PDF doesn't print correctly

Some pdf's do not print correctly - they appear zoomed in the print preview screen and also when printed out. Not all pdf's are affected though. How do I get them to print correctly? Anyone else have this problem?

I noticed that if I download it in Firefox there is not scaling problem. Also, Firefox is set to automatically download the file to my computer. When using Safari, the pdf is viewing from within Safari. If you try to print from this view, you'll notice the preview is scaled wrong. Also, if you download to pdf in the print menu, the pdf will exhibit the same scaling problem, but if you download the pdf using save as, it scales correctly. Is this a Safari bug?

  • My EPSON printer doesn't print correctly the colors

Hi, I've an EPSON Stylus Photo R200 installed on my MacBook (OSX 10.4.11)... From some days, my printer doesn't print correctly the colors: I lunched the utility application and I saw that the printer doesn't print the "light magenta" (that's the light pink I think); that's strange, because his inkjet refill is not empty. I tried to do the clean process, but it don't start because there isn't enough ink in another two ink refill (yellow and light cyan, that aren't empty however).
    Some ideas?

I have similar issue before and it's really frustrated to use small capacity cartridges in my R200 and R280 printers. I ended up to get a very very decent ink system from InkRepublic.com
these two systems have been working for me for few years and I never ever have to worry about the ink cost and printing problem.
There are couple of good reviews and workflow here

  • PDFs are not printing correctly in Adobe Reader 10.1.3

When I try to print pages from a PDF using Adobe Reader 10.1.3, some of the text is not printing.  If I use another PDF program, such as Apple Preview, that text is printed correctly.

This is not a channel to official Adobe support. I cannot find the bug by the number you gave in the Adobe help system.

  • PDF will not print correctly from any app

I seem to keep on getting the same error everywhere I print on SL (from safari/firefox/preview etc etc)
It will usually print any lines or logos but miss all text?? I did have the dreaded adobe reader installed but have since removed it?
I am in urgent need of printing out some manuals for a class so in real trouble, help!

Where do these PDFs that do not print correctly come from? Are they downloaded from the internet or from email? Or do you create them yourself on your computer? If so, in which program?
Do some PDF files print correctly, but not others? Did you remove the dreaded Acrobat Reader before this problem developed or after? Did this problem develop only after you ungraded to a certain release of Snow Leopard or has it never worked in SL?
PDF is wonderful technology, but every so often there can be issues.

  • PDF files not printing correctly, only prints graphics (Vista)

Can anyone help me out? When I print a PDF file it only prints certain things,,,,,seems to print the more graphic items and not just plain text. I have the latest version of Adobe Reader. I can print fine to my printer from other applications. HP support was no help.
    Thanks!

  • Last page doesn't print correctly on 2 page 2 copy Windows 8.1 Wireless printing to HP4630

On Windows 8.1, when printing 2 copies of a 2 page document (any application) the last page of the last copy fails to print completely (sometimes half a page) or fails to print at all.  It doesn't matter whether I am printing one sided ot two sided.
A blue alert box is displayed on the desktop with the message "Error printing on HP Officejet 4630 series... The printer couldn't print <file name>"
When I monitor the printing ("See what's printing"), the job disappears in the monitor just before the error message shows up. There is no indication in the monitor of any printing problem.
I've looked everywhere and can find no event logs that show this error.
Windows is totally up to date.  The latest HP drivers are installed.
All attempts to use the various troubleshooting buttons in windows and the driver discover no problems.
When I print the same exact report in the same way from Windows 7 it doesn't fail.
I've tried it on 2 different 4630s on the same Windows 8.1computer with the same results.
Even though this appears to be a unique problem when printing from Windows 8.1, I need to get help finding out the exact nature of the problem and the error message.

