PDF document - digital sign

Hello,
I would like to ask you, what I need to digital sign (with certificate of course) the PDF document. Now we have only Acrobat Reader and I heard, that there are some possibilities to sign PDF document in this software. But I'm not sure how to do this. Or do I need a full version (ie Standard) of Acrobat? And what in case of scanned document in PDF format?
Thank very much for reply
BoBik

OK, thanks for reply. If I understand it well, I need to enable it for each document separately?
And what about scanned documents? When i I buy i.e. Adobe Acrobat Standard - will I be able to sign this files?

  • JavaScript for completely locking pdf after digitally signing

I currently use both Abobe Acrobat XI and Livecycle Designer ES4.
When i want to add the option to completely lock down a document after digitally signing (inc disabling of the 'clear signature' option) i execute javascript within the properties of the digital signature which works fine no problem.
Im lead to believe that Livecycle will remove any scripting from a pdf created within acrobat as it uses its own flavour so to speak.
My question is, does anybody know what the Livecycle equivalent is to have the option of locking after signing (as image) and disable the 'clear signature' feature post signing?
    Any feedbcak is appreciated.

Not sure where your pic is from.  But in LC Designer you can specify what you want locked after signing.

  • Once a PDF is digitally signed, how to I disable the "Clear signature" option?  I cannot allow appli

I need to set up digital signatures for a number of documents, but once signed, the signatures must be permenant.  Currently the owner has the option (right clicking on the signature), to "clear signature" - how do I disable this?
    Thanks in advance!

The point is that this is trivial to achieve for anyone, even if the file is locked after signing.
They just need to keep a copy of the unsigned file, delete the signed one, and replace it with the unsigned file. So such protection means nothing.
Repudiating signatures is a very bad thing, but it can only have real meaning if someone or some process knew about the signing. Otherwise, it's like someone signing a piece of paper, and destroying their signed copy without showing it to anyone; it's as if it never happened, and nothing was gained.  If on the other hand a person has received the signed file, or a process has securely archived it, then removing a signature has no repudiating effect on the copy.
It can be hard to convert paper-based to electronic-based workflows where files can be freely duplicated, shared etc.
Clearly, though, if a person can sign a file, then others can act on that signature, and then the signer can still edit the original signed file, there is a big problem, not just of repudiation but of auditability.

  • Digital signature in a PDF document

    Hello,
I'm trying to make a BSP that signs a pdf document. I've seen the BSP SSFDEMODIGSIG but It only makes a encoded file with the PDF and the sign. What I need is to create a PDF document digitally signed. Is it possible to do it?. Thanks for your help

  • How to Create a PDF Document and apply Digital Signature in C# using the Adobe SDK?

    Hi Everybody!
I have to do two distinct tasks here:
    1) How can I create a PDF document using the Adobe SDK in my .NET Applications(C# - 2.0)?
I just need a basic sample to create a document with a simple text, for example. I did not find any useful information in the adobe documentation. I have the Acrobat Professional 8.0 in my computer, but it's very dificult to work whith de Acrobat.dll and .NET with a poor documentaion.
2)How can I apply digital signature in a existent pdf document?
I need to sign documents using the SDK, just a basic sample in c# would be helpful to start!
    Anybody could help?
    Thank in advance!

Leonard Rosenthol or anybody that can help, sorry to insist.
I will explain better my problem:
I have an ASP.NET WebPAge (C# - 2.0). In this page, the user make a request. The request should generate a PDF document with the informations of the request and with a field to add a digital signature. The document created will be send to a approver that will confirm the approval applying his digital signature (I need to do too, a webpage where the approver open the page, choose the pdf document, and sign, just selecting his own certificate and clicking in the button SIGN... but this is another problem).
That's the reason that I have to create a PDF document. If I create a WORD or HTML document, and then convert to PDF, how can I add a field to digital signature in this pdf document?
Is there any solution using Acrobat SDK?
    Thank you very much!

  • Stringing a number of Digitally signed documents together

Hi, I am currently running a project to convert my companies hard copy documentation packs to fully electronic, digitally signed documents.
The final document will be a string of several digitally signed documents combined together in one final document for presentation to our customers. I am currently having diffuculty retaining the original digital signature of the documents when they are combined.
I am using Acrobat Pro XI and have tried Certifying and just digitally signing but the original signatures appear to be deleted in the final document.
The real world application will be the initial company signing their docs for authentication and email it to their customer, this company will add docs to this first file and sign it then forward this on to their customer, etc until it reaches me when the completed document file will be locked.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,   I finally worked it out. However, it's not an ideal format for how I originally visualised the outcome.    From what I have read on the Adobe site and the discussion threads it doesn't appear that you can combine several digitally signed documents together to make a single document pack.
I had hoped that there was some way to have, say, 3 documents digitally signed by different people then merge these together into a single document but still retaining their individual signature details. This final document could then be certified by myself as the final recipient.
This final document pack could then be added to the final customers portfolio with many other documents.
The only way i can see to do this at the moment is to "sign" the documents with an annotation (ie. a JPG or PDF stamp), or use the built in stamps in COMMENTS, combine these into a single document and then digitally sign / certify this completed pack.
Has any one encountered this situation before and managed to solve it?
I understand that, because a change has been made to the original document this nullifies the orignal digital signature. I could live with this as long as I could retain the signatories details on that document.

  • Issue while Signing and Encrypting the PDF Document.

