Pdf back to pages

How can I turn a Pages document that I converted to a PDF back to a Pages document so that I can edit it? I unfortunately can't find the original document. Thanks.

I've used PDF to Word+ & then opened the .doc file in Pages. There are many others, sometimes free, listed on AppShopper.com. Here is the result of a search I did.

THE use of the apple support is a mess also.
I want to be able to use my MAC fully and easily like I used to with Snow Leopard.
What is wrong with this maverick OS?

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

  • Reverting back to PAGES after exporting as PDF

I created a document in PAGES and exported it as a PDF. I found errors and need to put it back into PAGES to make it editable.  Is this possible?  If not should I find the original PAGES document in my TIME MACHINE?

There are apps available on the Mac App Store that say they can convert PDFs to Pages. Here is the result of a search I did on AppShopper.com. There are fewer listed in a search on MacUpdate.com, but most of them do allow you to download a demo.
I've used PDF to Word on several occasions with good results. I had gotten at a discount some time back. I see that the same developer has a program that can convert PDFs to multiple formats. You can download a demo from their website.

Try to open the right-click context menu of the Back button and see if you can go back further.
The current active entry in that list has a bullet in front of it.
If you hover an entry in that session history list then it shows the direction by adding an arrow at the left.
You can left click an item to open it in the current tab or middle-click or Ctrl left-click an entry in that list to open that link in new tab, just like you can with other links.

  • On my iMac running OS 10.6.8 (but not on my Macbook Air running Lion) the "go back one page" button retains a maximum of 5 prior websites. Is there any way to avoid that 5-page limit?

On both computers, I'm running FF 7.0.1, but the problem has been with me on my iMac ever since FF 5. Both computers have the same add-ons, and as far as I can tell all settings are the same as well. • How to create a  PDF document with page curls using Adobe  CS 4?

My  goal is to create a  PDF document with page curls. I am using Adobe  CS 4.
    1.      The document was created in Adobe InDesign  CS 4  where the page  turn (curl) transition  was applied.
    2.      Then the document was exported to .swf.
    3.     The .swf file was imported into   Adobe Acrobat Pro  to create a PDF file with  flip page or page curl transitions.
    These are the problems.
    1.      The background is not  transparent.
    2.      Page dimensions have to be increased at least an inch in width and length so that the full page can show
    3.      The command and+   will not only increases the document's  screen size. It increases the page margins.

PDF was never designed to support the Flash page curl effect (it didn't exist back then). Anything you try (and you've tried the standard hack) will look like a hack. Personally, I don't think the effort is worth it for an effect that's much overused.

  • When I use find, Firefox does not let me complete typing the word. Keystrokes effect the page as opposed to the find box (ex. backspace goes back a page instead of a character in the box). How do I fix this?

When I type in the Find box, Firefox interrupts me before I complete typing the word (usually in the first 4 letters. "Focus" moves from the Find entry box to the page itself. If I type backspace Firefox goes back one page of browsing, not one character in the box. I disabled Searchmenu, but that did not help.

I hadn't restarted after disabling SearchMenu. Having restarted, it would appear that the problem was, in fact, SearchMenu. Which was my suspicion. Once Find highlights a "word" SearchMenu interrupts to offer its services. I guess I'll post on their board, to see if there's a solution.
I should have restarted before posting. My apologies. Rookie move.

  • How to split a parallell-page PDF into single-page PDF

My situation: I have a few hundred pages of files I made quite a few years ago, optimized for "self-publishing" via the printer. I no longer have any source files (my own bad). These files have 2 pages next to each other in an A4 landscape PDF. I would like to change and combine these files into a US Letter portrait PDF.
I have browsed earlier, similar threads, most notably the most referred to thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3331516
which recommends using Adobe PDF printer. However, as this thread points out, and as I for one have found on my own system (10.8.3), Adobe PDF printer is no longer an option on Mac OS X (version 10.6 and on):
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/556366
So the question then is: How do we now split double-page landscape PDFs into single-page portrait PDFs?

Since at least OSX.5 adobe has removed PDF Printer which was begining to fail it was written in Adobe's altered version of javascript and it was a wonder it was working to begin with They replaced it with an Automator action that's called up through the print Driver.
Here are the steps for applications other than Acrobat.
create you doucument. laying it out the way you want it.
    Go to Print menu.
click and hold the pdf button - a context menu pops up.
now scan the list of choices and choose Adobe PDF or Adobe Quality PDF (depends on version of OS)
wait for direction fields to come up and make the desired choices (the first screen is basically job options).
when asked ask for name either ecept name give or choose name of your choice.
Browse to desired location for file
    then click save.
How the PDF is layed out in acrobat is determinedby acrobat. Adobe add an additional Layer on top of the Print Driver. You can by pass it and use the Print Driver but if there is an orientation switch in your docment the page is turned so everything comes out with same edge of Paper
Oh, look out for a Grand idea Adobe did that even Forest Gump would have left alone.
If you want to do duplex printing to a PDF with more than one page you won't be able to do so whether you have your printer setup for duplex printing. You can go back and forth from printer setting s to Printer setting toggling off and on til you turn blue in the face. You have to go into the document properties and loo for a command called SIMPLEX printing its on by default and needs to be turned off. Even my cat Boots would be smart enough not to put that in.
This settinging does not permanently turn off and you have to do with each document you create or resave.

