PDF edit

Hi there
I've filled out a pdf-editable form and email it to someone using windows system. He opened the file and it was blank. He then filled out the form and emailed me back and I also see blank form. Is it to do with the form design? This problem doesn't apply to all forms I used in the past.
Best regards
Jimmy

Some forms cannot be filled in like that; now, PDF does offer the capability of using Tools > Annotate. You can choose Text among other things; however, I've tried that once and had to reset it for every line which was not only time consuming, but did not look that good. So, if the form is not fillable while online, I'd think it would be fastest to print it out, enter the required information, and scan it back in to be attached to an email.

  • PDF edits with Mac OS X Lion Aperçu don't show up on iPad: anyone with this issue?

I am using a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Lion, and an iPad 2 with iOS 5. If I edit PDF files with Aperçu, the drawings or texts I have added do not display on the iPad 2. Is this a known Apple bug? Does anyone else have this problem?

Actually, it is in iBooks that I have this problem with PDF files that have been edited with Aperçu. With iPad Safari, the PDF edits are displayed correctly, through Google docs PDF viewer; I have not tried with iPad Safari independantly from Google docs, but I think it won't work. It does not work in iPad mail for such edited PDF files that are attached to a message.

  • Are PDFs editable???

    Are PDFs editable???
First, how can I make a text PDF word-like to copy and paste text from it, and secondly, I have a PDF of a sketch of a floor plan I need to make some scribbles on. How can I accomplish this?
    thanks

PDFs can be edited somewhat with some difficulty. PDF is not intended as a wordprocessor file, nor as a CAD file. But some changes can be made.
An inexpensive program you can try for free is PDFpen:

  • Acrobat PDF edited in Photoshop opens with different proportions in Acrobat

I opened an Adobe Acrobat drawing PDF in Photoshop. I then cropped and rotated the image in Photoshop.
When I reopened the image in Acrobat Professional, the proportions had changed. The image was stretched vertically.
How can I get the image to reopen correctly in Acrobat Professional, after editing in Photoshop? I have a feeling it has to do with a setting in Photoshop.

Thank you for replying as nobody else did.
I've already switched back to A9.
I shouldn't have to upgrade again - I should be able to use the software I just paid for.
Sorry if that sounds rude but I can't be the only person who had that issue.

  • I was informed i need to purchase standard 11 or standard 12 (?) in order to make word files converted from pdf editable. how do i do this?

i was informed i need to purchase standard 11 or standard 12 from adobe in order to make files converted from pdf to word using the recently bought and installed adobe pdf exporter file. how/where do i do this?

Currently the Acrobat version is "XI" (no "12").
    With Acrobat XI installed:
"File - Save As Other"  --- from here you pick the supported file format for the export.
If a PDF has content that is the output of a scanner then that output (as is the case for All scanners' output) is a picture of text and not real text.
During an export all that can be processed is the picture. As a picture of text is not text it is understandable why Word (or other word processors) cannot edit the content.
So, for such, prior to export run Acrobat's OCR and save.
The export will be of the OCR content.
Do expect to do clean of the text, spelling, punctuation, layout etc.
This may be minor. This may be major. But, there will be some.
Adobe as some online subscription services that can take a "proper" PDF (NOT all are eh) and export to supported file formats.
Two are "ExportPDF" and "PDF Pack".
    Be well...

  • How to make a pdf editable and save for print

    Hi,
I just joined Adobe Cloud and it's been a while since I have used acrobat. I have made a brochure that I need a couple of things to be editable on. See below. I need the two areas highlighted in red to be editable for different locales/people. My questions are:
    A) I assume Acrobat is the way to do this. I also have FormsCentral if that works better. Can someone tell me how to make these two fields editable?
    B) What program do they edit with?  Acrobat Reader?
    C) How do they save and output it for print?
    Thank you,
    John

This is not about what Acrobat can or can't do - and you just said they won't have it anyway. It's about the limitations of PDF. A proper solution is to develop (at some expense) a server side PDF generator that takes the user's input and makes them a custom PDF. I don't know if you can just subscribe to a service to do this. If you aren't going to have them use Acrobat, form fields are your only option. Be sure they (and you) understand the limitations and that they must use Reader (not one of the many other PDF viewers). Be sure you understand about reader enabling: many versions of Reader CANNOT SAVE filled in files unless they are specially prepared.
So back to your original question: how do you make the fields editable: with the Forms function in Acrobat. You may have better luck in the Acrobat Forms forum.

  • How to use Adobe acrobat for PDF editing ?

Hello, I'm Shankar and I'm a website developer. I use to upload lots of Pdf in my Website named eventalerts.in. In my website I want to edit some of the unwanted things and then to be upload. I unable to edit those Pdf materials. Please any one can help me .

