PDF FILE TYPE ON HP M1319FMFP

I have recently upgraded my computer fron 32bit to 64 bit. Operating sytem Windows 7 Home premium.
Since the upgrade I can only find TIF, BMP,JPG,PNG file types to scan to and not PDF as previously. I have downloade the relevant driver after the upgrade.
Can somebody please help?
This question was solved.

Hi @plasie ,
I see by your post that you no longer have the option to save the scan as a PDF, since upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit.
I would like to help.
The drivers are a Hostbase Plug and Play drivers. There isn't a Full Feature Software driver with the extra scanning software for saving the scans to a PDF format. You would have to use a Third Party Software.
You can download a scan to PDF software, by doing a search over the internet.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

You can copy the contents and paste it into a Word file. Just don't expect everything to transfer or to retain all of the formatting.

  • PDF File Type Icon Not Displaying HELP!!!

    Hey guys!
I have a quick question that I need resolved. Make sure you READ before you respond as people seem to be having trouble with this one.
Something happened on my system to where .pdf files aren't displaying the PDF file type image anymore. They're just displaying the Windows default non-associated file icon.
But the weird thing is that the .pdf file type IS associated with Adobe Acrobat, and when double clicked they DO open in Acrobat.
I checked inside of Acorbat.dll and the file type icon IS in there...so this is leading me to believe that something is messed up in the registry to where Windows doesn't know to link a .pdf with the icon inside of Acrobat.dll.
So my question is this...how do I RELINK the .pdf file type with the PDF file type icon located inside of Acrobat.dll???

Before you start editing the registry try the suggestions given in the FAQ:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bbc2da9
failing that try doing a repair of acrobat from the help menu.
If still no joy let us know.

  • PDF File Type 'Opens with' ignored

We have systems with both Acrobat 8 and Reader 9.1 installed.  On those systems, double-clicking a PDF file opens the file with Acrobat 8, even though the 'Opens with' setting under Folder Options -> File types is set to Reader 9.1.  Why is our instruction being ignored?  How do we make the system use Reader 9.1 to open PDF files?
    Geof

If you are on a Windows machine, maybe this is one of the reasons why it is recommended not to install both Acrobat and Reader in the same computer.

  • .pdf File Type Extension reverts to nothing after restart

Adobe reader works correctly however after I restart the computer the Default File Type Extension resets to nothing for .pdf extensions.
I have reinstalled Adobe reader, done sfc /scannow, used a registry repair, manually changed the file extension type through windows.
Again everything works, and after I change the file extension type it will stay changed until restarting the computer then it reverts to no known file type extension and I have to right click open with.
Thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.

If you look at your PDF files with Windows Explorer (after the extension has "disappeared"), what does it show in the Type column?

  • Photosmart C5580: PDF File type option has disappeared from Scan Shortcut Settings under Documents

For 6 years I have used PDF as the file type for scanning documents.  Yesterday it switched to TIFF.  This creates files of ~8.5 MB per scanned page.
The PDF option does no longer show in the dropdown menu.  Remaining options are:
Bitmap, TIFF, TIFF Compressed, JPEG, GIF, PNG, PCX and FlashPix.
How do I get PDF back on the list.
    I run Vista Home Premium

    Hi @vliegendeboer ,
I see that you are having issues with the PDF option missing from the scanning software. I would like to help.
In the HP Solution Center Software, select the option to change settings, select Save to File Save Options, on the File Type, try and select PDF and press OK. I don't have the exact Version 12 software you are using to go by, but the steps should be similiar.
If you are still not able to select PDF ,download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it.Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?

  • I want to edit the application associated with pdf files, but the pdf file type is not available on the Applications tab under edit preferences. How do I add file types?

I am running Firefox 5.0 (Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0) under Kubuntu 11.04.

Thanks jscher2000, I tried your suggestion, but no joy (as expected). None of the extensions were .bin, and in fact, I can't find a single listing for handling the .bin extension in the entire (unfiltered) list.
That's why I'm so confused. Where is Firefox getting the name "VLC.bin (default)" from in the first place?
cor-el, I checked out the link that you posted.
I don't have an entry for "browser.download.pluginOverrideTypes" and the entry "plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types" was empty (default setting).
My bad, but I forgot to mention in my first post that I had also tried renaming the mimetypes.rdf file in my "Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxx.default\" to .old to no avail.
Firefox created a new, almost empty file, but it didn't change the behavior for .bin files. I removed the new file and put the old file back in place after determining that clearing the file did not help, since I am otherwise happy with my current file-type options.
However, since the option to "Always perform this action" is grayed-out, I am looking into the possibility that the website is sending a misconfigured MIME type or is assigning "Content-Disposition: attachment" to the download. What's odd, though, is that I've never had problems getting binary files from the site in the past, and the problem started when the VLC player was installed.
I'll post back after I check into the server header data.

  • PDF does not remain in the Registered file types list

I've installed Adobe Reader X. The PDF file type was not automatically associated with Adobe Reader. So, I went through the standard process of adding it to the Windows Registered file types. It does not remain in the list. I've checked the box to "Always use the selected program.....", but when I reopen the Registered File types window, PDF is not there. PDFX is there and registered to open with Adobe Reader, but not PDF.

I forgot to mention, I'm running Windows XP SP3.

