Pdf file not exporting data as xml

Hi
I have created a pdf form in adode livecycle version 8, I have saved it as a adobe acrobat 7 dynamic xml form.
when a user has completed the form I need to export the data as an xml file however there is no data from the form in the xml file.
does anyone know what the problem is?

Have you saved the PDF as Reader Extended PDF, Enable Additional Features to be able to save data's form?
You must do this is Adobe Acrobat Pro

Hi Gurus,
I have one report with excel and pdf out put .
excel is working fine but pdf is not displaying data showing blank page . both out puts are using same XML.
Intresting thing is if I open RTF from bi publisher desktop and load XML data then i can see all the records.
but The same RTF is not showing data from Report.
I don't know what is the wrong with RTF.

i have 2 outputs for this report excel and PDF.
after scheduling report excel is working fine but PDF out put is failure. i am getting following message.

Export data to XML from JSP possible?

I have a small JSP to retrieve data in a Browse form. Is there information on how to save information retrieved in a Browse (or Edit) form to XML output in order for a spreadsheet application (e.g. Excel) to pull up the data? I have not noticed this in the help files. Are there sample codes examples that illustrate this?
Is exporting data to XML even possible using JDeveloper 9.0.3?

You can call write XML on your ViewObject to get an XML representation.
If you are using IE you can change the content type for a page to :
<%@ page contentType="application/vnd.ms-excel" %>
This will open excel within your browser. It seems to deal nicely with any data in the page that is formatted in HTML <table> elements.

How do I create an interactive PDF file with variable data

We would like to basically do a 'mail merge' of our list of customers with an interactive PDF file (including videos, menus, etc - not just form fill out and web links) to create a single PDF file that contains multiple mail pieces ... one for each customer ... with each mail piece being customized for that customer. Customizations would include different greetings (Dear Bob, Dear Dana, etc), as well as different charts based on data unique to the customer, different photographs, etc.
I've seen that InDesign and Acrobat Professional can be used to create an interactive PDF (such as from http://tv.adobe.com/watch/ask-the-adobe-ones/14-calling-rufus-about-interactive-pdf-making). However I don't understand how I can insert data from a database, csv file, excel file etc into the PDF file so that each page, or each set of pages, within the PDF can be customized.
Can anyone point me to a tool to use for this?

For that kind of volume and unattended operation, you want InDesign Server – which is the server/high volume edition of INDD.

Pdf file not opening on pushing fdf file with F key in Adobe Reader

Well i am a novice developer in case of PDF Development.
The problem which i am facing is:-
In our application a PDF document submits the data to server and server sends back FDF to client with f key as http path of PDF which is present on web server.
This all works well in acrobat professional 7.0 but in abobe reader 8.0 the PDF file doesn't open up on pushing FDF.
On debugging the problem i found out that if server sends response within 480 milliseconds then reader is showing the pdf otherwise it don't shows up.Since in our application it will always take more than this time because of several operation performed to serve the request posted to server,So the
PDF will never show up in case of reader.
I was unable to understand what make it special in acrobat professional that session lasts more than 480 milliseconds whereas in reader the session doesn't last that long.
I really need uregent help on this.

I have 2 pages in all in a .PSE file.
When I try to export it as .PDF, the quality is very poor. I cannot change it to a better quality.
Please advise how I can export the file so that i can have better quality.

PDF File not opening in browser for sharepoint 2010

Recently we have moved our web application from one server to another in Sharepoint 2010. Back up of entire web application was taken and restored in another server. But in the new server , the PDF files in the document library is not getting opened in browser.
it always open in browser
I have already made following changes but didn,t work
Set browser file handling to Permissive from central admin
Set "open in browser" in setting s of doc library
Set the doc library file handling property using $docLib = $web.lists["Your Document Library Title"] $docLib.BrowserFileHandling = "Permissive" $docLib.Update()
Added "AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeType.Add("Application/Pdf") in web app
Installed Adober eader in client machine
Even after trying all these, the PDF files are still opening in Client application(Adobe reader) but not in the browser
It would have been great help if anybody provide a solution for this. I have been banging head on this for two days

Do you have pdf2ps presented in the PATH of applmgr user?
Did you run the concurrent program with (number of copies = 1)?

