PDF Files don't load

Get a black screen. Can down load and read with preview.
Also, Safari won't load in 32 bit. Message says that adblocker loader
causing it.

HI,
Go to ~/Library/Internet Plugins and see if the adblock file is there. Might be in the ~/Library/Input Managers folder also.
~ (Tilde) represents your Home Folder.
Once you have removed adblock, right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 64 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.
Relaunch Safari. Now try viewing a PDF file in Safari.

  • Will going from Reader 3.1 to 5 cause loss of any files stored as PDF files done with 3.1?

Presently use Firefox Reader v. 3.1.4. Many files on my desk computer, operating on XP Pro, are stored in PDF files done with the 3.1.4 version. If I up date to the new 5.0 will these old files still open? Or will they be lost?
Worse case if FireFox Reader was to be removed from my computer what happens to these older files that were saved using Firefox Reader 3.1.4?
I am not experiencing any problems now, but the above questions are a concern, especially as this old computer continues to age.
    Thanks very much,

Hi, thanks for the very quick reply, although it doesn't really answer my question. As for not finding a Fire Fox Reader vr. 5 you should go to this link.
    http://download.cnet.com/Foxit-Reader/3000-10743_4-10313206.html
I'd appreciate any comments you have about this PDF reader in regard to my original question.
It all could be a mute point, mush like changing versions of Adobe, nothing seems to be lost or changed in the saved pdf files when changing versions in Adobe. Possibly Fire Fox 5 operates the same.

  • PDF Files do not load at all

I have a client who loads pdf files from a central website on their intranet, on the majority of their machines, after selecting the pdf that they want to view, a blank frame loads in safari, with an error message that reads "can't find host"
On machines that it does work, the same blank frame opens, but after that acrobat launches and loads the proper pdf, in the access window on these machines it reads "Frame load interrupted"
I have checked all of the settings between the computers, and they are all set up the same way, and are all using the same versions of the software.
Any suggestions on how to get this working correctly on all the computers would be very helpful.

    Hi Jason,
I have checked all of the settings between the computers, and they are all set up the same way, and are all using the same versions of the software.
What are the settings to view PDF's in Safari??

  • PDF files don't display or save from websites

I am unable to now download and save a PDF file from a website.  I get either a blank window when I click on the PDF file link, or a message during the attempt to save that reads "The document “filename.pdf” could not be exported as “filename.pdf”."  I am also unable to print the file from a website or save as a PDF.
This problem is a recent development, occurring in both OS X 10.7.3 and 10.7.4 on my MacBook.  It occurs in both Safari 5.1.6 and Firefox 4.0.1.  Since it occurs on more than one browser, I'm pointing towards the OS. I use Adobe Reader 10.1.3.
The problem does not occur on my MacBook Pro using OS X 10.6.8, using an older version of Safari.
I just updated from X 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 but with no results.  I uninstalled Reader and reinstalled.  Same results.  Reader opens other PDF files on my hard drive with no difficulty.
    Suggestions?

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

I am not one to recommend reinstall, but that might be required. One of the problems with CC is that it leaves some info in the system that makes it think it is installed, even after you uninstall it. There is a fix for that, but I don't remember it (right now I am not remembering much with pneumonia). If you decide to uninstall, you should go through the uninstall process (there may be a special uninstall for CC that I have not seen). Then run Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs. Remove any leftover part of the Acrobat folder, reboot, and reinstall. It may reinstall or you might run into that other fix that is needed. In that case you will have to search the forum.

  • I can not print more than page one of PDF file I have loaded with 2013 version Firefox; I am able to with IE. Vista Home Prem is my OS and I have a 64 bit Dell

I have the most current version of MS Home Premium Vista. I run it on a 64 bit Dell Studio Laptop.
I have just started suing Mozilla Firefox 2013 Beta version.
I usually used Firefox vs IE as my browser and have my Yahoo email set as my home page.
When I tried to print a a several page PDF file I was accessing using Firefox, all it it print previewed and ultimately printed was page one. This happened regardless of the PDF file (e.g. those on the IRS.gov website). When I switch over to Internet Explorer and try to read the same files, I have no problem.
On 2012 versions of Firefox I had no PDF printing problem. I do think there is a bug in the latest version.

Top left (Orange) Firefox button, Print, Print Preview. Does everything look correct? You may also click the icon that looks like a "DISK" to save, which allows you to save it to your computer and CTRL+P will allow you to print.