  • Can't open same pdf to different page...

I am creating a pdf document that contains hyperlinks to open other pdf files to specific pages by adding #page=pagenumber to the end of the url.  The problem arises when I've opened a pdf with one link, then click a link to the same pdf, but with a different page number specified.  Because that pdf is already open, it will not re-open and go to the second page.  It just sits there on the first page opened in that pdf and does nothing.
I have found ond kludgey work around - adding additional forward slashes in one of the the urls will fool the system into thinking the urls are different and the same pdf can be opened to different pages one after the other, no problem.  I'm hoping someone has a more elegent solution.  Thanks for any advice you can give.

I tried named destinations as you suggested, but didn't work.  Thanks for the suggestion, though.  I may have found a partial fix.  I'm creating my pdf in InDesign CS5 and, on a hunch, I tried setting two button actions: Go To Next View before Go To Url.  For some reason, when I export the document to a pdf, the links will now work as I wanted.  I'm not sure why this works since, from what I read, Go To Next View should only do something if you've gone to a previous view, giving it somewhere to return to.  I'll take it, though.
To answer your first question, the reason I want to link one pdf to multiple pages in a second pdf is that we have many large pdfs containing our company's procedures - yes, they're so large that putting them all in one file is not practical.  So, when I need to refer readers to something in another pdf, I want to have them click a link or button and the second pdf will open in a new window to the page I specified.  One link on one page might take them to the Glossary clear at the back of the other pdf, and another link might take them to the Introduction at the start of the pdf.  I'm amazed from my searching that there isn't more about this issue online.  I have found a few people who experienced the same thing, but none of them have ever solved it.  It's not just limited to buttons in pdfs, either - creating links in an HTML document has the same problem of not being able to open the same document to two different pages successively using two links.

  • Create PDF from Web page using Acrobat X - Page Order

I have a structured web site that is in fact Program Help The web pages are structured as follows:
index.html - Main Topic Index page with links to all topic subject index pages
topic/index.html - Topic Subject Index Page with links to all subject pages
    topic/subject.html - Subject page
    .....etc
Using Acrobat 5 "Create PDF from Web Page" created a perfect logical PDF  page structure in the page order of of the web site. In Acrobat 5 page 1  was the Main Topic Index Page, page 2 was the 1st Topic Subject Index  Page, page 3 was the 1st Subject Page, then the 2nd subject of the 1st  Topic, etc. until the Topic Subjects were exhausted after which the 2nd  Topic Subject Index Page and so it went on. As a result the bookmark  structure was sensible. The page order was as follows:
    Main Topic Contents
    Topic 1 Contents
    Subject 1 of Topic 1
    Subject 2 of Topic 1
    Topic N Contents
    Subject 1 of Topic N
    Subject 2 of Topic N
Acrobat X (just purchased) produces a differently structured PDF from the same HTML pages. The order is:
    Main Topic Contents
    Topic 1 Contents
    Topic 2 Contents
    Topic N Contents
Main Topic Contents (a second time)
    Subject 1 of Topic 1
    Subject 2 of Topic 1
    Subject N of Topic 1
    Subject 1 of Topic 2
    Subject 2 of Topic 2
    Subject N of Topic N
Question: Is there any way I can get back with Acrobat X the same page order I got with Acrobat 5?
Any help appreciated. The website is www.caliach.com/caliach/vision/help/index.html
    Chris

Acrobat is using the underlying mark up of the rendered HTML page.
This may or may not provide an adequate input to Acrobat when it is noodling out how and what to tag.
I suspect you may find that, to obtain an adequately tagged PDF, you may have to capture the web page content with the create bookmarks and create tags options off.
Once you have the PDF make working copies.
Try letting Acrobat tag this already created PDF to see what happens.
You may have to manually tag the PDF.
n.b., The default read order for western language can be altered by user selections in the accesibility setup or by selection in the PDF page(s) Page Properties.

  • Printing a PDF back to back

    Hi
    I have this weird problem.
I am trying to print this 2 page pdf back to back, however I am unable to do so. All my office printers are set by default to do back to back printing. My other word and txt documents all get printed back to back except this pdf. I have checked the settings in my printer as well and they look fine. I know that this is a printer setup and not a setup in any document, but I was jus wondering if there is some setting that needs to be done in the pdf to make it print back to back.
    Suggesstions please!
    Thanks,
    D.

  • Saving as a PDF in print page order [not actual page order]?!?!