You'll want to ask in the Acrobat forum: Acrobat
But the difficulty of editing a pdf can vary from somewhat easy to very hard to impossible depending on the pdf. You'll want to give them more info over there as to what types of editing you want to do and maybe even link to a sample pdf if you can.

  • Indesign to PDF, edit text in Reader

I created a 37pg glossary for a client in InDesign CS6. I've been told now that they want the PDF to be editable in adobe reader so that other people reading the document can change as they see fit. I know how to do it for Acrobat but I can't figure it out for Reader. Help!

In acrobat pro you can go to Tools-->Content-->edit document text and change most of the text. The parts that need to be.
The file is a glossary for a jail to use, so it's a list of spanish words and their english translations. They want it to be editable so that if a teacher needs to change the spelling of words, add words, or delte words they can do that. Since most people don't have acrobat pro, the client needs it for Reader.

  • Acrobat X  600dpi b&w pdf Edit Object fails to load Photoshop

    Hello:
Adobe Acobat X correctly loads Photoshop when Edit Object | Edit Image is invoked on a color PDF.  But it fails to make the transfer when the pdf is a black and white document image pdf (1 bit per color component).  Instead, the error "Touchup cannot complete this operation" pop-up appears.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that Photoshop can't edit black and white images (not 8 bits per color component grayscale, black and white singe bit per color component).  Attempting to open the source document with Photoshop shows it is trying to convert it to RGB -- and only offers grayscale lower than that.
Does Edit | Preferences | Touchup need to have a Page/Object editor specified as well, for this type of image?  It already has Photoshop as the image editor. Would that be Illustrator (not yet installed on my system)?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, I'm looking into workarounds.  But at the moment I'm most interested in the official Adobe answer.  This can't possibly be true, that Photoshop can't edit a 1bpp image -- it's an image, just like an 8bpp image.  So I don't understand why Touchup doesn't indicate what should be done to edit this image, other than an error intercept.

  • HT2506 See Preview PDF edits on iPad

I love Preview.  Use it all of the time.  Catch for me now is that I cannot see the edits made on various apps on iPad.  It's like they are not there.  What do others do for this?
Just yesterday (4/7/13) I added an annotation to a pdf in Preview, uploaded to Dropbox, and then opened on the iPad.  I could see the edits in Dropbox, but I don't like the page turning in that app so I tried opening in a few other readers such as iBooks, Kindle, Docs to Go and PDF Splicer.  None of them showed me the annotations I made.  Is this a result of Sandboxing?  What other app might someone recommend, and what is an effective and low cost app for adding notes on pdf on iPad.  I use the iPad for teaching notes and other things and just need to quick add my own comments in a text box sometimes.
    Thanks for any thoughts!

  • I have add-ons (Convert to PDF, Edit in Contribute, Post to Blog) that use small icons, yet take up 2 rows of space at the top of my browser window. How do I move these items to display on 1 row?

''Problem: too much blank space at the top of browser window.''
    • The Convert to PDF icon takes up 1 entire row (predominately blank) of horizontal space
    • Edit in Contribute, Post to Blog are listed on a separate row, taking up 1 additional row (predominately blank) of horizontal space
They both use small icons and titles, .5" wide each, are flushed to the left, yet take up 2 rows of blank space at the top of my browser window. How do I move these items to display on 1 row?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode (https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode) and choose the 'Reset toolbars and controls option'. This will get you back to the stock icon set which you can then customize to your liking

  • Select tool in PDF editing - missing

    Hi,
I use Adobe Acrobat 8 Profession.
The "select" tool has disappeared and unable to select object or text to edit.
With the select tool I could choose any object or text within a PDF document to edit, alter, replace or just remove.

Don't paste images into pagemaker, ever, always place them.  If your pdf if acrobat 4 compatible you can place the pdf directly, but be prepared for document bloat.
Acrobat pro allows you to open individual images in Photoshop. You can also open pdfs in photoshop directly, but you have to guess at the resolution.

  • Open PDFs, Edit Them, Save Them?

Does Apple Pages allow you to open PDF files, edit the text in them, then save them out again as a PDF? I imagine that it can't, but this would be a very useful feature if it can.

I don't know what is your purpose with PDF documents related to Pages, but :
    - You can open PDF documents produced by Pages with Preview and insert comments or «post-it» yellow styled comments. You can also make red circles to signal what has to be changed and so on. Once it's done, save your PDF modified in Preview, and send it for collaborative work. Beware, all you comments cannot be edited afterwards.
Now, back to Pages: if you want to use it in a collaborative way, add Comments. Select something on the page of the Pages document, Menu Insert>Comment. Then send your Pages document (for example zipped) to your buddy equipped with Pages.