  • Embedded PDF files don't work in viewer

We embed PDF files on our web pages using the following code:
    <iframe src = "URL" width = "100%" height = "800px" style="z-index:1000;"></iframe>
    <!-- <object data="URL" type="application/pdf" width="100%" height="100%"></object> -->
When I use Acrobat Pro XI to create the PDF file the web page brings up a typical download prompt. When my coworker uses Acrobat Pro XI her file opens cleanly (she creates it on her computer, but both times I'm viewing the web page on my computer/my browser). Happens in all browsers. [ link removed by moderator ]
We both follow the same steps to create the file:  File > Open > select file. Then Tools > Action Wizard >Optimize for Web and Mobile.
We assume there is some setting Acrobat Pro that's different between our two computers but for the life of us can't figure out what. If anyone has any ideas we'd love to hear them.
    Thanks.

Then why do the pdfs render differently in the viewer (or not at all) if the browser is the same, the plugin settings are the same, and the HTTP headers sent by the website are the same?
    Examples:
    My PDF file:
Same code, same browser, coworker's PDF file:

  • Downloaded PDF files don't show description or "i" link to summary

I am including a PDF file in a podcast. The xml has both an <itunes:subtitle> section and an <itunes:summary> section for the PDF <item>.
Before the PDF file is downloaded in iTunes the subtitle shows in the description column and the summary is available via the "i" link on the right side of the description column.
After the PDF file is downloaded in iTunes both the subtitle/description text and the "i" link disappear.
There seems to be no way to access that information once the PDF is downloaded. The same issue does not affect audio or video files.
Does anyone know if this is by design (why?) or is it a bug in iTunes?

I'm not sure i know what you mean because there's nothing to configure there. All you can do, is tick boxes and the dimension boxes are all ticked - you can see so in the screenshot otherwise they wouldn't show up. I also unticked "hide empty fields" because otherwise, it won't show them either. Yesterday I went through the entire list to see if there was more meta data that contained dimensions but there's none.

  • PDF files don't show dimensions data

I work in a printing office and we have a file server full of PDF files (made with Illustrator CS1-> CS4). Before, we used a custom search program to search for PDF files but we came to the conclusion that it would be handier to use Bridge to search, because we'd get a thumbnail AND get the additional metadata (allowing us to sort according to size, colours, etc.)
The problem is, when I display a list of all our PDFs in Bridge, the "Dimensions in cm" in Metadata is empty! The only dimensions I see, are in pixels which, as you can imagine, is useless to us. Despite this, Acrobat correctly shows the file size in milimeters as you can see below (left screenshot). It remains a mystery to me why Bridge (made by the same company!) isn't capable of displaying this info which acrobat can clearly extract.
Is there a way to fix this? It seems like a glaring oversight if not - the option is clearly there but none of our PDFs show it.

  • PDF file does not load

Just downloaded  Adobe Reader. A file will not load to the reader and then it clicks off.  Never happened before.  Running WIN 7.

Are these local or online documents?  If online, in what browser?
Sorry, I do not understand the meaning of "clicks off".

  • PDF files don't display on mobile devices after a GWIA upgra

    Hi everybody,
After the upgraded to version 2014, the GWIA was very problematic that the Novell Engineer decided to delete the GWIA object and recreate it. The problem was that I forgot and he forgot to take screen shoots of the GWIA configuration pages before deleting the object. Now all the emails forwarded by using the rule set as "Forward as an attachment to:" action come in as MIME format attachments files just like they did before the upgrade but now the attached pdf, doc. etc files got remove/destroy before they get on the iPhones and other mobile devices. In addition, the emails dont display the original sender email address on the From: field. The same emails open fine in the workstations. I got the impression that the Novell Engineer who deleted/recreated my GWIA object does not even want to deal with this issue. I opened a service ticket with Novell tech support; I was put in the GW queue for close to 3 hours and nobody seemed to be interested in taking my case. The system keeps transferring my case to the CSR queue. Any ideas how to fix this issue?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Firstly, please give us your SR number - thank you
Secondly, are your mobile devices accessing e-mail via WebAccess, GroupWise Mobility Server, or POP3/IMAP? Also, when you say the original sender's e-mail address does not display in the "From" field, may I ask what, if any, address is displayed there?
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
    Cheers,
