PDF Distiller Error
I have been trying to help my co-worker fix the below distiller error unsuccessfully for the past day. When printing a pdf with tags and bookmarks, the pdf file gives an error in NotePad and the pdf fails to print. I've searched some forums and have found other people with similar issues, but no answer as to how to fix this.
The really strange part is that I can print the pdf just fine from my computer, but my co-worker cannot print the same book file to pdf without the error. I would just print the file for her, but there are several similar ones to print and they all produce the same error in the same spot.
I'm guessing there must be some setting that is different on my computer from hers, although I can't find anything set different in FrameMaker.
If anyone has any suggestions or knows how to fix, that would be awesome!
Here is the error message that comes up in NotePad:

As Sheila suggests, this specific problem was encountered with the initial release of FrameMaker 8.0 (FM8.0p236) and fixed in FM8.0p266.
To apply the patch, select Help > Updates from within FrameMaker. Latest version of FrameMaker 8.0 is FM8.0p277.

Can't create PDFs - Distiller Errors
I'm running a Mac Dual Intel with 10.5.8 and CS3. I had a problem the other day when opening a PDF file which resulted in being unable to boot up completely. To resolve the problem I initially tried to reinstall the OS while saving users & network, which didn't work. I was then able to create a new user and get going. Everything is working except creating PDFs.
If I try to print to a pdf it just spools, sits for a few seconds and then stops. If I print a .ps file and try to distill it, I get the following error message:

I have used the original CDs to uninstall & reinstall Acrobat 8 with no luck. I still get the same message. Any ideas?I haven't moved up to OSX 10.5 yet, but I was wondering if you can do what I do in 10.4
In the Print Dialog window in the bottom left is a PDF button. Click on that and you have the option "Save PDF as Postscript". And then drop your postscript file onto Distiller. -

Does anyone have an idea ?
Thanks a lot.Hi,
The D810 requires Camera Raw 8.6 or later - the latest version that is compatible with Photoshop Elements 12 is Camera Raw 8.5 as far as I can see.
You need to either buy a new version of Photoshop Elements or use the free Adobe DNG converter.

Acrobat 7.0 Distiller error
I have the complete Adobe Creative Suite Premium package, and I recently have started having issues converting Documents or Spreadsheets to PDF. When I click on "Convert to Adobe PDF", after the PDF window opens, I get a Distiller error message, followed by a pop-up with the option to send an error message to Microsoft, or not to.
The Error Message reads:
Acrobat Distiller
Event Type: InPageError P1: c000009c P2: 00000003
When I clcik on the 'details' tab, it points to the following 2 files:
\\WER047e.dir00\acrodist.exe.mdmp
\\WER047e.dir00\appcompat.txt
I have completely removed Creative Suite and reinstalled it,to no avail. I have also tried to remove and reinstall only Acrobat 7.0, with no luck. I have installed Acrobat 7.0 on another PC to see if it would work, and it did.
I am at a loss as to whether this is an error in Acrobat, Distiller or on my PC, and I do not know what steps to take to repair it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DaveDo you happen to be using VISTA?

How am I meant to correct my Framemaker files to solve this Acrobat Distiller error?
When I attempt to generate a PDF from Framemaker 9 using Distiller 8.1 I get the following error:
%%[ Error: ioerror; OffendingCommand: imageDistiller; ErrorInfo: DCTDecodeFilter Second SOI or SOFn JPEG marker is disallowed ]%%
Stack:

No PDF is created. I've tried 'save as' and 'print'. I have created a PDF from this document several times before with no issues. I haven't replaced any of the screenshots in this version. Where can I find the graphic that is causing the problem? How can I solve this?
Thanks,
Niall.1. To turn "off" the graphics, simply use the esc v v shortcut (this is a toggle on/off) at the book level (no need to remove anything).
2. Render in Error's context means, then run it again with no graphics visible (but it's obvious from the Distiller error messages that the problem is in a JPEG that can't be properly interpreted).
3. To isolate the page containing the errant graphic, a binary search apporach means do one half at a time, i.e. the first half of the book abd then the second half, to see where the error occurs. Then split the offending half section into two-halves again and re-create the PDF until you've narrowed down to the page with the error-prone file.
However, you indicate that you're able to create the PDFs properly when printing wthout Generate Acrobat Data enabled. What is you default printer instance and which joboptions are specified? -

