PDF for ipad has white bars on either side instead of a full bleed

Hi there
i have been creating a pdf document in indesign cc. Set it up for ipad and in 1024x768 and for digital publishing/ipad.
Now when i send it to my ipad and download it from mail i have a white bar left and right on the horizontal layout. Top and bottom are bleeding right to the end.
I have it on every page and cant seem to find the solution how i can have it bleed out on the sides as well. Anyone has an answer for me? i am going nuts. haha

Thanks for your answer Petteri. That could be it even though in adobe reader
its fine in 'CONTINOUS'mode where u scroll down. But the bars show on the
side in horizontal view when you view in "SINGLE PAGE' and you want to
scroll sideways.
Its truly weird. I think the best way is still to design it in 1024x768
don't u think? I want it to be full bleed and no white bars though.

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Albook G4 Display Has White Bar Bottom Screen

Hello all:

Thanks for your reply. Not quite sure when the issue started (my daughter's machine) but I think its been progressing for several months.
Before your reply, I was thinking hardware (monitor cable) but at your suggestion I ran TechTools - no issues. I also checked and repaired permissions, ran the fsck -fy in single user mode, and changed the desktop picture and screen saver options. It seemed to have cleared up, but when I adjust the screen position (open or close) the same area briefly acts up. I still think it may be a connector or cable issue, but there obviously was some sort of software issues too, so thanks for your suggestion. Is there a tutorial on how to check the screen connections that you would recommend? Thanks again!

My Iphone 5 has white bars on top of my screen and i sometimes

My iphone 5 keeps coming up with white bars on top of the screen and i sometimes can't even control my phone. It goes al crazy when the white bars show. These bars fade in then out all the time. HELP pleeeeeeease

The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:

Very High Resolution PDFs for iPad

Hello,
A friend gave me a few PDF files created from very high resolution pictures to view on my iPad.
I loaded the PDF files on iBooks and so far so good. The problem is that when I swipe from a PDF page to another the image doesnt appear immidietly. It takes some time and the image is blur before it appears... After is fine but I want to remove this delay.
Does anyone knows any proper method to view high resolution PDF on iPad without delay when changing pages ? Or how what method or format to follow so to make them proper ?

What PDF reader are you using? Perhaps there is one out there that renders files better.
However, if the images are large then there is only so much that can be done. That delay is caused by the device processing the image. If you find a more efficient reader that may help. But you may also want to consider tweaking with those images, knocking them down just a bit and find that sweet spot where they're still of a good quality but not so large that they push the boundaries of what the device can handle.

Excel for iPad has missing columns

I've downloaded Excel for ipad and also have Office 365 Subscription. When I download Excel Spreadsheet from my OneDrive it opens up just fine, however, it is missing columns that are on Excel sheet from OneDrive. I also see no way to scroll sideways on the sheet. When I open a blank (new) sheet it scrolls just fine. Anybody else have these issues?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

And with respect to what Mark Jalbert said, I have been using iTerm for at least 10 years, and prefer it over Terminal. That is if you are going to spend a lot of time using a terminal interface.

In my case, I like iTerm's bookmarks/profiles that allow me to setup ssh commands to start a new Tab window that automatically ssh's into a remote Linux, Solaris, AIX or even another Mac. I also like the ability to specify what double-click selects as a word (I generally have it set to allow selecting file full path names as a word, instead of needing to click and drag to select a path). I like that I can have iTerm automatically copy to the paste buffer anything I select with the mouse/trackpad, so I can quickly paste it anywhere.

If using embedded files won't work can I make the PDF's external files & have links to open them?

Is there any reason why my ipad has 2 bars lte and my iphone 5 cannot keep lte in the same room?

I purchased my iphone 5 on release day and I purchased my ipad 3rd gen back about a year ago. Both are on verizon service. And both struggled at keeping an lte signal when i'm at work. I work in a metal roof building and I assumed that this was the issue. After several months I cancelled my service on the ipad. Last week I decided to reactivate the ipad. For some reason they decided to replace my sim card and gave me a new "phone number". When I carried it to work, i've had 2 bars lte coverage constantly. My iphone is still fluctuating from 3g to lte all the time. Most of the time it is stuck on 3g.
Is it possible that replacing the lte sim card in the ipad helped it get a better signal? It doesn't really make any sense to me. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

Of course there is a way around it. You can select exactly the content that you want to have sync to your devoces in iTunes.
My first suggestions is to turn off that stupid (IMO) feature that Apple insists on making default - auto syncing. Launch iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from Syncing Automatically. Click OK.
Connect your device to the computer and now you will have to launch iTunes on your own. Select your iPad under the devices tab in the upper right corner or enable the sidebar by going to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu. Once you click on the iPad name, you should see the Summary Window on the right. At the top of the window all of the other iTunes tabs are arranged. Click on the apps tab and go through and deselect all of the apps that you don't want on the phone. Click on Apply in the lower right corner to apply the changes and sync the phone.

