    Hi!
Adobe Reader automatically lists all the PDFs on your device in it's file browser. You can toggle between the "All PDFs" view and "Folder View" in the "Documents" tab of the file browser.

  • I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing

I HATE my new MACBOOK PRO, it will not let me open any PDF files and I downloaded the ADOBE READER three freaking times and it keeps saying that all the files are corrupt or damaged. I would rather have my 2008 Dell at this point. what is wrong with this thing

Perhaps the PDF files are corrupted.
Hit the command key and spacebar, a blue Spotlight in the upper right hand corner appears, now type Preview and press return on the Preview program.
Now you can try opening the PDF's from the file menu and see what's going on.
If they are corrupted, perhaps they are trojans from your Windows PC or gotten from a bad location online.
Download the free ClamXav and run a scan on the possibly infected folder.

  • How do I prevent a PDF file from automatically downloading to my computer.

I've tried everything I know to Prevent a PDF file from automatically downloading to my computer. I would like the "Choice" of Read only or Download. HELP!!!

Google Chrome and I do, indeed, ;have the Adobe Reader/PDF installed. It continues to open to downloads and refuses to give me the option to select whether to download or read only.

  • Prevent .pdf files from automatically downloading in e-mail

How do you prevent .pdf files from automatically downloading in an e-mail message with an Exchange account?

    Yes, that's a plausible explanation.
Never having locked a Numbers document, I don't have first hand experience.
I put my sensitive documents in an encoded disk image file. Less bother. But then, I'm not e-mailing sensitive documents or otherwise exposing them.

  • Installed Adobe Reader, now .pdf files do not download automatically

    Hello,
Unfortunately, I recently had to download Acrobat Reader to complete a .pdf form with fancy menu fields. Now, whenever I click on an internet link to a .pdf file, Safari tries to open the document in a browser window, and seems to hang on a white screen. Sometimes I get a prompt asking me to locate Acrobat Reader. What a vile program... infecting other applications like that.
Previously, .pdf files would automatically download to my desktop when I clicked on a link to one. How do I restore this functionality? I would like all .pdf files to download automatically when clicked rather than being displayed in a browser window. Thanks very much.

  • I am unable to view PDF's online. must download first

I am unable to see PDF files on line.  When viewing a link that is a pdf I must download item first then open acrobat pro to view.  Any idea how I can fix it so I click and it automatically opens?

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

See [[Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows]]
You can have infinite tabs opening if you have selected Firefox as the application to handle a file if you get an ''Open with'' download window.
Firefox should not be selected as the application to handle a file and you have to remove the action that is associated with that file type.
You can delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/mimeTypes.rdf mimeTypes.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to reset all actions or set that action in Tools > Options > Applications to 'Always Ask'.

  • I would like to open a PDF file from my downloads and read it without all the resistance

When I try to open a PDF Adobe file from my downloads I get a screen that resists further use, I cannot open the file.  Adobe seems to suggest that I have to purchase something or that the file is corrupted.   All these files cannot be corrupted.  This should not be so difficult, in the 21st century. Would like to be a smooth user.

    Hi smoothuser,
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.
Please let me know which application of Adobe you are using including the version.
Attach a screen shot of the problem to get better understanding about the problem you are facing if there is an error.

  • Pdf files no longer download

Until a week ago I was able to quickly download any and all pdf files I chose. Then, without any indication of a change, now when I try to download a pdf file I get a blank white screen with no indication that anything is happening. The system is not locked-up or frozen, just not downloading.
I had installed the latest version of the Adobe Reader on my system, but thinking that the program might have become corrupted, I dumped it into the trash, went to the Adobe web site and downloaded and installed a fresh copy... but to no avail.
I have no idea what has gone wrong, or what to do now.

    Hi,
Have you tried changing the Adobe Reader preferences
to not use Reader as the plugin for web browsers? The
option to enable/disable is in the Internet section
    of the Reader preferences.
Thanks for your advice..I went into the Reader's preferences and unchecked the top box designating Reader to open pdf files. I went back and tried to download another pdf text and got this message: "attempted to load an Internet plug-in named “Adobe Acrobat and Reader Plug-in”, but the plug-in failed to load successfully."
    Got any other thoughts?

  • I cannot view pdf files with free download from Adobe. Simple

I cannot view pdf documents, since recent download of Adobe Reader. Click pdf doc, Adobe opens, but bleeps if I click anywhere on the screen, then closes.
Recently I tried to look at my Amex Statement online, but Adobe wouldn't show the file.
I downloaded the Statement, but every attempt to view, is futile!!!!!!
Today, I downloaded, Assistant and signed in. Also Adobe Air. But still the Statement cannot be viewed.
If this is a free download, why change the setup so the damn thing doesn't work, when downloaded. I don't want to view the "World", just 1 document. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. (Words of some intellect, I would say) (Please take note)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use the Adobe Cleaner to completely uninstall Reader. http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, download the full offline installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and run it to reinstall a good working copy of Reader.

  • Why is the pdf files will not download.

When we try to download a file the only PDF related program to open the file just extracts then gives a error sign. I am able to open current PDF file stored.

      A little grammatical error     .
When I try to download a file, the box ask what do I want to open it with.
I selected the adobe type icon.  It's a zip program or something, it
will unzip then gives a error message. I will have to do it to get the
    error message....        :D

  • I'm trying to find the pdf files that I downloaded on my ipad3.

i downloaded from tpt--a teaching website. i am sure they downloaded because a yellow bar appeared across the top of my screen. i have both acrobat reader and ibooks but the files are not there....

You have to manually save the files into one of this apps when you download a PDF from Safari. You can tap and hold down on the open PDF file when it is on the screen and a button pops up - the Open In button. You have to select the app that you want to save the file into. There should be a button in the upper right corner of the open PDF than says Open In. If you do not see it - tap on the screen while the PDF is opened and it should appear.

  • Unable view PDF files that I download

I am unable to view PDF file in Adobe Reader.  I have a pop-up that states "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser".  I have no idea where to accept the agreement, because it hasn't asked me to, and I have updated it.  Any suggestions??

Do exactly what the message says: open the Adobe Reader application (not in the browser!), then accept the EULA.
