PDF file name from servlet

Hi
we have a site from where users get PDF documents. every pdf document's name will vary from the user who is logged in currently.
When users right click on pdf icon and click save as they see the correct file name in there 'save as' dialog. however, when users click the pdf icon and open the pdf in a new window and then click file-saveas the file name is not correct and has default name of my servlet.pdf
right click save as works because of this

not sure if the problem is with the link but this is how the link is in my html file

Is it possible to change the default PDF file name from 'LabVIEW Document.pdf'?

My application uses the 'Automatically print front panel every time VI completes execution' functionality to print front panels. When I have my printer set to 'Adobe PDF', a dialog pops up and the default file name is 'LabVIEW Document.pdf'. Is there a way to programatically set the name to something other than 'LabVIEW Document.pdf'?
I've already found a solution that manipulates the Windows registry, and I'm looking for another option.

Just do something like

I am configuring one distribution Job in Broadcasting configuration Tab this Job need send a report via E-Mail in PDF Format, but the customer requirement is that the file name is sent with the description name and not with the technical name from report.
Then, some of you know "How change the name to the PDF File that is sent in the Distribution Jobs, I need the Description name, because actually the E-mail send the PDF File with the Technical Name, and the user does not want in that way".

Just upgraded to Lion, can't open any pdf file downloaded from the internet that was fine with Leopard before. I just got a black screen when I clicked on a pdf icon on a given internet site, and same happened with several sites that I visited. How can I overcome this obstacle ?

Try two things with Safari not running:
1) Launch Adobe Reader, open its preferences, select the Internet category, and check the values under "Display PDF in browser using". If it's checked, try unchecking it.
2) Look in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins (at the top-level of your boot volume) for something names AdobePDFViewer.plugin. If you see such a file, try moving it to a folder named "Disabled Plug-Ins" (if such a folder exists) or onto the Desktop.
Then see how things work.

How to get PDF file name when DESTYPE=CACHE

I'd like to retrieve the generated file name from the cache directory in the After Report trigger when DESTYPE=CACHE and DESFORMAT=PDF

It's not really the caching mechanism I'm interested in.
What I need to do is a physical modification of the generated PDF file.
We have done it successfully for DESTYPE=FILE because in this case
we know the name of the PDF file so the after report trigger can call an external dll library
that modifies the PDF file.
But when I'm calling the report from a JSP I can't do the same because
I don't know the name of the PDF.
Any ideas?

Can't visualise text on PDF files exported from PS

PDF files exported from PS (levels included as we need them to be selectable) have corrupted text. When opening the saved pdf file, a part of text doesn't appear. It is usually starting from the second chapter of text. Any idea of how to solve this problem?

For now we have only fixed this in CC, but we are aware this problem also affects CS6 users and is a significant problem for many people. At this time, I don't know of any workaround in CS6 for this bug other than to break text up into smaller blocks or use another more text-oriented application like InDesign. While I can't comment on future releases, your feedback on this issue is important to us, and I can say, "there's always hope"...

Mail Notification with Custom Subject, Mail Body and PDF File Name

I have successful configured the Action Profile to send SmartForm Mail as PDF. But i would like to modify the Subject, PDF File Name & add text to mail body when a mail is sent to the user.
The Subject of the Mail is the same as the PDF file name. How to maintain a pre-defined file name for the PDF file.

I was able to find a commercial product that works very well. MaxBulk Mailer from Max Programming allows you to import a list of recipients, merge with personalized message and designate an attachment (just image types and PDFs, not all types work) and send.

If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

How do I link to Anchor Text from browser to PDF file exported from InDesign?

I need a way to link to topics (from an HTML page) within a structured PDF file generated from InDesign, i.e. one that has an interactive bookmarks
panel, that doesn't break the links when the file is updated.
In particular, I don't want to refer to:
* page numbers because the document will repaginate when it is updated, breaking existing links
* named destinations that are numeric as addition/deletion of topics renumbers the named destinations, breaking the links.
Is there any option in InDesign that creates named destinations derived from bookmark titles as that would seem to solve my problem?
I have a similar need, but I have not been able to find an answer anywhere online, even after a several hours of research.
I am on contract with General Electric to develop a UI Style Guide for an international team of developers. My client wants to be able to distribute the Style Guide as a PDF document, but needs to provide links to specific topics when submitting a "Story" in an Agile development environment to the programmers.
Ideally, I would like to be able to create "named destinations" in InDesign such that I can provide the client with a list of URLs similar to this format:
file:\\StyleGuide\Test1-20131024a.pdf\#nameddest=AnchorText-01
However, I can not figure out how to create "named destinations" in the PDF file from the InDesign file in which I have created the Anchor Text in the Hyperlinks tab.

Having been using InDesign since 1988, when it was PageMaker, I would prefer to use it to provide GE with the most attractive deliverable, but they are now leaning heavily toward having me licensed with Madcap Flare, which has this capability built in:

I have just completed a phone call with Gaurev Sethi of Adobe escalated technical support in which I shared my screen to explain and demonstrate the desire to link from an external URL to a specific location within a PDF file that has been exported from InDesign. After 40 minutes, during which I was placed on hold a few times while he consulted with his team, it was determined that the desired functionality is not supported in InDesign and has been identified as a limitation of the software.
In researching alternate documentation software that supports PDF export, I discovered that Madcap Software supports this functionality in its Flare product:

Note that linking via URL to a bookmarked location within a PDF is not supported:

How to delete file names from Adobe Reader list

How can I delete file names from the Adobe Reader list? I have deleted the file & it's empty, but deleted file names remain in my list & it's very annoying. I can't seem to find an option anywhere to delete the file names.

I have set the amount to zero, & it seems if I want to put back valid files into my list I first need to find them in another file in my pc, such as documents, open them in Adobe Reader, & then then they will reappear in the Adobe Reader list. This seems to be the case, you need to restore each file you want in your list one by one by accessing them elsewhere on your pc, & then you must open them with Adobe Reader to have files reappear in your Adobe Reader list. However, this seems to be a tedious process if you only want to delete one obsolete file from your list by first emptying the list & rebuilding it file by file. It works, but I'm wondering if there is a more sensible & efficient way to do this?

How can I assign image file name from Main() class

I am trying to create library class which will be accessed and used by different applications (with different image files to be assigned). So, what image file to call should be determined by and in the Main class.

Your problem is one of timing. Consider this simple example.

Error while opening PDF file downloaded from database Blob column

Hi All,
I am working on jdev 11.1.1.4.0.
In my use-case I am using filedownload Actionlistner on a link to get the PDF file stored in the database in blob field. These files are being uploaded from other use-case in adf only.
After getting the dialog box to open/save/cancel for the PDF file when i click on open then i am getting an error *'Adobe Reader could not open 'abc.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type*
or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly docoded)' for some files , and to my surprise I am able to open some files.
When I open these PDF files separately from desktop I am able to view the content of each and every file in adobe reader.
I dont know where the problem exactly lies , while uploading/downloading the file . Any ideas/thoughts to resolve this issue?

I checked the PDF file downloaded directly from the blob column in DB, there only it is corrupted so must be the problem in uploading the file. I am checking the code line by line,, but no problem in setting the file content type,size etc.

The problem is resolved.
Changes made are instead of
InputStream is;
used ... BufferedInputStream bis ;
and after
