PDF documents in Forms 6i

I need to show a scanned document stored on an ftp site in PDF format in a form. Has anyone been able to do this ?

<p>Here is part of the answer.</p>
It is about sound but it would not be difficult to attach other types of documents.

    Hello,
I'm not a specialist, but I think that you could configure these information in the /Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf file
    # Aliases: Add here as many aliases as you need (with no limit). The format is
    # Alias fakename realname
    <IfModule mod_alias.c>
        # Note that if you include a trailing / on fakename then the server will
        # require it to be present in the URL.  So "/icons" isn't aliased in this
        # example, only "/icons/"..
        Alias /icons/ "/appli/9IAS/Apache/Apache/icons/"
        Alias /jservdocs/ "/appli/9IAS/Apache/Jserv/docs/"
        Alias /javacachedocs/ "/appli/9IAS/javacache/javadoc/"

  • This PDF document contains forms. The filling of forms is not supported.

I get this message when I attempt to open a password protected document. "This PDF document contains forms. The filling of forms is not supported." It won't even let me enter the password.  What do I do?

    Hi stephenh20710301,
Could you please let me know if you are using the latest version of Reader i.e 11.0.10
Ask the PDF creator or if you are the creator, open the PDF in Acrobat XI (latest version) and choose "File> Save as Other> Reader Extended PDF> Enable more Tools"
Let me know if this helps.

  • How do I convert my pdf documents into forms which I can edit with adobe exportpdf?

I just purchased the Adobe ExportPDF and need to know how to convert my pdf or other files into documents that I can edit.  Can someone help me with this?

    Hi Desh,
There is no way you can edit and document with Exportpdf. Exportpdf only helps you to convert the pdf document to other formats.
Please provide more information what is exactly that you want to perform. And what all Adobe Applications you have.

  • Font size, spacing in editable PDF document (application form)

I am trying to fill out an application form that has already been created by a university. The form's instructions indicate that applicants must fill in the fields using Times New Roman 12 point font with 1.5 spacing. However, nowhere in Adobe Reader do I see any option for changing the parameters of the text that I can type into the fields. Is this even possible?
Here is the link to the document in question, if that helps:

    Thanks!

With Adobe Acrobat you can change the font in the text fields.

  • Error message: "This PDF document contains forms. The filling of form fields is not supported."

Hello, I am running with this operating system: Microsoft windows XP Professional version 2002 service pack 3
Just downloaded the newest version of Adobe reader
Using an updated version of Firefox.
There is an online form that I must fill out in adobe reader online...  I could download it, but then I would have to FAX or mail it in, as apposed to directly sending it to the organization it is from via a "SUBMIT" button at the end of the form...  I do not have a printer.
Thank you for any help you can give.

Do you use the Firefox PDF viewer, or the Adobe PDF plugin?  The Firefox PDF viewer is incompatible with many modern PDF features.

I need to fill in & submit online forms but I keep getting the above message. I realise I can view and fill in the forms in an adobe window, but I need to do this online, and it is a secure website with the form imbedded. Is there any way I can have the "filling of form fields" supported so I can do this, please?

To switch from the less full featured built-in viewer to Adobe's Acrobat plugin, see the steps in this article: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]].
    Can you get it working?

  • PDF Document Counting Form Field

I've searched and can't seem to find a solution to this - is there a way to include a document counter so that when a person opens or saves a pdf, it shows the number of that pdf. If I open it, it will show Doc #1 and the next person to open/save it, shows Doc #2 and so forth.
    Thank you!!!

I know nothing about programing.  However, I was able to create a stamp following the directions at http://blogs.adobe.com/acrolaw/2009/05/add_dynamic_exhibit_stamps_in_ac.html,
The problem is that I need the stamp value to increment each time I stamp something.  For example, if I have a binder with 40 emails, I want to be able to just go through the pages and stamp each one with the number on the stamp incrementing by one.  Can you or anyone tell me how to do this - in language suitable for a "dummie"?  Thank you.  My email is [email protected] Thanks again.

  • Clients get corrupted PDF documents (containing forms) in emails?