I wildly guess about why, and have simply Ctrl-P again to print to Adobe PDF, and maybe half the time it works, without any changing, for example, the Photoshop image that I want converted to PDF. Sometimes, superstitiously, I reduce the res/file size and it goes through, but not always. The diagnostic tells me next to nothing, although I was a programmer for 20 years. There seems to be an Acrobat component named "Distiller," and "readstring" is failing for some reason that only one of the product programmers, or someone with similar knowledge, can understand, and the programmer does not tell me the user what to do about it.
What is the cause of the "ioerror"
The product I am using is Acrobat 6.I do not know anything about Distiller, which I presume is a component of Acrobat 6 Professional. I would know nothing about "opening a file in Distiller." The ioerror occurs when I try to print, via ordinary means, a JPG file while in Photoshop to the printer listed as "Adobe PDF." Usually this works perfectly. When it does fail with the error log inserted into my original post, I just ctrl P again, and about half the time this works. When it does not, I make the totally uninformed guess that the JPG file may be too big, so I resize it smaller. Sometimes it then gets converted to PDF correctly, but sometimes it fails with the same "readstring" error message log. The success and failures appear haphazard, but as a former professional programmer I know that there are deterministic reasons, even if nobody ever discovers them. Debugging programs is very hard work.
Perhaps someone can suggest a means of forwarding the error message to someone in Adobe programming, who already knows what the error message should mean to me, the user. -
I'm getting distiller error after installing CC
I recently installed the Adobe Creative Cloud. I still have CS6 on my computer. I noticed after the CC installation, I started receiving distiller errors when opening IE9
I think I may have fixed my problem... I am no longer seeing the Distiller stopped working pop up and I am now able to print to PDF
Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit
My Fonts and program are all installed on the same drive thus preventing me from gaining access to Distiller to change the settings. Windows would not let me make any changes to the Default Font folder.
This is what I did...
Not knowing which font(s) where causing the problem, I moved all but protected fonts (automatically labelled) from the Window's Font folder and placed them in a temporary folder.
I restarted Distiller DC and great news...the program did not crash and I was able to change the settings to temporarily not include the Windows Fonts .No more pop ups and I can now print to PDF!
What I am going to do..
Through the process of elimination, I will gradually restore the fonts I removed from from the Window's folder to find the culprits(s)
Once I am satisfied that the problem Font(s) are found and no longer included in the Window's Font folder, I will change the settings in Distiller back (permanently) to include the Window's Font folder.
In closing, and because so many others are having the same issues, I really do think it would be prudent for Adobe to make the necessary adjustments to their program(s) to prevent this kind of issue.
Thanks

Good Morning,
We're having issues parsing several hundred PDF files located in two separate Record Center sites. All other PDF documents in the environment are being crawled and parsed without issue. I've verified the permissions for the Search service account, but that
doesn't seem to be the issue. Searching for this particular error hasn't returned much, but I have ensured that the Search service account has been added to the necessary Local Security Policy objects and cleared the configuration cache. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Curious if anyone knows of a way to increase the parser server memory in SharePoint 2013 search?

'failed to open the PDF file' error - Indesign CS3 on Mac
Hi,
Whenever I place PDFs that were created by any other app besides indesign or Illustrator I get a 'failed to open the PDF file' error, previously these PDFs were fine to place but all of a sudden they're not... Help?
I'm not too keen on opening in Illustrator and resaving for the rest of the foreseeable future either...

I want to change the "Default Setting" in the Adobe PDF (Distiller) printer's printing prefrences programatically. How can i do that?
Why? I don't know :-)
When I compare the documents (single page 'export' vs booklet-spreads 'print booklet') at 800%, the images on the 'export' are crisp. The images on the booklet are seriously pixellated/unreadable.
If it *is* possible to get print-ready, I'd love to!
This is what I'm doing - any help is greatly appreciated.:

Question on PDF Distiller or Creator for Development
I am looking at creating a program and would like to know a couple of things about the PDF Distiller or Creator API. First do you have to have Acrobat Pro installed on the server to use the APIs. I am a little new to the newer versions of Acrobat, but I did have experience with Acrobat 4.01 where I believe that I did need the Pro version to use most of the APIs. Is there a way to get the Distiller Library alone without the Pro Edition?
ejuozaitis wrote:

You need Acrobat installed in order to use the APIs in the Acrobat SDK - however, section 2.3 of the Acrobat EULA forbids it from being used on a server, so you cannot use Acrobat SDK applications on a server.
ejuozaitis wrote:

You can buy Distiller Server. It is a seperate product from Acrobat (which includes Distiller, not Distiller Server) and designed to run on a server as part of an automated workflow. -
