Pdf convertion fail?

When converting PDF to Word for editing, half the document looks like code.
What am I doing wrong?
Please help. thanks.

Sometimes the conversion is like that. It all depends on how the PDF was created in the first place as to how well the conversion to WORD is done. There are two options, one retains the text flow and the other the layout. Have you tried both? Is your PDF tagged (one of the things to look for to obtain a good conversion).

  • Adobe PDF Converter fails to create PDF

    Hi,
This is my first post here. I've searched the forums but have failed to find any posts describing my specific problem.
I am trying to print to PDF using the "Adobe PDF Converter" device, but whenever I try to do so I am presented with a window labeled "Creating Adobe PDF" with a pull-down menu labeled "Document Name" that is entirely empty and a Hide button. Also the window states:
    PDF Name: Untitled.pdf
    PDF Folder: C:\Users\Name\Desktop
If I click the pull-down menu it rolls down with about five empty lines. Now, regardless whether I press the hide button or not, there is no PDF output created in the PDF folder.
This happens regardless of which application I am printing from, e.g. Notepad, Chrome, etc.
This is how I get to the "Creating Adobe PDF" dialog: Ctrl-p -> Choose "Adobe PDF Converter" in the print dialog, then click print -> then choose an output filename in the "Save PDF file as" dialog -> "Creating Adobe PDF" dialog appears.
I have Adobe Design Premium CS3 installed on a Windows 7 32-bit machine.
I have tried reinstalling the "Adobe PDF Converter" printer device, but that didn't help.
Any advice how to fix this would be much appreciated. Thanks
    Andreas

It would appear you are using a different converter, not sure. The one that comes with Acrobat will appear in the printer list as the "Adobe PDF" printer. When you select to print to the Adobe PDF printer, you should get a Save As menu. Then it would proceed. However, I believe that CS3 comes with AA8 and that is likely the problem. To be successful at all, you will need to be sure to update Acrobat to the most current version of AA8 and then it may work. Adobe does not support AA8 on a Win 7 platform and only would recommend an upgrade.
    That is some thoughts.

  • Acrobat Pro XI V11.0.2 - Word 2010 to PDF conversion fails to generate header text

    Hello,
Following the recent update to V11.0.2, the Acrobat PDF converter for Word 2010 fails to generate the output document correctly. It misses out the text box part of the Word header.
However, using Acrobat XI via the "Print to PDF printer" appears to generate the output file correctly.
System is Windows XP-SP3 with Office 2010 (and all current updates), plus Acrobat Pro V11.0.2
Example Word source and resulting PDF are available, if anyone can figure out how to use this web interface to post examples.
    Colin Butcher.

    Hello,
No, there is no change in behaviour on my Windows XP machines, nor would I expect there to be given that there has been no change until V11.0.3 was released.
Given that you’ve reproduced the problem, albeit on a different machine, it seems reasonable to assume that the problem is related to Acrobat. If you can reproduce the behaviour, then you should be able to fix it.
The problem still exists with V11.0.3. I look forward to it being resolved shortly.
    Colin.

  • How to install IDC PDF Converter?

    Good day!
I want to convert some video via Oracle WebCenter Content Server, Inbound Refinery Server and Telestream FlipFactory.
When I start check-in and conversation, it gives to me file with "GenWWW" status. I saw Inbound Refinery Server - there are I have an error stack:
+"The 'OutsideIn Technology' conversion is unavailable because the ActiveX control failed to register. System error: Access is denied.+
+The required printer 'IDC PDF Converter' is not installed. Queue monitoring will be turned off.+
+Conversion queues not being monitored and will not be processed."+
In Oracle Docs (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23549_01/doc.1111/e10800/c03_pdfi_all.htm 3.3.3.3) I saw next solution of this error:
if "The IDC PDF Converter printer is not installed." - "Install the IDC PDF Converter printer."
I found a pdf converter installation manual (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10316_01/refinery/refinery_doc_10/documentation/addons/install_admin_pdfc_10en.pdf). It tell me:
+"If you are installing on Windows and want to use third-party applications or Outside In X to create PDF files, you must also install the PDFConverter component (PDFConverter.zip). This enables the Convert to PDF using thirdparty applications and Convert to PDF using Outside In options."+
    But I haven't got a PDFConverter.zip file. Where can I take it?
    thanks a lot

    Hi Michael
Which version of UCM are you using? I know that when I had this issue in a 10gR3 environment, I had to log onto the server that hosted the IBR process (using the credentials that run the IBR process), and add a printer - any printer. There was an issue where IBR needed some printer drivers to complete. Not sure how you would do this in a 11g environment as IBR is hosted on a managed server.
    Hope this helps.

I'm trying to export an 100 page magazine, just a small proof right now and I've done this a million times. There are no errors, all my links are good but still it will not save.

    Hi marthah,
I'd love to help, but need a little more information to go on. Are you converting from or to PDF, and where is this error occurring (in Acrobat, InDesign, or somewhere else)? What operating system/browser are you using?
    Thanks,

  • How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which makes a PDF of a web page interactive, to work in Firefox 4.0.1?

I just installed (on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) operating system/Intel i5 CPU M560 2.67 GHz) and am now using as my default browser Firefox 4.0.1 because Internet Explorer 9 was giving me so much trouble--lack of display of web content, lack of PDF reproduction when web content displayed, screwball formatting display, etc., all of which has been remedied by the mere installation of Firefox 4.0.1.
How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which converts a web page to an interactive PDF, to set up and work on Firefox 4.0.1?