    Hiya,
I've got a 20 page newsletter, each page A4, all created in InDesign CS3 [nice and simple]. I want to print the document in print page order [as appose to actual page order] on our printer here at work, because it's clever and can fold and staple to create a book/newsletter etc! In InDesign, I can obviously use the 'print booklet' option to do just this, and it works great; all my pages are printed in the correct order, I can also choose to print 2-sided, all lovely. But I was wondering if there is an option somewhere to be able to save my InDesign doc as a PDF in print page order [front with back, page 2 with 19 etc] - as printing a PDF of my artwork seems to solve a problem i was having in the thread I posted up yesterday.
    Cheers guys

This is called "imposition". Does your OS and InDesign version come with the "Print as Booklet" option?
If not, you can enter this range into the page number "Range" box on exporting:
    20,1,2,19,18,3,4,17,16,5,6,15,14,7,8,13,12,9-11
(Typed from memory; -- please check)
If I then print this PDF to my HP with the options "double sided" and "2 pages per sheet", it comes out exactly the way it should.
(Waiting for the printer ... hold on.)
Well whaddoyouknow -- I got the numbering right first time. Perfect!

  • File, create PDF, from web page, entire site...questions

I am new to adobe, is this the proper forum for Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro for macintosh?  I think yes...
Created a PDF from:  File, create PDF, from web page, entire site.
Is there a way to print this without the background color?  If you printed from a browser, you could choose not to print the back ground color.  I know exactly the color.
Is there a way to make this PDF look like the web, with no page breakes?  I have tried various things, but the page breaks are always displayed.
Is there a way to create bookmarks on somthing other than the title tag in the web site?  The title tag is an SEO 1 sentence summary of the page, which makes for very long book mark names.
    Thanks for your help.

I don't use v9, but what I would do is click the FILE--PRINT option, print to PDF, and enter to print one page (default is first page)

  • Is it possible to create a tagged pdf with apple pages?

Not sure if possible and any tutorials would be appreciated.

    > Is it possible to create a tagged PDF with Apple Pages?
Short answer: No, Apple chose at the introduction of Mac OS X to support only Adobe PDF 1.3 and those parts of Adobe PDF 1.4 that include device-independent transparency, but not those parts of Adobe PDF 1.4 that include Adobe XMP for XML markup of the page description program.
Long answer: Adobe PostScript is a page description programming language, unlike Xerox Interpress which is a page and document description programming language. In other words, Adobe PostScript is a streaming or sequential rendering model that cannot simulate the behaviour of a bound book where the user can turn from any one page to any other page arbitrarily. Adobe introduced Acrobat Distiller in 1993 in order to convert Adobe PostScript page description programs into Adobe PDF page and document description programs that share the same fundamental functionality as Xerox Interpress.
Conversion from Adobe PostScript to Adobe PDF buys one nothing but page-independent processing. Specifications published by Adobe in 1993 state how the SFNT Spline Font file format used by Apple and Microsoft for Unicode imaging has to be re-encoded into PostScript font program dictionary format (PostScript so-called simple fonts with less than 256 glyphs and PostScript so-called complex fonts (CID fonts) which are simple fonts tiled into a single superfont). All that is left is the glyph identifiers, and per Unicode Specification version 1.0 the glyph identifiers are private and font-dependent, so no character information can be inferred.
ISO 19005:2005 PDF/A is a superset of ISO 15930:2002 PDF/X-3. The problem with ISO 15930:2002 PDF/X-3 is the same as above, that is, Adobe PostScript cannot encode the file format of the International Color Consortium, which has to be re-encoded to PostScript CSA Color Space Arrays and PostScript CRD Color Rendering Dictionaries. It is possible to encode the ICC file format directly in PDF 1.3 and higher, as specified in ISO 15930 and ISO 19005, but because PDF encodes only the glyph identifiers that are the output of the SFNT file format, and not the UCS Universal Character Set input and the settings for the feature selectors in the font file, ISO 19005:2005 has come under criticism for failing to support search in complex scripts.
ISO 19005:2011 is supposed to address the shortcomings by saving the UCS input into the PDF itself, but in this case it is impossible to use Adobe PostScript and Adobe Acrobat Distiller as intermediates to Adobe PDF. So in order to drive ISO 19005:2011 Adobe would have to ditch Adobe Acrobat. I am not sure if there is software that implements ISO 19005:2011, but I noted that the Apple iBook Store does not accept PDF at all. Personally, I struggle to think of how to explain to endusers the overwhelming number of Adobe ISO PDF formats (there is PDF/E, PDF/UA and whatever else), and the overwhelming number of Adobe ISO PDF versions of these formats (there is ISO 19005:2005, ISO 19005:2011, ISO 15930 all the way back to 1999/2000 in God knows how many versions at this point).

  • Having button take you back to page where you came from

I am trying to create a mockup of cover letter (page 1)

The cover letter page (1) contains no interactive material.
On page two (Quick menu), my mockup has one button for

    which is page 2.
    Make sense?
    Can you help!
    Thanks

Using go to a page view you'd "file-open" the desired PDF then navigate to the desired page followed by setting the desired page magnification. Then you'd continue through the process click-path to completion.
"External page" (the external PDF / 2nd PDF file) now has a link annotation with an action that will open "Master" (the original / first  PDF file) to page 2 of "Master" with the desired (set) page magnification.

Hi, I have FCE 4 at the moment and looking to get FCP shortly. But I have some footage that I'd really like to get digitized now while waiting for FCP. Can I digitize in FCE and then import into FCP? Thanks