Hi there @FrankCF , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're running into print issues.  I would like to help.
Does this issue occur when making a copy from the machine?
I would suggest performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would then recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Part of pdf doesn't print

A pdf is created with itext. At the end different pdf-files are merged. Only the first part is printed. You can see all the whole file in the Adobe Reader, as I want. When I test in Windows, there is no problem. But the production is on Linux and there is a problem. The version of Acrobat reader is 5.0.5
In Windows, I use Adobe Reader 8.1.2
    Can anyone help?
    Greetz

Thanks but I am not authorized to do the updates. Now I just want a explanation. The helpdesk (not me!!!) is not interesting in updating 22 servers because not only the reader has to be updated (also Linux).
The pdf-files added are made with Adobe Illustrator (CS3, CS2, 12.0 and 9.0 build 100). Incompatible versions is the most logical explanation for me but I want this confirmed by someone who knows more about all of this.
    Thanks

  • Placed PDFs don't print correct size from InDesign CS2

I am using CS2 stuff on Mac OS (leopard) with Epson RX680 printer. It's a large document with several placed files. Two are PFD files (color) that print too large. Looks fine on the screen but the printed document looks like it's trying to tile. (Page is divided into four sections with large section of file printed into each.) These placed files print fine from Acrobat and PhotoShop. Also, the document has several placed PDFs that print great. Help. Am on deadline.

Thanks a bunch. Long story short, I printed from Acrobat in high res,
scanned it in high res to TIFF and used it that way. What a pain!
What a crime. It may look good on screen and even off your desktop printer, but you've now rasterized everything and captured the printer dots from your printer, which should reproduce quite nicely on an imagesetter.
The answer to this kind of problem is never to rasterize the PDF, but to find out what's wrong with the print driver or printer, but if you're going to take a shortcut, the least you should do is open the PDF in Photoshop at 600 ppi or (preferably) higher and save as a psd or tiff. Scanning is a waste of time and will only degrade things more. If the PDF is choking the printer, odds are pretty good a bitmap image with enough resolution to preserve some semblance of the vector data is going to do it too, by the way.

  • File pdf-reference.pdf doesn't print properly - only cover page

When I try to print the standard pdf reference from the Acrobat 8.0 SDK samples in all.sln in Visual Studio, only the cover page prints. Further, the sample javascript object program only says there is one page. The file consists of the cover page, and four embedded pdf files, totaling 1500 + pages. How do you make the samples print out the cover page, and then extract and print the embedded parts of the file?
    C:\TEMP
    CoverSheet.pdf
    PDF Reference.pdf
    PDF Errata.pdf
    PDF Addendum.pdf
The java object sample should say "this file has 4 sub-files and totals 1500 pages", etc.
    What is the problem here?

I don't know if there is a sample showing you how to do this - but it's pretty easy.
Look at the documentation for the Data Object in the SDK JavaScript docs.

  • Interactive PDF doesn't print what is visible

So I've created an interactive pdf from InDesign where the user can toggle between various images(buttons) to make their own design. However, when it is time to print, all of the images, or at least a random set of the images are printed.  The viewable/hidden status seems to have no affect on what is actually printed.
How can I fix this to make the print match the screen?

...and of course as soon as I post the question, I find an/the answer.
If you set a button to start off hidden, and you have the "Button is Printable" option checked under "PDF Options" the button will be printable initially. If you toggle it on and off in the PDF it will get back in sync. The solution is to uncheck "Button is Printable" for buttons that start off hidden.

  • Crystal Report (RDC) doesn't print correctly, after Printer change ?

There are problems with the page format and the color settings for the new printer !
It should be resolved with ADAPT01104291 FixPack3.8
Description: Crystal reports may not print properly after users change printers by using the SelectPrinter command from the Report Designer Component (RDC). The cause of the problem is that the incorrect DEVMODE structure size is allocated to the print job.
    We are using CRXI_R2_SP5_Upgrade: ProductID=11.5.11.1470.2.26.Patch
but we still have the problems !

