PDF conversion from Open Office

Hi everyone. I have a dilemma. I've tried to convert my Open Office document into a PDF--not for printing, but as an attachment. I've tried it from the Export PDF icon on top of document and from the File menu. It keeps coming up in code, losing formatting and such. Then I get the PDF Options box that asks me for range, images, general. I know I put it for all or submit PDF format. Then there's invitial view for panes, magnification, page layout, and so on. Then it when I export it, it asks me on the ASCII filters for character set, default fonts, language and paragraph break. Every time I've tried it, it comes up in code. What do I select? P.S. An agent wants to read the first 100 pages of my ms in a partial ASAP!

Are you running OpenOffice or NeoOffice?
http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php
I am running NeoOffice 3.0 Patch 0
file > export as pdf...
bunch of options panel appears. Took all defaults.
where to save panel appears. Saved to desktop. worked for me.
One & five page files.
could print off document & mail.

These are the "out of the box" file formats that you can view on the iPad as mail attachments. If the file is not listed here, you cannot view it without a compatible third party app. What is the file extension?

  • Creating PDF Files from Microsoft Office | Learn Acrobat X | Adobe TV

This video explains how to create PDF files from Microsoft Office products including Office 2010 in Acrobat X Std. or Pro.

I have used Print to PDF from the File Menu in Office many times. Normally it works fine, but for whatever reason, in MS Excel 2010, I have one file that will not Print.
It allows me to select the Adobe Printer and save location, and when I hit "Print" it shows a dialog box for about 1/2 a second, but no progress meter, and the file isn't created. All other files work fine except this one - there aren't any security measures or special attributes in the file, it just doesn't physically create the PDF.
Any thoughts on how to resolve? I have tried rebooting both Excel as well as the Laptop several times.

  • Control of PDF conversion from CIS application?

    Hi,
Presently we are able to check-in a file from our java application and the Stellent automatically converts the submitted file into PDF. Now the client wants to have control on the PDF conversion. When the user submits a file from the java application, it should not get converted as and when he submits. we need to provide a button by clicking on the button the pdf conversion should start. My questions are:
    1) Can we have control on the conversion?
    2) Can we stop Stellent not to convert the file on check-in?
    3) Using the document id can we convert the native file to pdf?
    Please let us know...
if there is any documentation available please guide me.

The new (10g) IBR is SOA enabled, so you can call services to convert documents on the fly, including documents not stored in content server. There are also sample components delivered with IBR that provide insight around the conversion process. The short answer is you can do about anything you like now. The answer you didn't want to get here is that it may be more complicated than a forum post can explain. Start by exploring the various services and the example components and come back with more questions.
As for CIS, I'm not sure how that fits against the new IBR architecture, sorry.

  • Using Oracle "Import PDF" Extension in Open Office Draw to Edit pdf Files

I am a fairly new Mac user with OS X 10.6. For several months, I have been trying to find something which would edit pdf files better than Preview does (for example, the content of a text box in Preview can only be "center aligned"). Skim and FormulatePro were two options I tried that were improvements over Preview in many respects, but wouldn't let me paste an image onto my pdf (such as, for example, if I wanted to put my digital signature on a document).
Then, I "discovered" the Oracle PDF Import Extension which I had installed in Open Office months ago, but hadn't really used. By "discovered," I mean I read on somebody's blog that you could use Open Office Draw to edit pdf files and I thought, "Hey, I wonder if that would work with my setup." (Boy, do I feel stupid.)
I have just started using this functionality, but in just an hour or so of playing around, I have found that it has far exceeded my expectations and, even, my immediate needs. Besides giving you (a) all the control over text and text boxes that you would expect from, say, a word processing program and (b) allowing you to paste images onto your pdf, Open Office Draw also includes layers!
The layer function threw me off for a bit, because, at first, I kept finding that my attempts to edit the document resulted in grabbing the raster image and moving it "off" of the underlying text layer (a function, I will admit, that I think will be worth exploiting someday, but wasn't what I was looking for at the moment). Then, I discovered that you can "lock" the layer so as to prevent this annoying occurrence. To create your edits, simply create a new layer (call it "MyEdits" or whatever you want) and you're in business.
Anybody who has done anything more than drawn a couple of lines and boxes on a page has discovered that editing the overlapping objects can be a real pain - if not an outright impossibility. Separating these overlapping objects through the use of different layers solves the problem.
The only downside to the use of Open Office Draw as a pdf editing tool that I can see is that you must import the pdf, save your edits in odg format, and then export it to pdf when you're done. I know that we would all like to have the capability of doing everything I just described directly to the native document, but, hey, for all the functionality I have been searching the internet for weeks to find, I think it's a reasonable trade off.

    Try turning off protected mode.

  • PDF conversion from Word - WMF display

I have created a PDF from a word document. It has WMFs inserted in the document using BuildBetter WMF.  The document displays correctly in word.  I have used the preset of "high quality" on the PDF conversion.  The document print quality is correct but I am having difficulty seeing the WMF drawing when displayed on the computer.  If I zoom in I can see the drawing fine.  Obviously it is a pixel problem.  How can I fix this?

You should be able to print to the Adobe PDF printer, but nothing else probably will work with OFFICE 2010 as Adobe told you. You probably can just wait until AA10. There are no current expectations of AA9 being updated to work with OFFICE 2010 (at least the PDF Maker part.).