You can not do that using Adobe Acrobat 9. Adobe never made a create PDF add-on for Firefox for use with Adobe Acrobat 9. They created a Firefox add-on for use with Acrobat X, but currently that one does not work with Firefox 4 though Adobe are working on an update.

  • I have Nuance PDF Converter 7.2 and after I scan a document and want to email it, I get an error message that says the scan cannot be attached to an email.

I want to be clear: I can scan the document with Nuance PDF Converter 7.2, but after the scan, I want to email the scan to someone.
When I click on the word "email" on the left side of the Nuance screen, I get a failure message. For a couple of years this process worked without a problem. I was told by Nuance Support that the problem was in the email software. Is there something on a drop
down menu that I can click on the resolve the problem? Thanks.

The problem could be that your computer doesn't have Thunderbird identified as the default e-mail program, so the first step is:
Thunderbird: Menu bar: Tools: Options: Advanced Tab: System Integration:
    Press the "Check Now..." button.
In the resulting "System Integration" window, make sure that "E-Mail" is check-marked, and "Always perform this check when starting Thunderbird" is checked. Then click the "Set as Default" button.
If you have Windows 8 or 8.1, then there is also another step:<br>
Windows Control Panel: Programs: Default Programs: Set your default programs.<br>
Find "Thunderbird" on the left side, and click to select it.<br>
On the right side, click "Set this program as default".<br>
    Then reboot the computer.<br>
If the problem still exists, then do a clean install of Thunderbird:
Certain Thunderbird problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Thunderbird's program files and then reinstall Thunderbird. Please follow these steps:
#Download the latest version of Thunderbird from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download is complete, close all Thunderbird windows (Click Exit/Quit from the menu button on the right).
#Delete the Thunderbird installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #** C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\
    #** C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Thunderbird from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Thunderbird with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Thunderbird on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ Thunderbird Download Page], simply remove the folder ''thunderbird'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Thunderbird:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to open Thunderbird after clicking the Finish button.
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Thunderbird's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Thunderbird data, including but not limited to, extensions, emails, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • Why does the Adobe Acrobat X Web to PDF converter icon not show up?

I installed Adobe Acrobat X yesterday on this work computer, but the Web to PDF converter icon has not yet shown up. I have the icons, and they are functional, in the Mozilla Firefox on my home computer.

    hi WDWPhishFan,
Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?
The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Hyperlinks not working properly in PDF, converted by Nuance PDF converter

I have encountered a problem with the pdf files which were converted by the Nuance PDF converter(v8.1).
When reviewing a pdf file in Adobe Reader X(v10.1.0) the hyperlinks are not working properly in the "fit to window width and enable scrolling" mode.
The second one, "fit one full page to window", is working without problems. In this mode all links can be used.
Attached is a screenshot about the two modes in Adobe Reader X.
This issue is just happening, if the file is converted by Nuance PDF converter.
Well, Nuance support was not helpful at all.
    Regards

just the "alias hyperlinks"(don't know the specific name) are not working.
if I write down www.hp.com it's just fine.
    i've uploaded documents..
one is created with nuance pdf converter and the other with MS Office Word "save as pdf" function.
    http://www.filedropper.com/linktestdocumentnuanceconverted
    http://www.filedropper.com/linktestdocumentofficesafeas
so it seems like that nuance is not supporting "alias hyperlinks"..

  • When will get 64-bit PDF converter for 64-bit Firefox variants (Cyberfox, Waterfox, etc.)

I use 64-bit Firefox variants (Cyberfox, Waterfox, etc.), and am frustrated that the PDF Converter addin with Acrobat Pro X and XI does not yet work with them.  I understand that a 64-bit DLL is needed for the add-in to work.  Inasmuch as the PDF converter works with 64-bit IE-9 and IE-10 and Office2007/2010, I am at a loss to understand why a 64-bit PDF converter add-in for Firefox 64-bit variants is not available.  WHEN?
    Thank you.

Someday. This is a question asked multiple times but the answer is always the same, there is no real benefit to moving to 64 bit Firefox, and the amount of work required to do something with no benefit makes this a low priority. Eventually it will happen, but just because it uses 64bit doesn't magically make things better.

  • PDF Converter for Acrobat Pro 8 problem in windows 7 (64)

    Hi,
I just recently upgraded to Windows 7 - 64 bit and I am getting the following error message when I try to print to the Adobe PDF printer:
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: setdistillerparams; ErrorInfo: CalCMYKProfile U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
Error accessing color profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
I am using Adobe Acrobat 8 professional version 8.1.4 that came with CS3 Design Premium and have installed all current updates. Regardless of the chosen program (Word, Excel, Photoshop) when I attempt to print to the Adobe PDF printer, the print job stops at about 10% completion with the above error message.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Kyle

Thanks everyone for the helpful hints.
In the end I unstalled and then re-installed the entire Adobe Premium CS3 in Windows 7 (64 bit). The big difference was loading the adobepdf.dll_64 file at the proper point during the installation process.
Adobe has published a full explanation of this issue at the following URL:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401731.html
Once installed, it's also important to update Acrobat 8 to the latest revision to get the PDF Converter working again.
    Thanks again,
    Kyle