How to create interactive pdf for Ipad using InDesign CS6

Hi I created a Magazine layout using InDesign CS6 and wanted it to be viewed on native Ipad reader (but not as apps). I put interactivity features like page navigations and hyperlinks and converted it to interactive pdf. The problem was the links and buttons are not showing on Ipad.
I tried using Acrobat Pro to create the hyperlinks and this time the navigations and hyperlinks are showing. But is there a way not to create the hyperlinks manually one by one (specially the next page and previous page). If I have more than 100 pages of documents this process will be very tedious.
Is there a solution to create the interactive pdf directly from InDesign without creating the links in Acrobat?

This is Sean Smith. Marilou who wrote the original post works for me. Bob if you could point us in the direction of details you need I’ll ensure we provide the additional information as soon as possible.
M tells me she pretty much doing exactly what Steve's article suggests.
The concern is what a remarkably cumbersome process this appears to be.
Even though I believe her explanation entirely I find the problem to be highly disconcerting as it’s wasting an immense amount of valuable time and inhibiting the production process significantly.
She is producing wonderful results but via an immensely painstaking process fraught with potential for error. Each page link has to be manually linked to the next by number. It’s entirely possible to make a mistake and link to the incorrect page thus missing pages.
If she inserts a new page – guess what? All the pages links have to changed manually and double checked yet again.
If she makes a ‘Contents’ section as we do and exports the InDesign file as an interactive PDF all the contents items and links are missing and are therefore blank.
She then has to export the document as a plain PDF and do the job again in Acrobat.
For an extravagantly wealthy company with such extraordinarily expensive software I find this to be entirely incredulous.
Who is the Product Manager for InDesign?
Are they aware of this issue?
What are they doing about it and when will it be done?
Just curious are you guys paid employees or volunteers as this appears to be an official forum and we are new here?
Digital publishing of PDF magazines appears to be an explosive growth market especially for platforms such as the iPad but this primary product for the task appears to be inadequate or ill-conceived.
Is DPS a possible solution or is this more for Apps than PDF production?

Autosync a folder with PDF for iPad/iPhone

Is there a way to autosync a folder with iPad?
We'll have a shared PDF folder in our company, and what we need is the iPad to autosync with that folder, because the PDF files can change from day to day. So far we have to choose the specific file on the iPad and delete it, and then again choose the new file, which has been updatet, that's a bit difficualt. The problem is that we are not online with the iPads, and its not possible to be so. So using DropBox or similiar is not possible.
This solution is possible with music, cant understand why is not possible with PDF. Our PDF's are in different folder, so we need a app/solution which makes is possible to choose folders, and not files.

Spotlight can certainly search pdf files I make. For instance, I have a file I created a couple of days ago named "AlaskaAirXmas06.pdf" and if I enter the search term "Horizon Air" that file is the top pick in Spotlight. When I select that file to open from the Spotlight results list, it opens in Preview with the first instance of "Horizon Air" highlighted, and with the drawer open listing all 5 occurrences of the phrase in the pdf. I have a file named "hanover.pdf" which I downloaded off the British Royals' web site, and when I do a search in Spotlight for the word "brunswick" that pdf pops up as the top search result, opening it has the word highlighted. So normal text based pdfs that can be opened by Preview and were created using my Mac are certainly indexed and searchable by Spotlight. The hanover.pdf file was created by QuarkXPress and encoded by Acrobat PDFWriter for Mac. I also have a file that is searched just fine by Spotlight that was also downloaded from the Royals' web site, and it was created on a Windows machine using MS Word and encoded using Acrobat Distiller for Windows.
However, I have in fact opened all the above at one time. Whether that will make a difference or not I don't know. I can search other pdfs from a Mac that I know I have not actually opened. Whether that would be true of pdfs not opened and not created by a Mac I don't know.
You might check your machine to make sure you have this:
"/System/Library/Spotlight/PDF.mdimporter"
That is necessary for Spotlight to be able to parse pdf files. If you have the importer and have tried re-indexing the folder containing the pdfs, more information about the pdf files themselves might help determine the source of your problem.

Adobe acrobat reader and pdf for ipad ?? cant open some files

I am having trouble opening a group or package of several pdf files on my IPAD I have downloaded an app that allows me to open a single pdf file, but there are limitations for other files. any suggestions?

I have GoodReader installed and I cannot get it to open a PDF package. I just get a splash screen that tells me that I need to update to Adobe Reader 9 to view the files properly. This is the first thing that I have thrown at GoodReader that it can't handle. GoodReader is well worth the $.

FormCalc on Static PDF for ipad

I have created a Static PDF using Livecycle ES2. In the form I have included FormCalc scripting for extended total and grand total fields, however when we open on the ipad the totals will not calculate.
Is there a work around or fix for this?

Ok, the scripting you provided is working for the rows, muliplying the qtyXprice each for the extended amount. But how to I calculate the grand total, I need it to add up all "Extended Pricing" and any price entered into "Shipping/Delivery", this is the script I wrote in FormCalc:

Ipad has White screen

My Ipad screen turned white. I've tried all types of rebooting. Any suggestions or is it dead?

If the screen is white and you've powered it off completely (gotten to a black screen) and powered back on, then reset (held the home button and the sleep wake button at the same time for 20 seconds or until you see an apple logo) then try connecting to iTunes and doing a backup and a restore to see if that solves it.
