Pdf documents protect from printing

Hi,
we have a lot of pdf documents and we will protect them from printing. It is possible to do this concurrently?
Thanks.
Dear Thomas

With form fields and comments, you can set their visibility to "visible but
doesn't print" through the properties menu.
I'm not 100% sure if this applies to stamps as well, but it's worth a try...

Have you tried any steps to resolve the issue.

  • All my PDFs/documents disappeared from my iphone 4

All my PDFs/documents disappeared from my iphone 4( version) 6.1.3 after i restored my device, while these PDFs still exist in my itunes books list. I can't as well add new PDFs/documents to my ibooks app. Please help.

A backup includes most items in iBooks, but I believe it does not include PDF files.  Are you saying that in the App tab (in itunes), for iBooks, the PDF files still show up?  Or do you mean something else by "itunes books list"?

  • Some Adobe PDF documents don't print from Adobe Reader; with other software it works correctly

    Dear community,
I'm facing the problem that some Adobe PDF documents with lots of colors and lines (size less than 3 MB) don't print on our printers from Adobe Reader XI.
The same files when opened with PDF XChange or PDF Architect are printed out without problems.
How can I provide an Adobe Reader that is able to do so? Any recommendations about solving the issue are very appreciated.
    Best regards
    Christian

Word document problem fixed at the moment by deleting and adding the Lexmark printer again.

  • Will only give print option of "current frame" for a six page PDF document opened from link in Safari.

I'm new to Mac having just moved from a PC.  The TD Ameritrade site provides statements as PDF documents which are opened by clicking on a link.  The document is displayed in a pop-up window and there is no problem viewing all pages by scrolling.  But there is no PDF toolbar and Safari will only allow me the option of printing the "current frame", not the entire document or several pages.  What am I missing?  Does the Mac not actually bring it up as a PDF?

Hold down the OPTION key and click on the link. That will cause the document to download to wherever you set DLs to go. Then, open it in Preview and print everything.

  • Printing Multi Page PDF Document exported from iPad

I e-mailed a PDF file from my iPad using the Numbers e-mail feature. I was sending it to my office (PC dominated!) to be entered. When she opened the attachment it looked fine, but, when she went to print it, this 6 page document tried to print on one page. I had page breaks inserted, and it did print on my Mac, but, it didn't print on her PC and it didn't print on my PC Laptop. I couldn't adjust any print parameters to have it print on more than one page, so, as it stands, the iPad is a totally useless tool for me. Anyone have any ideas?

I am having the same problem. I am not able to print my number documents on a PC, my multipage Number documents are shrunk to one page when trying to print as a PDF. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Restrict sensitive document leakage from Printing, "Save as", Copying and Priting screen?

Our President highly suspected some of our staff who have sold the confidential documents to competitors but we do not have enough proof. How can we restrict sensitive data leakage from Printing, "Save as", Copying and Priting screen?
Thank you for your advice in advance.

Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management can apply DRM to a PDF file, which prevents printing and content extraction, and links access to the document to a user login - but there is no way to prevent that user saving a copy of the file to disk or a USB drive, or making multiple copies, no from telling someone else their login details. You can revoke access remotely if you suspect a copy has been stolen, but there's no DRM solution for PDF files which can lock the content to a hardware platform, for example in the way a copy of Windows "activates" itself. Opening and copying a file are two entirely-different concepts, and if a LCDRM-encrypted file is published to the Web without the login details to open it, we can be absolutely certain it cannot be cracked as the encryption hashes used by Adobe are so complex they would take billions of years to break, even with government-level resources. Naturally if a user reveals their login details to someone, LiveCycle's audit trail will prove this and you can take legal action against that user, but they may not care if the document has sufficient value.
Using PDF there is no way to block access to the Print Screen button. Some third-party software converts the PDF into a proprietary file format which only opens in their own software, that in turn attempts to block the print screen keystroke, but it's not hack-proof and the resulting file is of course no longer a PDF. Ultimately if you can see something on screen you can always copy it, either by use of a custom display driver, remote-desktop system or photographing the screen with a cellphone camera, and re-OCRing the pages from those photos.
Where documents are sufficiently-important to require a guarantee that on-screen reading is the only possible thing a user can do once the file is opened, they should be restricted to using hardware in secured locations, where network access, printers, USB ports etc. can all be removed. This is the approach taken by many enterprise and public-sector agencies; but once a document is distributed to an unregulated location there will always be a way around copy protection on page content if a user can open the file and view it on screen. While there are some interactive page elements in PDF which are harder to "screen scrape" than others (SWF, video and 3D), it can be done. The only elements of a PDF file which can be guaranteed secure even in an unsecure location are invisible features such as scripts when the PDF is protected using LCDRM to ensure it cannot be opened in third-party software.

  • Not possible to print a SWF in a PDF document using the Print command in Ad

Have a PDF with 3 pages, page 1 and 3 contains text and the 2nd page contains a SWF animation made with Xcelsius 2008. When printing the document using the Print function in Adobe the 2nd page is always empty, the SWF is never printed.  To be able to print the 2nd page containing the SWF animation I must use the print function in the Flash player (right click on the SWF animation).
This problem should, according to Business Objects, be solved with the new version of Adobe Reader 9, but the problem still appear.