    Hello,
This isn't an Adobe issue per se, but many Adobe users have probably come across this IT issue:
When you drag certain kinds of PDF files to Outlook as attachments to send to a client or others, they often cannot open the PDF files because they're corrupted." This happened only with a PDF FORM that we produced, but non-form PDF files seemed to work fine.
After some testing, I found that it occurs when people are downloading the attachments from an online mail interface (e.g., gmail, yahoo mail, etc.)-- if they are using Outlook, the form-PDF's come across fine. If I enclose the form-PDF files in a zip file, then they come out fine too (in all cases).
So, is there a "magic" way to set-up Outlook so that the raw form-PDF attachments don't become corrupted when the client's try to download them?
    thanks!
    JP

Well, I can't check Outlook on this machine as I can't find it. I might check another machine later. Anyway, most mail packages have an option to view the raw message, not the formated one that you normally see. The raw message form has the routing header of where the e-mail traveled on the way to you and information on the type of content, that is often in a multi-part form. Part may be ASCII (generally 7-bit data) and other Base64 (binary) and such. This information is used by your mail client to display it the way you see it. In old style e-mail you only saw the raw form and had to wade though all of the extra stuff. However, that stuff can be helpful when problems crop up and that is what I was suggesting.
Outlook may be one of those clients that assumes you would get no value from the raw form and hides the selection, I really do not know. The raw form is the data is it is sent to you, not as you see it. My package has the option on a tab and it is easy to view.
In any case, your problem is likely a client encoding issue. PDFs have long had problems with mail clients as a result. Zip files are an alternative, but as suggested many companies and agencies no longer allow zip files and will strip them off of any e-mail.

  • How to reduce a PDF document that contains an Adobe XML form?

    Hi,
I have created some fillable PDF files using Adobe LiveCycle Designer and used Adobe Acrobat Pro XI to save it as Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in and save)…
The form includes image, text field, check box, radio button, table and other controls, as well as java scripts behind. The files are from 1 to 3 MB in size. I tried Reduced Size PDF and Optimized PDF, but I got a message: “This PDF document contains an Adobe XML form. Such files cannot be optimized.”
    My questions are:
Is there a way I can reduce the file greatly, say about 100 KB?
And after the size reduced,  does it still keep the original quality in format and function?
    Thanks

    Hi,
if you only use default fonts like Arial or Myriad don't embed fonts into the form at all.
If you have to use a specific font because of corporate identity you should check if there are fields in your fom using other fonts like Arial.
Especially floating fields are a reason for big files as they use Designers default font even if you'll never see it in the PDF.
When using images, you should not check the "embed" checkbox, as this will save the images a base64-stream into the xml-source.
If unchecked the images are stored as hex-stream in the PDF-stream which cause a smaller file size.
Also, don't use high res images, 150dpi are far enough. You also don't need 16Bit depth as Designer only supports 8Bit images with RGB colors.

  • Dante font used in manuscript - when I try to save as a pdf document in Microsoft Word whole pages change their look, with wide gaps forming between certain paragraphs or sections. This does not happen with other fonts.

Dante font used in manuscript … when I try to save as a pdf document in Microsoft Word whole pages change their look, with wide gaps forming between certain paragraphs or sections. This does not happen with other fonts.

    OK, we've got it!
What is happening is that when you use Microsoft's save as PDF in Word, the font isn't embedded even though the font is tagged to allow embedding. Furthermore, Microsoft doesn't properly put the font name into the PDF file such that Acrobat or Reader can readily find the font installed on your system such that the text can be properly displayed and/or printed. Acrobat and Reader attempt to display and/or print the text using a “substitution font” and of course, as they say, YMMV (“your mileage may vary”)!
I personally submitted the report of this problem (both the embedding and the font name problem) to Microsoft. They acknowledge the bug, tried a fix and provided me a build with it, but it wasn't right. Maybe they will ultimately fix it, maybe they won't. We don't know yet. We do know that if it is fixed, it will be fixed only for Office 2013 (problem occurs with all Office applications since they use the same PDF generation code) and thus such a fix won't help you.
Adobe Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro  both provide an Adobe PDFMaker plug-in to Office applications (including full support for Office 2010) that adds an Acrobat Toolbar as well as a Save as Adobe PDF menu item. The resultant PDF file fully supports embedding of OpenType CFF, TrueType, and Type 1 fonts and in many other ways produces much superior PDF with a full range of PDF generation options not available with the Microsoft PDF. (Note that beginning with Office 2013, Microsoft does not support Type 1 fonts in Office documents at all, even for existing documents!) The Acrobat Office functions are widely used and respected in the end user community and whatever “issues” there are (all software has “issues” of some type - it is a matter of how many and how severe), you should be in much better shape for PDF production that with what you currently are using.
Good luck and let us know if this resolves your problems. (Note that you can download and install a free fully-functional 30 trial of Acrobat Pro to assure that it meets your needs! You can then buy a license and activate what you already have installed.)
