PDF files are stored to /usr/sap/ SID SYS/global
True or False --> When a PDF file is generated from within SAP the spool file is stored in /usr/sap/<SID>SYS/global
After a recent upgrade to ECC 6 I'm noticing that a large number of SPOOL* files are in the global directory. Each spool file has 3 components a SPOOL.cfg, SPOOL.xfd and a SPOOL*.ps file .When I examine the spool number using SP01 I see that these jobs all have an output type of PDF. Only files of type PDF appear in the global directory. It does not matter which output device is used. No output device in my system is defined to write to the global directory. Everything is set up to store files to the database.
My assumption is that the generation of a PDF format requires a temporary storage area to convert the data from the "Device Type" setting for the printer (such as Postscript or HPGL) to the PDF format and that the /usr/sap/<SID>SYS/global directory is used for this purpose.
Is there a parameter setting that allows me to modifiy this "conversion" location?
Assumptions:
---> You are running on Unix - I don't have instructions for Windows, but they would be analogous
---> Your System ID is TX1
---> 2Gb is big enough to hold your Adobe files
1.) Create a 2Gb file system named /AdobeFiles
2.) Create the required directories under this new file system
- For example: /AdobeFiles/300ADSP
3.) Verify that the user <sid>adm can write to the directory created in step 2
4.) Apply SAP note 1327372
5.) Rename the filesystems that SAP note 1327372 creates
- For example: mv /usr/sap/TX1/SYS/global/300ADSP /usr/sap/TX1/SYS/global/300ADSP-ORG
6.) Create a symbolic link for the required directory to the directory created in step 2
- For example: ln -s /AdobeFiles/300ADSP /usr/sap/TX1/SYS/global/300ADSP
7.) Test your link
cd /usr/sap/TX1/SYS/global/300ADSP
touch TestFile
cd /AdobeFiles/300ADSP/TestFile
Your file should have been created in /AdobeFiles/300ADSP

ADS: Can't find /usr/sap/ SAPSID /SYS/global/AdobeDocumentServices
Hello experts,
I try to run Adobe Document Service on NetWeaver CE 7.1 (only a java Stack), but I can't find the directory /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/global/AdobeDocumentServices/ .. I think, ADS wasn't install during system installation Can anybody help me? It's not explained in the manual https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-46489 ..
Thanks and best regards,
MaxHi,
Looks like ADS usage type was not selected during installation.
In order to ensure if ADS usage type check box was checked or not during installation, goto the SAPINST log files that were written during installation. By default this is written in D:\ drive unless and until specified otherwise.
Search for summary.html in this SAPINST log folder. This html file will clearly explain which usage type was selected during installation.
In case you need ADS, you can run SAPINST again and this time select "Install Additional Usage type" option in the first screen.

MohsinHi Gaurav,
I got the issue, problem was that the reginfo and secinfo on my ABAP system which was connected to my JAVA system, it was not allowing the requests to pass through and hence it was not getting registered. I deactivated the parameters of reginfo and secinfo and its now working fine.
I will look into the issue of where i went wrong with reginfo/secinfo -
Portal can not work with abnormal increased /usr/sap/SID file space
hi experts,
I got a problem today on our HR portal.
At first I can't login the nwa, then I checked tha OS of portal, I saw that the file system /usr/sap/SID's used spaces increase very quickly, though I increase the free spaces for emergency use, the portal still can not work and the free space is still missing. I just solved by restart the SAP service.
Did anyone face the same problems before?
System information
OS --> AIX v5.3
Database --> Oracle 10.2.0.2
SAP --> netweaver 2004s SP12.Hi,
This happens when your archive log file of the application increases,
Check the folder usr/sap/sid/instance/j2ee/cluster/server0/log/archive folder this is the reason for your disk space increase. Just take a backup and delete the files in the archive folder (except temp folder).
The deletion of older archive files is not handeled by SAP, you have to manually delete the archive logs.

Vamshi. -
We are getting error message "Wily BC patch /usr/sap/<SID>/JC06 is not a directory while doing managed systems setup. System verification is successful. The Java directory should be /usr/sap/<SID>/J06 in our case, which is showing correctly in LMDB. Any idea?
I have done the usual resynch SLD, Rerun system verification and reset managed systems configuration etc.Hi Tariq,
Please enter complete path like below and check :
/usr/sap/<ManagedSID>/<InstanceID>/ByteCodeAdapter
Also check below SAP note for details :
1943583 - Wily Agent Directory files are Missing after Network loss - Solution manager 7.1
Hope this helps.
Thanks & Regards,

How to upload a PDF-file and send it by SAP Mail
Hi,
we need to attach a pdf-file to an email send by SAP. The file is stored in a SAP-directory. When I use Open dataset to get the file it works but when sent by email the file could not be opened. I guess that perhaps I have to use other parameters to get the PDF in a correct file but I don't know which ones. Here is part of the coding I use for testing:
TYPES: BEGIN OF typ_pdf,
line(255),
END OF typ_pdf.
DATA: it_pdf TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF typ_pdf,
wa_pdf LIKE LINE OF it_pdf.
v_file = '/pool//Test.pdf'.
OPEN DATASET v_file FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING NON-UNICODE.
WHILE ( sy-subrc EQ 0 ).
READ DATASET v_file INTO wa_pdf.
IF NOT wa_pdf IS INITIAL.
APPEND wa_pdf TO it_pdf.
ENDIF.
CLEAR wa_pdf.
ENDWHILE.
CLOSE DATASET v_file.

I am using Adobe 8 Professional and working on Windows XP. I have been facing an issue lately with opening files in a dual-monitor environment. All my Adobe Reader (PDF) files are opening only in the secondary monitor by default. There are times when I work only in one monitor and when I open a PDF file and want to have a look at it, I have to connect another monitor to view that file, since this file is open in the secondary monitor. It is very disappointing with such instances happening with Adobe (a leading organization). Can you please help so that the Adobe Reader files open in the primary monitor by default?
On a Windows system disable the preview of Windows Explorer.

Ok i have indesign CS6 and all files are stored on a 10.7.5 MAC server. This just started happening. When I open a file indesigns is creating a textfile in the same folder? I need some help on this.
Ask in the ID forum and be much more specific about your configuration. there could be any number of reasons why manifests, temp files or restore files are created.

PDF files are not opening in IE!!!
Some PDF files are not displayed while opening in browser IE . The PDF files are generated through servlets (JWS 2.1). While analysing the problem we have found that the one request invokes the doget() method of the servelet more than once. This problem is not appearing in netscape.
Please give suggestions.I am having the same sort of problem. I have a form posting to a servlet that displays a pdf based on the vars posted to it. My doPost() calls doGet(). When I post to the the servlet the doPost() is called and then it calls the doGet() and then SOMETHING else calls the doGet() again. Since the vars that I am using to load the pdf are posted they are out of scope for the second doGet(). I tried two things to fix this:
I changed my doPost() method to do nothing but check the request variables and hold on to them. Then I changed my doGet() to use the values that I held instead of the request vars. This only worked sometimes.
Then when I rolled all of my code back and changed my form from POST to GET everything worked fine. It seems that there is something that causes the browser to always call the GET when you are using application/pdf. If my doPost() calls my doGet() everything is lost on the second doGet()