I have seen this.  Adobe 9 cannot print embedded flash objects.  Xcelsius Engage/2008 includes a print button you can include on your dashboards to allow you to print them from your pdf files.

  • Hyperlinks in pdf documents created from Keynote

For some reason the hyperlinks I've recently added to a keynote document are not active when I convert it to a pdf document. Neither Preview nor Adobe recognise them as hyperlinks.
I've made the hyperlinks active using the inspector, and give the full url, including the http://. Can anybody help?

Bernd Alheit, thanks for your answer. We print the pdf document from visio 2007 and then we read it in adobe reader 9. The relative hyperlinks work fine in visio 2007, but they change to absolute ones in the pdf document.

    Hello DJohnsen,
I am sorry that you are having trouble printing a readable .pdf document!  I would like to know a couple of things.  Is this a general .pdf print from a local PC/External Hard Drive, web content or is this an ePrint attachment?  There are a couple of different factors that could be effecting the outcome of this print job.  To name a few: resolution of the document, how the .pdf was created (format) and print settings.  I would like to give more insight; please post with more details about the print job.  Thanks!
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

  • PDF documents have stopped printed in Firefox. I get an error message. No problem with Safari.

When I try to print a pdf -- either one that I've created or one downloaded from the Internet, I get an error message and the document will not print.

Firefox finds my home page. When I go somewhere else, I get to offline message. I go and uncheck "Work Offline", but it still does not work. Firefox no longer works for me and I had to go back to Internet Explorer.

  • PDF document protection

When exporting a pages doc to PDF for emailing, can it be protected from editing by recipients -as in a newsletter?

When you Print to PDF you have a Security Options... button, where you can set passwords for the file.
The encryption is not strong enough for nuclear secrets, but for most people it is strong enough that they cannot open the file.

  • Is there anyway to transfer a pdf document (book) from iBooks to a third-party app like PDF Expert?

I've been having problems using Dropbox to transfer a large pdf document(2.3GB) from my MacBook Pro to my iPad. Each time I upload the document to my Dropbox, the file becomes unreadable. I am able to read the document on my MacBook Pro before uploading it to my Dropbox, however. Since the uploading process seems to be corrupting the file somehow, I decided to transfer the file using iTunes, which places the doument into the iBooks app on my iPad. I have opened the file using the iBooks app and I am able to read it, but I want to be able to use PDF Expert to read the document and so I need to somehow move the document from iBooks to PDF Expert. Is there a way to transfer the file? Or I'm I now limited to using iBooks only? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Have you tried GoodReader? It claims to handle very large file sizes and it's very good for annotations. It's my PDF reader of choice on the iPad
    From the GoodReader manual:
File types to view in GoodReader
There are two types of viewing engines - the ones that we've written ourselves, and the built-in device's standard viewing engine. Our own engines provide great flexibility and many additional features not found in the built-in engine (for example, opening very large files). The built-in engine is very powerful and knows many file formats, but has many limitations and no additional features.
Files of very big size (our own viewing engine):
very large PDF files (including password-protected). File size is not the limit. Revolutionary PDF Reflow (Extract Pure Text) mode. See Viewing PDF Files for details.
very large TXT files. See Viewing TXT Files for details.
high-resolution pictures and other graphic files (including slideshow viewing mode). See Viewing Pictures for details.
And as a free bonus - files of normal size (iOS standard viewing engine):
all file formats supported by Safari engine: Microsoft Office files - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML files and Safariwebarchives
iWork'08/09 files - Pages, Numbers, Keynote (files must be saved with Include Preview option)
.ai files saved with PDF Compatible option
audio files (natively supported by iOS)
video files (natively supported by iOS)

  • 4500 envy cuts off right hand side of pdf document when I print to letter size paper

This is a new printer for me.  It is connected to my laptop with a USB cord.  I am attempting to print an e-mailed PDF document .  When I preview, I see that the right-hand side of the document is cut off  by more than an inch.  How do I get the printer to format the document to fit on letter-sized paper? Reducing the document size to under 100 % does not help.

  • I have secured PDF documents to prevent printing and saving the document. Why PDF plugin built into Firefox allows you to skip the security?

I am using PDFfactory to secure the PDF documents in my company. Despite this, users can open the document in Firefox and print, and save it locally. This is unacceptable because of the ISO standards process in my company. Please help ASAP.

I think the first course of action would be to try securing with a different authoring program (if you have access to one) and seeing if you have the same problem.
As for the downloading and printing side of it, even with a protected PDF, anyone with the intent and a little knowledge will be able to download it. Or screenshot each page in their viewer.
One way to prevent them getting a usable print is to create a solid annotation field across each page of the document. It will be invisible whilst just being viewed but when printed the annotation field will cover everything, thereby producing a blank page.
Is it fair to ask whether a pdf is the best way of presenting information that you do not want them to download and subsequently print, seeing as that is exactly the reason PDF's exist?