    Hello,
I am developing one component in VC++(MFC) which signs and encrypts the pdf documents.
When i sign and encrypt pdf document using my component, I am getting following error while opening the document in Adobe Acrobat
    Error during signature verification
Unexpected byte range values defining scope of signed data.
Details: The signature byte range is invalid
But if i open that document in binary mode and calculate the byte range its looking correct.
The Process for signing and encrypting the PDF document is as follows :
1)Prepare the PDF document for signing (Add Annotation objects,n0,n2
layers, create blank signature field, new xref section etc.)
2)Encrypt the whole document(Password based encryption).
    3)Put the ByteRange values.
4)Write the signature in blank signature field.
If i just perform encryption(128 bit RC4 Algorithm) on the pdf document its working fine.Only after adding the signature objects i am getting above error.I think it means something is wrong in signature related objects, but i am not able to recognize the exact problem.
So what can be the issue?
    Please Help
    Thanks in Advance

  • Making a subform appear when Digitally Signed

    Hi,
how would i get a hidden subform to appear when the pdf is digitally signed, what i need to appear is:
    form1.page1.subform6.SubmitForm.presence = "visable";
    form1.page1.subform6.presence = "visable";

You would have to run your code on the preSign event otherwise if the form changes after the signature is applied it will break the signature. Your code is OK except that it is visible not visable.

  • Unable to digitally sign and save a PDF document

I am currently using ADOBE ACROBAT 8.0 Professional (Ver 8.1.0).  I provide proofreading service for a client.  The client provides me with a PDF which I use the comment and mark up tool to indicate required changes.  Once all of the comments are complete, I mark the document approved or disapproved and attach a digital signature.
Recently, many files that I have recieved from the client will not allow me to sign and save the PDF.  I can save the PDF without the signature but not when it is digitally signed.  The error reads:
"The document could not be saved.   A number is out of range"
I queried my client to find out if they have made any changes.  They have recently upgraded to Illustrator 4 and they create the PDF's for me from the Illustrator files they work from.  There are four teams using the same Illustrator program but not all of them are producing files that I cannot sign and save.
Can anyone tell me what the error indicates?  Is there a property assigned to the document that I can not recognize that refers to this problem.
Since the files I work on contain proprietary information, I prefer not to attach them to this forum.  If anyone is interested in helping, I will share a file to fully explain my problem.

I will try that, thank you.

  • Digitally signing pdf documents

We want to digitally sign pdf documents that are generated in the printing service / AS. (rwclient is used on the client machines to access the printing service.)
The digital sign should be on all generated pdf documents, with no intervention by the end users. The digital sign should hence be on behalf on the organisation, not the individual user issuing the pdf dokument.
In addition we would like to lock the pdf documents in order på prevent manipulation of the content.
Any surgestions on how to achieve this?
    Regards

    Hello,
You can create your own destination .
An example is available on OTN :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/pluginxchange/index.html
    Secure PDF Destination
This destination creates a secure PDF that is password-protected. This sample is tested with Oracle Reports 9i, Oracle Reports 10g (9.0.4), and Oracle Reports 10g Release 2 (10.1.2).

  • Can IXOS (OPENTEXT) handle digitally signed PDF documents

    Hi All,
we have requirement where we want to store digitally signed PDF documents in IXOS (OPENTEXT) server and view them using IXOS viewer.  I have tried to save one digitally sighed PDF but it was also password protected and I was not able to open it with the IXOS live link opener.
Request you to share your experience or views on this.
    Thanks a lot.
    Best regards,
    Vithal

    hi,
yes IXOS handlesDigitaly signed PDF documents,
    http://opentext.com/download/livelinkdownload.html?path=/corporate/investor/secfiling/FY2005Q4_10K.pdf
    Please refere tihis doc..
The repository supports queries based on metadata, full-text index and even a combination
of both. Another option is to render document content to a long-term format like TIFF or PDF.  Using
digital signatures (time stamps) it can be assured that content cannot be modified without recognition.
Hence clearly say's retrival or access doc need to enter digital signature which are preconfigured during DOC creation phase.

  • How to digitally sign PDF document in VB?

    Hi,
I was wondering if there was a way to open a PDF file and digitally sign the document (with the electronic signature info showing on the bottom of the last page) programatically?
    Thanks
    K

    > (1) When I download the SDK, it only has a setup file which I launch - I don't see any documentation in there and no menu item is created.
Where did you download the SDK?
    > (2) When I go to the livedocs.abobe.com link and look how to use Javascript to digitally sign documents, the link is blank and is waiting for someone to post a comment.
May be a problem of your browser.
    > Does someone know of a VB code that allows you to digitally sign the PDF documents via Javascript?
Look at the JavaScript sample AddSignature in the SDK.

  • How to digitally sign PDF document in VC?

    Hi all,
i want know how to open a PDF file and digitally sign the document programatically in vc?
    Thanks

Do you mean a tool other than Adobe Acrobat or Reader?  Since this is the Acrobat SDK, your users would already have Acrobat installed and can sign PDFs just fine.
What would you be adding to that?

  • How can I digitally sign a pdf document and also disallow changes to the document?

When I digitally sign the document it does not let me lock it down - when I lock down the doc first, it does not allow for digital signature. Please help.

The initial document should have its properties set as:
    Changing the Document: Not allowed
    Signing: Allowed
That way no one can make changes to it but anyone may sign it. These properties are available in v9, but I'm not sure about previous versions.