  • Changing "file type" in Link Information Window (CS3)

    Hola,
I am having a problem in Indesign (CS3), and I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help.
I'm a student updating an older .INDD file for a 47 page book. The pages were all updated as .AI files, but for some reason
3 of the pages in our InDesign document were assigned a .PDF "file type" in the Link Information window.  When I try and "Relink" to the updated .AI files,
the program won't link to the .AI file. It will properly re-link to a .PDF version of the file.
Is there a way to reset that "file type" in the Links Window from .PDF to .AI?
Ultimately I can use .PDF versions for this, but I'd prefer to have them all .AI files.
That would be cleaner and easier for the next students down the road who are going
to inheriet this project.  It seems like this should be an easy thing to do, but I can't figure it out...
Thank you very much for any information you can provide.
    ¡Muchas gracias!
    Javier

    Hola,
Thank you for the quick reply!  I now suspect that I didn't correctly identify the problem.
In the Links Panel for 44 of the 47 pages, they read pathname/*.AI, so no problem there (although the file type is also .PDF in the link window for those 44 pages that can link to the .AI).
For three of the pages though, when I try and link them to pathname/*.AI, I get an error message in the document that indicates that "this is an Adobe Ilustrator file that was saved without PDF content".  When I relink those three to pathname/*.pdf, they work.
So I'm thinking at this point that the problem isn't Indesign, but with the original .AI files that I'm trying to link to. I also suspect that my original idea to change the "file type" in the Links Panel to ".AI" is incorrect, since it's a .PDF file type for all of the 47 pages in this document!
    ¡Muchas gracias!
    Javier

  • How to sign a pdf file and save it directly back to sharepoint site?

    Hello,
I own a Sharepoint site for testing. It is installed in my computer with Sharepoint 2010 (WSS). What I want to do is to find a way to achieve a signing function for pdf file type on sharepoint.
By refer to this site below, the site has been able to recognize pdf file type and open it and edit it directly on the sharepoint site.
    http://www.portalsolutions.net/Blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40
I can edit the pdf file by checking out and then the modification will be save directly back to the pdf file in the shared document library when I am done. Now the problem is, I cannot save the pdf directly back to sharepoint after I inserted a digital signature
    to the pdf file.
Everytime I inserted a digital signature to the pdf file, a "save as..." window would pop up and asked me to save the signed pdf file as another file in my local computer, so the changes were not applied to the original pdf file on the shared document library
of my sharepoint site. I have to upload the local signed version back to the site and replace the old one manually.
    Any suggestion? Thank you.
    Mengxin Wu

    Hi,
According to my analysis, for Digital Signatures: Adobe has changed the behavior around digital signatures and SharePoint-hosted PDF files. Now, when digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file, it will be saved directly to SharePoint if that PDF file
is already checked out. If not, the user will be prompted to check it out. When digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file in Acrobat X, Version 10.0, the user would be prompted to save that file locally and would then need to upload it separately to SharePoint
    as a new version.
I suggest that you use Acrobat X, then check the result. For more information about Acrobat X, please refer to
    http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/2011/06/whats-new-in-acrobat-x-version-10-1.html
In addition, you can also consider the following third-party tool:

  • Pdf files in search results - open the properties paga instead the file

    Hi,
We have 2010 search results page for searching files. When the search result is a pdf - the icon shown is not pdf icon and when click the file name it opens the properties page instead the file itself. What should be set? thanks a lot

It looks like you didn't register PDF file type in your search service application.
Go to Central Administration->Manage Service Application. Click on the name of your search service application and check file types (link in the left column)

  • Unable to associate PDF files to Acrobat Standard 7 after latest reader 9 patch

    I am unable to
make PDF files open as Acrobat standard 7 as my default PDF viewer. I have tried to right click open with, more, browse to acrobat standard 7 folder, coose acrobat program, then open. The acorbat standard 7 program never gets listed in the other programs list. I have also deleted the pdf file type extension and browsed over to Acrobat standard 7 folder and chose program and it still opens in Reader 9.  The one bright sopt in all this is I still have the right click open with Acrobat Standard 7 listed.
My users want to just open PDF attachments from outlook without having to save the PDF's first to thier hard drive, open with acrobat standard 7, then save them again, then reattach to to email and foward on with approval stamp. This is on at least 2 machines, an Xp and Vista machine.

    OK Here is my fix.
I reran the Acrobat Standard 7 install from control panel and chose to "Repair" the installation. After rebooting I could just double click on a PDF and it opens up in Acrobat Standard 7.

  • AirDrop & Photoshop "psd" file types?

I downloaded OSX Yosemite yesterday and tried AirDrop to send a Adobe Photoshop "psd" file type from my 2014 MBP w/Retina to my iPhone 5 but with no success.
"jpg & pdf" file types work.  Both a layered and flattened Photoshop "psd" file didn't go through.
I did a little more research and found that "psd" image file types can't be saved to the iPhone Photos app.  This is probably causing the file not to be received on the iPhone.
Has anybody had any other file types unable to be transferred via AirDrop?  Im guessing only files types that can be opened / viewed on iOS devices can take advantage of AirDrop.

If you open the image as a tiff an save that what is the filesize and what is the psd’s filesize?
Salvaging the damaged file may not be possible, how it was damaged is another issue.

  • Change default file types

I have been using Adobe Acrobat to view PDF's and it stoped working correctly. I have decided to use Preview because I don't tend to use Adobe's advanced features. But, I can't seem to get Finder to stop associating the PDF file type with Adobe Acrobat. I tried deleting Adobe Acrobat but Finder simply will not open PDF files. I tried the open with....and checking always use this as a default application, but it doesn't work. Is there some file or app that can edit file types and default applications?
    Thanks,
    Lee

Your personal preferences for applications/files associations are stored here:
    "/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plist"
If that file has become corrupt then it wouldn't reflect the change you wish to make. Try moving it to the Desktop, log out and back in and try again.
Additionally, these cache files are generated by system, specifying general application/file associations, and can also become corrupt:
    "/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-014501.csstore"
    "/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-0140.csstore"
If you have additional users there will be additional csstore files, one for each user. They can also be moved to the Desktop. A restart will cause the system to create new ones.