Prepopulating PDF Fillable Forms with data from XML files

How can I get a PDF fillable form to open pre-populated with data from an XML file automatically? I've been using Adobe Standard 9.0 and am willing to upgrade in a modest fashion if necessary. I am aware of the Navigation method > Forms > Manage Form Data > Import Data. This works fine, however, my users are not smart enough to do tis much clicking and selecting. Is there an automated way to have this XML data merged into the PDF file on the fly. These files will reside on an internal local area network and will be operated on local PC's that will probably have Acrobat Reader ONLY. I have been told that the only way to accomplish this is through Java Scripting. I would prefer to do this the 'old fashioned' way of command line switches, but that does not appear to be an option. Does anyone have a sample Javascript that would accomplish what I am trying to achieve. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest way is:
- Open your PDF form within Acrobat
- From the File menu, import the XML form data into the form
- From the File menu, use Save As... to save the file with a new name.
The new PDF will be identical to the original one, but will have the data embedded in it. Voila.
If you want the same form to pre-populate with different XML files depending on the circumstances, or if you're generating the XML on the fly, then things get more complicated. (And more expensive.) As your consultant said, LiveCycle Forms is one option, but it is expensive (actually even more than 10K). There are other options, including Cold Fusion, custom servlets, etc.

PDF books not exported in XML library

I just migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7. I used my ITunes Library XML, and iTunes Playlist I'd previously saved to move and restore my iTunes music and video library. That worked great,though I did have to re-tag some video files as "TV shows"
My iTunes library had tons of PDF files that I read on my iPad. These did NOT get exported to the iTunes LIbrary XML. Is this expected?
Looks like I'll have to manually re-add each of these. Is there any way to create an XML (or other exported file) so I can save these as part
of a library?
Also, what file naming convention is used for PDF files. I'd prefer not to re-add each file, then use "Get Info" to specify the author.
I assume the format is something like <Authoer>-<Title>, but I can't find this in my searches of community articles.

If you'd copied the whole library, lock, stock, barrel, and most importantly the iTunes library.itl file, then it should have been as if nothing had changed.

Hyperlinks to pdf files not working when project is exported out as SWF and uploaded to server

hI all
I'm using CS5 and i have hyperlinks to pdf files in my indesign project. However when i export to SWF, although the links work locally, they do not work when i upload all the relevant folders and files and test it from a server the links to the pdfs can not be found, the error messages indicates its looking for the files on my hard drive. I have also noticed that if i copy all the relevant folders and files and exported swf to a different directory and then launch swf from there the links do not work there either.
Other than seperately uploading each pdf indvidually on to the server and then creating a hyperlink to it from the local indesign project i don't know what else to do.
Any advice much appreciated.

I have your same problem, but didn't consider uploading the PDFs and then linking to them. I'm willing to try it. Let me know if you ever found a better way, ok?

Can Acrobat create a PDF file not viewable after some date and/or number of times being opened?

Is it possible to restrict the usability of a PDF file in such fashion, regardless of which Adobe product tries to open the file, especially even when the file is opened with Acrobat Reader for example? If yes, does it require accessing Adobe's website or the solution could be totally 'stand alone'?
Any other ideas about restricting the usage of a PDF file, using Acrobat or any other tool?

In Design Data merge into separate pdf files with variable data name

Hi all, thank you for taking the time to read this.
Here's what I have.
I've created a file in indesign using a 65 page document.
With this document I've set it up to have specific data in certain areas with data merge. I have that part setup and it works fine.
When I go to export PDF it creates one massive pdf document with all the variable data in it. However here is the scenario I would like.
1. Indesign to create a separate pdf file for each record. So in this example it would be 100 different 65 page pdfs since it should have different pdfs for each record and there are 100 records in the csv.
2. The pdf should be named after each variable record. For example record one says name "Joe", record 2 name "Frank". So it should create joe.pdf, frank.pdf etc.
How can I accomplish this?
