Pdf files websites does not open

Hi, I can open most links with .pdf extension on any other browsers like Google Chrome and IE9 but not with Firefox 4. Actually I don't think I was able to open these type of files even with Firefox 3.6. When I click on a link with a .pdf it would just be a blank page and nothing comes up no matter how much time I wait to for the page to load.
For example this link would open on Chrome and IE9 but with not Firefox 4:
seomiks.yolasite.com/resources/Se Ashe Dhire by Humayun Ahmed.pdf

Have you tried to download to Windows Explorer to see what happens? You could find that there will be later offers to download to Documents, Desktop, Pictures etc. Or a search may find just where the PDF has gone.
Try going to Options>Applications>Your PDF Reader> Preview in Firefox.
You can then download PDFs to your browser and then Save them to Documents or wherever you want.

Sounds like OS X has lost the association between Pages and its files.
Start by quitting Pages, then going to Finder.
In Finder, locate a .pages file. Click on it (once), then press command-I (eye, not one) to Get Info.
In the Info window that opens, expand the Open With section.
In this section, click on the pop-up menu and choose Pages (even if Pages is already shown).
Click the Change All button to associate all files with the .pages extension with Pages.
Close the info window.
Double click any .pages file to check that Pages will now launch and open the file.

Is it a case of runaway blank tabs? One possible cause is if Firefox wants to download something but you instruct Firefox to handle it itself. This article describes how to clear that up: [[Firefox repeatedly opens empty tabs or windows after you click on a link]].
If they are not blank tabs, do they look like some kind of advertising? You might have a bad add-on. These can slip into your computer as part of a bundle with other software, so I suggest starting here:

When I try to click on a download link for a .pdf file Firefox does not recognize the MIME type and tries to download the file as "index.php"

When visiting a site I frequent I tried to download a linked .pdf file. Previously I've used Firefox 7.0.1 to download the link with no problem. Using Firefox 8 however I the browser does not recognize the .pdf link's mime type. Instead of recognizing the download link as a .pdf file Firefox 8 tries to download it as "index.php". Firefox 8 does this with .doc files and .txt files as well. When I downgrade to 7.0.1 again the problem disappears.

I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.

Attaching pdf files they do not open in adobe reader?

I just downloaded Mozilla as browser due to the many issues with IE. Now when attaching PDF files or trying to read PDF files they show up as a Mozilla icon or do not open with Adobe Acrobat.

That is because Firefox is set as default program for opening .pdf files by Windows.
There are two ways to change it.
1,
Right click on any pdf file --> choose "Open With" --> choose "Choose Default Program" --> now choose the application that you want to set as default for opening .pdf (in this case, Adobe reader.)
2,

Please first try to find the Word template file "Normal.dotm" and rename it to "Normal.old", then restart Microsoft Word to check the result. By default, the Normal.dotm file can be found in:
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
If above doesn't fix the issue, please try to force a re-register of Word in the Windows registry to check if it helps. To do this, please follow:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Click Browse.
3. Locate the Office folder, click the Winword.exe file, and then click
Open. The Winword.exe file is located in the following folder by default:

Downloaded Adobe Reader to I Pad 2. The PDF file is still not opening.

I would go the iTunes store and install the Adobe Mobile Reader app and not the computer application Adobe Reader for Windows.
Of course you may find the Adobe Mobil Reader app is not compatible with the iPad2 and that maybe true for all PDF reading apps through iTunes. Also check to make sure your iPad is compatible to the app.

Website does not open?

A webpage (lohud.com) I used to be able to access no longer opens up on my notebook. It initially appears in my Top sites,it even resets to an updated page, but once I try to fully open it a blank page appears. At times, a small pop-up ad appears on the blank page. It stopped working a few weeks ago, started working again for a day or two and now it back to not working.

I tested that site . . . It's most likely a corrupt cookie, if that's the only site you're having problems with. A Reset may fix it, (getting rid of Cookies) but make sure you restart Safari after you reset. Unfortunately, that will get rid of ALL of your cookies.
You might try going to Safari Preferences >Security >Show Cookies, type in lohud, (and maybe Gannett) and get rid of cookies that show up there. Again, restart Safari and try again.

When i double click a photoshop file it does not open photoshop

it used to open photoshop but now nothing happens, i have to go to photoshop and navigate for the file to open up. any ideas what do do to fix this?

When clicking on a pdf file it does not open and then it opens hundreds of tabs. The only way to stop it is to shut off the computer.

You probably have an incorrect action type set for pdf files, it will be set to "use Firefox" rather than using a pdf application such as Adobe Reader. Unable to upload files using firefox, be it dropbox, gmail or any other websites where we need to attach files. It does not open up a new window to choose file.

all of a sudden im unable to attach files in any of the websites. Im using firefox version 30 and when I click to attach file it does not open up a new window where we can choose the file from my computer. It happens almost in all websites that I use (gmail, dropbox, other websites).

please check if this problem appears as well when you try to download a file, does this happen again when you try to download a file?
if so there must be a problem with your HDD controler, to solve this issue follow th steps:
1.Right Click on My Computer, Select Properties
2.Click on Device Manager in Top Left corner
3.expand the IDA/ATI/ATAPI controllers
4.right click on the one which is related to your HDD
5.click on Uninstall
6.Restart
when you restart your windows the OS will try to install the drivers again, if this happens then restart again and check if the problem is solved, if no try to install the HDD drivers and related drivers manually and then restart your machine

PDF does not "Open in iBooks" or "Open with" any apps from Safari.

After update to iOS 5, I noticed that PDFs in Safari does not "Open in iBooks" or "Open with" any other apps. The option is available, however, nothing happens when I click on it. Has anyone else experienced such an issue?

I have exactly the same issue.
Here is something even more bizarre.
If I go in Safari to
arxiv.org/abs/1012.4362
and click on the link to the pdf it displays it in Safari fine, but wont open it in GoodReader (it will upload it to dropbox but then isnt viewable in there).
However, if I go to the same link in Opera, click on the pdf then, as usual, it opens the pdf in Safari. But now the pdf *can* be uploaded to GoodReader from Safari!
