PDF background is black

In the past day or so, when I have opened up a PDF file, the white background is showing up black. Obviousy the black type blends in with it and it's impossible to read. Is there a way to "fix" this problem?

Is this issue confined to a single machine? IOW, does the document open OK on any other machine?

Acrobat 9 will print text as if white and all the background as black.
    OS is Windows 7 32bit.
Most occurences are when trying to print scanned pdf's contained in emails.
Any suggestions on how to fix or settings to try?

Following up to see if anyone has some solid ideas on how this might be happening.

  • PDF Background Transparency and Color

I have several PDF pages that are vector black line-drawings that have been placed into a document as a gallery, which works great.
However, when you click on the PDF to view it in isolation, the background turns black and the drawing is hardly visable.
I am able to convert the PDF's to a raster format, but would like to know if there is a way to change the background color when viewing an image in isolation.
    Thank you in advance,

I just realized that converting the PDF's to a raster format is not a preferable option, as the sepia background of the picture frame fill is preferred.
Can the background of the image isolation mode be changed (to match the sepia background of the picture frame fill)?

  • In iTunes, my printing is white and the background is black, How do I change it back to white printing on a black background.

In my iTunes store, the printing is white and the background is black and I have forgotten how to change it back to black printing on a white background? I know that it is a simple answer, but right now I cannot think of it.
Also, what is the "other" when you are syncing an ipad in itunes and in my case the other is more than half of my 64Gb. How do I find out what it is and then get rid of it if I want to?
    Thanks

    Hi gramie47,
Sorry to hear that didn't resolve the issue.
I checked online for issues printing from the Internet, found a couple of things you can try. Most likely it is a setting that needs to be changed in the browser settings, since the printer prints fine from the computer.
From Internet Explorer, go to File, Page setup, Remove check from "Printer background color and images" if checked, or vise versa, to see if that helps.

my screen.Contrary to what you might think, the linebIG2.setBackground(Color.white);does not give the buffered image a white background. The API docs
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/awt/Graphics2D.html#setBackground(java.awt.Color)
say: "Setting the background color in the Graphics2D context only
affects the subsequent clearRect calls... " So adding a line to your

        bIG2.setBackground(Color.white);
        bIG2.clearRect(0, 0, buIm.getWidth(), buIm.getHeight());

}Changing the false to true results in a white background (and black

  • ITunes 11 has black background with black text

I had previously set iTunes to use the dark grid theme. Now I've upgraded to itunes 11 but i'm stuck with cases where I have a black background and black text with no preferences option to fix it. (the same problem I had with the previous itunes version, even when i tried selecting a different theme it wouldn't change)
    examples include the downloads window
And views like album view that the text changes color based on the album art, and the background is supposed to too but mine doesn't, so sometimes the icons/text will be unreadable. Like the close, play, shuffle, etc buttons in the screen shot below.
I have tried retinstalling iTunes several times between 10.6 and 11 to fix various bugs but it's never worked properly.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Very Big thank you All of you for your help !!! It's been an hour that I didn't know what to do to see which songs to chooses because of the grey typo on black background !!! Merci
defaults write com.apple.iTunes high-contrast-mode-enable -bool FALSE
Enfin sauvée après une heure de galère à chercher partout comment changer la skin de itunes 11 alors que c'était en fait un bug d'affichage !!!

  • How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)

How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)??? creative cloud cs6... Acrobat etc

Hi, just wanted to add my 2¢
I've been in publishing over 25 years and live in Acrobat for making my final files. Currently with a newspaper.
    This is what we do:
    • Tool Panes > Print Production Window
    • Select CONVERT COLORS
    • Midway down under OUTPUT INTENT, check Convert Colors to Output Intent
    • In the associated drop down menu, I choose (because I'm printing on newsprint) DOT GAIN 20% – If you're working on better stock, choose a lower dot gain percentage.
    • Click OK – this will convert the file
    • Save
Note: this affects the file you're working with. Make sure that you use this method on a COPY if you want to retain the original color version.
I think if you compare my method to the Preflight method, you'll see a tighter contrast and better blacks. I've always felt the Preflight method left continuous tones a little muddy.
Now if there was only a way to add that to ACTIONS...!

