Pdf files viewable in ibooks but not in adobe reader?

I can open and view pdf files in ibooks but i downloaded adobe reader and they arent even showing up. The file is a text book and is too big to email myself. any suggestions?

Adobe recommends against have different versions of the same application installed at the same time. They also discourage having Reader and Acorbat installed at the same time. I would install version 6 and repair or reinstall version 9.

I have been trying to figure out why my .PDF file was not searchable in Adobe Reader X. I downloaded and installed FoxIt PDF software to see if it was a problem only in Adobe Reader X and to my amazement it was Adobe Reader X that is the failure. But why? I'm having the same issue. I saved a PDF from an email into iBooks. I'm on apple applying for a job but the only option the upload button has is from the Photos file. How ironic right? Luckily I'm in Logistics and not an IT specialist applying for this job! Lol. Does anyone know the fix?

I have created a pdf from a word-file and inserted formfields for a work related file. I've used nitro pro to create the formfield. They works in nitro, reader, foxit etc. but not adobe reader. From page 3 and out, the font wont show when writing in a formfield. Some formfield doesnt even show.
Please help me fix this (hopefully before the presentation at work friday) :-)

Agreed. Adobe makes no claims that their Reader will work properly with forms made from third party software.

Pdf files opening in acrobat but not ie

hello all, i'm having a problem opening pdf files in internet explorer instead of acrobat 9. the "Display PDF in browser" box is checked under Edit > Preferences... and i've opened regedit and watched as bBrowserIntegration registry key is deleted and re-written while checking and unchecking that box. i've tried a complete uninstall/re-install of acrobat twice, once running ccleaner after uninstalling to clear unused registry keys. this problem is localized to that particular user. logging them off and logging on with a local account, pdf files from the internet open just fine with ie8. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

My sister-in-law has this PDF order form from one of her company's distributors that opens and allows editing of specific fields.
The only application that opens the file correctly (visually and functionally) is the Windows 8 Reader. If I open the file in Adobe Reader or with the Mac viewer things do not line up, fonts are too large, and when editing fields sometimes symbols show up and sometimes way over-sized numbers show up.
This behavior has been observed on both a Windows 8.1 PC as well as on a Mac Book Air.
Can someone please tell me why this is happening? Is there something that needs to be configured differently?

Adobe ExportPDF and PDF Pack services have the tool to export your PDF files to PPTX files and below are the steps how to do:
Using Web UI:
Log into https://exportpdf.acrobat.com/signin.html or https://createpdf.acrobat.com/signin.html with your Adobe ID and password
Select “Export from PDF”
Click “Select Files” button then choose your PDF file
Select the format from the list below
Check ON “Recognized text in” if your PDF file is scanned images to recognize the image to text
Click “Export” button
Click “Download” button in the progress bar after completion of exporting to download the file to your computer.
Download Files:
All exported files are stored at https://files.acrobat.com and you can login with your Adobe ID and password.
Or at Web UI you can click “FILES” next to “TOOLS” at top or click “View All files” in the file list of “Export from PDF” tool

If you can't view PDF files in Safari, take these steps.
Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Want to add by code a short cut of a pdf file to an rtb in vb6, using adobe reader 9

Using vb6 code, I add a pdf file from a list to a richtextbox.
On versions 5 & 6 a "short cut" is placed in the rtb which is what I want so that the document can be double-clicked to view at a later date.
On versions 8 & 9 the file opens automatically "within" the rtb.
Can I make version 9 work the same as earlier versions.

We have PDF documents stored on server-side, the ActiveX control and Adobe Reader are installed on client-side.
When users open our web page, click our "Print weekly report directly" button, the ActiveX control on client will be called, and perform the above coding. It tries to download the PDF document from server to client, and pass it to the printer on client silently by using FilePrintSilent function.
The report can be printed, but not correct. It involves some unexpected characters which should be English or Traditional Chinese originally, as shown in the attached picture.

How to have Adobe PDF files stored on SharePoint 2013 open in Adobe Reader?

I am having troubles having Adobe PDF files open within Adobe. The PDF files are opening within the browser, like Internet Explorer.
In the document library, I have "Use the server default (Open in the client application)", sent but
this has no affect.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Form Sends Email from Adobe Pro X but not from Adobe Reader x

I have windows 7, adobe pro X and adobe reader X, and thunderbird 9.01 email client.
I have a PDF form (created in lifecycle 9.0.0.2_) that is complete and is reader extended though adobe pro x.
It will send the email correctly in abobe pro x, it opens all the correct windows etc and sends, and I receive the filled out PDF form.
When I open the form in adobe reader X it opens the correct window as before, but never sends the email.
Can any one here be of some help.

Did you reader extend the form?
Open the form in Adobe Acrobat PRO.
Goto Advanced menu -> Enable usage rights in Adobe Reader and save file..

Safari won't display pdf in browser and I do not have adobe reader or ply ins

I've been checking the posts and all the discussions/questions and answers but the only thing I have been able to find about problems displaying pdfs in browser have to do with adobe plug-ins. I never had adobe reader and checked in /library/internet plug ins and never found those plug ins. I then downloaded and installed adobe reader X and got rid of the plug ins in the library and that still has not solved the problem. Whenever I click on a link for a pdf it just automatically downloads the pdf. I just want to view the pdfs in the browser.

Hi,
You probably won't have to reinstall Safari. Two things you can try. If you open Adobe Reader and go into the 'Internet' section of its preferences, you should be able to disable the browser plug-in. Some times that alone isn't enough, in which case, browse to HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ and move the Adobe plugin out of the folder. Restart Safari for the changes to take effect.

Can't print or save PDF files to hard drive after upgrading to Adobe Reader 10.1.3

I upgraded to Adobe Reader 10.1.3 on my Mac with OS X 10.7.3. I can open PDF files on Internet, but can neither print them nor save them to my hard drive.

I had the same problem and stumbled by accident on an odd way how to save the PDF file.
After the PDF file is visible, press the key escape “esc”. A new toolbar above the PDF file will appear. Press the “disc” icon next to the “printer” icon. A window drops down, and now you can save the PDF file in your download folder.

Can download but not install Adobe Reader on Mac OS X 10.4.11

I have downloaded both Adobe Reader 9 and 8, and tried to install them on my Mac. I have chosen the versions that go with my OS X 10.4.11. When I dubbleclick on the icon for the 8 version, I am told it cannot be opened, because the system doesn't support the programme. I can get to the installation guide with the 9 version, but when I try to install it, I am told the programme cannot be installed on this computer, and that I should check that the system meets the requirements.