  • Missing document from Open Office

I am trying to find a PDF exported from an Open Office file that I deleted.
    It is showing as this:
    users/macowner/Library/.../partydonation.pdf
but I cannot find it on my computer. Please help!

I am presuming command click means "hold command" and then "click"---it just tries to open in Open Office which can not open PDFs. I feel so stupid---normally I save things on the desktop and then move them manually (I do know how to save things using the save as option) I was in a hurry and was careless this go around. How can get it to display what folder it is? I am worried if I go through every folder within the library I will still not find it!
I tried find first thing with the exact name of the file---not comming up!

  • When I download .pdf files from my office they are converted to .ashx files

When I download a .pdf file from my Outlook mail box at my office, Firefox reads it as an .ashx file. However if I use Safari, it is read correctly as a .pdf file.
How can I fix my Firefox browser?
An IT person at my office said I should reset the download actions by deleting mime.Types.rdf, but I can't even find this file.

  • Locking a pdf file from opening

    Hello,
I searched the posts first but didn't see this question asked.  Is there a way to prevent a pdf file from being opened if that file is already opened by another person?  It doesn't have to be done via Adobe iteself, although that would be easiest.  We don't want to use passwords since a password would allow the pdf to be opened by anyone who knows the password.
    Thanks for any help,
    Chuck

    Hi,
    Something to try.
Use the search string "DRM for PDF" in the search engine of you choice.
The query return provides a phletora of possibilities.
Which provider is best for you will be a function of your specific needs and budget.
    Be well...

  • Dynamic Conversion for Open Office

    Hi,
the dynamic conversion is working fine with my microsoft office documents.
Is there something special I have to do, if I want to use dynamic conversion with my open office documents.
    Thanks
    Bodhy

I think you have to add the particular mime type or document type to the list for dynamic converter. There is a similar issue with Word 2007 format. When you configure dynamic converter there is a drop down of formats it will convert. In that list is something like application/msword, but nothing for Word 2007. So you have to manually put in the box something like this:
    application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document
Sorry, but at this time I don't know what they would be for open office...though I thought the two were compatible...does open office = openxml? I've just not tried any of this with open office explicitly. Let me know what you find out!

  • Pdf conversion from a non unicode system to a unicode system

    Hi,
I have a BSP application that runs on a unicode system which retrieves data to be output in pdf from a non unicode sap system.
We get the data from the non unicode system through a RFC call and store data in table otfdata type itcoo, then we perform the conversion through the following:
    perform pdfcnv_convertotf in program saplstxw
    tables otfdata
    pdf
    using
    'T'
    archive_index
    1
    'T'
    pdf_bytecount
    app_tot_xstring
and then perform the hex conversion, but the printout is full of # chars. The good characters are followed by the # char. It looks like the unicode conversion is not good.
Thank you in advance for your help.

  • How do I stop PDF's from Opening inside Safari

Several versions back of Safari, I found out how to make PDF's download to the downloads folder or other preferred location (desktop for me) instead of opening inside a Safari window. As I recall, it actually had something to do with a setting in Adobe Reader. With the advent of Safari 7.0, I am now back to the "open inside Safari" behavior. I have searched these discussions, been through all of Reader's and Safari's settings and haven't been able to come up with the solution. Can someone lead me down the correct path?  TIA

    Hi,
This may happen if the PDF is opened inside the browser by the PDF plugin.
In '''Tools''' ( or '''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Applications''' look for or type PDF in the search box and for the '''Action''' on the right change it to '''Save File''' or click '''Use other...''' and browse to the PDF main exe and select.

  • I cannot print from firefox. I can print from open office. It seems to have something to do with when frames open because in IE, I can print a whole page, but when I try to use a print button embeded in a page or frame it does not work.

Cannot print from firefox at all.
In Internet Explorer, I was able to print by pushing the print button, but when opening a frame, like in mapquest, the embedded print button brings up an options window that has print frames options in it, but when hit OK in this box, a second error box comes up with a yellow exclamation point and nothing prints. I have a feeling that it is the same problem with both browsers, but would prefer using firefox. Can you help with this?

Yes, I tried that.   The files were ordered by their original numbers as imported from the camera, but I batched them through Phocoshop to downsize all of them into a more manageable file size.   I opened that destination folder from quick time  from where it said select image sequence.   I clicked on the first one and opened it.   The result was a large image with an arrow indicating a movie was ready to go.   When I pressed the arrow, though, I realized it had only imported that one frame so there was no movie.   The files are Jpgs and are about 450 KB each.
To your knowledge are there any links to iMovie tutorials or quick time tutorials that may address this situation?  Maybe there will be one I haven't looked at yet.
        Thanks

  • PDF conversion from Word 2010 incredibly slow and loses format

Just moved onto new laptop with Windows 7 Word 2010
and downloaded Acrobat 9 Pro trial.  Have used Acrobat 8 with Word 2007 and earlier versions with no problems. Now taking half an hour to convert a document and cutting out margins.  Just today I was talking with Adobe tech help and was advised Acrobat 9 is compatible with Word 10.  Any suggestions?

You should be able to print to the Adobe PDF printer, but nothing else probably will work with OFFICE 2010 as Adobe told you. You probably can just wait until AA10. There are no current expectations of AA9 being updated to work with OFFICE 2010 (at least the PDF Maker part.).