Hello Don, thank you for your extensive answer. The PCL printer of HP is not the trouble maker. The problem is obviously replicable with any other Printer Driver (Espon/Sharp/Kycocera a. s. o.)  I only installed this PCL Printer Driver of course you mentioned it in your example before.
Okay, let's talk about the Devcap-Program and there Information about the paper source of a printer. Even in Visual Basic it's possible to get those Information by Win-API-Call's. Here they are:
    PrinterID: , AusgabeName: , TreiberName: , Port: LPT1:, TrackDefault: , PaperSize:
    Papier-Schächte:
    Automatisch auswählen, Nr: 15
    Automatische Druckeraus, Nr: 262
    Schacht 1, Nr: 261
    Schacht 2, Nr: 260
    Schacht 3, Nr: 259
    Schacht 4 (2000-Blatt), Nr: 258
    Manueller Einzug (Schac, Nr: 257
    Papier-Formate:
    Letter, Nr: 1
    Legal, Nr: 5
    Statement, Nr: 6
    Executive, Nr: 7
    A3, Nr: 8
    A4, Nr: 9
    A5, Nr: 11
    B4 (JIS), Nr: 12
    B5 (JIS), Nr: 13
    11x17, Nr: 17
    Umschlag 10, Nr: 20
    Umschlag DL, Nr: 27
    Umschlag C5, Nr: 28
    Umschlag B5, Nr: 34
    Umschlag Monarch, Nr: 37
    Jap. Doppelpostkarte gedreht, Nr: 82
    12x18, Nr: 131
    9x12, Nr: 132
    C4, Nr: 133
    Maximum 11,7 x 17,7, Nr: 134
and even set those Information for the RDC-Sturcture, so there is a solution for the setting of the paper size.
But there is not solution for the setting of the color nor the further page settings (Printing onesided or bothsided a.s.o.)
I can change the default windows printer settings but that has no effect on the RDC-Print !  So I think, there must be a solution by the Crystal-Report-Design-printing-DLL (craxdrt.dll) !

  • HP DeskJet 3510 Printer Alignment Page Doesn't print correctly.

Hi I have a strange problem with my HP DeskJet 3510. I took it out of the box installed everything loaded up paper and powered it on. It went through all the motions and blah blah and printed out an alignment page. Anyhow it didn't look right to me but I went ahead and scanned it anyway and it then said "ink cartidges are set to default color quality" or something to the effect. I hit ok and it went to the main menu.
Now from my wifes phone I can connect to the printer and print just fine but from our laptop the alignment is all jacked up. If I type a bunch of random lines into notepad or anything really it misses a bunch of lines and some lines just don't even appear. Which I could only think would be because the alignment page isn't right.
Also from app that gets installed from the software CD on the laptop I can choose to align the cartridges but when I do and it prints and I scan the page (that still looks jacked up to me) the software tells me the alignment failed and asks me to rescan after I put the page in there right. I know the page is in there right its face down and in the bottom right hand corner as it should be.
Now I have ran the cartdridge cleaning process several times took the cartridges out and looked for debris or anything that could be in the way even though I doubt its any of those things becuase like I had said earlier it prings perfectly from my wifes printershare app from her smart phone. Just as it appears on her screen. Only getting this issue from the PC.
Anyhow I am going to attach a photo of how the priner aligment page comes out from me doing it on the printers control panel and from the PC's software both it comes out looking like this. If you could please give me some advice to what to do next that would be great as I am out of ideas. Did I just get a bad cartridge? If so why would it print from my wifes phone fine and not from the PC? Is this how the alignment page should look (can't read any of the things on the lower portion really).
Other Info : PC is running Windows . Other PC has same problem running Windows XP. Wifes Phone is using PrinterShare app. Any information or helpful advice is appreciated thank you guys in advance.

Finally, after installing and uninstalling the print cartridges on my HP-3510 around 10 times; I finally got the alignment page to print and then scan successfully. It's a nice, very economical printer when it works properly. I was on the verge of tossing it but glad I didn't. I guess the lesson is that persistence can pay off. My thanks to the other two contributing posters.
