e-mail

Using my mac mail program, when I click (on the paper clip) to attach a PDF - instead of an icon, it opens up in the body of the e-mail. Please advise. Thanks, Iza

It might make a difference whether the document "kind" is PDF Document or Adobe PDF Document. Because Mac OS X distinguishes files by more than just the extension, two files that end in .pdf may look different to applications.
Download those attachments, do a Get Info for both in Finder, and see if they are different based on Kind. See if that is related to them opening in the email body and not opening.