  • Viewing PDF in preview, black rectangles around links

I've created a PDF in Microsoft Word 7.0, the PDF looks great in all applications except Preview on a mac. It would seem that all links in the PDF have a black rectangle around them, this only seems to be an issue in Preview, is this a known issue? As near as I can tell, no other applications seem to be interpreting these links as having boxes around them, this would lead me to believe that the problem does not lay with how the PDF was created.

    Hi,
Can you try any other PDF file in Preview (not the one you created)

safari 5.1.7 pdf documents are blacked out.

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • How to change entire background to black in Elements 11?

I have a photo of a red rose - I'm trying to change the entire background to black - how?

Thanks so much for your quick reply - I've printed off your instructions, I'll give it a shot later today.  Elem 11 is quite a step up from Elem 5 for me - I think I'm in for somewhat of a learning curve.  Thanks again!! Glen...

  • Probably stupid question - Windows background in black

This is probably a stupid question for longtime Mac users... I'm trying to adjust to this OS... I recently 'upgraded' to a MacBookPro from a PC, and have been very happy with my decision so far. However, when using windows I ran themes that displayed windows backgrounds in black with a lighter font for text, which is my preference. How do I do this with Leopard? I couldn't find any options or info on Apple site using Search.

Well, I use Arial for just about everything. You can set that in Safari/Prefrences, or, if say you are using Text Edit, you can press Command + T and that will prompt the Mac FontBook and you can view all the fonts available and just go through them until you see one that best fits your needs.
    Since you are new to Mac there is something to be aware of. Do not change any "system fonts" as it can cause utter mayhem. There's an alert box you can set up to avoid any mishaps;
*If you change fonts used by Mac OS X
If you try to change or remove fonts used to display onscreen text on your computer, an alert message will appear. You should not change system fonts unless you’re experienced with fonts and know how the change will affect your system.
You can turn off system font alerts in Font Book preferences.
To turn off system font alerts:
Open Font Book and choose Font Book > Preferences.
Deselect the checkbox labeled “Alert me if system fonts change.”

Upgraded to Mavericks now iTunes screen is a negative. Background is black and titles etc. are white. How do I reverse it?

    Hello Tarpon471,
It sounds like your desktop is otherwise colored normally, but the colors in iTunes are inverted. I was thinking it is possible that a 3rd party plugin may be causing an issue with iTunes since the upgrade to Mavericks.

  • How to design a "white" background in "black and white" ad on pink newsprint?

Long-time Indesigner here, but I have never had this dilemma before. Am designing a "black and white" newpaper ad for a major paper that has a pink section, i.e. it prints on pink newsprint. So I know this is black ink only, hence the "black and white"...but when the "white of regular newsprint is pink, I am getting stumped. I see in their rate card ads with a white background and black ink on top of the pink newsprint, which is what I want to do. The ad has facial tones of a major recording artist, and I do not want the highlights of her face going pink. So how to I ad a "white" layer underneath this ad? Deadline is now, so please reply ASAP. I have inquiries into the paper but it is the weekend and nobody is getting back to me.

Have they got a rate card: Check it! It may list a "white knockout advert" rate. I think:
that to overprint adverts onto pink is limiting i think its a separation (unless they only want/cater for 1 colour (black) ads) unlike yellow pages where the the standard directory colours are blue, green, red and black (err... obv because of the yellow paper...) yellow pages also offer white knockout adverts (then yellow available) and CMYK adverts.
So: you got to make sure that the advert is designed per spec: as you may know designing for newsprint is a lot more technical than gloss mags/sheet fed etc. You can always see in a newspaper who (designer) got it wrong.
All the info should be on the rate card: just check the CI too: as white knockout may be a lot more expensive.
